01:04We got more
01:05Okay, so I want to make sure, I want to say this right
01:07It's Matthew Grin, oh goodness
01:11I knew I was gonna, I need to see his name
01:15And his book, I need to see it, I need to see it
01:17So it's Matthew Grinberg
01:21I think I said it right
01:22Matthew Grinberg is here, and he has his book, The Darkness Dawn
01:27I absolutely love the cover
01:30It's already got like the whole pirate on the sea kind of thing
01:34Mystical mystery
01:36And I'm ready, I am ready, I am ready
01:39And I want to welcome him to the show
01:41Thank you so much for joining us today
01:44Well thank you, Yanya
01:46Oh, did I say it right?
01:49Yes
01:51Yay, yay, thank you, thank you
01:53Okay
01:55Alright, so I wanted to talk about your book
01:57But before I do that
01:58Let's go back in time a little bit
02:00Because I always like to find out
02:02What it was, when it was
02:05That you decided you were going to write this book
02:07And I know that there is an element there
02:09That is no longer
02:11I would say here with us today
02:16Yes, well
02:18I guess I should start out by saying that
02:23My wife, Pamela Lee
02:25Was the real author
02:27I mean, I helped her a lot
02:30And that's why my name is on the book
02:34But it was her idea
02:38And she did most of the work
02:43Gotcha
02:44I got you, wow
02:46So this book here is
02:49The protagonist of the book is John Lee
02:52Am I correct?
02:53That is correct
02:54And John Lee is an ancestor
02:56Of my wife, Pamela Lee
03:00And John Lee is also an ancestor
03:05Of some of the royalty over in Britain
03:09Of Prince Diana
03:13Who, like Pamela Lee
03:15Is no longer with us
03:16And
03:18Well, Princess Diana
03:20I should say
03:21And Prince William
03:24And Prince Harry
03:26Wow
03:26Wow
03:27That's got to be amazing
03:29To have that lineage
03:31To know that
03:32You know, you come from that lineage
03:34And to have a wife
03:36That seems like she was an amazing person
03:39I mean, she had an incredible career
03:40As a JAG officer
03:42And a DOJ attorney
03:45I mean, you know
03:46What was it like
03:47In real life
03:49When you guys went through this
03:50And wrote this book
03:51For, you know
03:52For this moment
03:55Well
03:57She
03:59She got the idea
04:00Of the book
04:02When she was a child
04:06Her grandfather
04:09Introduced her
04:10To a book
04:12That was written
04:13In 1878
04:15About John Lee
04:16And his descendants
04:18The name of the book
04:19Was John Lee
04:21Of Farmington
04:22Hartford County
04:23Connecticut
04:24And his descendants
04:25And
04:27She was so fascinated by it
04:30That she decided
04:31That she would like
04:33To write her own book
04:34About John Lee
04:36But
04:36You know
04:37With
04:38School
04:39And work
04:40And this and that
04:43She never got around to it
04:44Until
04:45She retired
04:46From the Department of Justice
04:47And
04:48When she did
04:49She immediately
04:52Dove into the project
04:53Of
04:53Writing this
04:55Historical
04:56Novel
04:57The Darkness of Thorn
04:58About
04:58John Lee
05:03That is amazing
05:04That is amazing
05:05To find yourself
05:06In a book
05:07I mean
05:08I don't know
05:09I don't know
05:09I think it's great
05:10To find yourself
05:11And your family
05:12And your history
05:13In the pages
05:14Of a book
05:14I think that's
05:16Amazing
05:16I think it is
05:17So
05:18How do you see
05:19Her real life
05:20Legal background
05:20Shining through
05:21In the book
05:22Theme of justice
05:24Crime
05:24And moral conflict
05:29Well
