02:10Welcome to Beyond the Tape.
02:18I'm your host, Mark Bussand.
02:19Welcome to our viewers across Trinidad and Tobago.
02:21Our international viewers, and of course our brothers and sisters in the Isle of Grenada.
02:26There's certainly a lot happening over the last 24 hours.
02:31Thankfully, the rescue of Saty Karim or Janki Saty Karim up at the Ram Canalgus area off the Toko Main Road
02:41was being held against a will in what police believe was a beach house.
02:47And these are some images last night from our crew up there, Emmanuel Nunes from TV6 and Alexander Bruzel from the Express with Ishmael Salandi.
02:55Going up there, where police had this operation happening over the last 24 hours.
03:06And before we even get to that, of course, we have the latest advisory from the police commissioner following that operation.
03:15New information coming to hand, according to the commissioner, is that following these operations,
03:20the TTPS has unearthed credible intelligence, indicating increased threats to law enforcement personnel
03:27through planned coordinated criminal activity targeting both police and prison officers.
03:33The intelligence community remains fully engaged and continues to unearth vital information
03:39that is proving instrumental in disrupting the plans of the organized criminal syndicate.
03:45And he asked officers, of course, to be extremely safe because your safety is paramount and of importance.
03:54And the vigilance, sorry, both on and off duty must remain uncompromised.
03:59So certainly that was triggered by some kind of communication that the police would have intercepted
04:05involving certain persons speaking about, you know, attacking off-duty police officers,
04:12attacking prison officers in certain locations across Trinidad and Tobago.
04:17And with us today, of course, is our brother, Corporal Shabody from the St. James Police Youth Club.
04:24A pretty busy time for the police.
04:25And I know you yourself is very busy as well.
04:28Well, thanks to you and yours and to the listenership.
04:32And, you know, we call on all police officers or enforcement, even their family,
04:38to be alert and do not be complacent and take anything for granted.
04:44Every threat comes to hand and must be taken serious.
04:49Yes.
04:49You know, and we want to appeal to all the law-abiding citizens and all those who are listening and paying attention.
04:58There is a group of people not happy.
05:00They are very unhappy.
05:01They are not pleased with the steps that the police are making, the inroads, the disruption that is taking place.
05:08And you can see the more that they come out with is an appreciation that they are not very happy.
05:14They are angry.
05:15And therefore, we are not going to take any threat with a pinch of salt.
05:20Yes, and certainly.
05:21And I think the prison, sorry, the police commissioner last night went to the location where this rescue took place.
05:30One of the suspects, a 24-year-old male from Stilots, I understand, was shot dead.
05:34A female suspect was brought into custody from that house because the police commissioner, of course,
05:42was together with ACP Smith as well as Senior Superintendent Maraj, who helped to coordinate this operation along with Superintendent Parryman.
05:53This would have been the location in Aruka you're looking at there where police would have found the car.
05:58This would have been earlier in the afternoon, yesterday afternoon.
06:02They found the car in this location between these two walls parked.
06:05Of course, that car believed to have been used in the kidnapping of Ms. Karim.
06:11And then, of course, last night, just after, or just late evening, I should say, around after 6 p.m.,
06:18police officers, a number of elite units involved in rescuing Ms. Karim,
06:25who we understand, apart from being dehydrated and visibly shaken, she is doing well.
06:30And we are happy to report that she has been reunited with her family.
06:35And I know that following that operation, the commissioner was on the ground to lend support to his officers
06:43and also to update the public.
06:46Let's take a listen in.
06:46I'm addressing you all tonight from the Toco Main Road in Rampanagas,
06:52where, around 6.30 p.m., based on information and intelligence received,
06:59officers from the Tran-Tobago Police Service sections, the multi-optional police section,
07:04the Special Investigations Unit and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit,
07:08received intelligence about the location of kidnapped victim, C.T. Karim.
07:14As a result, intelligence-led operation went into play.
07:21And as the officers would have approached the house,
07:26the male suspect would have held Ms. Karim hostage,
07:31was armed with a fire, and sadly, the police officers had to use the use of force policy.
07:37And he was wounded and taken to hospital, where he succumbed subsequently.
