03:28and first and second division officers of the esteemed trinidad and tobago police service
03:34ready well i was born this is my long day but i'm here yes we're gonna have a wonderful show
03:43and current and all yeah then well i mean it's going to be as wonderful as we can make it
03:47but we
03:47have a lot of news that is very tragic and we also have updates to give to the public and
03:53starting off
03:54with the migrant incident and this is a sad state right now because lives were lost and persons who may
04:02not be aware what took place we have information from the trinidad express along with camp captain rambarat
04:08and his team now a venezuelan migrant man and a six-year-old girl are confirmed dead after a
04:14pyro carrying about 30 people overturned off los eros beach during an illegal sea crossing to venezuela
04:22with at least two other adults still fared missing now police said the tragedy unfolded shortly after 1
04:29p.m on wednesday when a pyro carrying several adults and children struck a rock as it approached the
04:36los eros beach causing the vessel to overturn and threw its occupants into the sea now according to
04:43the investigators many of those on board managed to climb back into the pierog which then slayed
04:48sailed that is away from the area at about 2 p.m members of the trinidad and tobago coast guard
04:54spotted the body of an adult male floating or show and brought it to the beach now later on on
05:01wednesday
05:01between 4 15 pm and 7 30 pm the air support unit carried out drone searches along the los eros
05:09coastline
05:09covering an area from approximately two kilometers or kilometers east of taparro point to two kilometers
05:17west of los eros beach now the search resumed on thursday morning with members of the hunter search and
05:23rescue team led by captain rambarat and he said his team arrived at los eros beach at around 6 a
05:31.m
05:31and spoke with members of the venezuela migrant community who reported that rough seas and a
05:37large wave caused the period to capsize shortly after leaving the shoreline now during his search
05:43of the coastline rescuers discovered a body of a six-year-old girl on a rocky section of the shoreline
05:50about half a kilometer west of the los eros beach lifeguard station and from what i understand they were able
05:57to identify the six-year-old and we will definitely give you more updates as we get from captain rambarat
06:04according to captain rambarat members of the migrant community believed at least three people died in
06:09the incident and that two adults remain missing police coast guard officers the air support unit and
06:15other emergency responders are continuing search operations and investigations again in this case
06:23condolences to the families who have lost persons thus far that we know of and i will also give an
06:31update
06:31from captain rambarat where they identified they believed that the young girl who was found was brittany
06:40palacios and this is from the hunter search and rescue team and they stated that also an adult male body
06:48watched the show at 2 p.m yesterday and the pure cup size about 10 15 yesterday yes this is
06:57just a sadness
06:59sadness and more sadness i mean condolences not only to the families but the entire uh venezuela migrant
07:05community you know this week the media ambassadors we we are doing we're doing safety road safety yes hiking
07:14because we know persons leave rainy season they say and sometimes the river swells or it comes down and
07:21you know without even a warning yes and we were even touching on safety at sea and i understand that
07:29difficult times calls for difficult measures i think they were leaving trinidad to go back to
07:33and i mean and i am certain they would have felt comfortable doing that because of that ship that
07:41many of them would have made so it means to say that we need to have some level of preventative
07:47measure
07:49especially on those coastlines where that have become known for such activities of illegal immigrants
07:57illegal ports of entry and exit and we really need to do something about that because if we had a
08:05presence
08:05probably we could have saved um the lives of um these individuals and i know that we have intensified
08:13patrols along the coastline and person would just seek the window the opportunity when we are no longer in the
08:21area we went we would have left the patrol somewhere else yeah and make that their opportunity but it is
08:27sad
08:28these are unnecessary risks that persons are taking maybe they don't have the finances to get to venezuela but look
08:34at it they lost their lives
08:35yes and i'm still remaining on sea a national also lost his life and again condolences to the family
08:42captain dies after rescue now according to the trinidad express i was after the six crew members of a missing
08:50fishing vessel were found alive on tuesday night the ship's captain has died now the ministry of defense
08:56confirmed that last night that in the hours following the rescue of the crew of the fishing vessel of saint
09:03vincent savon one member of the rescue rescue crew 66 year old trinidadian ship captain anthony moray
09:13started exhibiting signs of shallow breathing although appearing stable ensuring no signs of pain or discomfort
09:20he later died in a release signed by defense minister wayne sturge the ministry apologized for withholding the
09:27announcement of moray's death until his family was informed once again condolences going on to the
09:34family yes condolences again on behalf of each man and tobago police service i saw i looked at it on
09:40news last night i saw there was some issue with the vessel yes yeah sad and it just goes to
09:46show that
09:47you know sometimes we really need to take the necessary safety precautions you know sometimes you might
09:54here safety is really an important issue you know i like for instance every events where you will see
10:00the fire service may ask ensure that those persons cooking and not cooking on their tent make sure that
10:06they have a fire extinguisher make sure the dj have a fire extinguisher on stage and a lot of persons

