00:00Good morning. After what was quite a cool and unsettled day on Saturday, today does promise to be quite a
00:05bit warmer for most of us.
00:07And indeed, it's a mostly sunny start to the day in some eastern parts of Scotland, eastern parts of England
00:12as well.
00:13Whilst the sunshine here will turn somewhat hazier through the course of the day, it should stay largely dry and
00:17bright well on into the afternoon.
00:19Further west, though, the cloud is quite a bit thicker and it's bringing some outbreaks of rain already across parts
00:24of Northern Ireland and Scotland.
00:25Some quite heavy bursts through the middle part of the morning into the afternoon across central, southern parts of Scotland
00:30and Northern Ireland.
00:31And also turning quite damp across northwest England and parts of Wales, particularly up over the higher ground.
00:37Here, quite a keen southerly breeze still blowing, but not as strong as it was in the southwest, for example,
00:42yesterday.
00:44And actually, the winds will help to lift the temperatures compared to on Saturday.
00:47So, a widely warmer day to come, 19 to 22 degrees Celsius quite widely across many parts of England, but
00:54locally 23 or even 24 in parts of East Anglia and the far southeast.
00:58And certainly not too bad a picture when it's not raining, even up across the northwest of the UK either.
01:0315, 16, 17 degrees with some late afternoon sunshine for western Scotland.
01:09Now, this graphic just shows how much higher temperatures will be compared to on Saturday.
01:13So, for most, the orange shades are there, indicating temperatures 1 to 3 degrees Celsius, higher than on Saturday.
01:19Most noteworthy across parts of eastern Scotland, and especially for East Anglia and the southeast, where we could even see
01:24temperatures some 5 degrees higher than yesterday.
01:27But as we go into this evening, it turns increasingly wet for many of us.
01:31The rain continuing to spread erratically and slowly southeastwards across into England and Wales.
01:37Notice these yellows and oranges.
01:38This is an indication that the rain will be quite intense for a short period of time.
01:42So, quite heavy downpours possible, particularly over the higher ground of the Pennines, the Cumbrian Fells, and the higher ground
01:48of Wales, too.
01:49But there will be some outbreaks of light and showery rain elsewhere across the UK, too.
01:53Now, it will be a mild night, particularly across England and Wales.
01:56Temperatures here not falling below 12 or 13 degrees Celsius in most of the towns and the cities.
02:01But the exception will be across the northwest, where in Northern Ireland, and especially northwest Scotland, clearing skies later in
02:08the night will allow temperatures to actually fall down to, well, mid-single figures in the countryside.
02:12And possibly low enough for a touch of grass frost in some of the most sheltered glens in northwest Scotland.
02:18So, certainly a chilly start to the day on Monday here.
02:21But nonetheless, a bright one with plenty of sunny spells.
02:24Just a small chance of a few showers, particularly out towards the west coast.
02:28Further south and east, though, a quite wet and soggy day to come, mainly for England and Wales.
02:32And the rain will continue for much of the day in eastern areas, still.
02:36The potential for some quite heavy bursts of rain at times into the east midlands and east Anglia and the
02:40southeast into the afternoon.
02:42So, temperatures will be suppressed.
02:44They will be lower compared to today, for example, in east Anglia and southeast.
02:48No better than 18 or 19 degrees.
02:50And despite temperatures being a little bit lower in the west as well, it should actually feel pleasant enough in
02:55the sunshine.
02:55So, probably feeling nicer for parts of Wales and northwest England compared to today.
03:01So, temperatures a little bit below par overall on Monday.
03:04And actually, that is the theme as we go into Tuesday and Wednesday too.
03:08Quite a cool and showery picture for most of us.
03:11Some quite heavy downpours, particularly in the north and the west, where I wouldn't want to rule out some hail
03:16and thunder at times.
03:17But there will also be some occasional sunny spells as well.