05:29Yeah
05:33Those are the
05:34Major themes
05:35Of the book
05:36Yeah
05:39Yes
05:42As a
05:43Lawyer
05:43Both in the air force
05:44And
05:45The department of justice
05:48She
05:48You know
05:49Was always having to
05:51Deal with
05:51Issues like that
05:52Not only is it
05:54Applying to
05:56You know
05:58Dependents
05:59And
05:59And
06:00Legal issues
06:02But
06:02But also
06:04Maintaining
06:06Honor
06:07In
06:07In the work
06:08That she
06:09She did
06:11Yeah
06:12Wow
06:13I could see
06:14There could be
06:15Something like
06:17You know
06:18One of those
06:18Wow
06:19I didn't know
06:19That that happened
06:20Or wow
06:21That's kind of
06:22Contradictory
06:22To what I do today
06:23Okay
06:24Because the plot
06:25Turns into a
06:26Massive crisis
06:27On
06:27Conscious regarding
06:29Oath
06:29Right
06:30Did Pamela's
06:31Real world
06:31Courtroom
06:32Experiences
06:33Shape how
06:34She viewed
06:35John Lee's
06:36Antagonizing
06:38Dilemma
06:40Yeah
06:41I mean
06:45As a lawyer
06:46As a trial
06:48Attorney
06:48You have to
06:51You have to
06:52Be a good
06:52Writer
06:53You have to
06:54Be able to
06:54Write in a way
06:55That will be
06:56Convincing
06:57To
06:59People who
07:00Are reading
07:01Listening
07:03Especially
07:05Juries
07:05In a criminal
07:07Trial
07:07And
07:10And so
07:11That experience
07:13That she had
07:14In legal writing
07:15I think
07:15Shines through
07:16In the darkness
07:18At dawn
07:19She does a
07:23Really
07:23Excellent
07:24Job
07:24Of
07:29Explaining
07:30What is
07:31Going
07:32On
07:32And
07:36Drawing
07:37Conclusions
07:38And
07:40Reaching
07:40A
07:41A
07:43A
07:44Conclusion
07:44That's
07:45Supported
07:46By what
07:47Went
07:47Went
07:48Before
07:50Yeah
07:50Wow
07:52You know
07:53I find
07:54That it
07:54Might be
07:54Hard
07:55For
07:56Some
07:56People
07:56To
07:57Write
07:57About
07:57This
07:57Because
07:58Before
07:58She
07:59Knew
07:59She
07:59Didn't
08:00Know
08:00And
08:00Now
08:00You
08:02Know
08:02And
08:02She's
08:03Not
08:04Here
08:04But
08:04It
08:04Still
08:05Remains
08:05That
08:05She
08:06Is
08:06Still
08:07In
08:08Relation
08:08To
08:09John
08:09Lee
08:09So
08:10Let
08:11Me
08:11Ask
08:11You
08:11How
08:12Did
08:12Pamela
08:12Approach
08:13The
08:13Research
08:14On
08:15Honoring
08:15The
08:16Native
08:16American
08:17Perspectives
08:17Of
08:18That
08:18Era
08:20Well
08:21If
08:22I
08:23Showed
08:23You
08:23Her
08:24Office
08:24Which
08:25Is
08:25Still
08:25Pretty
08:25Much
08:25As
08:26She
08:26Left
08:27It
08:28You
08:28Be
08:29Amazed
08:30At
08:30The
08:30Number
08:31Of
08:31Related
08:32Books
08:33Wow
08:35Books
08:36About
08:37You
08:38Colonial
08:38New
08:39England
08:39Books
08:41About
08:41The
08:43Native
08:43Americans
08:44Of
08:44That
08:45Time
08:47Historical
08:48Events
08:49Like
08:51The
08:52Peacock
08:52War
08:52King
08:53Philip's
08:53War
08:54You
08:54Know
08:55Things
08:55That
08:57People
08:58Really
08:59Don't
08:59Learn
09:00Much
09:00About
09:00In
09:01School
09:02But
09:02They
09:02Were
09:03Definitely
09:04Important
09:05Back
09:05Then
09:06And
09:07She
09:08Also
09:08Had
09:08A
09:09Lot
09:09Of
09:09Books
09:10About
09:11How
09:12To
09:12Go
09:12About
09:13Writing
09:14A
09:14Historical
09:15Novel
09:19You
09:20Know
09:20I'm
09:20So
09:20Sorry
09:21And
09:21My
09:21Condolences
09:22To
09:22You
09:22I
09:23Know
09:23What
09:23It's
09:23Like
09:24To
09:24Feel
09:24And
09:25To
09:26Lose
09:27Someone
09:28Close
09:29To
09:29You
09:29You
09:29Know
09:31My
09:31Mom
09:31Passed
