Wet weather moves in from the west tonight, with a slow-moving low-pressure system bringing rain north and northeast through Thursday. After a chilly night, Thursday starts wet for Northern Ireland, Wales, the West Country, and parts of England, with heavier pulses in places. Rain spreads to Scotland later, while eastern areas stay drier initially. Winds freshen along coasts, temperatures range 7–10°C. Thursday evening turns clearer inland with frost and fog before another band of rain arrives Friday, sweeping across western regions into England by evening. Saturday remains unsettled with rain or showers, but temperatures rise slightly to 9–12°C.

00:00Hello there, welcome to a Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04More wet weather arrives from the west as we head through tonight and into tomorrow.
00:09Let's pick up on the bigger picture.
00:10You can see this complex area of low pressure, slow moving.
00:14This is the rain extending northwards and northeastwards through Thursday.
00:19The air remains relatively cold and then through Thursday night it does turn cold
00:23with a frost and even some fog patches before yet again another band of rain arrives.
00:29It's associated with an area of low pressure, slow moving yet again.
00:32The winds will be stronger this time and there will be more in the way of rain
00:36and it will extend towards Scotland from the southwest.
00:41For the time being through this evening many parts seeing dry weather
00:43with those showers just drifting across the skies and then towards the west
00:48that cloud thickens and we'll see outbreaks of rain arriving across west country Wales
00:52as well as Northern Ireland into the early hours of tomorrow.
00:56showers ahead of it across western Scotland and some for Shetland as well.
01:00Elsewhere a mostly dry night, a bit chilly across the glens but it will be a wet one
01:06as we enter the day on Thursday.
01:08Anywhere from central southern England, the west country, western parts of the Midlands,
01:13Wales as well as Northern Ireland.
01:14Some heavier pulses also.
01:16Temperatures holding up across many southern and western areas, 5 or 6 degrees Celsius.
01:21First thing then tomorrow morning, well let's pick up on that rain, a wet one for Northern
01:26Ireland throughout the day.
01:27That rain continues to push in across the Midlands, Northern England, the home counties
01:32as well through morning rush hour.
01:34Brighter skies across Northern Scotland, drier for eastern counties before that rain eventually
01:39arrives across these parts.
01:40And then it brightens up across Wales, west country seeing some showers, central southern
01:44England seeing some brighter weather.
01:46But that rain across Northern Ireland continues through the afternoon as we see that wet weather
01:52arrive across central and eastern areas of Scotland through the afternoon and into evening
01:57time.
01:58Windy across Shetland and Orkney, the east coast of England as well.
02:01And a bit of a breeze down towards the west country inland.
02:04Winds will be fairly fresh, nothing to write home about as temperatures arrive 7 to 10 degrees
02:09Celsius.
02:11So that's a picture on Thursday.
02:12As I said, through Thursday evening, first of all, this wet weather clears towards the
02:16northeast.
02:17Still some showers coming in across Irish seacoast, Channel coast and for Northern Ireland as
02:23well as Western Scotland.
02:24But inland, expect clearer skies.
02:26Winds will fall light.
02:28Expect also a frost across many areas with some fog patches to start the day.
02:34That fog will be slow to clear before the wind picks up.
02:36And yet again, that wet weather arrives across Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, the west
02:42country by lunchtime into the afternoon, sweeping up towards the northwest of England, the far
02:47southwest of Wales.
02:48And eventually, by evening time, reaching the home counties, eastern counties of England.
02:53Here's your outlook then through Saturday.
02:54It's pretty much rain or showers.
02:56Temperatures on the up though.
02:57So slightly better than the beginning of the week, 9 to 12 degrees Celsius.
