03:00Good evening Trinidad and Tobago international audience and of course our brothers and sisters in Grenada.
03:06This is Beyond the Tape.
03:08Now today is a bleak and solemn day.
03:10I don't know if we are feeling like that only because of what happened in the Queen's Park Oval with
03:15cricket
03:16and not seeing us win that match was putting us in a space where it's a bit saddening and frustrating.
03:23But nonetheless, we have to continue and we move forward and we hope that TKR could move forward
03:28into greatness for the other games.
03:30But speaking of moving on, we have our co-host who is here with us each and every Tuesday, Thursday
03:36and Friday.
03:37We have ASP Russell.
03:39Good evening to you, sir.
03:40Good evening, Ms. Husbands.
03:41Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago.
03:43Good evening, Grenada.
03:44And to all of our international viewers on behalf of the Commission of Police, Deputy Commissioners,
03:48Assistant Commissioners and First and Second Division Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
03:54As usual, it's a pleasure being here.
03:56I heard Ms. Husbands speaking about the cricket.
04:00Cricket, yes.
04:00It was depressing a bit.
04:01I didn't want to see it, but that is what...
04:05Ms. Husbands, you win some, you lose some.
04:08I mean...
04:08I mean, again?
04:09It's early in the contest still.
04:12I mean, look at the games played as opposed to, you know, we still have a lot more games to
04:16play.
04:16So, we have to keep the hope and rally around the TKR, you know, and go down there and continue
04:23to give them that support despite everything that is going on, you know?
04:26But one thing I can tell you, the support that will be happening is on the 31st of August because
04:31I understand that it's a sold-out game.
04:33And apart from that, we will discuss how things are going to look with that and so much more.
04:39But last night, the wreckers were out.
04:42They were out and about and choosing any, many, many, more.
04:48Catch up.
04:48Buy it so.
04:49When you're ready, let it go.
04:51Any, many, more.
04:53You today.
04:54Is that how you all wreck?
04:57Yes, we are.
04:58Once I do see the wrecker in the picture and I'm seeing what appears to be an officer,
05:03I cannot say, I say, facts so wrong in the wreck, Ms. Husbands, because I'm seeing a lot of other
05:09vehicles.
05:10There's somebody reached out to me today and they asked me,
05:13how in a situation like that does the wrecker decide which vehicle that they would wreck and which ones they
05:19would not wreck?
05:21I said, you know, it's based on where the vehicle is parked.
05:24Like, for instance, if a vehicle is parked on a corner, causing more hindrance and obstruction than another vehicle.
05:29But in this case, I'm seeing a line of vehicle parked, one behind the other.
05:33So I cannot say I know there was some parking restrictions.
05:38I know this car from somewhere, you know.
05:40But I'm seeing quite, I mean, a number of vehicles parked.
05:43I know this car. This car looks familiar.
05:45You know the car?
05:46Not me. It seemed like that's how the officer rolled it.
05:48This car.
05:49Well, you know, when you're wrecked, you know, it states what you were wrecked for.
05:52So it would be interesting to see.
05:54So that means the whole line here should be known what they're going to be wrecked for.
05:57Well, if all of them are parked in the same area, the whole line is supposed to be, you know.
06:03I know this next car.
06:05It's probably cut me off in traffic the other day.
06:07No, Ms. Husband, my officials are not.
06:09Ms. Husband, my officials are not like that.
06:11Stop it.
06:12Stop it, Ms. Husband.
06:13Because I'm really trying to understand.
06:15I attended the game, right?
06:17And I am telling you, I made sure I found a park.
06:21I don't have any money to give.
06:24But I saw all these cars parked up there.
06:28And they had officers there too.
06:30Just as you've seen the officer who came out of the wrecked.
06:33There are officers in uniform.
06:35And if there's a restricted, it has no sign.
06:37Because usually if you all don't want people to park on whichever side of the road,
06:41you all will have your signs with the labeling of TTPS that is on it.
06:45And the officers could have instructed individuals there's no parking on that side of the road.
06:50Now, if you choose to do that, that is on you.
06:52But it can't be this Congo line of traffic.
06:56Ms. Husband, the funny thing is a friend of mine called me last night.
07:00And she asked me where to park.
07:01She understands the wrecking.