07:44The victim, Ms. Karim, was also taken to hospital, where she was medically examined,
07:50and she is now reunited with her family.
07:53A female suspect is also in custody at this point in time.
07:57I would like to urge the members of the public to continue to partner with the Tran-Tobago Police Service
08:03and share information that is of use to us.
08:06This is a scenario where we spoke about this recently held or the state of emergency
08:13that I would have asked the government to call for.
08:16And they willingly agreed.
08:18These are the criminal gangs that have amalgamated themselves into the syndicate
08:22and were using crimes such as robberies, extortion, and in this case, kidnapping,
08:28for the purposes of getting money so that they could fuel their rampant,
08:33what should I call it, attack on the good citizens of this country.
08:40This is a scenario that should have played out totally different had they,
08:43or had he decided to give himself up, as I begged the members of the criminal networks,
08:50when confronted by my officers, please surrender and do not engage my officers.
08:57They are highly trained, and this is the outcome.
09:01I will extend condolences to the family of the deceased.
09:05But at this point in time, Trader and Tobago, we have rescued the kidnapped victim.
09:14The operation was spearheaded, and it has been days that police officers have been on the ground,
09:19spearheaded by Assistant Commissioner of Police Smith,
09:22Senior Superintendent Winston Marrage, Superintendent Parryman,
09:26and the information that we got from the public was overwhelming
09:29in bringing a successful rescue of the hostage.
09:33So, Commissioner Alistair Guevara there, sending a clear message,
09:41Corporal Shabadi, to the criminals, do not engage the police officers, surrender.
09:48Yes, and the Commissioner is leading my example.
09:50Yes.
09:51He's leading my example, and he's not just a talker,
09:54intent to make the criminal elements understand that I don't feel it.
09:58You know, I want to commend Assistant Commissioner Smith, Senior Superintendent Marrage.
10:05You can understand the executive and the collective effort.
10:09The Commissioner went on to point out the importance of intelligence.
10:14It was because of intelligence.
10:15And, you know, last week, Tuesday, when we spoke about this kidnap,
10:18we pray, we trust God that we will find Karim.
10:21And I want to thank God for, you know, for answered prayers.
10:24I want to thank God that, you know, even though she was found dehydrated,
10:28but she was found, at least in good health.
10:30And the people who would have seen something, you know, and reported,
10:35they too must be commended for ensuring that the police can disrupt
10:39and, you know, ensure that that type of, whether it's kidnapping or any type of,
10:46that at the end of the day, the police service will ensure that people in this country is a safe one.
10:54So to the Commissioner of Police and to the executive and to all the officers
10:58who participated in showing the return of this mother, you know,
11:05blessings to all the officers and blessings to the intelligence that was given.
11:11And this is what we need.
11:12This is how we need to respond.
11:14We need to respond in kind.
11:15Yes.
11:16And I know that while at that press briefing or gathering in Toko last night,
11:23the police commissioner was asked by one of the journalists whether or not
11:27there were ongoing intelligence or operations connected to this specific kidnapping.
11:34Of course, he didn't answer then.
11:37But then later, around 10.30, police went to the area in Dabody along the Old Piarko Road
11:43where apparently a second suspect or rather a third suspect was confronted at this house here
11:52in Dabody along Old Piarko Road.
11:55And apparently there were officers from the Guard and Emergency Branch
11:59as well as the Interagency Task Force.
12:02The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Zachariah Williams from Ali, John, Lean, Old Piarko, Red Hill, Dabody.
12:13And the commissioner did send a voice note accompanying this.
12:16Let's take a listen.
12:17Following the successful rescue of kidnap victim, Mrs. Janky Saty Karim, which occurred earlier this evening,
12:29the operations continued around 10.30 p.m. tonight
12:33when a team of officers from the Interagency Task Force and the Guard and Emergency Branch
12:39proceeded to Old Piarko Road in continuance of our intelligence-led operation.
12:47Upon arrival at the home of one of the suspects,
12:51they announced their presence and was immediately confronted by the suspect
12:55who was armed with a firearm.
12:57In keeping with the TTPS use-of-force policy,
13:02the officers discharged their service-issued firearms in response to the imminent threat.
