Transcript
00:00Good morning. If you're watching on YouTube, don't forget to hit subscribe.
00:04This morning we're contending with some thick fog patches and the potential for things to be a little icy out there as well.
00:10Temperatures have fallen away where we've had clear skies through the night.
00:14Weather's snow lying on the ground, temperatures well below freezing.
00:18Not frosty everywhere, however. Quite a bit of cloud in the west and the south, and there are a few showers around.
00:23Overall, though, a much drier day today compared to yesterday over the Midlands and eastern England.
00:28Some brightness may poke through at times, but in the west in particular, there will be a lot of showers.
00:33The west coast of Wales, Devon, Cornwall, eastern side of Northern Ireland, into southwest Scotland.
00:39In this zone, some pretty heavy showers likely to move through at times, even the odd rumble of thunder, flash of lightning.
00:46Showers are possible elsewhere, but much of the Midlands, northern and eastern England, and a good part of Scotland will be dry.
00:53I can't promise a huge amount of sunshine. We're going to have that misty, murky weather persisting in some areas.
00:58All day, it's that time of year. But where the sun does come through, I say, it should feel a lot milder than yesterday,
01:05even though temperature's not much higher across the Midlands and the south, 8, 9 degrees.
01:09Further north, temperature's struggling a bit after starting well below freezing, but still getting up to 5 to 7 degrees,
01:16so around the average. Still plenty of these heavy showers coming into parts of the west, especially through this evening,
01:21across the east of Northern Ireland, but more generally also across the Midlands and southern England.
01:26We could see some outbreaks of rain as we go through Friday night, pushing north.
01:30Pushing north because the wind's coming up from the south, but really bringing very mild air.
01:35Still going to be a chilly night, not as cold as the night just gone.
01:39Temperatures in the south holding up at 4 or 5 degrees Celsius, but still some pockets of frost likely over northern Scotland.
01:44And again, where there's snow lying on the ground, temperature's likely to dip a few degrees below freezing.
01:50It's a messy mix then into the weekend. A lot of cloud. For many places, a fairly grey weekend, but for quite a few of us, it should be a dry weekend.
01:58Some showers will work their way northwards across Scotland and will continue to feed some showers in around the west coast of Wales
02:05and into the east of Northern Ireland. Elsewhere again, perhaps brightening up a touch through the day.
02:10Temperatures close to the average for the time of year 7 to 9. We might squeak double digits across the south west.
02:17The wind's though generally fairly light. It's a similar messy mix as we go into Sunday as well.
02:23For more details on that, you'll want to watch our full weekend forecast.
02:27Again, another reason to subscribe. That's available on our YouTube channel.