07:02I said, yes, I understand that they're wrecking as well.
07:04And she said, are you at the game?
07:06I said, no, I'm not at the game.
07:07I'm home.
07:07Yes.
07:08And she told me she parked on Chagrit Wood in the vicinity of the Oval.
07:14I said, but that sounds like a place where surely I'm going to get wrecked.
07:17Did she decide?
07:18She told me, well, I'm seeing other cars there.
07:20And she parked there and she didn't get wrecked.
07:22So I cannot say.
07:24Listen, I can't really get the lady wrong and it is just so ironic.
07:28She did not get wrecked.
07:29Listen, that they chose a red and white car.
07:32So I don't know if it's because we're getting ready for independence.
07:35They say, you know what, let's just.
07:36So then we're missing the video, the black vehicle.
07:38Well, yeah, we don't know if there's a lot of black vehicle.
07:41Not sure.
07:42But, you know, you mentioned this and I want to go straight into what will be happening.
07:46The, well, I should say, going into the parade.
07:52And this is a major time for us.
07:53We'll be celebrating our 64th independence.
07:55And there's a route that I understand the TTPS should be guiding us with.
08:00Yes.
08:01I know there was a press briefing.
08:03I remember my staff told me that there were still some tweaks because I remember my staff.
08:08He went to a meeting this morning with respect to the same route.
08:12Yes.
08:13I have been asking for the entire route so I can come and have that discussion.
08:19But I have not been provided with the route as yet.
08:22But as soon as I do, I will come and I will explain the route at length.
08:26All right.
08:27But let's take a look at what DCP Martin had to say.
08:31She was at the press conference.
08:33Because the parade is not in places in the northern part of the Savannah, when the troops leave the Savannah
08:41for the route match,
08:43we will be traversing down the eastern side of the Queen's Park Savannah, heading down towards the top of Frederick
08:51Street.
08:52From the top of Frederick Street, along Frederick Street to Park Street, where we'll take a right onto Park Street.
08:59Proceed down Park Street up to Green Corner, where we'll take a right onto Tragrate Road.
09:05Down Tragrate Road into St. James, heading towards Roxy Roundabout.
09:11We'll then proceed to Coates, take a right onto Long Circular, and then finish at the police Ken Cook Sports
09:19Field,
09:19where the parade is going to be dismissed.
09:21So as in years past, the public is invited to line the route, to come up with their flags, their
09:28bandanas, to chair their troops on.
09:30We now have the additional part of the parade leaving the northern side of the Savannah,
09:36so people can also line the actual Savannah itself for that part of the route match.
09:43In the actual Savannah, where the parade is going to be taking place, members of the public are invited to
09:50come out in their numbers and actually come into the Savannah.
09:53There are going to be bleachers put up on the eastern side of the Savannah for members of the public.
09:57There will be security restrictions in place, so there will be police barriers up to demarcate the actual parade square.
10:05So we ask persons to stay behind the police barriers and not to venture onto the actual parade square,
10:11but we will have security personnel there for safety and security of all persons present.
10:20Well, I hope that person heard the route, and if my memory serves me, right.
10:29As he said, they will be marching out of the Savannah, along the eastern side of the Savannah, make a
10:35right,
10:36and then come down, turn left onto Frederick Street and come straight down Frederick Street, right at Park Street,
10:46head down to where Globe is on the corner, make a right, and then go on to Traged Road,
10:52where they will go straight down to Courts, make a right.
10:55Roxy, make the right by Courts.
10:58Make the right by Courts and go up the long circular road and enter that field there where the parade
11:05will be dismissed.
11:07So we are asking persons to be mindful of the parking restrictions.
11:10Please do not park on the route.
11:13Parking on the route is a shore wreck.
11:15Do not be cognizant of that.
11:17You entered the route and you were going out from the night before,
11:23or I know we have a lot of activities on this weekend, including PAN and stuff like that.
11:29Be mindful of that so that you don't find yourself having to look for your car that has been wrecked.
11:37Now, with that being said, we have some information we want to show the public right now
11:42where it comes to the citations and the duration and parking of places persons are not able to park.
11:51So this order may be cited as the traffic restrictions, temporary provisions of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago,
12:0064th Anniversary Independent Celebration Order 2026.