13:08The suspect sustained injuries and was conveyed to the Arima Hospital,
13:13where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
13:15One Glock 19 pistol with ammunition was recovered and seized at the scene.
13:24My officers and I are continuing to work throughout the night
13:27in an effort to curtail the identified threat to national security
13:31posed by these individuals who have forged themselves into this criminal syndicate.
13:38At this point in time, the leaders of their group remain imprisoned at a secure location
13:46where their communication is stymied.
13:49Whilst the TTPS is out here working hard to keep these people in that secure location away from you,
13:58there are persons amongst you who are working overtime to get them out
14:02so they can continue to terrorize Sweet Trinidad and Tobago.
14:05So, Commissioner, it's pretty serious.
14:09And this criminal syndicate, these gangs that have now formed, that amalgamation, it seems,
14:16it's a worry and a concern.
14:19And we know that they are trying to target law enforcement officials, state officials as well.
14:25So it's certainly a very hard-nosed approach by Commissioner Guevara there
14:28to ensure that this type of criminal syndicate is dismantled.
14:35And this Commissioner, he has to be commended.
14:38He keeps the public informed.
14:40Yes.
14:41He's very meticulous, yes, in what he say and how he say it,
14:44how much information he shares.
14:45Because you'll understand that you cannot go and divulge too much information
14:49because the criminal element also have the networks.
14:54That's right.
14:54So you have to come in, Commissioner, to keep in the public post,
14:57this is what we do, this is what has been done,
15:00so that people understand as we connect the dots,
15:03the importance of why he asks for a state emergency at this particular time.
15:10And by most of that, and more than that, the question of people's safety,
15:13as they go about doing their business,
15:16they're not getting information from the social media,
15:18but the Commissioner said, we got this from the Commissioner's office,
15:22from the Commissioner himself,
15:24and he must be commended for that,
15:26keeping members of the public informed
15:28so that nobody wouldn't be able to say,
15:30I heard you, but they're getting good information.
15:32We know what organized chaos is.
15:36People set up to disrupt this country.
15:39They don't like how people are going to church.
15:41And the movement, the free movement,
15:44again, I want to mention that the elements are not very happy,
15:48and by extension, they will be getting a rude awakening.
15:51And I say no more about that.
15:53Yes, indeed.
15:54And just to go back to another story,
15:56a very uplifting story, of course,
15:58is the rescue of this young man
16:02who was on the Ferris Reel a couple of days ago on Sunday
16:05by Aki Levines.
16:07And just quickly, if you just want to share
16:09any kind of advice the parents as we are now in the holiday season
16:13in terms of, you know, this kind of incident
16:16or similar incidents, or when you're going out,
16:19what you should do when you're taking your kids out.
16:22Well, first of all, I want to commend the gentleman
16:24who already went, you know, saying
16:27there was no rope, there was nothing.
16:30He went up to rescue, and he has to be commended.
16:32And I trust that officials from Movitong,
16:35you know, will call him and award him.
16:37He has to be commended for that.
16:39Things happen from time to time,
16:42but it is good when parents are in the midst
16:44that they will be able to apprehend
16:47and they'll be able to intervene.
16:49When you're going out and children are going,
16:52you have to double-check, triple-check.
16:54The belt is good.
16:55The apparatus is okay.
16:56You follow, do not take things for granted.
16:59And therefore, this is an excellent opportunity
17:03for people to revisit when they go on different apparatus.
17:08Yes, it's fun.
17:09Right.
17:09Yes, you know, at the end of the day,
17:11the child is looking forward to it,
17:14but we want to make sure that the parents are there
17:16and the adult is there.
17:17We also call on persons who are manning
17:20these type of apparatus.
17:21It is imperative that they double-check
17:24and make sure the safety of the children along with an adult.
17:30I don't think that any apparatus that provides an opportunity to have fun
17:36should be without an adult.
17:38We take every year of our young people to what they call Harry's Water Park.
17:42And we don't make a joke with that.
17:45We make sure that wherever they're using,
17:46the different slides they're using,
17:49that they follow the instructions of the particular person
17:52who is manning that particular area.
17:55But I think that this speaks volumes.