10:11being why there's not that they're not being miserable another yes not that the authorities are being miserable but
10:17you know just in case nobody wants to get an accident but we put insurance on our vehicle just in
10:25case so
10:26we need to take the extra step to make sure we are safe just in case put on your seat

10:33make sure you lock your doors when you're coming out your vehicle and you know you're just running out for
10:38two minutes switch off the vehicle and take out the keys just in case you never know right yeah now

10:52not sure if the officers from trinidad and tobago or from another region but it was very disturbing to

11:14we have no confirmation to say it is indeed a trinidad and tobago police officer i understand it is a
11:22police officer from another caribbean country however it is to be confirmed okay but i haven't heard anything
11:30up to this time so i wouldn't want to stand here and speculate all right now we have a media

11:36and this one is of importance because we received this update and it's from the minister of homeland
11:41security which states the minister of homeland security revokes preventative detention orders of
11:48dominic hadid and genevieve hadid now july 23 2026 it states i have today revoked the preventative
11:57detention orders in the case of dominic hadid and genevieve hadid on the 24th of june 2026 the
12:03detainees were arrested by the trinidad and tobago police service and detained as part of a criminal
12:09investigation now the criminal investigation remains ongoing and of course we'll listen to see more of
12:16that media release you could go on the ministry of homeland security's page to get more on of course
12:25or what news at seven will give us an update as well further update yes me i have no comments

13:07police service anti-extortion unit with fraud extortion and other related offenses has been granted
13:14bail in the sum of two hundred thousand dollars following her appearance before master sarah the
13:20silver at the san fernando magistrate court on monday the 20th july 2026 the matter was adjourned to
13:27september 4th 2026 the accused michelle lisa guy and d lutchman was charged with obtaining money by false and false
13:39pretends demanding money with menace kidnapping and simple robbery now the charges arose out of an
13:46investigation conducted by the ttps anti-extortion unit into allegations that between july 2021 and may
13:542026 the accused falsely represented herself as an employee of the ministry of social development and
14:01family services and promised to facilitate government assistance for a victim to rebuild her home in
14:09exchange for monthly payments of twenty five hundred dollars now asb i said you know what let me do the
14:14max here because it's five years right that this person has been extorting this individual and i find it
14:21be more than this 200 that they gave you the two hundred thousand dollars bill twenty five hundred
14:26dollars by four weeks twelve months by five years that's how we're going right so twenty five hundred
14:33dollars by four weeks is ten thousand ten thousand by twelve months is a hundred and twenty thousand dollars
14:39twelve months by five years is six hundred thousand dollars you gonna fix your house already i'm

17:00getting things off the street right it could be that persons are going into hiding and quivering yeah
17:07from the excellent work by the chin and the bigger police service you think so it's a possibility
17:13maybe we would have gotten all or the majority of it so there's a little bit left there's a slight
17:18residue
17:20well we open so long you look at this speechless again you know no no no no just saying fingers
17:25crossed because you remember we we saw what happened with the um gun while the gang we are assuming is

17:54And as I said, we always need the members of the public to help us with respect to that.

18:04Sometimes you're being proactive and then you realize,
18:06hey, there's a situation here because our resources are not infinite.
18:09So where there are other situations, we may have to redeploy our resources
18:14and then you tend to find the migration of crime and crime displacement,
18:17how the crime continues to move from one area as we move.
18:20And I keep telling persons, there are many times something happens
18:24and the police was just here, the police just passed.
18:27Well, just to update our very own also on the Trinidad Express,
18:31made it clear, TTPs ramps up response.

18:38after what we witnessed, they're not playing.