12:04Now, this order has effect from 6 a.m. on Monday to the 31st of August, 2026,
12:11to 1 a.m. on Tuesday, the 1st of September, 2026.
12:15Now, ASP, you could guide them with regards to the parking.
12:18All right, what I want to highlight first is 6 a.m. on Monday to the 31st to 1 a
12:22.m. on Tuesday, the 1st of September.
12:24So I know some persons may say, but the parade gone.
12:26Yes.
12:27That was this morning.
12:28So I want them to understand that the parking restrictions remain in effect until 1 a.m. on Tuesday, the
12:341st of September, 2026.
12:36Parking is prohibited on Monday to the 31st of August, 2026, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 12
12:43p.m.
12:43A driver of a motor vehicle shall not park on Queens Park West, between Queens Park East and Cipriani Boulevard,
12:56Chantry Lane between Gordon Street and Queens Park West, Keith Street, Frederick Street between Queens Park West and Park Street.
13:08So it means that you could park lower down Frederick Street.
13:13Park Street between Frederick Street and St. Vincent Street.
13:17So there's no parking along that part of Park Street.
13:21New Street, Dare Street, Albion Street, Dundonald Street, Circular Road, Rapsi Street, Gordon Street, the Western Main Road.
13:38On Monday, the 31st of August, 2026, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 3 p.m., a driver
13:46of a motor vehicle shall not park on Long Circular Road between the Western Main Road and Partners Street.
13:53From 12 p.m. on Monday, the 31st of August, 2026, to 1 a.m. on Tuesday, the 1st of
14:00September, 2026,
14:02a driver of a motor vehicle shall not park on Queens Park West, between Chantry Lane and Sinclair Avenue.
14:10Maraville Road between Sinclair Avenue and Saddle Road.
14:14Circular Road between Saddle Road and St. Anne's Road.
14:17The Eastern End of Circular Road between the St. Anne's Roundabout and Queen's Park East.
14:25Queen's Park East and Charlotte Street between Queen's Park West and New Street.
14:30Vehicular traffic and parking prohibited on Monday, the 31st of August, 2026, between the hours of 7 a.m. and
14:3610 a.m.
14:37A driver of a motor vehicle shall not park, Mr. Husband, school it, please, or proceed on.
14:44Queen's Park West between Queen's Park East and Chantry Lane.
14:52Keith Street.
14:54Frederick Street between Queen's Park West and Park Street.
14:58Albion Street between Chantry Lane and Victoria Avenue.
15:01New Street, New Street, Pembroke Street between Keats Street and Gordon Street.
15:07And Chantry Lane between Gordon Street and Queen's Park West.
15:13On Monday, the 31st of August, 2026, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.,
15:18a driver of a motor vehicle shall not park or proceed on Park Street between Henry and Edward Street.
15:26On Monday, the 31st of August, 2026, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 12 a.m.
15:31a driver of a motor vehicle shall not park or proceed on Chargit Road and the western main road
15:38between Damion Street and Lucknow Street.
15:41Pay attention again.
15:43Two-way traffic.
15:44On the 31st of August, 2026, from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m.,
15:49vehicular traffic may proceed in both an easterly and westerly direction on Rapsi Street
15:56between Saddle Road and Wainwright Street.
16:01Again, there's one-way traffic now.
16:03On the same day, the 31st of August, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
16:08p.m., vehicular traffic shall proceed in an easterly direction only on Lady Young Road
16:16between the entrance to the Hilton Hotel and the Lady Young Road lookout.
16:25On Monday, the 31st of August, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
16:29p.m., vehicular traffic shall proceed in a southerly direction only on Culville Street.
16:37This is the important part here as well.
16:40Removal and impounding of vehicles unlawfully parked in accordance to Chapter 4850
16:46without prejudice to any liability incurred by the commission of a traffic violation
16:51in motor vehicle from parking contravention of this order
16:54may be removed, impounded, and dealt with in accordance with Sections 108 and 109
17:00of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act.
17:04My husband's...
17:06You want some water?
17:07It was indeed a lot, right?
17:08Yeah.
17:09Okay.
17:09And I heard the uns and uns from you.
17:13Yeah, because...
17:13And I know you're wondering, so tell me where I could park.