17:58That gentleman must be applauded.
18:00Truly a hero.
18:01Yes, so we hope for that parents will be cognizant, you know,
18:06when you go out there with your children
18:08to ensure you look at them carefully,
18:12especially when you're in the environment,
18:14but in a swimming pool or, you know, amusement park
18:17or whatever the case might be,
18:19and not be too far away.
18:22That's right.
18:22That's right.
18:22So, all right.
18:24We're going to take a quick look now
18:26at some of our SOE figures updated
18:29as of day five of the state of emergency.
18:35So, number of operations, 338.
18:39Priority offenders targeted, 123.
18:42Searches conducted, 2,141.
18:45Traffic operations, 181.
18:47Total persons arrested thus far, 116.
18:51Traffic offenses detected, 1,063.
18:54Firearms recovered, 8 pistols, 2 revolvers, 1 shotgun,
18:59and 2 rifles.
19:01Ammunition recovered, 50 rungs of 9mm,
19:0311 rungs of 12 gauge, 16 rungs of .380,
19:0783 rungs of 5.5, and 7 rungs of .38.
19:12Dangerous drugs seized, 2,862.6 grams of marijuana,
19:17and 8.7 grams of cocaine.
19:19So, police still pressing on, of course,
19:25trying to rid the streets of illicit firearms,
19:29drugs, and persons who are hell-bent on illicit activity.
19:33Yes.
19:34Police must be commended.
19:36And all that drugs and all those,
19:38it has to do with intelligence.
19:39Again, members of the public,
19:41the low-abiding citizens working in concert with the police,
19:44providing relevant information to ensure the community is safe,
19:48streets are safe,
19:50you know, wherever you interact.
19:53Safety is paramount,
19:54and that is one of the mantras of the police service,
19:56to protect and serve with pride.
19:58And that can only cry out through,
20:00you know, the cooperation of members of the public.
20:02And we want to salute them.
20:05We want to really thank them for understanding,
20:08you know, their rule,
20:09as we continue to put a good fight on,
20:13in terms of ensuring that these are people who are not patriotic,
20:16they don't love this country,
20:18haters, domestic terrorists.
20:20All their interest is, is disrupting.
20:23And they don't make any news,
20:25they want to get a news flash,
20:26they want to be seen.
20:28And we say no to that.
20:29Yes, indeed.
20:30All right, let's take a quick look now at our headlines.
21:03So those are some of the headlines over the last 24 hours.
21:15We're going to take a short break,
21:16and when we come back, we'll take some of your calls.

22:38Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
22:49I'm your host, Mark Vassan,
22:50joined today by Corporal Derek Shabody
22:52of the St. James Police Youth Club.
22:54And we quickly want to take you to a
22:56state of emergency anti-crime exercise
23:00in the Port of Spain Division
23:02that took place earlier today.
28:47I applaud all the officers, all hands on deck, because Trinidad is not for sale, and of course, Tobago.
28:54All right, so we want to remind you of the numbers to call at 623-1711, extensions 1996 and 1997.
29:04So you can have your say as well, your thoughts, your opinions on the latest incident following the safe rescue of Ms. Karim, police relentless effort to stymie the ability of these criminal networks to wreak havoc across Trinidad and Tobago.
29:27And, you know, so many people probably sleep better now in the last few days, feel safer to some extent.
29:36So I think, you know, it's something that is ongoing and has to be sustained.
29:40That's right, that's right.
29:41And we need to applaud the fact that there are certain things you don't share.
29:48There are information, as much as you would like to share there are information that is not really available.
29:53And one could deduce that the intelligence that the officers received, it was worth, you know, it was checked, it was balanced.
30:02You know, sometimes you get intelligence, but you didn't get.
30:04Yes.
30:04That intelligence was well checked, was well reviewed, and by extension, we know that as a result of that, this woman is alive today.
30:12You know, and we hope that that is the same kind of pattern, same type of mythology that we'll be used to ensuring that kidnappers do not run free, and the feelings are ruined for all.
30:26And therefore, this one person that has been rescued will send a message saying, hello, we're on top of our game.
30:32We're certainly very happy and relieved that Ms. Karim has been reunited with her family last night or late yesterday evening.
