01:53My story is an Aalto story.
02:01I really know my chic scale was terrible.
02:03In between a year time, I got that level one.
02:06I completed the one.
02:07That was so, that was like a dream.
02:09An Aalto for a long while, I'm not lying.
02:11An Aalto jump out, I call it a challenge.
02:13It was hard, but a fight still.
02:15I started to feel really nice.
02:17I started to feel sweet about myself.
02:18Before Aalto, I was so nervous, never understand a lot of things.
02:23Aalto is a nice place to learn.
02:25Like any student in this program, Made in Music, or the other students,
02:30will tune and help out that student.
02:33The teachers are very wonderful, which is one thing I love.
02:35The next thing I love about it, it's free.
02:38You can't study what a person is making, the perception of a person.
02:42You have to focus on what you want.
02:44I am enjoying every moment in Aalto.
02:46Today now, I can read, I can write, I can spell.
02:52Get into Aalto, so you can write your story.

03:33Welcome to Beyond the Tape, I'm your host, Mark Bassan.
03:50Welcome to our viewers across Trinidad and Tobago,
03:53and of course, our global viewers, including our brothers and sisters in the Isles of Grenada.
03:58Well, over the weekend, we had a really tragic shooting,
04:03as well as some drunkenings in the Mearo and Cedrus area.
04:08Of course, we are aware that, you know,
04:10persons were going to purchase doubles in the Canoopia area,
04:14when there was an altercation between some men and an individual,
04:18regarding a parking space.
04:20And unfortunately, of course, these men went back to their vehicles,
04:23and they got knives, and armed knives attempted to attack the,
04:28well, they attacked the lone male occupant near the doubles area,
04:34and he was stabbed in his neck.
04:35Of course, in trying to defend himself, because he was a licensed firearms user,
04:40he shot back at the assailants who attacked him,
04:43and unfortunately, and right sadly, of course,
04:47one of the persons that was struck during that exchange of gunfire
04:51was the victim's mother, who later passed away at the hospital.
04:59And we later learned that the prison authorities also,
05:04a student release indicating it was a duty prison officer,
05:07and of course, the police continue in investigations,
05:10but I understand that some of these suspects are now in police custody,
05:15who were involved in the attack against the prison officer.
05:19And of course, today with us is none other than Captain Valance Rambarat
05:24from the Hunter, Sage, and Rescue Team.
05:26Welcome, sir. How have you been?
05:28Thanks, Mark.
05:30I've been fine overworked again on the weekend, as usual,
05:34but I just want to say three things before we begin,
05:36or at the start of the program, on behalf of Hunter's Search and Rescue Team,
05:42let me extend our greetings to the women
05:45who make up the Trinidad and Tobago police service,
05:48because they are currently celebrating 70 years
05:52of having females in the police service.
05:57And secondly, Mark, on the way up, I met two fans of Beyond the Team.
06:03They are Canetop and Silicone,
06:05and they are from the village of St. Julian in Princess Town.
06:09I met them in Eckers Village in Williamsville,
06:14and they said they follow the program every day,
06:19and I did say, I would say hi to them on air,
06:22and so shout out to Canetop and Silicone.
06:25But Mark...
06:26I think those are aliases, eh?
06:27Yeah, they are.
06:28They didn't even give me their real names,
06:30but they were looking on,
06:31so I did keep my promise.
06:34Mark, it was a very difficult weekend for us,
06:37and it was so because on Saturday,
06:39two men, each in their early 30s,
06:44would have gotten into difficulties
06:46while building at two different locations,
06:49Cedras and Miaro,
06:50and we were called into action very early on Sunday morning
06:54at about 3 a.m.
06:56I had to break the team into two.
06:58I led the mission in Miaro,
06:59and we had another part of the team heading down to Cedras.
07:04Both teams got there at 4 a.m.
07:05and began searching.
07:07So just to go through the names,
07:10and earlier in the week,
07:11we had a drowning in Balandra,
07:13Pensant Bay to be exact,
07:15and another early guy in his early 30s lost his life.
07:20Thankfully, all three bodies were recovered.
07:23So there, Andre Clark from Arima,
07:27he drowned in Pensant Beach,
07:30so we extend our condolences to him,
07:33and then as well,
07:35we had, we have the Dodun guy,
07:40Nigel Dodun from Barapo.
07:43He got into difficulty while building
07:45in the Cedras district,
07:48and then we had Rabindranath Sao,
07:51who got into difficulty.
07:53All gentlemen in the early 30s,
07:55and I thought I would speak very early in this program
07:57about what's the state of play
07:59at our nation's beaches right now.
08:02Historically, August is one of the best months
08:05to be done on our beaches,
08:07simply because it's hurricane season,
08:09and most of the weather systems are north,
08:13and the moisture,
08:15and they're very, very,
08:17the seas appear to be calm.
08:19Wilson Miaro, I did this video here, Mark,
08:23and we're not hearing the audio,
08:25I think,
08:26but this is what are recurrent these days.
08:29You see where the sand is tuning
08:31into the back there,
08:32and if you watch something,
08:34there are waves running perpendicular
08:35to the shore as well.
08:37I don't know if Jackie could get it first.