17:15Tell me where I could park because I'm seeing here, according to the Express, ACP, Henry stated,
17:22that it is normal that persons will find a park for themselves.
17:27Apart from that, which is a strange statement to me to make, the other statement that was made
17:34is that the Savannah, as you said, will be...
17:37You wouldn't be able to park in that zone from the Monday morning to Tuesday morning,
17:41and there will be no parking in and around the Savannah for members of the public.
17:47So, they said that a shuttle, a proposed shuttle, I don't know if it's finalized, did you receive anything?
17:52Well, if the organizers are providing a shuttle, Ms. Husband, you know, especially the TTPS, we stand on the road.
17:59Police said they were also seeking to have shuttle services operating to assist people traveling to the Savannah,
18:04although those arrangements have not been finalized, and this was said yesterday.
18:10Now, apart from that, there's hope.
18:13I'm going to tell you why there's hope.
18:16ACP said he encouraged members of the public to carpool and said police had contacted organizations responsible for large car
18:24parks in Port of Spain
18:26in the hope, in the hope that those facilities would be made available.
18:33Well, Ms. Husband, we are making efforts to ensure that persons can't view the parade.
18:37We are negotiating to get shuttles.
18:40I would do some investigation and see if it was successful with any of those initiatives.
18:45I know we are trying to get persons with car parks to open up the car parks so that we
18:47can facilitate persons who wish to view the parade.
18:51So, it's not like we are not doing anything.
18:52So, we are decisions after pay for the parking that would have been closed on the holiday.
18:57I am not certain if there's a fee attached to the parking arrangement.
19:01I cannot say yes or no from where I stand.
19:03However, what I would try to do is if I can get some further information during one of the breaks,
19:09I could communicate with probably the ACP Henry and see if there is any update with respect to the arrangements
19:18that they were seeking to confirm.
19:20Yeah. I am hoping so, fingers crossed because persons will want to come out and I hope that persons will
19:25save themselves $500.
19:27Just so you know, there is also going to be a great show for persons who want to attend the
19:31cultural show.
19:32It will be happening at the grandstand from 5 to 8 p.m. followed by the Silent Fireworks and Drone
19:39Show.
19:40So, you could come out with your family members.
19:42Would they be able to park as well for that 5 to 8 p.m. period into the Fireworks?
19:47If you recognize a lot of the parking restrictions remain in force.
19:52Until Tuesday morning.
19:52Until, yeah.
19:53So, we, you know, we have to be guided by.
19:57But I want to encourage persons to do, you know, to go on the various platforms.
20:00I know that most likely would be guided by, you know, just really go in and really get a better
20:05understanding.
20:06Read it for yourself.
20:07And, you know, deduce from it what it is saying, understand what it is saying, and you make a necessary
20:13difference.
20:13So, police will be all on those routes where people have to park.
20:15Well, yes, definitely.
20:16Police would be.
20:17And, you know, we have to ensure that there are emergency routes as well so that, you know, if something
20:21happens, you know, we can still function.
20:22So, some persons might wonder, but why, if the parade isn't passing there, why I'm not allowed to park on
20:28this street?
20:29But we must cater for emergencies as well.
20:31You know, even for Carnival, even though there's a parade route, there are some streets that will be blocked off
20:37and used as emergency routes in case, you know.
20:39So, bear with us.
20:41We want the support, but the parking restrictions are indeed necessary to ensure that we put on a proper show
20:48without any issue for the public.
20:52Well, I hope you have the patience.
20:53Right now, it's time for us to take a look at what's making today's headlines.
21:20And those are your stories making today's headlines.
21:22We'll take that break.
21:23And when we come back, we'll continue with more.

24:27If you're now joining us, we have ASP Russell here with us.
24:29Now, ASP, we constantly tell people to try to make themselves a hard target and be aware of your surroundings.
24:37Now, the reason why we are seeing this is because situations like this play out.
24:43Now, this ASP is in the Woodbrook area, and you can see the lady who is sitting there with her
24:49bag that is next to her.
24:51And she has not even realized, if you watch the video.
24:55I'm sorry, the video wasn't a bit longer.
24:57Yes, you'll get to see it now.
24:58Now, she is, she's not even aware that someone just took her bag.
