01:10I said I was married into the family, but I know Papa was Rolling Stones.

01:28I always like to go back to the story because a lot of people don't understand that there are so

01:33many different beginnings.

01:35And your beginning isn't necessarily where you're going to end up.

01:39What was your beginning like before you knew that this was something you had to do?

01:44Well, my beginning was a journey that I knew that I was called to do.

01:49There's no coincidence that I had the seven children, 30 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren.

01:54It's not a coincidence that I had to work a job at the telephone company for 30 years.

01:59I completed my full benefits to take care of me and all my children.

02:04So I'm asking, okay, God, what is this really all about?

02:07So I wrote my first book called Gave Me My Flowers While I Live, and I'll do the same for

02:11you.

02:12But I thought that was just going to be a big letter to my children.

02:15And then things begin to happen, episodes of me and my daughter, because I only have one girl.

02:20That's why I have so many boys.

02:21I only have one girl.

02:23And it seemed like the ending was trying to use her and myself to take each other off this earth.

02:27And, again, the devil is a lie.

02:29So we're still here, and we're still trying.

02:33And I just want everybody to know that this is real, but God showed me how to work through this

02:40spiritually.

02:40Because I was trying to do it physically, but God showed me how to do it spiritually.

03:36Okay, tell me about this.

03:37Be becoming an author and doing what you do, you know, writing.

03:42What was that like for you?

03:43Did you develop a process, or you just kind of did it?

03:47Well, the first one was, like I said, I thought it was a letter.

03:49The second one, the 10-D mammoths, was more of a vision and mission and obligation.

03:58And what I mean by that is I knew that God wanted me to go ahead and continue to show

04:02and tell my children, according to me, being the, I'm going to say role model.

04:07So I am not only am I an example, I am a product, and I'm a testimony that God's way

04:12works.

04:13And I wanted to write it out so that they can see and read it, because I even have it

04:19in the Library of Congress, because in case my children don't read it to my grand and great-grands, it's

04:24going to be there.

04:24The book's going to be there.

04:25It's not going anywhere.

04:26So that's one of the legacies.

04:27Wow, that is wonderful.

04:29I mean, nobody really thinks about doing that, putting it in the Library of Congress.

04:33You know, I'm looking at your website, and it says children have demandments, too, the 10 demandments.

04:41I mean, you go, girl.

04:43I'm just, I'm over here looking at this.

04:45What?

04:46I mean, you go, you have, give me my flowers while I live, and I'll do the same for you.

04:51It says that on your website.

04:53It's wonderful.

04:53You have your 10 demandments.

04:55And I mean, to me, that says a lot about the legacy that you're leaving.

05:01You know what I mean?

05:02I mean, not only with your children, your children's children, and so on and so on, but look at this.

05:08This could be for my children, too.

05:10Oh, yes.

05:11Oh, I'm going to take it to screen.

05:12That's what I'm in the process of doing now.

05:13I want it to be a movie.

05:15I want Denzel Washington to direct the song praying, but it has to be top-notch.

05:20So the 10 commandments reminded me of God, taught me a lot about God, but the 10 demandments is going

05:25to teach a lot of people as it taught me about Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.

05:31And this is here, your recount of a mother's battle to save her family from the curses that plagued each

05:37generation before her.

05:41You know, when you thought about this, because a lot of times people don't realize that these things are on

05:47our minds.

05:49How did you phrase this story?

05:52Was this something that actually happened to you?

05:54Or is it just a figment or a fiction?

05:57Or was it a combination of both?

05:59Was it biblical?

06:02Biblical and nonfiction.

06:04All true.

06:04Everything happened.

06:05I experienced everything.

06:07I don't like to teach things that I haven't experienced and learned.

06:10I like to teach things that I learned and experienced because it's not a lie.

06:15The flowers are not like the beautiful flowers in the garden.

06:18That's not the flowers I'm talking about.

06:19I'm talking about children, which are their diplomas, their degrees, their achievements, their positive moves that they make in life.

06:26And when I went to the birthday party celebration, I got to see so many of them.

06:29I got to talk to them because we live in different states.

06:32But I got to see and talk to them and see how they grew.

06:35Matter of fact, we had a wedding the day before.

06:36So we got to be around each other for the whole weekend.

06:39And I'm saying that to say this.

06:40It's nothing like being able to, like you say, live long enough to see them, to see all of them,

06:46the children, the grandchildren, the great-grandchildren.

06:49There's nothing like it.

06:50I can die and go to heaven right now.

06:53That is beautiful.

06:54I love it.

06:55That is beautiful.

06:56And I absolutely love it, too.

06:58So let's go to the demandments.

07:02What are these demandments?

07:05The demandments, the main demandments are you have to put God first in your life.

07:10I tried it the other way around.

07:11It doesn't work.

07:12I tried it this way, and it does work.

07:15So you have to put God first.

07:17He has to come first before everything.

07:18He owns everything and everybody.

07:20I understand that.

07:21I only have one boss.

07:23That's God.

07:24I don't have to answer to anyone else.

07:25He's my only judge.

07:26I learned that.

07:27Life is so much easier having to just answer to one.

07:30So that's the main demand.

07:32But there's 10 of them.

07:33And going back to my children, like I said, everybody has a lane they need to stay in.

07:37If you go to the book of Ephesians, that's my favorite book of the Bible.

07:40It tells you what your lane is.

07:42It tells you the mothers, the fathers, the children, and self, all of us.

07:46And if we all stay in our lanes, and then we're supposed to, our households will be in order like

07:50it's supposed to.

07:51But we have to keep cleaning it.

07:52You know, it keeps getting dirty.

07:53We've got to keep cleaning it.

07:54But the demandments are just follow God's word.