08:40They're not coming in parallel to the shore.
08:43There are waves.
08:44You see the tune in sand there,
08:46and there's one where,
08:48you know, part of this video
08:49where you're seeing waves running
08:51perpendicular to the shore,
08:53and we call this a very difficult area
08:56to be in a vast ocean that is,
09:00look, it's there.
09:00You see it's running perpendicular to the shore.
09:02Yes, I'm seeing it there.
09:03So these are the signs we ask you
09:05to pay attention to.
09:07The sea looks flat as if it's lying down.
09:09In the background,
09:11Miaro is pretty nice at this time,
09:13but you've got to look out for these areas here
09:15and be able to spot that recurrent.
09:18Look, the recurrent is in the middle.
09:19So you have a white-up wave on the left one
09:21and the right and the water forcing its way
09:25through the middle,
09:26breaking the white-ups.
09:27That's a recurrent.
09:29It exists from the shoreline
09:31and it heads out to sea for about 200 feet.
09:34And if you could withstand,
09:36if you do not panic in a recurrent,
09:39it will toss you right to the back there
09:40about 200 feet
09:42just behind the breakers there.
09:44Right.
09:44So if you do not panic,
09:46you could survive a recurrent
09:47if you can't swim.
09:49And we do expect you to fight a recurrent.
09:51These are prevalent throughout the country
09:53around all our beaches.
09:56It's called Nicey Beaches, man.
09:58And so you save us having to go out.
10:01If you look for these,
10:02you save hunters, search and rescue team
10:05from leaving their homes
10:07and as well as missing trend at night, right?
10:10That's playing Sunday morning.
10:12Yeah.
10:13But we have to do our jobs.
10:15We get out there and we look for people, right?
10:17So this is a really good video
10:20of existing difficult conditions
10:22to bathe in in the Mero district.
10:26And 90% of the beach is normally good to bathe.
10:30You have this occurring in pockets here and there.
10:32Yeah, it's a really educational footage
10:38to show and share with persons
10:40so that they can identify exactly
10:42what is a recurrent,
10:43what it looks like
10:44and how to avoid it at all costs.
10:47If you are not sure,
10:48just don't go into the water.
10:49Yeah, you don't go at all.
10:51And some people, you know,
10:53the comments on our page,
10:54they're saying they actually bathe in the sand.
10:56But, I mean, we have lovely beaches
10:58in Trinidad and Tobago.
11:00The guy in,
11:01I don't even remember the story,
11:03the guy in Ballandra.
11:05He was chasing a football.
11:07Right.
11:08And it fell down in that rocky area
11:10in Penzant Beach.
11:11We didn't go because,
11:13simply because we're not expert divers as yet.
11:16But these,
11:17what you're seeing here,
11:18our team in Cedrus,
11:21you're seeing the Columbus Bay area,
11:23in that area called the Three Sisters.
11:26That rock out there
11:27is where the gentleman
11:27was trying to swim to.
11:29And our resident in Cedrus
11:30is saying that anybody
11:32who tries to reach
11:33to that rock out there
11:34has always drawn.
11:35Wow.
11:36So, if you're in Columbus Bay,
11:37do you ever try to reach
11:38to that rock out there?
11:40And there are three of them,
11:41do you ever try to reach
11:43to those?
11:43Because Cedrus is,
11:46that area,
11:46Columbus Bay,
11:47there are lots of currents at play.
11:50It appears to look calm here now.
11:52Yes.
11:53And you see,
11:53it's very deceptive.
11:55Yes.
11:55Look how very calm.
11:56And right now,
11:57all our beaches
11:58are like that throughout the country,
12:00right?
12:00Very, very calm.
12:02So, there is a bit of deception
12:03out there.
12:04There's always
12:04nearshore currents,
12:07longshore currents,
12:08and undercurrents at play
12:10in our nation's seas.
12:12So, we're asking people
12:13to be very careful about that.
12:16But coming back,
12:17if you remember,
12:17they drowned in the Matura River
12:19where the grandmother said,
12:21it was alleged
12:22that his child's slippers
12:24floated up.
12:25She went for that.
12:26In the case in Ballandra,
12:29he went after the football.
12:31And so,
12:31you have to be careful.
12:32These are material things.
12:34Let them go.
12:34You could always get
12:35these things replaced.
12:36Look,
12:37pay attention to your life.
12:39And Mark,
12:39we were down
12:40after having a tough search,
12:43both in me
12:43and Ron Cedrus.
12:44We came down
12:46to Endeavor.
12:47Remember,
12:47Rishma Puran,
12:48who has been missing.
12:48Yes, 57 days now missing.
12:50Yes, 57 days
12:51she has been missing
12:52and we attended
12:53a vigil.
12:55It's called
12:56an awareness vigil.
12:58Just to continue
12:59to bring attention
13:00to her case.
13:01This 41-year-old lady
13:04seems to have vanished
13:06into 10 years.
13:07We conducted searches
13:08throughout the Endeavor district
13:12and Shagwana's district.
13:14And, you know,
13:15teammates really turned out
13:17because, you know,
13:18we want to find her.
