00:00As you've probably noticed, big changes with the weather today.
00:03It's an awful lot cloud here and an awful lot cooler.
00:06The view from space shows a big stripe of cloud that's been moving in.
00:10Ahead of it, we had some sunshine in the morning across East Anglia and the southeast,
00:14but even here, slowly clouding over through the afternoon.
00:17Following on behind that line of cloud, we've got hundreds, if not thousands,
00:21of miles of speckles on the satellite image.
00:24These are all showers packing in.
00:26There's also a ridge of high pressure and a developing area of low pressure.
00:29Plenty going on, and that all tells us the weather's going to be barely mixed over the next few days.
00:35Well, let's get back to today.
00:37There's that cloud that's been slowly spilling in, providing some outbreaks of rain over northern England
00:41on that cold front, pushing into the Midlands as well, turning a bit damp.
00:46The rain band breaking up a little bit, so the rain won't be persistent,
00:50but it'll be a fairly damp afternoon across much of Lincolnshire down into the east Midlands.
00:54Maybe one or two showers across East Anglia and the southeast,
00:56but here we'll hang on to the brightest weather for longest.
00:59Then it brightens up further west, with some sunny spells developing for Wales and southwest England,
01:05but lots of those showers that we saw already packing in across Scotland and Northern Ireland,
01:09with some sunny spells in between being pushed in on a fairly stiff and gusty wind,
01:14which is bringing a chillier feel.
01:15Temperatures only in single figures on the west coast of Scotland,
01:19feeling colder when the showers come along.
01:21Now, it has turned a lot chillier for most places.
01:24These numbers, 7, 8, 9 degrees lower than they were yesterday, if not even more in some locations,
01:29but there's still some warmth with a change in wind direction coming in from the west.
01:34Parts of the Kent coast and the East Anglia coastline are a bit warmer than yesterday, actually.
01:38We could still get into the 20s here, at least for a time.
01:41But even here, clouding over into the evening with some outbreaks of light rain,
01:45but that all clears through.
01:47In many places, we'll have lengthy clear spells through the night.
01:50Showers over Northern England, North Wales tending to fade.
01:52The showers will keep going for a good part of the night across Northern Ireland and Western Scotland,
01:56but even here, tending to fade through the early hours.
01:59Those showers will have snow mixed in over the hills.
02:03Further south, we'll see some high clouds spilling in, so it won't be completely clear here,
02:09but for much of Northern England, Scotland, lengthy clear skies, the winds will ease down a little bit.
02:14That will allow it to turn quite chilly everywhere, well down into single digits.
02:18So a lot colder than last night, and the blue hue on the chart suggesting some frost likely,
02:24certainly rural parts of Northern England and Scotland, perhaps even Northern Ireland too.
02:28But quite quickly clouding over in the morning, I suspect, for Northern Ireland, Wales and South West England.
02:33That cloud thick enough for a little bit of drizzly rain, maybe in Pembrokeshire, Devon and Cornwall.
02:38We may see some outbreaks of rain working more widely over South Wales,
02:42South West England in the afternoon, certainly expecting it to turn wet and very windy in Northern Ireland by the
02:48end of the day.
02:49But for many places, it'll be a dry and a bright day on Friday.
02:52Yes, hazy sunshine, the breeze will slowly pick up, and it'll certainly be a lot chillier than it was yesterday.
02:59Temperatures only in single figures across Scotland.
03:01We might squeak into the teens with some brightness across East Anglia and the South East,
03:05but it'll get quite a bit chillier here than today too.
03:08And maybe only seven or eight degrees in parts of Northern Ireland as it clouds over quickly here and turns
03:13wet and very windy.
03:14The wind's really whipping up right around these western coasts of England, Wales, the west coast of Scotland,
03:19but particularly for Northern Ireland, some heavy bursts of rain moving in here.
03:22So a pretty unpleasant Friday evening across Northern Ireland.
03:26That rain and the strong winds will work into western Scotland as we go through Friday evening as well.
03:31I'll need to watch that band of wet and windy weather, all tied into that developing area of low pressure,
03:36which is likely to dominate our weather.
03:38Sitting up to the northwest through the weekend, plenty of isobars on the chart.
03:41It's going to be blustery with a mixture of sunshine and showers.
03:44For more on that, you'll want our full weekend video.
03:47That'll be available on our YouTube channel on Thursday afternoon.
