28 March - National Morning Forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth.
Transcript
00:00Good morning, a bit of a colder wind today, but plenty of sunshine for most of us.
00:05Suddenly more sunshine to come today than there will be on Sunday, but it is a bit of a chilly
00:09start.
00:10That frost should clear up quite quickly though.
00:13Now we've got a spell of wet weather pushing southeastwards, bringing more in the way of cloud to more southern
00:17areas through lunchtime.
00:19Behind that though, showers pushing in from the north and west.
00:22These will be most frequent across northern areas.
00:24There's a risk of hail, hills, snow, possibly some thunderstorms as well.
00:29And the winds will be quite brisk.
00:30They're a northwesterly direction, so it will feel cold.
00:34These are the maximum temperatures for this afternoon, a little bit below average for the time of year.
00:39But add on the wind chill to that, it's going to be feeling much closer to two or three degrees
00:44across northern areas, five or six degrees across the south.
00:47So pretty disappointing for the time of year.
00:50But there will be more in the way of sunshine through this afternoon.
00:54Then Sunday brings more in the way of rain.
00:56Again, a weather front pushes in from the north and west.
00:59Now ahead of that, skies will clear.
01:01It's going to be another cold start to the night tonight.
01:03A frost is expected, particularly across eastern areas, parts of England, some rural areas of Wales by Sunday morning.
01:10Further north and west, so that cloud's already pushing in for Sunday morning.
01:14So it's going to be a slightly milder start here, but a wet one.
01:18Southwesterly winds to come on Sunday.
01:20Again, quite brisk though, so they will bring a significant wind chill once again.
01:24Now that rain affects more northern areas through the morning, pushing into the south and east later on in the
01:31day.
01:31There could be some quite heavy bursts in the rain, particularly over the high ground, across northwestern areas, parts of
01:36northern England,
01:37as well as north Wales, including Scotland and Northern Ireland, seeing the heaviest rain.
01:42There will be some rain, but not quite as much for more southern and eastern areas of England in particular.
01:48But the winds will be quite brisk still on Sunday.
01:51In from the southwest, so slightly milder, 10 or 11 degrees, but I don't think it's going to feel all
01:57that different.
01:58Now through Sunday evening, that rain pushes south eastwards.
02:02Behind it, it turns colder.
02:04It's a cold front, so it's colder air behind it.
02:07So it will be another chilly start on Monday morning.
02:10A ridge of high pressure will bring more fine weather though, just for a time.
02:14And then it should finally turn milder by Tuesday.
02:16But you can find more details on that on our YouTube channel through this weekend.
02:20So don't forget to subscribe.
02:22Have a great weekend.
02:23Bye bye.