13:19So, if members
13:20of the public out there,
13:21if you have information
13:22in terms of how we can,
13:24you can assist us
13:25to locate
13:26Rishma Puran,
13:28please call
13:29799-1453
13:31or 999-555-800
13:34tips
13:34or any nearest
13:35police station.
13:36And,
13:37the residents
13:39down there
13:39turned out
13:40they're very concerned
13:41for Rishma.
13:41They know how well
13:42she would walk
13:43up and down,
13:44you know,
13:44that area each day.
13:46So,
13:47this was another event
13:48we had
13:49on the weekend,
13:51Mark.
13:52Yes,
13:52certainly.
13:53All right.
13:55Well,
13:55I hope for that
13:56at some point
13:56anybody with information
13:58about the whereabouts
13:59of Mrs. Puran
14:00will contact
14:02the Hunter's
14:02Search and Rescue
14:03or 800 tips
14:04or any police station
14:06there is to you,
14:06of course,
14:07with any kind
14:08of information.
14:08I'm sure her family
14:09members are rather anxious
14:10and we're hopeful
14:11that it comes to,
14:13you know,
14:13a fruitful end,
14:14you know,
14:15her search.
14:16Yeah.
14:17So,
14:17we were talking
14:17earlier on
14:18about this incident
14:19on Saturday morning
14:21in the Kunupia area
14:22and you have to often
14:23wonder,
14:24you know,
14:24when you go to
14:25public spaces
14:25and you get into
14:26arguments with persons,
14:28you know,
14:28you have to be mindful
14:29you don't know
14:29what these persons
14:31might have in their
14:31possession
14:32and in this case,
14:34of course,
14:35that altercation
14:36escalated
14:37to where,
14:39unfortunately,
14:40they attacked
14:40a victim.
14:42The victim was
14:43armed with
14:44a licensed
14:45firearm
14:46and defending
14:48himself,
14:48of course,
14:50he shot
14:50at these
14:50assailants
14:51with their
14:53knives
14:53and then,
14:54unfortunately,
14:56he shot
14:56his mother,
14:58Susan Medrano
14:59St. Louis
14:59of Ril-Ril
15:00Wood Enterprise,
15:01pronounced dead
15:02a short while
15:03after at the
15:04Eric Williams
15:05Medical Sciences
15:06complex
15:06and the police
15:09did detain
15:11the prison
15:13officer
15:14for questioning,
15:15of course,
15:15and he would have
15:16given them
15:16as much information
15:17as he could have
15:18related what would
15:20have transpired
15:21in this
15:21tragic incident
15:24here
15:24and,
15:25you know,
15:26it's really sad
15:27that you go to
15:28a public space
15:30to,
15:30you know,
15:31get doubles
15:31or do something
15:33and something like
15:34this can happen
15:35in the blink
15:35of an eye
15:36and if you,
15:38sometimes it's just
15:39better to
15:39leave things as is
15:41and not get involved
15:42in any kind of
15:43arguments
15:43because you don't
15:44know who
15:44has a licensed
15:45firearm,
15:46you don't know
15:46who has an illicit
15:47firearm,
15:48you don't know
15:48what that person
15:49or persons
15:50might be capable
15:50of
15:51and the sad
15:52ending to this
15:53was that
15:54in trying to
15:54defend himself
15:55and I guess
15:56his mother
15:56to some extent
15:57somewhere along
15:59the lines,
16:00I don't know
16:00if it's a stray
16:01bullet,
16:01bullet might have
16:02ricocheted,
16:02we don't know,
16:03they're still
16:03doing investigation
16:04his mother
16:05was fatally
16:06shot.
16:07Yes,
16:07so condolences
16:08to the family,
16:11this entire
16:11incident is
16:13unfortunate,
16:14Mark,
16:14and I think
16:15you said
16:15the correct thing,
16:16immediately
16:17and you get
16:18sense that
16:18a situation
16:19is arising
16:20that is unhealthy,
16:22try and
16:22de-escalate
16:23the situation
16:24and stop
16:25being reactive,
16:26I have always
16:27said try
16:29and respond,
16:30don't react
16:30because immediately
16:32you start
16:33to react,
16:34tempers,
16:35flare and
16:35the situation
16:36escalates,
16:38so it's better
16:39to leave
16:39the situation
16:40if you have
16:41to depart
16:41in your vehicle
16:42quietly,
16:42don't engage
16:43persons in
16:44nonsensical
16:46arguments,
16:47it makes
16:47absolutely no
16:48sense and
16:49as you said,
16:50you don't know
16:51when somebody
16:52will have
16:52a licensed
16:54firearm
16:54or illicit
16:56firearm on them
16:57and in this
16:58case,
16:58I hopefully,
16:59you know,
17:00I am really,
17:02I am saying,
17:03you said
17:04some suspects
17:05are in custody.
17:06Yeah,
17:06somebody,
17:06the Express
17:07reported earlier
17:08today that
17:08a suspect
17:09was held
17:10in connection
17:11with the attack.
17:12Right,
17:13I hope a thorough
17:14investigation
17:14is done
17:15on this
17:16situation.
17:18Certainly.
