00:00Hello, welcome to your afternoon weather update from the Met Office.
00:03A cool breeze blowing out there today.
00:05Tomorrow offers something a little bit milder.
00:08The bigger picture shows, well, a bit of a gap in the clouds way out in the Atlantic.
00:12This arch being dominated or created by a large area of high pressure sitting down to the south.
00:18Around the top of it, weather systems are trying to topple in.
00:22So there's a bit of a battle going on.
00:24But ahead of it, we've got this speckled cloud.
00:26That's the showers that have been feeding in on a northwesterly breeze.
00:29They'll continue to push down into northwest England.
00:32A few crossing the Midlands into East Anglia, the odd one close by to London.
00:36Certainly plenty of showers packing in across northern Scotland on a pretty stiff wind blowing here.
00:41But the morning showers have gone now for Northern Ireland.
00:44So dry here and for Wales and much of southwest England dry with a mixture of cloud and sunny spells
00:50through the rest of today.
00:51Not particularly warm out there.
00:53Temperatures around or a touch below average 9, 10.
00:56Maybe getting into the teens along the south coast.
00:59If the sun does pop out.
01:00But add on that wind, which is most notable across the north.
01:04And it feels more like 5 or 6 degrees.
01:06So that is quite a brisk and chilly feel out there through the rest of today.
01:10As we go through the evening, still a few showers.
01:12Just getting into East Anglia, maybe Kent and still across the northeast of Scotland.
01:16Then thicker cloud from that weather front we saw earlier pushes in.
01:20Bringing a lot of thick cloud across Northern Ireland, Western Scotland and eventually through the early hours into Western parts
01:26of England and Wales.
01:27And particularly over the hills around coast we'll see some outbreaks of mostly light rain and drizzle coming in.
01:33But many central and eastern areas staying dry.
01:35Quite a bit milder than last night.
01:38On to Tuesday and it will be a little bit warmer.
01:41But quite a grey and in places quite dank and drizzly start.
01:45Outbreaks of rain and drizzle over the highlands.
01:47Some over parts of northwest England, Wales and southwest England too.
01:51We may even see a little bit of drizzly rain.
01:53Light showers moving into parts of eastern England for a time.
01:56But overall, it should get a bit drier through the day and it should start to brighten up.
02:00I'm hopeful the cloud will break up in a few places to reveal some sunny spells.
02:05And the wind's lighter for most.
02:07Still a brisk breeze in the northwest.
02:09But it'll feel quite a bit milder than today, I suspect, with those temperatures getting up to 13, 14, 15
02:15degrees.
02:16And a few places with a bit of sunshine, say, parts of southeast England, northeast Scotland, could get to 16
02:21or even 17 degrees Celsius.
02:23So quite a mild feeling day through Tuesday.
02:26Still, let's say, the odd light shower here and there into the evening, but most places will be dry.
02:32And then you'll notice there is some rain gathering up to the northwest.
02:36An angry-looking weather front tied into a low pressure that's way out to the north.
02:40But that weather front will drive its way southwards through the latter part of the week, turning things a bit
02:46cooler for Thursday.
02:47And then eyes out in the Atlantic because things are brewing.
02:50This area of low pressure needs watching, likely to arrive for Good Friday.
02:54It could bring us a spell of wet and particularly windy weather.
02:58It's got a long way to travel.
02:59It's got to develop.
03:00And this is a few days ahead.
03:02But certainly something we're keeping an eye on for the long Easter weekend.
03:07So make sure you stay up to date with the forecast through this week.
