29 March - National Morning Forecast presented by Greg Dewhurst.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good morning, welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office.
00:04All of us seeing some rain through the course of the day and that's in association with weather fronts slipping
00:10southeastwards as we move through the day.
00:12A colder northwesterly airflow following once again with sunshine and showers into the north and a brisk northwesterly wind, so
00:20making it feel quite chilly.
00:22A chilly start across England and Wales, some spells of sunshine initially, a different picture for Northern Ireland and Scotland.
00:27Wet here as outbreaks of rain push slowly southeastwards into the afternoon, this will move into parts of England and
00:34Wales, again heavy over the higher ground.
00:36But behind it, it turns brighter into the afternoon, a mixture of sunny spells and showers for Northern Ireland, Northern
00:42England into Scotland, though showers will be frequent and heavy with hail and thunder once more and falling as snow
00:48over the higher ground as well.
00:51A brisk west to northwesterly wind here will make it feel quite chilly, temperatures struggling generally between 8 and 9
00:58Celsius as that colder air moves in, perhaps locally 11 or 12 for Northern Ireland, Northern England.
01:03Similar values across the rest of England and Wales as well, so with cloud and outbreaks of rain, it will
01:09be on the chilly side.
01:10This rain will push its way quickly southeastwards through the evening time, and then generally as we end the day
01:17and go overnight, it's a mixture of clear spells and showers.
01:21Shower is most frequent across the north and the east of the country.
01:24Clearer skies across parts of Wales, the West Midlands, Central and Southern England and the West Country.
01:28But enough of a breeze to stop temperatures from falling too low, generally lows between 3 and 7 degrees.
01:35So it does mean a chilly start to Monday morning, but a bright start, plenty of sunny spells, particularly across
01:40England and Wales, though showers elsewhere, some of these will be heavy.
01:45And they continue through the day here, though as we move through into the afternoon, we should see the showers
01:50become a little lighter and fewer as well,
01:52to allow more in the way of drier intervals, some bright or sunny spells too, best of the dry weather
01:57holding on across central and western parts of England and Wales.
02:01But still a north-westerly breeze, meaning it will be fairly chilly, temperatures near average for the time of year,
02:088 to 13 degrees.
02:09But that direction of the wind, it'll just make it feel a little bit chilly if you are out of
02:14the sunshine.
02:15For the next few days, looking at the week ahead, it does remain fairly changeable.
02:20We will see some rain pushing through at times, but with high pressure always nearby, there will be some bright
02:25or sunny spells too.
02:26And temperatures just starting to lift a little as we see a switch in the wind direction towards the mid
02:32-teens on Tuesday and Wednesday, perhaps a little cooler again by Thursday.