17:19Alright,
17:20so we want
17:21to bring you
17:21up to speed
17:22with a prowler
17:23in the
17:24Bell Bird
17:25area in
17:27Arima,
17:28some video
17:28footage sent
17:29to us
17:30and some
17:32friends of
17:32mine who
17:33live in that
17:34area sent
17:34me some
17:35footage of
17:36this man

20:11Yeah,
20:11and fire

20:12seems to be
20:13going,
20:13I'm checking,
20:14I'm adding
20:15the numbers
20:15there,
20:16I think
20:16the close
20:16to 100
20:17for the
20:18SOE,
20:18and that's
20:19excellent,
20:20and the
20:21narcotic
20:22seized as
20:23well.
20:23I read
20:24somewhere
20:24where there
20:25was a hole
20:25over the
20:26weekend,
20:26I can't
20:27recall,
20:27but I don't
20:29know.
20:29also one
20:29where I
20:30think they
20:30just sent
20:31it out
20:31today,
20:32the
20:32Western
20:32Division
20:33would have
20:34recovered
20:34an additional
20:35two firearms
20:35and an
20:36exercise
20:36held,
20:37I believe,
20:38during the
20:38night of
20:39Saturday
20:39into Sunday.
20:40So,
20:41of course,
20:41you know,
20:41it might
20:42have been
20:42included
20:43in the
20:43updates,
20:44but nevertheless,
20:45it's a good
20:46work by the
20:47police in that
20:48area as well
20:48as we continue
20:49to,
20:50you know,
20:51get those
20:52illicit firearms
20:52off the
20:53streets.
20:54All right,
20:55we're going to
20:55take a short
20:56break and we'll
20:56be back.
20:57Stay with
20:57us.
20:57Can you do
21:12this?
21:12As early as
21:13your 40s,

21:2971% water,
21:31but only 1%
21:32is fresh and
21:33drinkable.
21:35Globally,
21:36one in three
21:36people don't
21:37have access to
21:38clean drinking
21:38water.
21:39And with
21:40climate change,
21:41that number
21:41is expected to
21:42increase.
21:43So how do we
21:44turn the tide?
21:46Resalination.

21:58It's not just
21:58about providing

22:00ensuring it's
22:01of the highest
22:01quality.
22:02To do this,
22:03the plant must
22:03undergo preventative
22:04maintenance and
22:05improvements twice
22:06a year.
22:06This week,
22:07we're upgrading

24:05Welcome back
24:11to Beyond the Tape.
24:12I'm your host
24:12Mark Musan
24:12joined today
24:13by Captain
24:13Valence Ramber
24:14out of the
24:14Hunter Search
24:15and Rescue
24:15team.
24:16And I may have
24:17forgotten,
24:17but let's take
24:17a quick look
24:18over the headlines.
24:48So those are
24:55some of the
24:56deadlines over
24:56the last 24 hours
24:58and I know that
24:58you have to bring
24:59us up to speed
25:00for the missing
25:00persons for the
25:01month of August.
25:03Yeah, Mark,
25:04and August has
25:05been going probably
25:06like on average
25:08one per day,
25:08so we got
25:1019 reports of
25:11missing persons
25:12thus far for
25:13the month of
25:14August.
25:14And seven
25:16persons remain
25:17outstanding.
25:20The first,
25:21we have
25:21Caricia Bourne
25:23and she is
25:25still outstanding.
25:27The police
25:27did assist us
25:29this week
25:29in trying to
25:30nail down
25:31her location
25:32so she could
25:33return to
25:33her family.
25:35So we're
25:35asking persons
25:36in the
25:36Maplans area
25:37in Port of
25:38Spain to
25:39please contact
25:40the police
25:41or call
25:42799-1453
25:44Hunter's
25:45Switch and
25:45Rescue Team
25:46if you come
25:48across Caricia
25:49Bourne in
25:50your area.
25:52And next we
25:53have Samuel
25:54Montano.
25:55So this is
25:55the couple
25:56Mark who
25:56have been
25:57missing from
25:57down in
26:00the Laramene
26:01District and
26:02they are still
26:03outstanding and
26:04as the days
26:05go by,
26:06their hopes
26:07are dimming
26:08in terms of
26:09trying to
26:10locate them.
26:11So we're
26:13still asking
26:13persons who
26:15use the
26:16Otahiti,
26:18Aripero,
26:19Laramene,
26:20San Fernando
26:21area in
26:22terms of the
26:22fisher folk
26:23or the
26:23crab catchers
26:24to please
26:25be vigilant
26:27and you know
26:27anything you
26:28see please
26:29report it to
26:30the police
26:30or you could
26:31give us a
26:31call at
26:32799-1453
26:33You may
26:35spot something
26:36unusual or
26:37pick up a
26:38smell,
26:39please don't
26:40hesitate to
26:40call.
26:41And then we
26:42have
26:42Darrell Bramble
26:46he's still
26:47outstanding from
26:48Tonopuna and
26:49we have no
26:50leads as yet
26:51in terms of
26:52locating
26:52Bramble.
26:54So Mr.
26:54Bramble,
26:55so again if
26:56you have any
26:57information please
26:58contact the
26:59Tonopuna police
27:00station or call
27:01our team at
27:02799-153.