25:02You see?
25:03This person's around, she's still speaking.
25:06She has not realized someone just snatched her bag.
25:10Someone, she's not realizing someone, and everyone always reacting.
25:19Listen, but what the deal is this?
25:23Now, listen to me.
25:25ASP, this has nothing to do with gender, but in this case, as females, we have to pay attention to
25:33our surroundings more.
25:35This is just my humble opinion, you know.
25:37We are very nonchalant to things when we're in spaces, going into our cars, sitting down in restaurants.
25:44Even if it is your shopping, you have to pay attention.
25:50How many seconds was that?
25:52Ms. Husbands, I hear you.
25:55Number one, we, we, it's always twofold with Mia, because, I mean, she has a right to be able to
26:07put down her bag.
26:08I mean, her bag is really next to her.
26:10The circle people have a right to wear their jewelry.
26:12However, unfortunately, we are not living in times where, like, long time, where nobody was trying to get your stuff
26:19from you,
26:20that they probably worked for and buy for you, because that's how it is now.
26:24Because he took it as if it, you know, belonged to him.
26:30We always encourage persons to be aware.
26:32We always encourage persons to pay attention.
26:34And you could see how much time has elapsed.
26:36She's ordering now.
26:38And she still hasn't recognized.
26:40And even the gentleman who saw it, look how long he took before he even informed her,
26:44ma'am, look, somebody going with your bag.
26:4935 seconds, I was counting.
26:50What was good is that you see persons run out to probably give, yeah, to give some chase to try
26:56to apprehend the person.
26:57And I want to commend those who raced out to really see if they could capture the person.
27:04Citizens are really fed up.
27:06This is a space where hardworking people are working, persons who are going to get something to eat.
27:12So you can't have a moment to relax.
27:14And that is my thing.
27:16You have to be on edge all the time.
27:18And, you know, especially, and I want to encourage persons to be super careful this weekend,
27:22because this is the weekend before, but school opens the 7th.
27:26But a lot of persons would be getting paid between today and tomorrow.
27:31There will be events.
27:32There are persons shopping.
27:33There are back-to-school sales.
27:35Persons looking for the last set of things for their, the last set of books, uniforms, etc.
27:40are stationary for their children.
27:42And please be careful.
27:44Please park your vehicle in a safe area.
27:47Do not leave anything on the seats where somebody could pee.
27:52Do not leave the laptop on the seats.
27:55Do not leave the bag with the items that you just purchased on the seats.
27:59You know, we are asking persons to be extra vigilant,
28:02because this is not just a long weekend.
28:04It's a long weekend with pay.
28:07There are a lot of activities.
28:08There are events.
28:09There is a pan on the avenue.
28:11There are boat rides.
28:13There's a cricket.
28:14There are so many events.
28:15And I'm asking for responsibility.
28:18Trinidad and Tobago, the motoring public.
28:20I'm asking from early for responsibility.
28:25For patience, for care.
28:26Miss Husbands, I was going up the road Tuesday night.
28:31Two gentlemen racing a B-15, a great B-15 and a dark gray Honda Civic.
28:37Miss Husbands, the Gary B-15 fit through a space.
28:41And the Honda Civic man tried to pass and recognized he couldn't fit.
28:46Well, I saw what was going on.
28:50And I started to mash my brakes.
28:52He was heading into the back of a seven-seater.
28:55God alone know how come that vehicle didn't hit that, that Civic didn't hit that seven-seater.
28:59And we stand here daily.
29:01And we speak to members of the public.
29:04And they're upset when police doing speed.
29:06And they're upset when we have road block.
29:08And they're upset when we have road exercises.
29:11But still, Miss Husbands, they would not behave themselves.
29:15Racing enough, proper racing enough, Miss Husbands.
29:17Everybody's life at risk.
29:19You didn't get your license, please.
29:20I did not give us night.
29:21You were so fast.
29:22And I was just trying to slow down because I wanted to make sure that when they collide,
29:28I didn't collide because he cut me off.
29:30So you realize what was going on.
29:31And he almost run in it.
29:33But after he marched the brakes and the vehicle screeched going forward,
29:38he just slowed down.
29:40And I didn't know where he went from that, from, you know.
29:42He continued speeding?
