08 April - National morning forecast presented by Clare Nasir.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to a Wednesday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Today will be warm for many, fine and mostly dry, and some exceptionally high temperatures towards the southeast where we
00:10could see 26 degrees Celsius.
00:12The winds are fairly light, this is a weakening weather front, so through the morning any patchy rain across Scotland
00:18will tend to fade away.
00:19Through the day not a lot of change, but notice towards the west this system will come in, and that
00:25means a marked contrast in how it's going to feel through tomorrow.
00:28For the time being, still some patchy rain across Shetland, spits and spots for Orkney, western Scotland as well, particularly
00:35across the northwest Highlands, and where the cloud is thick enough for Northern Ireland, you're seeing a little rain.
00:40Brighter skies further east across Aberdeenshire down towards Northumberland, much of England and Wales seeing that fine weather, a bit
00:46chilly in places to start this morning, but the sun will rise and temperatures will respond very nicely.
00:53So through the morning, this weakening weather front here will still cause a little bit of clouds and some patchy
01:00rain, but it will ease, which means a drying process and some hazy sunshine through the afternoon as the cloud
01:06breaks up.
01:06A fine day across England and Wales, eastern Scotland as well, with some sunshine, now UV levels will be moderate,
01:15and pollen levels, that's tree pollen, will be very high, that's worth remembering if you are out and about this
01:21afternoon, and temperatures.
01:23Well, 26 for the home counties elsewhere across England and Wales, pretty much into the 20s, although for the far
01:30north of England, far southern parts of Scotland, eastern Scotland, you'll see an 18, 18 along the western side of
01:36Wales as well.
01:36For Northern Ireland, with some bright skies, 17 degrees Celsius, winds will be lighter than yesterday, and 13 or 14
01:44across this northwestern portion here, so temperatures not as high, at least though you'll see some drier weather through the
01:51afternoon.
01:52So a fine afternoon to come, a fine evening as well, very warm towards the southeast, and as we head
01:59through into night time, this cloud will roll in from the west, so thickening cloud.
02:04Here's that weather front, the winds will eventually pick up as that rain pushes in.
02:09We'll see drier weather across England and Wales, although the cloud thickening across eastern Scotland, some cloud then moving in
02:17across Wales, and we could see some rain breaking out into the early hours of the morning towards the west
02:23there.
02:23But the more persistent bursts of rain will be across northern Ireland and western Scotland with a keen breeze, and
02:31so that rain could be heavy in places, and all of this is pushing in.
02:35A bright start to the day, eastern parts of the midlands, east Anglia, central southern England, the southeast, you'll catch
02:42some sunshine through the morning, and even east Yorkshire through the first part of the day.
02:47However, through the morning, you can see generally cloudy skies further west as this weather front trundles eastwards, bringing with
02:54it that cloud and that rain.
02:56Behind, we'll see blustery showers. The air will be colder. These showers could actually fall as rain or hail even,
03:04but we hang on to the brighter weather anywhere from the midlands southeastwards.
03:08And here, temperatures creeping up into the 20s. Elsewhere, 13, 14, 10, 11 towards the back edge there, where you
03:14see a change in wind direction and certainly those blustery showers.
03:19So, some wet weather to end the day, northern England, central and eastern areas of Scotland, northern Scotland right towards
03:24the top there, down towards the west, you'll see those showers feeding in.
03:28So, all in all, through Thursday, yes, it's going to feel colder away from the southeast.
03:33There's going to be more cloud and rain around, and those temperatures will be lower as well.
03:38So, let's pick up on the bigger picture. So, through Thursday, here's that cold front. You can see the blues
03:43migrating eastwards, extending their way towards the low countries.
03:48A bit of a ridge into Friday morning, some bright skies to start the day before this showery rain moves
03:53in.
03:54This low pressure area will remain towards the northwest. Elsewhere, showers will continue through the day.
03:58So, that's the weather for the next few days.
04:01If you want details of the extended forecast, check it out later on YouTube, and that's our 10-day trend.