27:04we have
27:06outstanding
27:07still is
27:07Kanisha Kato.
27:09She's from the
27:09Enterprise
27:10District but
27:11she went on
27:12the 24th of
27:13July 2025.
27:15She would have
27:16left home to
27:17go to Hague
27:18Street in
27:19Karanaj.
27:20to get her
27:22hair done and
27:23she hasn't
27:23returned home.
27:24She has
27:24three children
27:25at home in
27:26Enterprise,
27:27ages 8,
27:285 and
27:282 years old.
27:30So we're
27:31asking you if
27:32you know
27:32anything about
27:33Kanisha Kato
27:34to please
27:35contact us.
27:36And Mark,
27:37we have a very
27:37interesting case.
27:38This one is like
27:39national,
27:40international and
27:41this came up
27:41this week.
27:42Harry Gubardon
27:43was spending
27:45some time with
27:46his daughter
27:47in Washington
27:49DC and
27:50he's from
27:52Fanny Village
27:53Point 14.
27:54On the
27:5528th of
27:56July 2025
27:57she dropped
27:59him off and
28:00this is an
28:01actual pity of
28:02him being
28:02dropped off at
28:03the Washington
28:04DC airport
28:05on the
28:0628th.
28:07And she
28:10left the
28:10airport without
28:11knowing.
28:12that the
28:13flight was
28:13canceled for
28:14the day.
28:15And it
28:17was reinstituted
28:18on the
28:1829th of
28:20July.
28:21In the
28:22meantime he
28:23was supposed
28:23to try
28:24via in
28:25transit or
28:26connecting
28:27flight both
28:28American
28:29airlines to
28:30Trinidad and
28:30Tobago.
28:32Checks at
28:32Miami
28:33International
28:34Airport
28:35show that
28:37he indeed
28:38boarded the
28:38plane in
28:40Washington
28:41DC.
28:41but he
28:42was on
28:42no-show in
28:43Miami
28:44International
28:45Airport.
28:46Now his
28:46son who
28:47lives in
28:47Trinidad and
28:48who raised
28:49the issue
28:49with us he
28:50did not know
28:51at all that
28:52he was on
28:53no-show in
28:54Miami.
28:54So he was
28:55trying to get
28:56our help to
28:57find out if he
28:58got to
28:58Trinidad.
28:59So he is
29:00still Mr.
29:00Gobadan,
29:01age 64,
29:02he's still
29:03outstanding while
29:04investigations are
29:05continuing.
29:06If he left
29:07Washington and
29:08he was
29:08supposed to
29:09land at
29:09Miami.
29:11What
29:12happened?
29:13How could
29:13you be on
29:14no-show,
29:14right?
29:14Well,
29:15unless he
29:15missed the
29:16connecting
29:16flight,
29:17somebody would
29:18have allegedly
29:18taken him from
29:19Miami Airport.
29:20So they
29:20checked all
29:21the hospitals
29:24and everything
29:24in Miami
29:25International.
29:26In Miami.
29:27So did they
29:27try his
29:28phone and
29:28so on?
29:29He did not
29:30have a phone.
29:30They tried
29:31everything thus
29:32far.
29:32So we're
29:33working with
29:33them,
29:34trying to get
29:35our help in
29:36Miami as
29:36well to
29:37assist them
29:38and hopefully
29:39we could find
29:41Mr.
29:41Harry Gobadan
29:42and he's in
29:43good health.
29:44Even though
29:44he's in a
29:45wheelchair there,
29:45we were told
29:46he's in good
29:47health.
29:48And then we
29:49have Emily
29:49Ali,
29:51who is
29:51missing.
29:52Now,

36:10one of your favorite
36:11segments.
36:13Voice of the People
36:14in Chagunas.
36:15Let's go.
36:15Let's go.
36:15Let's go.
36:16Let's go.
36:17You feel safer?
36:46Yes.
36:48So since the
36:49implementation of this
36:50you have seen a reduction
36:52in time since
36:53yes we started.
36:54I find everything
36:54intelligent and
36:55moving smoother
36:57and nicer
36:58and if the country
36:59changes and
37:00developing and
37:01it changes
37:01people getting
37:02new work,
37:03they getting
37:03new and better
37:04view of everything.
37:06Everything will
37:06change.
37:07Little by little
37:07it will change.
37:09Do you think
37:10we need a
37:10proof?
37:11Did you
37:11any state of
37:12emergency?
37:12Probably just
37:13for a little
37:13while but
37:14they have to
37:14open out
37:15businesses and
37:16places because
37:17they can't
37:17tight up
37:17everything.
37:18Have you ever
37:18been a victim
37:19of a scam?
37:20No.
37:21I am an actor.
37:22Everybody loves
37:23me.
37:23Nobody hates
37:25me.
37:26What are your
37:26thoughts on
37:27school violence?
37:28I think
37:29children need
37:29to develop
37:31and talk to
37:31them nice
37:32and they need
37:33a second chance
37:33because they
37:34have a whole
37:35future ahead of
37:35them.
37:36You know how
37:36to overpress
37:37them because
37:38they don't
37:38have that
37:38sense to
37:39them.