30:43And of course, I know that it's a very traumatic thing, anybody to go through that kind of, you know, held in captivity for nine odd days.
30:52It's, you know, and it's really something that really plays on your mind mentally, and it will take a lot, you know, a lot of people to assist her in terms of getting back to some sense of normalcy.
31:03But we wish her, in terms of a mental recovery from this, like all other kidnapped victims in the past have taken a long time to adjust.
31:12It's not something easy.
31:13Yes.
31:14Yeah.
31:14I'm sure the son must be happy, the husband, the family was just all embracing, you know.
31:20And I want to certainly commend those who aided and abetted in terms of the rescue and ensuring that this mother return home safely.
31:29Right.
31:29And as the commissioner said, may your soul rest in peace.
31:32We warn you, do exchange fire with police, you know.
31:36And that is a no-no.
31:38Come out, give up yourself.
31:40Yeah.
31:40You know.
31:41Don't fight fire with fire.
31:43No.
31:43There's more fire.
31:44Don't fight fire with fire.
31:45All right.
31:46We're going to take a short break, and we'll be back.

34:22With officers in the North Central Division that took place on Monday.
34:41This morning, we will be going at 12 different targets from the North Central Division.
34:48Utilizing all the personnel that are here today for the exercise.
34:53The life of the police officer is one that could change in a flash.
34:58We're going out there.
34:59We don't know what we're going to meet.
35:00It is important that we become our brother and our sister's keeper.
35:04Look out for each other.
35:05And therefore, even as we step out, please let there be an awesome sense of level of security looking out for each other as we are out there.
38:21and they also seized a walkie-talkie and two mobile devices I know once upon a
38:28time you would hear about exercises that police are this exercise please but now
38:32you're seeing is footage is video that is a little and that's big volumes as
38:38well so police are showing this is what we are doing to keep our country safe
38:42look at the hours we are up because you said there was one in toko then there's
38:48was one in North Central last week when I said I was one in Tobago with a big drug
38:52bus yes so that you know that police are going beyond the call of duty and again
38:57understanding that this is our country and by extension it is absolutely
39:02imperative every when one gun is off the committee drugs are removed it makes your
39:09community safer and we understand our mandate we understand our role and
39:15function again it it can only be effective when we work in concert with
39:20members of the public intelligence reason and by extension in law binding
39:24citizens who ensure and I want to make sure that people understand that it is a
39:28collective effort it is a multiple approach yeah in order to put a good
39:33fight and at the end of the day say that this is our country that's indeed all
39:38right just remember the numbers to call 623-1711 extensions 1996 and 1997 if you
39:47have to have your seat so we just wanted to bring you up to date with a word
39:54worship warfare presented by the Trinidad and Tobago police service prayer forum in
40:01collaboration with Phil gospel churches nationwide to be held on Saturday 9th of
40:11August between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Grandstand of the Queen's Park Savannah in
40:18Port of Spain it's a national day of community partnership the TTPS in
40:23collaboration with several gospel churches and you know prayers also extremely
40:28important at this period of time or that across your our lives that is but you
40:33know bringing a nation together doing police exercises it's one thing but then
40:38the community also having to pray for safety as well and so this is a good
40:43venture the TTPS collaborating with these churches yeah and we want to commend the
40:49TTPS because this warfare this fight this crime fight is not just a physical and a
40:55kind of owner is a spiritual one as well yeah and therefore the police service
40:58must be commended for understanding the spiritual component and the rule of the
41:03church and by extension the power of prayer in order to bring back our country
41:09it can't be just guns and bulletproof and it has to be prayer the warfare is where
41:16we you know we go before God and we say God bring back and wisdom knowledge and
41:20understanding comes from him and it's absolutely important that we commend the
41:25TTPS and and those for the brainchild of this absolutely excellent initiative so
41:29we're going to call on all the churches all those who continue to pray for our
41:33country to come out support is an absolutely excellent it's not the first of
41:38its kind it was done one done at St. James yeah police station and theater I was
41:43then was absolutely wonderful the city DCPD ACPD senior soup officers praying yeah you know for
41:50this country is a wonderful thing to you know just look at and and and say thank
41:55God there are people who know about the power and the goodness of God yes all right
42:00thank God we have a caller on the line call a good evening
