00:00Welcome along to a latest update from the Met Office. Thanks for joining me. If you are watching

00:09evening. We've got a set of weather fronts and tightly packed isobars. Wet and windy conditions
00:14across the north. Further south, high pressure was in control, but it is just being pushed away.
00:20Still largely fine and dry. Of course, East Anglia in the southeast, where of course we could really
00:25do with some rain. Might turn a little misty in places. The heavy rain across Scotland slipping
00:29south, so we'll see a wet spell for northern England and Wales, ending up really over parts
00:34of the Midlands and southwest England by dawn. Behind that, it's a cold front, so behind it
00:39the air is colder, so under the clear skies it will turn a bit chilly. Again, could turn
00:43a little bit misty with one or two fog patches. Enough of a breeze to stop temperatures dropping
00:47too far across Scotland, but ahead of this cold front, still very warm for the time of
00:54year. Temperatures holding up in towns and cities in the teens. Further north, we could
00:57easily drop into the low single figures in rural parts, maybe down to three or four degrees
01:03in some sheltered glens across Scotland. So quite a contrast still, temperature-wise on
01:08Saturday, and a different feel for most. A brighter day for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:13A greyer day, certainly a fairly dull morning for the East Midlands, Lincolnshire, and that
01:17thicker cloud just edging its way down across East Anglia in the southeast. But what we could
01:21do with the rain? See, the rain is really kind of fizzling out. Just a few lightish showers
01:25through the morning. There is the chance of one or two heavier showers breaking out in
01:30south-western parts of England, particularly through the afternoon, but they'll be very
01:33hit and miss, and many places will stay dry. Main exception to that will be Western Scotland,
01:38where we'll see a few showers along the coast and over the Western Isles and over the Highlands,
01:42but I suspect even here, many places won't see a shower and stay dry and bright. A much brighter
01:48day for Northern England and Wales. Plenty of afternoon sunshine. Same goes for Northern Ireland.
01:52Also, the wind's a lot lighter on Saturday afternoon. A pretty pleasant autumn afternoon.
01:58The temperatures may be a squeak above average for most, 15, 16 degrees across the north,
02:03further south, though. Again, really quite mild. 21, 22, possibly even 23 Celsius if we see any
02:09breaks in the cloud across the southeast for the afternoon. Still a few of those showers around
02:14as we go into the evening time, so just be aware of that if you are heading out. Again,
02:18nothing substantial and not that widespread, so not particularly useful because it's been so dry,
02:24of course, but generally staying dry across England and Wales as we head into Sunday morning.
02:29Notice, though, it could turn quite misty with one or two fog patches, and then further north
02:33will change again as the cloud spills in. The next weather system, bringing some rain into Western
02:37Scotland by dawn on Sunday. With more cloud here, it won't be as cold, but further south,
02:42as the cold front clears away, it will be a fresher start to Sunday with temperatures down into single
02:47figures. As well as that cooler start with the light winds, there will be some mist and fog around.
02:51Could take a while to clear as well over parts of eastern England, potential for some dense patches
02:56of fog, certainly for the first half of the morning. Much of the northern half of the UK will be
03:02cloudy
03:02on Sunday with rain and drizzle on and off. Bit of a messy one, really. Most persistent rain in
03:08Western Scotland, some brighter spells at times in northeastern Scotland. Much of northern England,
03:13dry and bright as well, but again, some rain on and off, particularly over Cumbria.
03:17The odd shower coming into Wales, but a good chunk of England and Wales having a likely fine,
03:22sunny Sunday. The wind's light and temperatures going up a degree or so. Again, we could be into
03:27the 20s, perhaps as high as 22, 23 degrees across the southeastern corner. Even further north, yes,
03:34it'll be cloudy and breezy with some rain, but temperatures here also above the average. Been
03:38quite a mild start to October, to say the least. We're going to continue to see the weather patterns
03:43chopping and change. Even there are some signs of things turning a little cooler as we go through
03:47the middle part of next week. For more on that, keep up to date with everything from the Met Office.