37:40You think
37:41that school
37:41should play
37:42a better
37:42role in
37:43crime prevention?
37:44They can't
37:44really prevent
37:45children but
37:46children if
37:46you provoke
37:47a person.
37:48If you
37:48talk to me
37:49and you
37:49provoke me
37:50and you
37:50keep on
37:51provoking
37:51a person
37:51will get
37:52angry.
37:53They will
37:53be angry
37:54and when
37:55they get
37:55angry they
37:55will do
37:56that.
37:56Any
37:56individual
37:57will do
37:57it.
37:57They will
37:58come to
37:58camp here
37:59but if
37:59you talk
38:00nice and
38:00you have
38:01a personality
38:01anybody
38:02go a
38:03smooth
38:03journey
38:04it's
38:04like a
38:05normal thing.
38:06You feel
38:07safe when
38:07you're at
38:08home or when
38:08you're
38:09walking
38:09you feel
38:10safe anyway
38:10once you
38:11have
38:11love in
38:12your heart
38:13and everybody
38:13like you
38:14and you're
38:14here's a
38:15celebrity
38:15everybody
38:16like you.
38:17How can
38:18communities
38:18work together
38:19to reduce
38:19crime?
38:20Well they
38:20can have
38:21like them
38:21police
38:22youth
38:23thing
38:23and each
38:23other
38:24talk to
38:24them
38:24and they
38:25communicate
38:25and
38:25top of
38:26your
38:26life.
38:27Right.
38:27What do
38:28you think
38:28makes
38:29people want
38:29to commit
38:30crimes?
38:31Well
38:31if you
38:31are hurt
38:33and if
38:33they have
38:34a
38:34greedness
38:34or they
38:35have
38:35an
38:35angriness
38:35because
38:36sometimes
38:36you talk
38:37to them
38:37you have
38:37deals
38:38with money
38:38you can

40:55different
40:55personality
40:56and
40:57I'm trying
40:58to remember
40:59the last one
40:59I think
40:59she gave a
41:00very
41:00interesting
41:01perspective
41:02when we
41:02spoke about
41:03criminals
41:03and she
41:04spoke about
41:05sometimes you
41:06can look
41:06persons in the eye
41:07that's the
41:08one I was
41:08trying to
41:08remember
41:09if they're
41:10evil or
41:10not
41:10and that
41:11could probably
41:12be a true
41:13observation
41:13some people
41:14can't do
41:14that
41:14yeah
41:15and you
41:15could sense
41:16and you
41:16know
41:16women have
41:17a sense
41:17of intuition
41:18and they
41:19could spot
41:20they have
41:20that ability
41:21to spot
41:21danger
41:22because
41:22they
41:23are
41:25natural
41:26instinct
41:27woman has
41:28and they
41:28are able
41:29to sense
41:29and she's
41:30quite correct
41:31you could
41:31look at
41:32them and
41:32you could
41:32see the
41:33motive
41:33in their
41:33eyes
41:34yeah
41:34as I
41:36said
41:36it's
41:36something
41:36that
41:37some
41:37people
41:37have
41:37innate
41:38in
41:38them
41:38yeah
41:38just
41:39based
41:39on
41:40person's
41:40spirit
41:40person's
41:41vibe
41:41yeah
41:42they
41:42can
41:42tell
41:43if
41:43they
41:43are
41:43up to
41:44no good
41:44at
41:44times
41:44yeah
41:45and I
41:45think
41:46that's
41:46very
41:46important
41:47and that
41:47is
41:47where
41:48you
41:48know
41:48your
41:49sense
41:49of
41:50of
41:50of
41:51of
41:52discerning
41:52things
41:53are
41:53important
41:54yeah
41:55sense
41:55of
41:55awareness
41:56you know
41:56as you
41:57say
41:57sometimes
41:57you
41:57might
41:57go
41:58somewhere
41:58and
41:58you
41:59might
41:59feel
41:59a vibe
42:00to
42:00do
42:00something
42:01or
42:01go
42:01somewhere
42:02in a
42:02matter
42:02factly
42:03speaking
42:03and you
42:04decide
42:04to stay
42:04home
42:05and then
42:05something
42:05might have
42:06occurred
42:06at that
42:07particular
42:07place
42:08that you
42:08were
42:08going
42:08to
42:08go
42:09and you
42:09said
42:10to yourself
42:10I'm glad
42:11I didn't
42:12go
42:12yeah
42:12we see
42:12a lot
42:13of those
42:13cases
42:14right
42:14in terms
42:14of
42:15you know
42:15these car
42:16crashes
42:16even the
42:17drownings
42:18their relatives
42:18who said
42:19you know
42:19I didn't
42:20go
42:20I didn't
42:21want
42:21to go
42:22yeah
42:22I remember
42:23the two
42:25young men
42:25who lost
42:25their lives
42:26the 18 year
42:26old boy
42:27and the
42:2833 year
42:29old
42:29guy
42:29was driving
42:30two weeks
42:31ago
42:31I believe
42:32or a week
42:32before
42:32on the highway
42:34near the
42:34Charlie Valley
42:34where then
42:35the father
42:36told him
42:36not to
42:37go
42:37I didn't
42:39want you
42:39to go
42:39tonight
42:39and he
42:40still
42:40insisted
42:41on going
42:42with his
42:43friend
42:43at 1.30
42:44in the
42:44morning
42:44right
42:45unfortunately
42:46they both
42:47died
42:47in an
42:47accident
42:48yeah
42:48and you
42:49know
42:49it's
42:49unfortunate
42:50that
42:50you
42:51know
42:51the father
42:51could not
42:52have been
42:52firmer
42:53with him
42:53and say
42:53listen
42:54young man
42:54stay
42:55home
42:56this is
42:56not
42:56sometimes
42:57you wonder
42:57what could
42:58have been
42:59true
42:59so voice

44:18the earth's surface
44:22is 71% water
44:23but only 1%
44:25is fresh and drinkable
44:27globally
44:29one in three people
