00:00Hello, a drier, brighter day for most of us today. Don't expect it to be too warm out there,
00:06but many of us will see some sunny spells. Don't get used to it either, because as the
00:10satellite picture shows, the view from space, a big mass of cloud, and it is kind of heading
00:16our way. A deepening area of low pressure, or at least it has been deepening through the early
00:21hours of Friday morning. Pretty intense this low. It'll weaken a little as it approaches the UK,
00:26but it will bring us a spell of wet and very windy weather tomorrow. Let's get back to today. It's
00:32not completely dry out there. There are a few showers around, particularly in western areas,
00:35so parts of Wales, southwest England, northwest England, seeing a few showers. Quite a few for
00:39northern Ireland and western Scotland, but they're not as intense as the downpours that we saw
00:44yesterday, particularly in the south. It's not as windy either, and certainly many eastern parts
00:49will stay completely dry and bright with some sunny spells. As I mentioned, though, it's not particularly
00:54warm temperatures around, or a touch below the average for the time of year. But if you get out
00:59in the sunny spells, and with lighter winds, particularly over central and eastern parts,
01:04compared to yesterday, it'll feel a little warmer, with highs here of 18, 19, perhaps 20 Celsius.
01:09It is on the cool side, particularly around the western coast, with the breeze here just 14 or 15
01:14Celsius. And then down to the southwest, that low arrives, already bringing rain to Isles of Scilly
01:20and Cornwall into the late afternoon, and then through the evening, spreading into Wales, across
01:24southwest England, up across northern Ireland by midnight, and then much of England will be seeing
01:29outbreaks of rain by the time we get to dawn on Saturday. And the wind's really whipping up in this
01:34zone. You can see the swirl there. That's the low pressure heading its way across the Republic of
01:38Ireland, but the strongest winds on its southern flank. So coming into south Wales and southwest
01:43England, you might get woken up by the windowsills rattling first thing in the morning. Elsewhere,
01:49I say that cloud and rain will move in, which will keep the temperatures up with some clearer skies
01:52over northern Scotland. We could see temperatures dipping to single figures here, but elsewhere,
01:57quite a mild start to Saturday. But it will also be quite a soggy start, a grey, damp start.
02:03Outbreaks of rain slowly swinging their way across pretty much all areas. Northeast Scotland favours
02:09for some brightness, and it may brighten up for a time over parts of the Midlands, Wales, and southern
02:14England. A bit of a gap between these two bands of rain, that first initial weather front, and then
02:19another one coming in behind. Let's just focus in on those winds, because as I said, getting very gusty
02:24through the night and staying windy through much of Saturday in this zone. Unusually windy for the
02:30time of year. Quite a few events going on, of course, because it is Saturday. So just bear that in
02:34mind. It is
02:35going to be very blustery, particularly across Cornwall and Pembrokeshire on Saturday morning,
02:39but right across the southwestern quarter of the UK. Fairly windy conditions through Saturday.
02:44Will brighten up, as I said, in some places, but then we are looking at some heavy showers coming
02:49in, increasing risk of thunderstorms through the afternoon, particularly for Northern Ireland,
02:53into parts of Wales in this secondary band. Elsewhere, I say we'll see some sunny spells,
02:58but then some heavy showers also possible come the afternoon over northern England. Perhaps turning a
03:03bit drier in the southwest come the afternoon into the evening, but staying blustery and gusty here
03:09throughout the day. Largely dry across northeast Scotland, and with a bit of sunshine, temperatures
03:14creeping up to similar values to today. So a roundabout or a touch below average for the time of year,
03:20and certainly feeling cooler with that wind across the south. As we go through Saturday evening,
03:25still some heavy downpours over Northern Ireland, Western Scotland, Northern England, parts of the
03:30Midlands. Still the odd rumble of thunder going as these heavy showers do continue. And then as we head
03:37into Sunday, one weather system clears away, but there's another little curl, another area of low
03:42pressure, bringing more wet weather here. And again, the isobar's not too far apart. So again,
03:47could be quite windy, but on Sunday, more likely to see the strongest winds in Western Scotland,
03:51Northern Ireland, where there will be further outbreaks of rain. Some showery rain for West Wales and
03:57Northern England, maybe the Midlands, but much of Eastern England, particularly East Anglia and the
04:01Southeast, looking largely dry on Sunday. We'll see some spells of sunshine as well. And although
04:07there will be a bit of a breeze here, that's where we'll see the highest temperatures with some sunshine,
04:11quite a big difference. We could get it to 21, 22 degrees Celsius, whereas further West, again,
04:16feeling cool with the wind and the outbreaks of rain with highs of only 15 or 16 degrees Celsius.
04:22The weather remaining pretty mixed as we head into it next week as well. You want to keep up to
