00:00It's a bit damp out there for many of us today, particularly towards the south.
00:05Further north we have some fairly hefty, blustery showers pushing their way in.
00:10We can see in the earlier satellite imagery this swathe, this band of cloud.
00:15This is a front, a front that's been pushing its way southeastwards
00:19and has brought, yes, some quite persistent drizzly rain really
00:23as it's crossed now into parts of England and Wales.
00:27And then behind it, that front, because it's a cold front, it's brought also cold air.
00:31So we are seeing temperatures dropping as we go through this afternoon and into this evening.
00:36So a cold feel again across northern western parts.
00:40Plenty of showers here this afternoon.
00:42Yes, some sunny spells, but also plenty of showers.
00:45And some of these showers will be heavy, could be thundery,
00:47some further hails quite likely as well, and they'll be quite blustery.
00:51And because of that cold air then, some further sleets, some snows quite likely as well.
00:56But worth bearing in mind, I mean, I'm not expecting a huge amount of snow to settle,
01:00particularly on roads and to lower levels.
01:03But, yeah, a little bit of snow could be lying on grassy surfaces,
01:06but that shouldn't cause any major issues as we go through the next 24 hours or so.
01:11Meanwhile, further south, as that front pushes through,
01:14it is going to stay quite cloudy, quite damp, really, across parts of southern England and Wales
01:18for a little while.
01:19But eventually that will clear through and become largely confined to just the southeast
01:22as we head towards this evening.
01:25Perhaps something a bit drier, brighter in between.
01:27So parts of central, maybe southeastern Wales and some parts of northern England.
01:32Here, maybe we're going to get the highest temperatures,
01:34looking at highs around 13, 14 Celsius here.
01:37But further south, where you're stuck under the cloud and rain,
01:39feeling a bit cooler than this.
01:41And that colder air coming in from the northwest
01:42will keep temperatures for a fair few places in single figures.
01:47And also worth factoring in those blustery winds towards the northwest.
01:50That will make it feel even colder as well.
01:53Showerouts towards the northwest will become a little bit more widespread
01:56as we go through this evening,
01:58but then largely becoming confined to parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland, really.
02:03The showery rain, sleet and snow, some of it perhaps quite heavy.
02:07They'll be merging into some longer spells of rain
02:09as some feature makes its way southeastwards as we go overnight.
02:14Meanwhile, across England and Wales, once that front clears away,
02:17and apart from a couple of showers pushing through,
02:19it's going to be largely dry through the early hours of Saturday morning.
02:23A good deal of clear skies.
02:25And with that, yeah, it's going to turn quite chilly.
02:27Temperature's getting close to freezing for many of us.
02:30A few principles will dip a little bit below.
02:32So there will be a bit of frost around first thing on Saturday morning.
02:36But once that sun rises, well, that should clear anything away
02:39and that will start to lift temperatures quite quickly.
02:43So through Saturday, a bright, sunny start today across much of England and Wales.
02:47Cloudier, wetter across Scotland and Northern Ireland with showery rain, sleet and snow.
02:51And that's then going to become more widespread as we go through the day.
02:55So plenty of showers around.
02:56Most places at risk of seeing at least a few showers at times.
03:00Perhaps some places towards southwest Devon and Cornwall may be avoiding them
03:04and actually staying largely dry, some decent sunny weather here.
03:07But yeah, most places seeing some showers, they are going to be quite blustery.
03:11Still some strong winds, particularly towards the northeast, some strong gusty winds here.
03:15And all the while, those strong winds will make it feel pretty cold.
03:19Pretty chilly, really.
03:21We have that colder air that I mentioned coming through.
03:24And temperatures, if anything, are going to be down a degree or so compared to today.
03:28And when you factor in the blustery winds, well, it's going to feel even chillier as well.
03:32Some of the showers will continue as we go into the evening.
03:35But actually overnight, particularly across England and Wales, many of those showers are going to clear away.
03:41So Saturday night into Sunday could be largely dry, quite clear and could be quite frosty.
03:46Meanwhile, we have more wetter weather coming into the northwest as we go through Saturday night.
03:51And that's going to make its way southwards on Sunday.
03:54So most places having a bit more rain to come, more persistent rain on Sunday.
03:59We'll have more details on that coming up later.
04:01Bye-bye.