44:30don't have access
44:31to clean drinking water
44:32and with climate change
44:34that number
44:34is expected to increase

46:21so
46:23another tongue meeting
46:25coming up
46:25in the Northern Division
46:26of course
46:27in the Malaba Upper Community Center
46:30Malaba Road
46:31Rima
46:31next to the Silvoil Life Center
46:34on Wednesday
46:35that's this Wednesday
46:37August 20th
46:38at 7pm
46:40of course
46:41if you have any information
46:42you have any suggestions
46:44or any
46:44any things that you want to raise
46:46with the officers
46:48of the Northern Division North
46:50please feel free
46:51to come out
46:52there
46:53express yourselves
46:54or give suggestions
46:55or any concerns
46:56you want to raise
46:57and of course
46:58we just highlighted
46:59a supposed burglar
47:01in that area
47:02Rima area
47:03if you have any information
47:04about him
47:05you would like to share
47:05with the police
47:06at that meeting
47:07you can also
47:08come and share that as well
47:10and Mark
47:11I attend the town meetings
47:13in my district
47:14and these town meetings
47:16are very helpful
47:17I'm seeing
47:17I'm now here
47:19for Tablan
47:19secondary school
47:21on Thursday
47:22the 21st of August
47:23so please
47:24members of the public
47:26they're very informative
47:28one
47:28and they give an account
47:29in terms of statistics
47:30in terms of
47:31what they've done
47:32in the various areas
47:33of
47:34under their control
47:35and what is interesting
47:37is that they have
47:38someone from the legal department
47:40who could
47:41you know
47:42guide you
47:43in terms of
47:44your difficulties
47:45and what you need
47:46solutions to
47:47and to what extent
47:48the TTPS
47:49could assist you
47:50very very informative
47:52and I'm glad
47:53you raised that
47:53that point
47:55because
47:56lately
47:57there was a
47:58there was a story
47:59about two or three weeks ago
48:01maybe a month ago
48:02where they are
48:03the Trinidad and Tobega police service
48:04had advertised a town meeting
48:06in the Port of Spain area
48:07and apparently
48:08nobody turned up
48:09yeah I remember
48:10and we are employing
48:11residents of these
48:12specific areas
48:13Malabar
48:14Tablan
48:15and so on
48:16this is your time
48:17to come out
48:18and express
48:20your frustrations
48:21or your problems
48:23in that area
48:24even if you
48:24feel like you don't want
48:26to see it in public
48:26there you could actually
48:27go to an officer
48:28in a discreet manner
48:29approach them
48:30maybe before
48:31or after the meeting
48:32and say you have
48:33something that is
48:34very sensitive
48:34however there are others
48:36that would be
48:36rather vocal
48:37and vociferous
48:39and this is a time
48:39for the officers
48:40to understand
48:41the area that they patrol
48:43correct
48:43understand the concerns
48:44that you have
48:45understand the problems
48:46that you have
48:47so that they can
48:48better save you
48:48I attended one
48:50Mark
48:50to raise this one
48:51important issue
48:52when you have someone
48:53who is missing
48:54and they cannot be found
48:57let's say
48:58to what
48:58when is this person
49:00declared legally dead
49:02because this person
49:04would have assets
49:05they would have an estate
49:06they would have
49:07an estate comprising
49:09of probably land
49:10and house
49:11and bank accounts
49:12and credit union
49:13accounts and stuff
49:14and to what extent
49:16does closure
49:17really achieve
49:18is achieved legally
49:20and I wanted
49:22to know that
49:23the officer responded
49:24that
49:25there are a couple
49:26cases he knows
49:27about that
49:28you know
49:28the relatives
49:29could approach
49:30the court
49:30to declare them
49:31legally dead
49:32but it's an interesting
49:33thing because
49:34over the last five years
49:35during our functioning
49:36we've come across
49:38we have outstanding
49:39cold cases
49:40from five years ago
49:41where persons
49:41were never found
49:42and they have assets
49:43so you know
49:44all these are
49:45little complications
49:46put together
49:48your thoughts
49:48get out there
49:49see how you can
49:50help your community
49:51if you don't have
49:52regular patrols
49:53say that
49:54if you're having
49:55problems
49:55you know
49:56with the police
49:57say that
49:58and the seniors
49:59are there
50:00to hear your concerns
50:01and to try and
50:02rectify some of your
50:04problems
50:04yes certainly
50:05alright I think
50:06we have our first
50:07caller on the line
50:08caller good evening
50:09welcome to be on the tape
50:10good evening caller
50:14go ahead
50:14good evening caller
50:18alright seems that
50:21I'm not hearing the caller
50:23I don't know if there's
50:23a bad connection
50:24of some sort
50:25but hopefully
50:26we'll get back
50:26to you caller
50:27so we have an incident
50:29that was sent to us
50:31today involving
50:32an alleged hit and run
50:34in the San Fernando area