29:42No, he went to the right lane and he took it down, presuming it's a him.
29:48He took it down for a while and then I didn't see the vehicle again.
29:52I don't know if he continued, if he gathered himself or herself and continued or whatnot.
29:57But these are the behaviors.
29:58And when we are out there doing road exercises, doing traffic exercises,
30:02doing speed exercises, the public vex.
30:05I'm not vexed at all.
30:07I can tell you that.
30:08And many others, they are not vexed either.
30:11It's just, yes, the inconvenience, but you all do know what you need to do
30:14to make sure that we are safe.
30:15And many times when we see people speeding like that,
30:17we wish there was a speed chop in that moment to catch the individuals.
30:21But most of the times, you all are not there.
30:23And you all don't put out a notice to say,
30:25all right, speed chop today, roadblock today.
30:28But you know what has happened?
30:29When the speed chop start, you know the nice motorists and the static lights.
30:32No, they stop doing that.
30:33I realize a lot of people stop doing that.
30:35Well, I would applaud the fact that they stop flicking the lights and warning the others.
30:40Let them face their responsibility.
30:41They must learn a lesson.
30:43Yeah.
30:43Now, learning a lesson is a serious thing.
30:45And with that being said, according to the TTPS media release,
30:48firearms, air pistol and ammunition found ASP.
30:52Great news there.
30:53So police recovered firearms and air pistol and a quantity of drugs and ammunition
30:58in three separate incidents in less than 24 hours between Tuesday and Wednesday.
31:05The mobile post up and running?
31:07It's sound like up and running.
31:08Not yet, but I know three were identified to be in the first.
31:13Yes.
31:14You know.
31:14That's functioning.
31:16Yeah.
31:16So as part of Operation Resolute Shield,
31:19an operation was conducted in the North Central Division on Tuesday, August 25, 2026,
31:25between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m.
31:28Officers of the NCD task force searched several drug blocks before proceeding to Upper Tunapuna Road,
31:35Tunapuna in the vicinity of Blackpool River.
31:39A search of the area resulted in the discovery of 340 grams of marijuana,
31:46along with 80 rounds of 9mm ammunition in a clear plastic bag under a direct vehicle at the side of
31:53the road.
31:54Around 2.55 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026,
31:59police in Penal responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence along SS Earing Road, Penal.
32:07Officers arrived and heard screams coming from an apartment.
32:11Upon entry, police saw a Penal man, an adult female Spanish-speaking foreigner, and two children.
32:18Both parties were separated, and during a search of the apartment,
32:23officers found a black and silver Smith & Wesson pistol and three rounds of 9mm ammunition under a mattress.
32:31The man was arrested pending further inquiries.
32:34Now, during a roving exercise in Aruka later, on Wednesday, between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.,
32:39officers proceeded to a bushy area of Unity Lane, Windy Hill, Aruka,
32:44where they found a bag hidden beneath a pile of dried leaves under a mango tree.
32:51Not an avocado tree, a mango tree.
32:53Inside the bag was one air pistol, a .25 firearm fitted with one magazine,
33:0014 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, an extended .9mm magazine, and 2.9mm magazines,
33:08one of which contains six rounds of .9mm ammunition investigations,
33:13into the fine, our ongoing ASP.
33:16We're going to be busy less than 24 hours.
33:18That is what we do.
33:20We go there, and once the public give us the information,
33:22for which we always thank them for, we work on it,
33:25and we activate our resources so that we can try our best to make sure that in Tobago
33:29a safe place, you see the kind of detections, right?
33:32There's two firearms, there's wrongs, there's pistols.
33:35And, I mean, sometimes I wonder if we'll ever get all the firearms off the street.
33:40I would love that day to come.
33:42We never know.
33:43Where we could get all the firearms off the street,
33:45and we could bring Trinidad back to the place that it was before all of this chaos
33:50and all this craziness started to occur in our societies.
33:53And I have faith that with the partnership between the TTPS and you, the public,
33:59we could do it.
34:00All right, guys.
34:01We need to take that break.
34:02When we come back, we take your calls and more.
34:05As parents and teachers, we came together to establish the National Council of Parent-Teacher Association
34:11because we firmly believe that there is greater strength in unity.
