11 April - National evening forecast presented by Kathryn Chalk.
Transcript
00:00Hello, we have further showers persisting through this evening and into tomorrow all
00:05to do with low pressure dominating and this is that area of low pressure that's continuing
00:10to dominate through this evening and overnight. We have a real squeeze in the ice bars especially
00:15across the Irish Sea and across northwestern Scotland where we could see coastal gales.
00:20As we head into Monday though that pushes its way northwards, ice bars really spread out
00:25so lighter winds to come on Monday but you can see there's still a few showers in the mix.
00:31But back to the rest of this evening then largely dry initially across East Anglia,
00:36northeastern England and the far southeast but closest to this area of low pressure we just have
00:41further showers pushing their way through. Some of these are going to be heavy with the odd rumble of
00:46thunder and some hail mixed in as well. Strongest winds really running up the Irish Sea and then
00:52across northwestern Scotland so coastal gales here and with the strength of the winds that will help
00:58to keep those temperatures up this evening and overnight so holding up at around 5 to 7 degrees
01:04to start Sunday morning. But it is a largely dry start across much of the Midlands, East Anglia and
01:11towards the far southeast. It won't last too long though we have a rash of showers already arriving
01:16across Devon and Cornwall into Wales eventually into the Midlands and towards the far east of
01:22England. So more in the way of showers to come through Sunday compared to Saturday. Again,
01:28still frequent blustery showers continuing across Scotland, Northern Ireland and to the north of
01:34England as well. Again, some of these could merge to give longer spells of rain still with the risk
01:39of hail and some thunder. Strongest winds through the morning, otherwise lighter winds to the south of
01:46the UK. Here temperatures up at around 13 or 14 degrees, always feeling chilliest underneath the
01:53strong winds across the north. Now as we head through Sunday evening that area of low pressure
01:59continues to push its way northwards. So showers still persisting across Scotland, perhaps even wintry
02:05over the highest ground. But inland areas actually those showers will start easing as we go overnight and
02:12actually we'll see largely clear skies inland. That'll allow temperatures to fall, we could see some mist and
02:18fog patches but also a touch of frost to start first thing on Monday morning. So much chillier start
02:25out there but also generally a calmer picture compared to the weekend. There's still a few showers around
02:32especially across coastal areas but plenty of sunshine inland as we start the day. Otherwise the cloud will
02:38start bubbling up and we'll start to see firth showers developing. Some of these are still going
02:43to be on the heavy side but much lighter winds so actually quite slow moving. Otherwise highs similar to
02:49previous days around 13 to 14 degrees. Now as we go into Tuesday it's going to be drier and a
02:57chillier start
02:58but turning more unsettled again on Wednesday but also warmer. For all of the details make sure to hit
