13 April - National evening forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, there's been some pretty beefy showers out there today. Those should start to fade away through tonight.
00:06We're in for another quite clear and cold night this evening as a ridge of high pressure comes in just
00:11for a time to fade away those showers.
00:13They're still going to continue for more northern areas for quite a time, however.
00:17So clear skies for the first part of the night for much of the UK.
00:20That will allow temperatures to fall away very close to freezing, if not a little bit below,
00:25particularly across more northeastern areas of England, some parts of central England at risk of seeing a touch of frost
00:31by tomorrow morning.
00:32You'll notice it's much milder down to the south and west.
00:35That's because the next batch of cloud and rain will have moved in here by tomorrow morning.
00:40So a pretty damp start to the day for parts of South Wales, southwestern England and then later on into
00:44Northern Ireland.
00:45That rain will push it further north and east through the day, but ahead of it, a decent spell of
00:50sunshine.
00:50Another bright but chilly start to the day and plenty of sunshine until at least lunchtime, I'd say, for many
00:56northern and eastern areas of the country.
00:58And with southerly winds moving in, we've got milder air.
01:01So despite the lack of sunshine into the afternoon, it will feel a little bit warmer, actually.
01:06Temperatures close to the mid-teens for many of us and in any sunshine higher than that.
01:11That's particularly across the far southeast of England, but also the north coast of Scotland.
01:15The Moray Firth in particular could see temperatures closer to the higher teens through Tuesday afternoon.
01:21Now, a mild night to come on Tuesday night, but a cloudy and damp one.
01:25We could see some quite heavy spells of rain through Tuesday night through the early hours of Wednesday.
01:30Notice those brighter colours in the rain.
01:32That denotes the heavier bursts.
01:35Also some quite brisk southwesterly winds to come as well.
01:38And with all that, it's going to be a mild night.
01:4111 degrees, 12 degrees for some of us to start the day.
01:44Quite mild for the time of year, but much milder than it has been lately.
01:48This is how the temperatures compare to recent temperatures.
01:51A good 10 degrees for some areas, warmer to start the day.
01:55But plenty of cloud and rain through the day, pushing up from the south and west.
02:00And again, we could see some further heavy spells of rain, particularly as this band comes through.
02:05This front here pushes through parts of the west and the north of the UK through the middle part of
02:11the afternoon.
02:12And that could bring some very hefty downpours and some quite gusty winds as well.
02:16Behind it, heavy showers push into parts of Northern Ireland and then the southwest later on.
02:22But with milder air still with us, a bit more sunshine around, temperatures coming closer to the higher teens for
02:28a few more areas,
02:29particularly across the northeast of England, southeast of Scotland and again the far north of Scotland.
02:34That's where we could see temperatures as high as 19 degrees on Wednesday.
02:39A fresher feel further south and west, particularly where we've got those brisk southwesterly winds.
02:44But still plenty of sunshine and it doesn't feel half bad in the sunshine at this time of year.
