00:00Hi again. This time last week it felt like summer for some of us but it's been more like
00:04autumn today in the south-west of England and that's been courtesy of a fairly unseasonably
00:09deep area of low pressure that's been affecting the south of the UK today. That's now clearing
00:13away into the North Sea but it's going to stay pretty unsettled and changeable through
00:17much of the week ahead. These pink colours here indicate the jet stream which is a driver
00:21to our weather quite often and will certainly be the case over the next few days too. Now
00:25it's quite meridional, quite wavy in nature as we go through the first part of the coming
00:29week and as that interacts with this wiggling weather front on Monday it is going to bring
00:34a few uncertainties in the forecast. So as to just how quickly it clears away from England
00:38and Wales later on Monday a bit of uncertainty in the forecast there but as you can see as
00:43we go towards Tuesday and Wednesday the jet stream stays close to the UK and these weather
00:47fronts through the middle of the week will act as a focus for some more organised and heavier
00:51showers and possibly some thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday too. So certainly an unsettled
00:56flavour to the weather in the week ahead and that's certainly the case out there this evening
00:59too. Quite a lot of cloud around for many of us, some showery outbreaks of rain but the
01:03most persistent rain will tend to ease and clear away. Perhaps not so though across the
01:08far north east of Scotland where it will stay generally somewhat wetter through the course
01:11of tonight and out across Northern Ireland we'll start to see some heavier bursts of rain returning
01:15from the Atlantic as we go towards the morning. But for most it will turn a little bit dry
01:19as I say. In the east we should see some fairly prolonged clear periods so possibly temperatures
01:24just dipping down into the high single figures in rural areas here. But for most of us the winds
01:28will ease down and temperatures will stay just about in double figures. Now I will say a little bit
01:33breezier through the Irish Sea. The winds here coming in from a southerly direction so a milder source of
01:39air and tomorrow will actually be a warmer day for all of us. But it will be wet for some
01:43particularly across
01:44Northern Ireland in the morning. The rain also quite heavy across western parts of Scotland and some central areas too.
01:50But not a washout. There will be some dry interludes at times too.
01:54We tend to pep up though across parts of north western England. Wales in particular as well through the afternoon.
01:59So turning a little bit damper as we go through the day here.
02:03The best of the weather, Germany speaking, on Sunday will be across more eastern areas. The sunshine is turning a
02:08little bit hazy perhaps but it should still remain pretty bright well into the afternoon.
02:13Now for all of us tomorrow it will be a warmer day compared to on Saturday. Temperatures widely into the
02:19high teens and low 20s across England and Wales.
02:22Somewhat fresher there across the very far northwest of Scotland and also Northern Ireland. But at least here there will
02:27be some late afternoon sunshine.
02:29Now this graphic just shows how different the temperatures will be on Sunday compared to on Saturday. And you can
02:34see that for most of us temperatures are going to be higher by one to three degrees Celsius.
02:38But for parts of East Anglia and perhaps Essex in the southeast we could be seeing temperatures five degrees or
02:43so higher than on Saturday.
02:45Perhaps 23 or even 24 in one or two spots. So a much warmer day to come.
02:51Now as you go through Sunday evening the rain continues in the north and the west and it will start
02:55to erratically and slowly move its way south eastwards across England and Wales too.
02:59Always heaviest tending to be across the high ground in the west. So for example the Cumbrian Fells, the high
03:06ground of Wales.
03:06Really seeing some quite heavy bursts of rain shown here by these lively colours of yellow. So some pretty wet
03:12and windy weather actually out and about on Sunday night.
03:16Bits and pieces of rain elsewhere too but at this stage nothing too heavy.
03:20Following clear skies and showers across the northwest and here temperatures are going to fall quite a bit lower.
03:26So in the countryside where we can see temperatures down to mid-single figures.
03:29Possibly even low enough for a touch of grass frost believe it or not in the glens of Scotland.
03:33But for most elsewhere 12 or 13 degrees widely across England and Wales.
03:38So a pretty mild start to the day on Monday for most of England and Wales but it will be
03:42a fairly damp if not wet one for many.
03:45Outbreaks of rain through much of the day slowly tending to push away towards the east.
03:50But still the potential for some really quite intense bursts of rain through the day and into the afternoon for
03:55eastern England on Monday.
03:57Otherwise though much brighter skies will follow from the west.
03:59Quite a rash of showers though particularly for Northern Ireland into the afternoon.
04:04Possibly even the odd heavier one with the odd rumble of thunder.
04:07But certainly a drier brighter end to the day for many western areas compared to the morning.
04:12Temperatures will be down compared to on Sunday for most of us.
04:15But it should still feel pleasant enough in any sunny spells in the west.
04:18Quite a bit lower though for eastern parts of England.
04:21Highs generally only 17 to 19 degrees Celsius here.
04:24So a pretty changeable picture over the next few days.
