This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the weekend 01/10/2026. This weekend starts fine and dry for many with sunny intervals, as cloud and rain will fade in the south. Windy and showery in the far northwest. Fog patches in the south into Sunday morning, and here some fine weather, but rain will be persistent for parts of western Scotland with strong winds, and cloudy with patchy rain in the west across other parts of the north. 00:00Hello there, welcome to your weekend weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Some warmth in the air through the weekend, we are chasing cloud a little bit, some sunshine
00:09coming through and also some rain, so a bit of everything to be honest.
00:13Into the early hours of Saturday morning, this weather front here, which produced some
00:17higher rainfall totals across the north as well as the west, is pushing southwards.
00:22Still some patchy rain on it as we head into the weekend and also some cloud.
00:26More of a breeze across the far north of Scotland here, but elsewhere a lighter wind to start
00:32the day.
00:33If you're stepping out first thing then across the north of Scotland you may encounter a shower
00:36on Saturday morning.
00:38A brisk breeze across the northwest, some outbreaks of rain for the Hebrides, more cloud across
00:43much of Scotland where you see clearer skies overnight into the weekend, a cooler start
00:48to the day.
00:49That will be the case for Northern Ireland, Northern England, the far north of Wales.
00:52Here's that weather front with some patchy rain on it and then further south and southeast
00:57you'll see some brighter skies to start the day with some sunshine.
01:01This weather front is slow moving, even so the rain will be sporadic, some dry skies,
01:06the cloud breaking at times, but through the afternoon we could find one or two sharp showers
01:10towards the southwest.
01:12For most of England and Wales though, it's a dry day.
01:15Northern Ireland, southern and eastern Scotland also fine with some sunshine coming through.
01:20Now through the morning we'll see some showery bursts, particularly across the northwest
01:25highlands, the Northern Isles, the Western Isles and also that fresh southwest wind.
01:30Those showers will continue through the afternoon, becoming more fleeting later on in the day.
01:35At the same time, you can see this cloud tending to roll in towards the southeast but it will
01:40break up as well.
01:41So through the afternoon many areas seeing some warm weather, some bright skies if not some
01:47sunshine.
01:47A lighter breeze away from the north and the west has got a northern island, a bit more
01:51of a breeze here, but a fine afternoon to come.
01:55Let's pick up on those temperatures through the afternoon then, 22 towards the southeast
01:59of England, 17 to 19 across the bulk of central parts of the UK but towards the northwest a
02:04different feel to things, that wind, more cloud and passing showers probably 13 or 14 degrees
02:10Celsius.
02:11Now through Saturday night, with high pressure casting an influence across more central and
02:15southern areas, expect some mist and fog patches.
02:18The wind picks up further north, some moisture in the air as well, a bit gusty over the hills
02:23there and so with this moisture we can see more on the way of cloud and also some Apache
02:27rain, certainly some more persistent rain across more northern and western areas through Sunday
02:32morning.
02:33So here's that wet weather across the northwest, some rain edging in across Northern Ireland, certainly
02:38over the hills and over the hills in Northern England as well as Wales could see some rain
02:43in the breeze.
02:44Brighter skies further south and east after that fog lifts through the morning, the clouds
02:48could come and go across central and eastern areas of England but the rain will continue
02:52to pile up, particularly across the western parts of Scotland through into the afternoon.
02:57So through the afternoon it looks like this, yes a fair amount of cloud, brighter breaks
03:02further south and east, in shelter it's going to feel warm and we may even see a rain
03:06shadow across eastern parts of Scotland through the afternoon, where temperatures could reach
03:1118 degrees Celsius in shelter if you find some drier weather, a similar situation for eastern
03:17and southeastern areas of Northern Ireland, eastern parts of England as well.
03:22But across the Midlands towards the southeast, 20 to 23 Celsius, yes warm, higher than average
03:27temperatures and not a bad day further southwest as well as that cloud breaks up at times allowing
03:32for some sunny intervals.
03:34So all in all there's some rain around as we head through the weekend but also some fine
03:39weather wherever you are.
03:40Have a great weekend and I'll see you again soon.
03:42Order on the volunteering with the importance of your understanding with the strength and strength .
