01:28So, you cared for some sick loved ones, right?
01:31And, but, I mean, not everybody that cares for sick loved ones wants to write a book about being prepared
01:38Because we're all gonna die
01:39What happened? What clicked?
01:42Well, I lost my husband a little over four years ago
01:45Oh, sorry
01:46And I was laying in bed one night and thinking, you know, I've got to call the lawyer tomorrow
01:52To make sure things are going okay with probate and all of this stuff
01:56And I thought, what, what happens when people don't know some of these things that they need to do ahead
02:03of time
02:04That makes it a little bit easier
02:06I mean, I mean, it's hard when you lose someone
02:10But I mean, the other things that you have to do
02:13And it just came to me
02:15Write a book, help people
02:17So, that's
02:18I got up the next morning and started writing the book
02:21Wow, that is amazing
02:22And you're right
02:23When a person dies, it's not the end of their life, per se
02:27It does continue on
02:29And it drags on
02:30And the healing can be difficult when you're going through this process
02:34Did this book help you in your healing?
02:37It should
02:38Because it gives you steps to take care of things
02:41Sometime before the event, maybe
02:44If you're able to
02:45You know, tragic things happen
02:48And then you've just got to deal with it when it happens
02:51But this is more a line of preparing
02:55Getting your insurance, your will, whatever
03:00In order that
03:01The will is for the next
03:04Your family that's left behind
03:06But you want to do something
03:08To make it easier for them
03:10And for them to know what you want
03:12Yeah, yeah
03:13What was or what is the most
03:17I'd say predominant thing that you would
03:20Suggest people have ready
03:22Like, if you just took the will
03:24And put it into a pile of different things
03:26What would be the one thing that they
03:28Just have to have?
03:31Well, I would say there's two things
03:33First, if you have life insurance
03:36You know, when you're starting a family
03:39Like, maybe you have insurance on the kids
03:43Enough, you know, 10, 15 grand
03:46Enough if something happened
03:49That you wouldn't have to go borrow money
03:52Or run around and try to collect money
03:55See if people loan it to you
03:57All that kind of stuff
03:58Yeah
03:58And that way, you're covered for that part
04:03And having a will
04:05I mean, I can't tell you
04:07You have to have a will
04:08But it sure does help
04:10Yeah, yeah
04:12Because that way, everyone's in line
04:14For what you wanted to do
04:19What are, like, some common mistakes
04:22Or misconceptions that people make
04:24When they're in that situation?
04:29I hate to say it
04:30But you
04:31If somebody dies suddenly
04:33Then you have to go to the funeral home
04:34And you may spend more than what you
04:36Are able to at the time
04:39And then when you go
04:40I mean, you've got to pay them
04:43Before the funeral and all
04:45So, if you can set aside enough life insurance
04:49Or you can pre-plan or pre-pay
04:52Luckily, I had hours pre-paid
04:55My son tells everybody
04:57Says, I can't believe it
04:58When dad died
04:59All mom had to do
05:00Was make one phone call
05:02And it was
05:03It wasn't quite that simple
05:06But it started there
05:08And it wasn't as bad
05:10Because if somebody dies
05:12You don't want to go in there
05:13And look at
05:15Books and stuff like that
05:18Yeah
05:20My grandmother had hers prepared
05:22She was 101
05:23She had everything prepaid
05:26From, I think she was like 65
05:28When she did it
05:29And then she was like
05:31Okay, I'm ready
05:32We're ready
05:33And she lived 30 more years
05:37But it was
05:38Nobody kind of
05:39You know, everybody was like
05:40She's dead
05:41I'm like, yeah
05:41She died
05:42They're like, wait a minute
05:43She was 101
05:44She died
05:45I'm like, yeah
05:46She couldn't live forever
05:48You said, this has been paid off
05:50Since she was like 65
05:52I'm like, wow
05:53Well, that's it
05:54The only thing we had to do
05:55Was get the dress
05:56Huh?
05:57It made it easier on y'all
05:59It did
05:59It made it easier on me
06:01And it did make
06:02Because I was the one
06:02That actually had to call
06:04Because she was my step-grandmother
06:05And I had to call the family
06:07Call her sister
06:08And then her sister was like, okay
06:09And then they took over
06:11And then I was the one
06:13That took care of
06:13All the arrangements
06:15While they took care of
06:16Like the dress
06:18And the location
06:19And the date
06:20And all that
06:20Because family
06:22But it was easy
06:23It was definitely easy
06:25And I'm glad
06:27I'm very happy
06:29So, you know
06:30Could you explain
06:32Like some
06:32Like initial paperwork
06:34That, you know
06:35You need to
06:36Kind of be aware of
06:37What if you don't know
06:38You know, like
06:39They had insurance
06:40And they didn't put it there
06:42How do you go about
06:43Doing that?
06:45Oh, well
06:46I would tell everybody
06:48To find one spot
06:50And put all your
06:52Information in it
06:53Because I've told my kids
06:55I said
06:55Find that black bag
06:56In the closet
06:57And everything you need
06:59Is in there
07:00But if you don't have it
07:02Then I would check
07:04With the bank
07:04To see if there's
07:05A safety deposit box
07:08In their favorite
07:09Or a desk
07:10Or around their
07:11Favorite chair
07:12Or
07:13Then you'd have to
07:14Go through filing cabinets
07:15Or whatever
07:16And that's what
07:17Makes it hard
07:18You can't
07:19Yeah
07:19Because you'd have to
07:20Have the birth certificate
07:21Marriage certificates
07:22And all of this stuff

07:25It doesn't matter
07:26Even if you're
07:27The only child
07:28Because I was the only child

07:33And it doesn't
07:34Make any sense
07:35But it is what it is

07:58And it needed

08:01So I just googled
08:04And I found a lawyer

08:12It was so much easier
08:13Because they do
08:15Just that
08:16It's not like a lawyer
08:17That does a little bit
08:18Of everything
08:19So I felt better
08:20Going through them
08:22And
08:24Of course it took
08:25Nine months
08:26But that was
08:27Right after COVID
08:28So I mean
08:29A lot of things
08:30Took longer
08:31But
08:32I mean
08:33It was an easy process
08:34Because they just kept
08:35Getting with the court
08:36And see where it is

08:39It was settled

08:42I didn't have to do anything

08:44The lawyer said

08:52I'd never heard

08:56It got me out of