42:05everyone on the show I'm just going to find out if it's illegal to hold on walkie-talkie
42:12sorry can you repeat that caller I'll leave that for my good friend here to answer yes it is illegal
42:22it is illegal you have to go and sign up to the telecommunications unit section you have to apply
42:31you have to know what kind of bringing your radio show them the the to transmit and all that is not a
42:37free for all and therefore registering your walkie-talkie or your system or your radio it must be
42:44documented and it must have an appreciation of what we know what channel that you're using because people
42:50are you know can be using charitable you know reception to listen to police and to hear the so
42:56therefore there is an order and there's a unit a section a department that you must register your
43:03your walkie-talkie and your radio yeah because you sometimes you see that those they sell them in
43:08toy stores as well yes I know they have these small ones but there's also some someone that has a quite
43:14a range on it yes it's not the big ones that the army or the police would use yes but those that has
43:20quite a range and they might be selling for a couple hundred dollars yes and the gunmen and the
43:25the committee leaders they use that you know they have a range from one from the block the next book
43:31the radio half a mile even that's right and they you know they have the discussions they they're
43:36redoing that they're sending the code and therefore they use that you know to maneuver and to monitor
43:41police movement so when you hear people having radio and walkie-talkie and wt yeah you have to ask
43:47whether it is registered all right thanks for answering that uh question corporal shabadi we're going to take a

46:16welcome back to be on the tape i'm your host mark busan joined today by corporal derek shabadi of the
46:29saint james police youth club and unfortunately you know we're there again another murder last night
46:37shavon lazarus shot and killed in coover this is a photo of mr lazarus i don't have a lot of details
46:47but um you know another young man's life snuffed out as we continue to see this completely out we
46:55appeal to members of the public when you get the hand the guns out of the committee you could save more
47:02lives we got a gun in the wrong hands you follow they'll be able to continue to trade the war and
47:08sometimes you are a victim of of what our innocent bystander sometimes you're the cousin of somebody
47:15you know and sometimes you may not be connected directly to the the actual individual and you hear
47:20people saying that it was not the intended target there's a word for that you know collateral damage
47:26yes yes collateral damage and soft target as well yeah they can't get used so make sure they deal with
47:31their cousin they deal with their family member and and we have to impress upon people the importance of
47:38when you see something say something it will save a life it will save a family it will save an individual
47:46and you will be commended in terms of understanding your role and function by passing on this information
47:52this intelligence yes police will be able to respond and take these guns out um out of the community
47:59all right so we have a video this was caught on camera uh you know unfortunately you know you always
48:06have to be very vigilant and pay attention to your surroundings so a gentleman is coming out of a vehicle
48:13a vehicle um there and then another vehicle appears to have stopped and reversed
48:25uh i'm not certain what oh what what's that the intent of that vehicle and the occupants they slow down
48:33and then the car makes uh a corner it takes it takes the corner there right so this guy is uh i believe he's
48:48taking something out of his fan or has something uh can't quite see uh based on the angles there
48:55so then we don't see the guy anymore or there he is opening his trunk right of his suv
49:12taking out what appears to be some kind of merchandise or packages right
49:19um it looks like i i could be wrong bills of toilet paper even
49:25yes it looks like that and um placed them on the pavement there nothing off about that so far
49:35um checking around
49:41and
49:45i'm gathering that i'm seeing some
49:48assailants coming up that street there now
49:50while he is uh proceeding in the opposite direction
50:01so they they're walking across from the vehicle and looking at him perhaps so looking at the vehicle
50:07so they're still mulling around in that area there corporal shavadi you're still seeing them in the shadows
50:23yes right across the street
50:26so it seemed that he went to drop something off and perhaps um this is just my conclusion or rather um
50:37you know my my guess is that he would have dropped off something and um
50:41exchange of money that's right exchange of money that's right right uh so
50:46now we're seeing one of the men trying to get into the vehicle
50:55he realizes the vehicle is locked
50:59and um he definitely walks away from the vehicle
51:03wow wow so i gather they were trying to steal that particular vehicle and they thought maybe
51:18he might have left a door open so that they could um probably try to steal the vehicle