07:56His will and His way.

07:58And you can't go wrong.

07:58That's right.

08:04I'm looking at this.

08:04It says, you demand not only for yourself, but you also demand for the children.

08:09It says, how do you know you have arrived in a successful relationship or marriage?

08:15I want to know how you know how you arrived.

08:18Tell me about this.

08:19Let's go to that.

08:20But I've been married three times.

08:22I learned how to, it's easy to get a man, but keeping a man is another thing.

08:27I learned that from the first two mistakes of my marriages, that I wasn't a wife the way God said

08:33to be a wife.

08:34I was the way that I thought I was to be.

08:37I was the way that I thought my mother, that I saw my mother and my sister to be.

08:40And that's not the way.

08:41The way is to be a wife the way God said to be.

08:43So once I learned that, I clenched it.

08:45So now I've been married with my husband.

08:47I've been with him for 25 years.

08:48We married in 05.

08:49But I got it down, packed down.

08:51And I have arrived because we live a life abundantly.

08:55We came together and brought our resources together.

08:58And sacrifice to me is what love is all about, sacrificing.

09:02Because no two people are alike.

09:04And I wanted to learn how to get along with the opposite sex because I didn't want to end up

09:10with nothing else.

09:11So I definitely didn't want to be alone.

09:13So now that's why I said I have arrived.

09:15And me and my husband have a wonderful relationship.

09:17I'm a happy wife.

09:19It's a happy life.

09:20Yes, wonderful.

09:21I like that.

09:23That means he's doing what he's supposed to do.

09:25Yeah, well, we both got into work.

09:27And we've done what God told us to do.

09:28And that's why it's working.

09:30It's not us.

09:30It's God.

09:32Yes.

09:32Yes, yes, you have to.

09:34You have to.

09:35Oh, my gosh.

09:35And you have just beautiful.

09:37Is this your grandbaby on the cover?

09:40Yes.

09:40So my grandbaby saw me writing a book called The Tindy Mail.

09:43She said, oh, grandma, I want to write a book.

09:44I said, good.

09:45Let me pull up a chair so I can get her out of my way.

09:47She started writing a book herself.

09:49So it's her book.

09:50I got to put because all the illustrations, all the words are hers.

09:53And what she wanted to do is she watched the generations.

09:56And she said, I don't want to be like this.

09:58I don't want to be like this.

09:58I don't want to be like that.

09:59She wrote another book, but she don't want to be like.

10:01And she's doing an awesome job now.

10:03She wrote that book at 11 years old.

10:04She's 19 now.

10:05She's going to one of the best colleges in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

10:08And she got this, too.

10:10She got it.

10:11Oh, wow.

10:11That is beautiful.

10:12I absolutely love that.

10:14You have so many amazing accomplishments.

10:17But you said that you said, and a lot of people don't realize this, that, you know,

10:21you could try and fail and try and fail and then try and succeed.

10:28And the one thing I always tell people is don't give up.

10:32Failure is not going back at it again.

10:36You found two ways it didn't work and the one way it did work.

10:40And, you know, a lot of people don't realize that success is not failure.

10:46And I know I had, I said, you tried and failed, but it's like,

10:51that's what people think.

10:53Me, personally, if I were to label it, I would say you tried three ways.

10:59Two of them didn't work.

11:01And now you found the one that did.

11:04But you are successful at your marriage.

11:08You're successful at your life and you're happy.

11:12What kind of advice do you give to people, you know,

11:16whether they want to be an author, whether they want to be a great mother,

11:19a great wife, what do you tell people?

11:22I tell people the best way to get along with people is to allow them to be

11:25who they are, which is who you're not.

11:28That's the best way to get along with people.

11:30So I tried that method and it works.

11:33See, I try things just like I'm a believer of God because I tried God,

11:36not what I read, what people told me.

11:38I tried God.

11:39He worked every time.

11:40I'm going to try it.

11:41I'll try you.

11:42And then I don't mind making a mistake.

11:44I just want to keep making the same mistake.

11:45Like I ain't going to keep bumping my head here, here.

11:47I'm going to bump it here, over there,

11:48but I ain't going to keep bumping it at the same spot in the same place.

11:51Yeah.

11:52I hear you.

11:54Let me tell you.

11:54Wow.

11:55Wow.

11:56So are there any new books on the horizon?

11:59Oh, no, ma'am.

12:00I just want to make this movie and I'm done.

12:02I've done so many things in my life that I want to do.

12:05I just want to take this book to screen and I'm done.

12:08That's it?

12:09If God says, if God says, as far as I think and know,

12:12I've done almost everything in my life that I want to accomplish, I have.

12:15You said almost.

12:20Well, there's, this is going to be in the movie.

12:22So I really can't even tell you this yet, but this is going to be in the movie.

12:25So just so you know, when you read the book at the end of the book,

12:27it says it's chapter 10.

12:29It talks about how my husband and I were going through some things,

12:34but it would have been on my loss had I left him.

12:37But now I just told God, what do I do?

12:39God said, take hands off and I'll put hands on.

12:42And I did and God fixed it.

12:44And so now that chapter 10 is going to be in the movie as well.

12:48God took all those problems away.

12:49And that's why I say me and my husband have a great life.

12:52But I'm going to put that in.

12:53I'm going to play that in the movie.

12:54But there's one, when you say except for one thing,

12:55there's one last thing I can't discuss right now.

12:58It's between God and I.

12:59And I know God's going to fix it because everything I turn up to him,

13:02he does fix.

13:03And I'm just waiting for him to fix it.

13:05So I don't even want to talk about it until it's fixed.

13:08Yeah.

13:09So that's the only exception.

13:11Sometimes you just got to keep things to yourself.

13:14Yeah.