27:43I was told don't call the names.
27:47But as a retiree of the defense force after serving for 35 years, I think it's wrong for police not
27:58putting up their flag at the station.
28:02On two occasions, I have to pass and stop, come up for a night if I'm going to the station
28:09and tell them, at 20 past 7, the flag is still flying.
28:13And another time, at 6.15, when I went to the station, they were playing cards and the flag up.
28:23I am a patriotic person, right?
28:26Should I call that station name?
28:29Well, you can call the station's name, not the people that you dealt with.
28:32Right.
28:33It's the Coover police station.
28:35Yeah.
28:36They are breaking all the rules by parking.
28:39Police officers are parking on a small gate where the crash cars are and pedestrians have to walk in the
28:46road.
28:48Police officers who have vehicles.
28:51That is looking so bad.
28:53And there is two ropes on the flag.
28:56Pull.
28:57And for the past four weeks, no flag has been flown.
29:02There was a town meeting once in Coover.
29:05And I would have called the inspector's name.
29:08But I spoke to him.
29:09He told me that the rope was broken.
29:11And the next day, the corporation vehicle with the boom put up a flag.
29:17A flag, rope and flag.
29:20This does not look good for police or all military persons because we fall under military when you are police.
29:31The only difference is police officers' rights and defense force rights are different.
29:37It is a shame and disgrace to the Coover police station for that unlawful act that is taking place on
29:47the station.

29:57Mr. Husbands, there is something called, in an office of duty, there is something called refresh.
30:04Right.
30:05So an officer is entitled to a little rest, entitled to a little relaxation.
30:08It doesn't say that we didn't have any patrol outside.
30:11It doesn't say that the district wasn't being policed.
30:14It could have been that two men coming on refresh for the last patrol, a fresh two going out,
30:19so they decide I eat and I'm a food digesting, let me play some cards.
30:22And I know a person sitting there saying, he's making excuses for them, he was making excuses for them.
30:26But police officers are human beings.
30:28I wouldn't say make an excuse, but I don't think it should be there for people to see you playing
30:32cards.
30:33All right, and that is it.
30:34Now, it's like I tell some person sometimes, you know, sometimes you shift for 24 hours.
30:41And you have small strength, but you're policing the district.
30:48And I'm saying, even if somebody's on refresh, if your strength's small, just go somewhere right away in case something
30:55happens,
30:55they could call out and they could come out and assist.
30:57So we do operate under a lot of constraints at times with respect to the parking.
31:03Parking has always been an issue in and around police stations, and I will tell you that because I worked
31:10in the Western Division.
31:11St. James Police Station has the same issue as well.
31:16And then, if the citizens, you know, we always like to point fingers.
31:23I don't know if you ever pass by a Western Police Station and see how much crashed vehicles are in
31:28the yard.
31:29You know who those belong to?
31:30Not the police, no.
31:32The citizens.
31:33Because when your vehicle is involved in a major accident and insurance pay you off, they're not coming back for
31:39the vehicle.
31:39So why are you all carrying over it?
31:41Because we are not the owners of the vehicle.
31:44Some of the persons died.
31:45Some of the persons migrated.
31:47We have had many exercises to try to move some of those vehicles.
31:51Because sometimes you move a vehicle and you end up in a lawsuit.

31:56I kid you not.
31:57Yeah, but you all should find a way to use the laws.
32:00One of the things I suggested when I was in the Western Division is that we put something on the
32:04newspapers and, you know, run it for a particular amount of time.
32:07But then we have to get funding for that as well.
32:09We'll have to go to the commissioner.
32:11He could probably say, well, I will action it and pay for the ads.
32:13Because we have a lot, a lot of the relic vehicles.
32:16No, but apart from wasting that money, when someone comes in to make a report and there's an accident and
32:22it is there, and you do the report, they have to also sign a document stating after a month or
32:29after the investigation, you have not picked up your vehicle, it is gone.
32:35That's all you have to do.
32:36You have to put nothing in your papers.
32:37Well, the amount of vehicles that are there and for how long they have been there, they have become a
32:41health hazard.
32:42The same way you'll have to give a receipt for when people give a report, the same way let them
32:47sign something saying if you leave the vehicle here after a certain period, it is gone.
32:51Because I am certain that if we move half of the vehicle, all the officers reporting for duty will have
32:58space to pass.
32:59Yes, all they need to clear up these spaces, man.
33:01And how the country has been designed now.
33:04I mean, everybody, more cars are selling than anything else.
33:07At some point in time, I mean, now we see that you would always have traffic.