50:36that took place
50:37last Thursday
50:39let's take a look
50:40at that video
50:40alright so
50:48seems that we're having
50:50some technical difficulties
50:51is the caller there
50:52hi caller good afternoon
50:54you're live and be on the tape
50:55good afternoon caller
50:59alright seems that
51:02we're having some difficulty
51:03with the phone lines
51:04this afternoon
51:04so I was telling you
51:06about an alleged
51:07hit and run
51:07in the San Fernando area
51:09captured on CCC TV footage
51:11it seems like
51:13yes the vehicle
51:14just passed there
51:15and it would have
51:18nudged another vehicle
51:19but it seems to be
51:21it looks like
51:23a Porsche
51:23vehicle
51:25the person stopped
51:29and then
51:32drove off
51:34well it seems so
51:35trying to understand
51:36what's going on
51:37you know
51:37oh yes
51:38yes
51:39he looks at his vehicle
51:40yeah
51:41not knowing the damage
51:42he did to the vehicle
51:43previously up the street
51:45looks like a
51:46yes
51:47a SUV
51:47yeah
51:48there are a couple
51:49persons looking at him
51:51he looks
51:51at his damage
51:53and he drives off
51:54and he drives off
51:55right
51:55I have no care in the world
51:57no care whatsoever
51:58what damage
52:00he would have done
52:01so this is a
52:01you're seeing the number plate
52:02there
52:02PCT3
52:03and we're hopeful
52:06that anybody with
52:07information about
52:08that driver
52:09would obviously
52:11contact the
52:12San Fernando police
52:13because come on
52:14you're driving down a street
52:16and this happens a lot
52:17you know
52:17yeah
52:17this is not a
52:19contained case
52:20yeah
52:20people everywhere
52:21and you park your vehicle
52:22rightfully on the road
52:24when people pass
52:25they might rub you down
52:26or they might try to
52:27fit in that space
52:27they might bump you
52:28they might knock your bumper
52:30or whatever
52:31and they drive off
52:32and that seems to be the trend now
52:34yeah
52:34that there's no longer
52:35any empathy
52:36for the owner of the other vehicle
52:38and you just go your way
52:40and that has to change
52:42so you know
52:42with the camera systems
52:43I'm hoping that
52:45he can track the vehicle
52:46get the police to track the vehicle
52:47track the owner
52:48and pay him a visit
52:51let the police pay him a visit
52:52and let him know that
52:53he did
52:54side sweep a vehicle
52:56and left the scene
52:58without reporting it
53:00the vehicle that was parked
53:00or it was shifted
53:01so I'm sure you'll have
53:02to compensate that owner
53:04for whatever damage
53:05that owner would have sustained
53:06his vehicle that is
53:08in that accident there
53:10whether or not his vehicle
53:11was significantly affected
53:13is not the case here
53:14the right thing would have been
53:15to stop
53:16try to inquire
53:17who was the owner
53:18of that vehicle
53:19or even make a report
53:21and saying you know
53:22and leave a note
53:23on the windscreen
53:24saying
53:24call me sir
53:26da da da da
53:26but

54:38we do not we do not have dogs
54:52yeah caller we do not we do not have dogs these dogs ought to be specialized dogs and they have to be trained in you know looking for cadavers yes and what we do utilize is whenever we feel that there's a need for the canine unit we contact them and they do
55:09come and they do come and they have excellent dogs there's a whole infrastructure involved in in in in in in in in keeping these dogs and transporting these dogs and transporting these dogs these dogs need an air-conditioned vehicle to be transported in in in excellent working conditions and so we do have a lot of work on the
55:25infrastructure involved in keeping these dogs and transporting these dogs these
55:31dogs need an air-conditioned vehicle to be transported in an excellent working
55:37conditions and so we depend on the police service and they do respond mom
55:42they do respond sometime not in a timely manner but they do come out with us we
55:47we've worked with these handlers and these dogs we do work with them a lot
55:52yeah certainly that's a good question I guess you know at their times as you
55:56said when you know depending on the topography the area the situation the
56:02case yeah you obviously have to call in the tracker dogs cadaver drugs guns you
56:09need it once we utilize all the time when we requested those for cadaver dogs and
56:13and you know mark there there internationally there are cadaver dogs
56:18that would pick up scent from underwater you know corpses would release bubbles
56:26and that would contain things sense and so underwater they could underground and
56:33and so you know we need to the TTPS to keep building capacity and and I think
56:39these dogs are trained abroad I'm not too sure if they are trained here but you
56:43know once you have a good canine unit it's one of these areas and the TTPS
56:49service that is solely needed in the fight against crime and criminality yes
