12 April - National morning forecast presented by Kathryn Chalk.
Transcript
00:00Good morning, it's much of the same today with sunny spells and frequent blustery April
00:05showers.
00:06However, it is largely fine and dry initially across the East Midlands, East Anglia and
00:11the South East of England, plenty of sunshine to start.
00:15To the West though, that's where we've got the frequent blustery showers moving through,
00:19especially across Devon, Cornwall, into the Midlands, into Wales and then eventually into
00:24eastern parts.
00:25So actually we'll see more in the way of showers on Sunday compared to Saturday, but
00:30most frequent showers always closest to the area of low pressure across Scotland and into
00:35Northern Ireland and all of these showers could turn heavy at times with gusty winds and also
00:41some hail and some thunder mixed in.
00:43The strongest winds really confined to the North West of Scotland, lighter winds compared
00:48to Saturday to the South and highs here of up to 13 or 14 degrees but still feeling chilly
00:55when exposed to those brisk winds.
00:58Now as we head through this evening and overnight, the area of low pressure to the north of Scotland
01:03will start clearing its way northwards.
01:06So showers persisting especially across Scotland, but elsewhere the showers will be easing as we
01:11go overnight.
01:12There'll still be a few across coastal areas, but inland clearer skies developing, lighter winds
01:18so there will be some isolated mist and fog patches but also turning chilly.
01:22We'll see a touch of frost as we start Monday morning.
01:25So a chilly start to Monday morning, but much lighter winds and much calmer than that of
01:32the weekend.
01:33So many of us should wake up to some sunshine.
01:36Now as we head into the afternoon though, the cloud will start bubbling up and we'll see
01:42further showers developing.
01:44Again, the showers still could turn heavy with the odd rumble of thunder and actually slow
01:49moving compared to those of the weekend weather quickly rattling their way through.
01:55Otherwise in the sunshine, given the lighter winds, if you dodge a shower, hopefully feeling
01:59a little bit pleasant, highs of up to 13 or 14 degrees.
02:05Now as we head into Tuesday, it's still going to be a chilly start, largely drier and then
02:10as we head into midweek, turning more unsettled but also warmer.
