00:00Hello again. After a largely fine Friday comes a rather soggy and surprisingly windy Saturday,
00:07all thanks to an area of low pressure that's been intensifying out in the Atlantic.
00:11It's stopped intensifying, but it's still going to bring us a spell of wet and unseasonably windy conditions,
00:17particularly around the south and the eastern side of this low,
00:21as the gusts of wind pick up over South Wales and southwest England through the night.
00:25We can see the wet weather also moving in during the evening into Wales, southwest England.
00:30A few showers ahead of this zone of rain, and that wet weather will spread across Northern Ireland pretty much
00:36before midnight,
00:37then into parts of southern Scotland, across the Midlands, and into most of England by the time we get to
00:42dawn on Saturday morning.
00:44And the wind's, as I say, really picking up in this zone over South Wales and southwest England.
00:48Some very strong gusts, unusually gusty for this time of the year.
00:51With the wet and windy weather, it won't be a cold night, quite a mild night across the southern half
00:56of the UK.
00:57Some clearer skies across Northern Scotland may allow temperatures to dip down to single figures for sure,
01:02but it does mean actually parts of the Murray Firth, Caithness, Sutherlands, the Northern Isles dry and bright
01:07for a good part of Saturday morning with some sunny spells.
01:10Could see a zone of sunnier weather appear over parts of the Midlands, North Wales, southeast England,
01:15after starting off quite wet.
01:17But it's these winds, as I said, accompanied by some heavy downpours over South Wales and southwest England
01:23that are, you know, just a cause for concern.
01:25If you've got big events planned on Saturday, then these winds really could be quite significant and may cause a
01:31few issues.
01:32So the wet and windy weather will continue to spiral around the area of low pressure, the first band of
01:37rain,
01:38easing off a little bit as it approaches southern Scotland, northern England.
01:41So it may not be too wet here.
01:43In the south, there's some heavy thundery showers possible, particularly over Wales,
01:47but also Northern Ireland could see some lively downpours through the afternoon,
01:51suddenly moving through some hail and thunder mixed in here.
01:55Parts of South Wales, southwest England stay blustery, but I'm hopeful here.
01:59I think most of the downpours will be clearing through come the afternoon into the evening.
02:03So we should see some late sunshine, but it'll still feel cool with the gusty winds.
02:07Most places struggling to get up to average for the time of year, might sneak up to 18 or 19
02:12in the east
02:13in the sunny spells between the showers, but everywhere feeling cooler with the winds,
02:18which remain quite lively, quite gusty.
02:20Still some heavy downpours to clear from Northern Ireland through the evening.
02:23Northern England, down into the Midlands, could see some pretty intense rain showers for a time on Saturday evening.
02:29So bear that in mind if you are heading out.
02:31It all tends to clear away out into the North Sea and it's generally becoming a bit calmer and a
02:36bit drier
02:36as we go through the early hours of Sunday morning.
02:39But then for Sunday itself, there's another weather system approaching
02:42and it's, again, going to bring some fairly gusty winds.
02:46This time more likely across Northern Ireland and Western Scotland.
02:49Certainly that's the strongest winds are likely to be on Sunday,
02:52but still quite breezy around the west coast of Wales and southwest of England after a brief lull.
02:56Some heavier rain again, as you can see, these brighter colours.
03:00So parts of southwest Scotland, northwest England, Northern Ireland, seeing the heavier rain on Sunday.
03:05Whereas much of eastern England stays dry, we should see some sunshine as well.
03:09And it's going to be a bit warmer in this zone as well.
03:11With a bit more sunshine, with lighter winds, we'll be feeling quite a bit warmer.
03:1421, 22 is possible.
03:16Whereas in the west, with a brisk wind and outbreaks of rain, we are, again, looking at 15 or 16
03:22Celsius.
03:22Fairly mixed picture as we head into next week as well.