51:24because um he seems to have gone to drop this merchandise off and we don't see him
51:31again at least not yet in this video
51:35so i i want to believe you know i guess it's a case of ensuring that you secure your vehicle
51:43um when you're parking in in spots where it's it's not a lot of traffic there you're off the main road yet
51:49and the possibility exists when we have money in the vehicle yes probably have been monitoring him
51:55they know that he's a businessman you know they have done their due diligence right individual you
52:02know so that um the gentleman so there he is he's coming back out now and then the two guys are walking
52:08up the street again yes so it would seem to me that they uh they were intent and waiting on him yes
52:14and here they are robbery a robbery yes you know this is not no um you know play around lotto where
52:26you pull a number they mean monetizing them they know that he's a businessman they know it and what
52:32trade is involved in yeah and the opportunity permits what there's nook is here so they choose so
52:39they grab something from him he runs off as well yes and you know as i said you know you always have
52:45to be um vigilant about your surroundings or else you have to look for the strange card the strange
52:51person or persons um you know there are a number of things you have to do situational awareness as my
52:56friend uh asp pitt would say yes that's right making understanding your surroundings and appreciating
53:03in fact and something it's good to move in in a group as well yes you know you're you are more
53:07a prey when you you move on your own and therefore you have to be versatile you have to be flexible
53:13you know call somebody somebody come out and receive it times of change as we say yeah and therefore the
53:18businessmen need to be a little more knowledgeable and be a little more creative you know they conduct
53:23the business yes certainly and i think you know as you said sometimes you know as a merchandiser you're
53:27on the road alone yes you have a vehicle you have you have um products in it you're going to drop off
53:33collect money but you have to find secure ways to do that and of course sometimes now you even have
53:39to walk with the money or collect the money let them put it in your bank account directly that's right
53:45via you know you have your app on your phone now and your bank account on your phone yes you're
53:50ensure that the payment is there uh before you leave so you don't have any physical cash on you
53:56maximize use of technology yeah banking technology and it save it works and and it is more you put
54:04you less at risk in terms of when you have cash and these fellas they would have monitor you they know
54:10and they are familiar in terms of whether or not you are opposed with cash or whether you conduct your
54:16business with card they don't randomly pick you like that yeah proper assessment was done and speaking of
54:22cash i just want to everybody who have been looking at the sunday express on monday uh we have a special
54:30investigation tonight on tv6 get rich or penny less trying it deals with a lot of what the first
54:36would have been talking about crypto and forest markets markets and people investing in these things
54:43and not getting money after five ten months even a year even and it really speaks to you know uh you need to
54:52check things proper background checks on the individual or individuals that are purportedly
54:59selling you these services online oh yes you have a lot of fraudster and these guys are excellent i don't
55:04want to um cloud their ego but they have studied they have been a study of who you are your business
55:11these men have went and do some serious research you know and people need to really be very skeptical
55:18in terms of how they go about um because it's quite popular in the u.s you see that that it's a popular
55:24thing now and therefore people understand that's the trend now and therefore they bring it because
55:29people want to invest everybody want to have a better life but at the end of the day you don't
55:34want to cry at the end of the investment as i say sometimes something sounds too good to be true
55:39yeah and in this instance you know if you're sitting there and telling people don't worry and you keep
55:46deferring the deadlines to pay out on the initial investment what then do people start to think and then
55:55you're seeing figures on a portal that you seeing that he says yeah i sent it to you but you cannot
56:01withdraw the funds so it begs a number of questions and i know i hope that somebody from the fraud squad
56:07in the coming days will be here to talk a lot more like this yes as well as other things are wrong
56:13that sent us around that kind of uh alleged schemes yeah schemes that's right the fraud squad um that's
56:21a unit that will be able to enlighten and to bring some light in terms of um the offenses and these people
56:28are upgrading their approach to in order to outsmart you you know and you also be one step of the game
56:34so that's that's unit that will be that will assist and educate members of the public to be careful
56:40and tips you know um everybody because everybody's on the global village now they're you know they're
