13 April - National afternoon forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth.
Transcript
00:00Good afternoon, another day of sunshine and showers to come. It was quite a bright start
00:05though this morning and a chilly one at that. We were down below minus two across parts of
00:09southern England, Scotland as well as northern Ireland. But there is plenty of sunshine out
00:14there to start the day. This was the satellite picture from this morning. Cloud will thicken
00:19through this afternoon however so I hope you made the most of that early sunshine. And through the
00:24rest of the day we'll start to see cloud moving in from the west. That's because we're expecting
00:29a front to move in tomorrow. But showers will bubble up through this afternoon as well as
00:34that cloud. I think showers will be longest lived across parts of southern Scotland, central
00:39Scotland in particular. Some heavy downpours likely here but you could also see these across
00:43parts of Wales, north Wales, northwest England too. And I think many areas even along the
00:48south coast could catch the odd shower. But there will be some drier and brighter weather
00:52in between. Some sunshine as well into this afternoon. The winds are a little bit lighter
00:57today compared to over the weekend. So it will feel a little bit warmer. Highs of around 15
01:02to 16 degrees in the southeast in those low teens for many of us elsewhere. We've got southerly
01:08winds moving in a slightly milder direction and that milder theme does stay with us through
01:13the rest of this week. So a clear start to the night for many of us. Those showers should fade
01:18away.
01:19So dry, clear skies for many of us. That will allow temperatures to fall away quite widely
01:24across many eastern areas. We are expecting a touch of frost once again. Mostly for rural areas
01:30across more of the northeast. But I think some central areas of England could see a touch of
01:35frost in many towns and cities in those low single figures to start the day. Except for in the southwest
01:40where there's clouds already arrived by tomorrow morning. So a damp start across parts of Wales,
01:45southwest England and northern Ireland. And that cloud and rain will push up northwards through the
01:50day into parts of southern Scotland, central areas of England and just escaping the far southeast of
01:56England and the very far north of Scotland by the end of the day. So here's some brighter skies,
02:01not feeling too bad at all in that sunshine. Highs of 16, 17 degrees possibly in the mid-teens across
02:07the
02:07far north of Scotland as well. But for most of us it's going to be mild but quite cloudy and
02:12a bit damp,
02:13particularly across parts of the coast, the high ground as well. I think that's where you're most
02:17exciting to see some rain through Tuesday. And those conditions continue through Tuesday evening,
02:22a bit of an overcast dull evening to come. Some heavier bursts of rain are possible,
02:26particularly across the southwest. And that cloud and rain sticks with us through Tuesday evening
02:31into Wednesday as well. But if you're interested in your full week's forecast, well, why not check out
02:36our latest week ahead with Alex Deacon on YouTube. Have a great day. Bye-bye.
