00:00Hello again. It's that time of year where a little bit of sunshine makes a big difference
00:04and also the wind direction makes a huge difference. Easterly winds picking up which
00:08can generate quite a lot of cloud and a cool feel along eastern coasts. Certainly as that
00:14breeze picks up overnight tonight it's going to introduce more cloud and some showery outbreaks
00:18of rain. Of course Scotland, northern England, perhaps even the old shower a little further
00:22south also, but tended to fizzle out as we head towards dawn. With some clearer skies
00:27in the west temperatures could still dip close to freezing certainly over parts of
00:31North Wales, southwest Scotland, but with a bit more cloud, a bit more breeze for most
00:36places it won't be as cold as it was the previous night. Into the morning and some
00:42sunshine around but down the spine of the country quite a lot of cloud early on.
00:46Quite quickly though that moves its way from east to west and the showers kind of
00:51kind of fizzle out really. So just the odd one lingering over perhaps southern
00:54Scotland and then in the afternoon maybe seeing one or two for Northern Ireland. The
00:58vast majority though having a dry day on Tuesday and as you can see certainly by
01:02the afternoon quite a lot of sunshine. As always with an easterly breeze picking up
01:07there's always the threat of mist and low cloud coming in from the North Sea. Some
01:12harm may affect the Northern Isles and the east coast of Scotland at times. But
01:17elsewhere I say many places dry with long sunny spells. There is that easterly breeze
01:21picking up. That will bring a chill along the east coast. Temperatures generally a
01:26bit higher than Mondays but feeling cooler with that wind. Notice temperatures
01:31probably peaking in the southwest, southwest, southwest England 15, 16 maybe
01:35even 17 Celsius. But particularly in southwest England quite a gusty wind picking
01:39up here also blowing over the moors. Those winds could get pretty lively especially on
01:44Tuesday evening time and that will impact the temperature. So feeling closer to
01:49single figures if you're exposed to that wind either on the east coast or in the
01:53southwest of England. So as I said the wind makes a big old difference. As we go
01:58through Tuesday nights well we'll continue with that easterly wind. If
02:01anything strengthening, if anything picking up more in the southwest of
02:04England gusts over the moors of 50 miles an hour are likely and even at lower
02:09levels around the headlands we could see those gusts not far off that. So
02:14something to be aware of those gusty winds in the southwest and on the east
02:18coast of England through the course of Wednesday because they will keep on
02:22blowing. Again with some shelter temperatures may dip down to three or
02:25four Celsius but for most that breeze enough to keep the temperatures up at
02:28five to seven degrees for Wednesday. Again many places will be fine and sunny
02:33as is often the case with the cold sea at this time of year. An easterly wind could
02:38generate some low cloud along eastern coast but it's always really tricky to pin
02:41down the details of that. Perhaps a bit more high clouds spilling into the
02:45southwest. It's the small chance of a little bit of rain trickling towards the
02:48Isles of Scilly from an area of low pressure here. But again the vast
02:51majority dry but again quite cool on the east coast and feeling chilly in the
02:56brisk wind in the southwest. In the sunny sparse temperatures 15, 16, maybe 17
03:00degrees once more. Temperatures set to rise as we go through the rest of this
03:05week. High pressure continues to dominate so a lot of dry and sunny weather to be
03:09had. For more details on that you can watch Alex Burkhill's week ahead of our
03:14video that's available on our YouTube channel.