34:16Today, our schools face real challenges, bullying, violence, and fear.
34:22No parent should send a child to school and wonder if they will be safe.
34:27No teacher should walk into a classroom afraid of losing control.
34:32That's why we welcome the Trinidad and Tobago police service into our schools.
34:38They bring expertise.
34:40They bring skill.
34:41And, most importantly, they bring the reassurance that learning can happen in peace.
34:46We believe in unity.
34:48Now, we are stronger.
34:50We are on board with the police.
34:53The School-Oriented Policing Initiative.
34:56Securing our schools.
34:58Securing our future.

37:48As a man
37:49I'm calling a teacher
37:49I'm caught recently
37:51And it's given to the
37:52The person who was saying about
37:53In the name of cameras
37:54F-L-O-C-K
37:56F-L-O-C-K
37:56F-L-O-C-K
38:18I said
38:18It was really really sad
38:20Because I'm so sad
38:22Really really sad
38:23But when I saw the team
38:24Made all those runs
38:25I said it would have been a bit difficult
38:27It was really difficult
38:28You know
38:29You want them to win
38:30But I know
38:30It was really difficult
38:32And it's really hard
38:33I hope officers
38:34This final person
38:35Could be one firm
38:37I hope this final person
38:39Can be something about them
38:40On the left
38:41About the left
38:42Speaking
38:42All of you
38:44Mom
38:44Are you still there?
38:46Yes
38:46Yes
38:46Are you saying
38:47The cameras
38:48It's TALK
38:49as in T-O-K-K
38:51F-L-O-C-K
38:53F-L-O-C-K
38:55F-L-O-C-K
38:57No, no cameras, because there's something called
39:00cameras
39:01Yes, thank you
39:04Well, hopefully, Kuala, you'll permit me
39:06some time to just probably Google
39:08the type of cameras so I can get an appreciation
39:10for what they are
39:12with respect to
39:14persons on their back, Kuala, we always ask
39:16persons to be aware, especially
39:18in the cities, and to be
39:20aware of their surroundings, pay attention
39:22stay off your phone
39:24just be aware of your surroundings
39:26and, you know, some persons
39:29take heed, some persons
39:30apparently they have to burn to learn
39:32I don't know, but
39:34we will continue to speak to members of the public
39:36and I really do hope that they
39:38apprehend the individual. With respect to the
39:40bomb threats, ma'am, I
39:43informed the nation
39:44via a press briefing yesterday that
39:46there's a joint investigation between the special branch
39:49and the cyber crime unit
39:51and
39:53the public will definitely
39:56be updated soon as to the progress
39:58of the investigations regarding
40:00those bomb threats
40:01I think somewhere, some other place
40:04had one today
40:04or yesterday
40:05Really?
40:06Tobago had one yesterday
40:08Tobago had one yesterday
40:09The court
40:10Yes
40:11Now, I just want to mention before we go to the Kuala
40:14the Flock Cameras
40:16which is F-L-O-C-K
40:18they're automated license plate readers
40:20made by Flock Safety
40:22that captures and log vehicle details
40:25such as license plates
40:26make model color and unique features
40:29like bumper stickers
40:31or dents
40:31to build a searchable database
40:34of vehicle movements
40:36So, I mean, that's something you all could
40:38research for
40:39Well, I know there was a pilot project
40:40where we were looking at cameras
40:42that would be able to read
40:44the license plates
40:45I don't know how far
40:47they reached with the project
40:48of course
40:49all those projects
40:50those major projects
40:51call for somewhat
40:52some sort of financing
40:54heavy
40:54Of course
40:55You know, and there's procurement
40:56legislation and things like that
40:57before these things
40:58could even be initiated
40:59and what we would be
41:00relying on is that persons
41:02keep their information
41:03at license office
41:04All right
41:04Up to date
41:05We have another call
41:06Kuala, good evening
41:07Good evening
41:08Hi
41:09Good evening, caller
41:10Yes, please
41:16After the air, please
41:17Yes, sir
41:18I admire you so much
41:19They understand that
41:21I call her, call her
41:23seeing anything on your shoulder
41:24now
41:24You keep now
41:25on your shoulder
41:26but you know
