00:00Today has been the warmest day of the week. Temperatures into the high teens.
00:05The air turns colder through tomorrow as a weather front pushes south eastwards
00:09and then the weather remains unsettled into the bank holiday weekend.
00:14You can see the warmth in the air through today and there were some brighter breaks.
00:18This is a band of rain though pushing ever south eastwards, weakening all the while behind a ridge of high
00:23pressure.
00:24And what that means into Thursday morning, a fairly widespread frost before more bands of cloud and rain with strong
00:31winds arrive
00:31through Good Friday and into the weekend. More about that in a moment.
00:36For the time being, some clearer skies, particularly across central and eastern areas, so we could see some fog patches
00:42forming here.
00:43It's a bit damp across the highlands of Scotland as well as Northern Ireland with cloud and the cloud will
00:48thicken all the while
00:49as this band of more persistent rain moves in and the winds pick up so we could see gales along
00:54the coastline.
00:55Lowest temperatures probably down towards the southeast where we could see four or five degrees south.
01:00It's a bit chilly as we start the day. Aberdeenshire probably also seeing mid single figures.
01:05Further west, eight or nine with the cloud as well as the rain.
01:08But you'll notice the temperature really taking a dive through tomorrow as that rain clears.
01:13So some brighter weather to start the day, particularly across eastern Scotland, much of England and also eastern parts of
01:21Wales.
01:21The cloud always thicker further west.
01:24And notice it's wet and windy as we arrive on Wednesday morning across the northwest of Scotland,
01:29extending towards Northern Ireland, the Northern Isles and eventually the central bowels as we head through to lunchtime.
01:35Brighter weather comes and goes across England and Wales.
01:37But through the afternoon, you'll find some rain arriving across Cumbria, Lancashire, the Isle of Man and then eventually Anglesey,
01:45perhaps even Gwynedd.
01:46Here are your temperatures as well.
01:48By 5, 3, 4, 5 o'clock in the afternoon, temperatures taking a dive across the far northwest of Scotland,
01:54five or six degrees Celsius with a cold northerly wind.
01:57Temperatures also falling across Northern Ireland with some showers following showers for western Scotland.
02:02Here's that band of rain covering much of southern Scotland.
02:05Eastern Scotland seeing the remnants of it, although that northerly wind kicking in there.
02:10But we're hanging on to temperatures probably around 12 to 14 Celsius across much of England and Wales, as well
02:16as southern Scotland.
02:17And as I said, it is going to turn colder through Wednesday evening and overnight.
02:22Some bright weather to end the day across central and eastern areas.
02:26And this is that band of rain which will gradually push into England and Wales through Wednesday evening.
02:32The rain could be heavy through evening time across eastern Scotland, but there is a clearance coming through and some
02:39showers filing in from behind.
02:41But they won't be frequent because a ridge is extending, keeping temperatures fairly low, but also not a lot of
02:48rain or showers around as that rain weakens as it pushes towards the southeast through the early hours of Thursday
02:54morning.
02:54So here are your temperatures as you enter the day on Thursday.
02:59Sub-zero across many parts of the north.
03:01We could see some pockets of frost in shelter across Wales as well as central parts of England.
03:07More of a breeze to start the morning across eastern counties of England as well as Scotland.
03:13But some fine weather coming through, some sunshine.
03:15That sunshine turning rather hazy across Scotland and Northern Ireland as well.
03:19And notice this band of rain attempting to push in by lunchtime and into the afternoon.
03:24So through the afternoon, you'll see some wet and windy weather.
03:27Certainly those winds picking up again Northern Ireland.
03:30But for the bulk of Scotland, you'll see some drier weather to end the day and certainly some sunshine around.
03:35But the temperatures won't be as high.
03:38The air is colder after a bit of a frosty start.
03:40So coming in probably around 9 to 13 degrees Celsius.
03:45But we've lost the breeze across that east coast, so probably quite a pleasant evening to come on Thursday across
03:51these parts.
03:52But it will be a wet and windy evening on Thursday across Northern Ireland as well as western Scotland.
03:57And that rain then skirts its way eastwards and southwards as we head into Good Friday.
04:04Into Good Friday, that's the system moving off the scene.
04:07Another one then moves in.
04:09The winds will pick up.
04:10Some uncertainty about the distribution of the strongest winds as well as the rain.
04:13But the weather will remain unsettled as we head through the latter part of the Easter bank holiday as well.
04:20We'll keep you posted on the weather.