09:32Away
09:32In
09:35June
09:35Or
09:36July
09:36I
09:37Can't
09:37Even
09:37Remember
09:37Because
09:38It's
09:38So
09:39Hard
09:40To
09:40Think
09:40About
09:40It
09:41But
09:42I
09:42Don't
09:42Want
09:42To
09:42Think
09:42About
09:43It
09:43Anymore
09:43But
09:44She
09:44Passed
09:44Away
09:44A
09:45Couple
09:45Of
09:45Years
09:45Ago
09:46And
09:47You
09:48Want
09:48To
09:48Talk
09:48To
09:49Them
09:49You
09:49Want
09:49To
09:50Hug
09:51Them
09:51You
09:51Want
09:51To
09:52Hear
09:52Their
09:52Voice
09:52You
09:52Want
09:52To
09:52Go
09:53To
09:53Lunch
09:53You
09:53Want
09:53To
09:53Do
09:53All
09:54These
09:54Things
09:54And
09:54I
09:55Know
09:56That
09:56We
09:56Can't
09:57Do
09:58That
09:58Anymore
09:58You
09:58Can't
09:59Do
09:59That
09:59I
09:59Can't
09:59Do
10:00That
10:00But
10:00What
10:00And
10:01I
10:02Know
10:02How
10:02This
10:02Feels
10:02To
10:03To
10:03Step
10:03Into
10:03The
10:04Spotlight
10:05To
10:05Be
10:05The
10:05Person
10:06That
10:06Represents
10:07What
10:07They've
10:07Done
10:08And
10:09To
10:09Hold
10:09Down
10:10The
10:10Fort
10:10And
10:11To
10:11And
10:11To
10:12Promote
10:13Them
10:13And
10:14I
10:14Know
10:14That
10:14She
10:15Was
10:15An
10:15Amazing
10:15Person
10:16What
10:16Is
10:16It
10:16Like
10:17For
10:17You
10:17To
10:18Step
10:18Into
10:19The
10:24Well
10:24It's
10:25I
10:26I'm
10:26Proud
10:27To
10:27Do
10:27It
10:28But
10:28I
10:28But
10:28I
10:28Have
10:29To
10:29Say
10:29That
10:30You
10:31Know
10:31Trying
10:32To
10:32Promote
10:33The
10:33Darkness
10:33At
10:34Dawn
10:34Has
10:34Really
10:35Taken
10:35Up
10:36Quite
10:36A
10:36Bit
10:36Of
10:37My
10:37Life
10:37Yeah
10:40And
10:41So
10:41I
10:42Understand
10:42It
10:43I
10:43Definitely
10:43Do
10:44I
10:45Definitely
10:45Do
10:45And
10:46And
10:46Will
10:46You
10:46Continue
10:46To
10:47Promote
10:47It
10:47Or
10:48Would
10:48You
10:48Write
10:48Your
10:48Own
10:49Book
10:51If
10:51If
10:52I
10:52Wrote
10:52A
10:52Book
10:53It
10:53Wouldn't
10:53Be
10:53Anything
10:54Like
10:55The
10:55Darkness
10:55At
10:56Dawn
10:58I
10:59Do
10:59A
11:00Lot
11:00Of
11:00Writing
11:01But
11:03Most
11:03Of
11:03The
11:03Writing
11:04I
11:04Do
11:04Has
11:05To
11:05Do
11:06With
11:06Chess
11:07Which
11:08Has
11:09Been
11:09My
11:10Big
11:10Hobby
11:10For
11:11Most
11:11Of
11:11My
11:12Life
11:13And
11:13You
11:14Know
11:14People
11:15Keep
11:15Telling
11:15Me
11:15You
11:16Ought
11:16To
11:16Write
11:17A
11:17Chess
11:17Book
11:18And
11:18Yeah
11:19Well
11:19Maybe
11:20I
11:20Should
11:20But
11:21I
11:21Haven't
11:21Gone
11:21Around
11:21To
11:22Doing
11:22Anything
11:23About
11:23It
11:23Yeah
11:25I
11:25Hear
11:26You
11:26I
11:26Hear
11:26You
11:27Well
11:27Maybe
11:27One
11:28Day
11:28You
11:28Will
11:28Write
11:28A
11:29Book
11:29About
11:29Chess
11:29I
11:30Mean
11:30You
11:30Have
11:30To
11:30I
11:31Mean
11:31I
11:31See
11:32It
11:32As
11:33Something
11:33That
11:33She
11:33Would
11:33Want
11:34You
11:34To
11:34Do
11:35Yeah
11:35Yeah
11:36Yeah
11:37Yeah
11:37We
11:38We
11:38Actually
11:38Met
11:39Through
11:40Chess
11:40Oh
11:41Cool
11:41At
11:42The
11:43Arlington
11:44Chess
11:44Club
11:45In
11:45Arlington
11:45Virginia
11:46Oh
11:47Wow
11:47Oh
11:48Wow
11:49So
11:49Now
11:50That
11:50You
11:50Are
11:51Heavily
11:51Promoting
11:52This
11:52And
11:53Who
11:53Knows
11:53For
11:53How
11:54Long
11:54But
11:55I
11:55Know
11:56That
11:56She
11:56Appreciates
11:57It
11:57But
11:57I
11:58Think
11:58You
11:58Should
11:58Go
11:58Ahead
11:58And
11:58Write
11:59That
11:59Chess
11:59Book
