00:00Hello there, welcome to your Friday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Subtle changes in wind direction allow for a bit more cloud as we enter the weekend and certainly today some
00:10cloudiest skies towards the north.
00:11High pressure though still casting an influence from the Atlantic and what that means despite more clouds and a few
00:17fleeting showers on Saturday,
00:19Sunday will dawn brighter, chilly but some sunshine coming through, a little bit more cloud and rain across the far
00:25north of Scotland on Sunday.
00:27But this morning you can see where the cloud is, it will break up through the first part of the
00:31day and notice a little bit of patchy rain where it's thick enough.
00:35So eastern Scotland, the North Pennines initially, even the southern uplands and a little bit of dampness in the air
00:40across the far north of Scotland but it brightens up across these places
00:44and even along the east coast where we've seen that cloud cling on through the last week, we will see
00:50it break up with some brighter moments coming through.
00:52Sunshine elsewhere, strong sunshine at that and temperatures yet again rising very quickly.
00:57So 23 across the central belt of Scotland as well as Northern Ireland.
01:01For northern England probably around 20, 21 and then further south those temperatures rise very quickly through the afternoon.
01:07Probably the last day we'll see a 30 degrees Celsius somewhere across central southern parts of England, 28 for South
01:12Wales as well as the Midlands.
01:14So locally hot across more southern areas, pleasantly warm further north and fresh with that northerly breeze coming in across
01:21exposure towards the far north, northeast and northwest of Scotland.
01:24Even along this east coast here, yes, things feeling a little bit fresher but some pleasant sunshine coming through as
01:30well.
01:30So that's the picture through this afternoon and into evening time, we'll see more cloud roll in yet again.
01:38So let's have a look as that cloud with that northerly breeze bringing in some low cloud and even one
01:44or two mist and fog patches into the early hours of Saturday morning.
01:48A little bit of rain in the breeze as well as we enter the day on Saturday as that cloud
01:54sinks southwards.
01:55And in fact, on Saturday, subtle changes in our weather, it's going to feel slightly different.
02:00Temperatures still probably double figures away from the glens of Scotland to start the day, but more cloud across the
02:06skies as we enter the morning.
02:08And with that, a little bit of patchy rain and a few fleeting showers just streaming down with that northerly
02:14breeze.
02:15Brighter skies, Wales and Midlands, central southern England, the west country and the cloud will break at times further west
02:20across Scotland.
02:21But notice this cloud is gradually pushing its way southwards.
02:24There will be holes in the cloud across most parts and those showers are always very light, never really amounting
02:30to very much.
02:30Many areas will have a dry afternoon.
02:32Sunny spells yet again, but look at these temperatures, a good few degrees lower than what we've experienced this week
02:38across England and Wales.
02:39High of probably 26 at the very best.
02:42And then for Northern Ireland, only the high teens, the high teens across much of Scotland, we could see a
02:4620 across the central belt.
02:47Along this eastern side, exposed to that breeze feeling rather fresh.
02:51And again, temperatures probably 17 to 20 degrees Celsius.
02:54But some pleasant weather to end the day on Saturday.
02:57The cloud will break, some late sunshine across some parts.
03:00But overnight into Sunday, it does turn chilly.
03:04You'll notice it across the glens of Scotland.
03:06Temperatures down to low single figures.
03:08But Sunday will dawn bright with lots of sunshine.
03:11Temperatures around average, if not just slightly above.
03:13And a little rain across the far north and northwest of Scotland.
03:16So wherever you are, enjoy the weekend.
03:18There will be some sunshine around.
03:21But notice, and it's worth noting, that it will feel locally cooler along some coastlines with that breeze.
03:27Wherever you are, take care.
03:28Have a great Friday.
03:29And I'll see you again soon.
03:30And I'll see you again soon.
03:30And I'll see you again soon.
03:30And I'll see you again soon.
