11 April - National afternoon forecast presented by Kathryn Chalk.
Transcript
00:00good afternoon low pressure is dominating this weekend it brings sunny spells and blustery
00:06april showers and it's going to be feeling particularly cool in that wind so taking a
00:11look at the bigger picture we've got a beautiful swirl of cloud associated with this area of low
00:16pressure also a frontal band that's brought a damp and miserable start across eastern areas
00:22with outbreaks of rain but it is an improving picture that's going to be clearing its way
00:28eastwards really lingering for the longest across shetland so much drier and brighter across much of
00:35the southeast into east anglia and into the far southeast of england behind that though it is a
00:42case of sunny spells and frequent blustery showers some of the showers are going to be on the heavy
00:47side with the risk of hail and thunder perhaps even a little bit wintry over the highest ground
00:54of scotland we're going to see coastal gales as well so it is going to be feeling cool in that
01:00wind
01:00highs in the west only around nine or ten degrees but temperatures will recover across the southeast
01:07highs of up to 13 or 14 degrees as we go through this evening then this band of rain that's
01:14lingering
01:14across shetland will gradually clear its way through otherwise with this area of low pressure in charge
01:20will bring further spells of showers quickly rattling their way through some of the showers may merge
01:26to give longer spells of rain and they're still going to be heavy perhaps with hail and thunder
01:31driest for the longest though across the far southeast so across the midlands and east anglia but we've
01:37still got some strong winds especially across western scotland with gales perhaps severe gales
01:43as we head into sunday morning and with the strength of the winds that will keep temperatures up
01:48overnight so six or seven degrees to start sunday morning so it is a dry and bright start initially
01:55across much of the southeast but it won't last long there will be further showers in the mix so
02:00actually it is going to turn more unsettled here compared to saturday with showers perhaps emerging
02:07at times to give longer spells of rain across devon and cornell into the midlands and eventually
02:12into east anglia to the north of that perhaps some drier and brighter interludes but otherwise
02:17closest to the area of low pressure further spells of showers again still on the heavy side and still
02:24with the risk of hail and thunder the strongest winds still confined to the northwest generally a little
02:31bit lighter compared to saturday across the far south otherwise temperatures still quite similar
02:3810 to up to 14 degrees so if you dodge a shower hopefully feeling pleasant enough in any sheltered
02:44spots now as we head through sunday evening this area of low pressure will continue to push its way
02:51northwards so there'll still be further showers but they'll generally start easing and the winds will also
02:57turn much lighter and that will allow for quite a chilly start to monday morning still plenty of showers
03:03in the mix but this time they'll be slow moving a bit of a respite on tuesday and then turning
03:08more
03:08unsettled on wednesday that's all from me for now but if you're watching this on youtube make sure to