41:26you're wearing it in your pocket
41:28That's what you know
41:33I don't know where
41:34I don't know where
41:35you're wearing
41:35even on your shoulder
41:37or in your pocket
41:37I don't know that
41:38but I was
41:39Two
41:39were self-fulfillable
41:40to decide
41:41Two
41:41and in a sense
41:43the political regime
41:44You know
41:45I have
41:46and children
41:47meaning that
41:48you know
41:48you have a charge
41:49you know
41:49you have a charge
41:50in the sense
41:51and
41:52he's supposed to record
41:53all occurred
41:54and happening
41:57and it appears
41:59in front of it
42:00but in the case
42:03there's someone
42:03differently
42:04person
42:04and someone
42:05different here
42:05you can't talk to me
42:07and the detective
42:07here
42:08and your mom
42:08is being a demon
42:09I know you
42:09can't have a skill
42:11there's a
42:12this essential
42:13you know
42:13he has a wash
42:15and then you have
42:16new rituals
42:17coming in now
42:18now
42:18tell us something
42:19if you have a chance
42:20that
42:21a chance of gas
42:22and it's corroded
42:24and you have to
42:25restore that
42:26out
42:27you bring in new rituals
42:28it's like
42:29forming new
42:31India
42:32and put it in that
42:34coronavirus
42:36what do you expect
42:43all right
42:44so
42:50I hear you with that
42:52but it goes back
42:53to discipline
42:54because I mean
42:55outside of the
42:57the charge room
42:58century
42:58when you
42:59enter the charge room
43:00you report for duty
43:01you are supposed
43:03to report your arrival
43:04and ensure
43:04that you are booked
43:05you are supposed
43:06to be chronical
43:07not only in the state
43:08station diary
43:08body pocket diary
43:09as well
43:09there may be some
43:11sections like
43:12for instance
43:13let's say
43:13St. James
43:14police station
43:15there is a charge room
43:16area
43:17the detective
43:18will come in
43:18and he will report
43:20his arrival as well
43:21but in the
43:22DCID department
43:22they may still have
43:23their own diary
43:24where he's taken
43:25in there as well
43:26so sometimes
43:27it will be
43:27where the diary
43:28is located
43:28if his department
43:30have one
43:30he will be
43:31chronicled
43:32in his department
43:33however
43:33if he has to be
43:34taken in
43:35the regular station
43:36diary
43:36that is used
43:37for the charge room
43:38he would be
43:40chronicled
43:40as coming
43:41reporting for duty
43:42there
43:43in addition
43:44to some task force
43:45because we don't have
43:47an infinite amount
43:48of resources
43:49so one station
43:50may house a CID
43:51the task force
43:52the office staff
43:53the traffic staff
43:55the regular charge room
43:57that's why
43:58that's why I see
43:58so many police stations
43:59that just
44:00have a lot of
44:01vehicles parked
44:02around
44:02so it depends
44:04on how it is
44:05structured
44:05and where the
44:06officers have
44:07to report
44:07but most parts
44:09it's really disciplined
44:10and once you come in
44:11and you report
44:11your arrival
44:12like for instance
44:13when I go into
44:13office
44:14I report my arrival
44:15and have them
44:15chronicled me
44:16as coming in
44:18so once we have
44:19discipline
44:19it should be okay
44:20it goes a long way

46:49Oh.
47:10The sights and sounds of the TTPS and of course the other services, it's also a rehearsal
47:15for the big day, which is on the 31st of August.
47:19What is the answer and show them?
47:21We have a caller.
47:23Caller, good evening.
47:24I would not have.
47:26Caller, good evening.
47:28Hi, good evening.
47:29Good evening.
47:30Good evening, sir.
47:31How are you?
47:32Yes.
47:32I just want to make a small contribution.
47:34Two small issues.
47:37Now, I am an ordinary citizen from the city roadway through Port S. P.
47:42Milan one.
47:44You are a familiar voice of service.
47:46You are shaking your head.
47:47On three distinct occasions, I made mention of the tragic nightmare along Independence Square,
47:57The double stands.
47:59The double stands.
47:59Between the cathedral and the double vendor that's handicapped on the pavement, together
48:06with apparatus of wash hands and water view, and the line of vehicle blocking an entire
48:16lane.
48:16Now, you keep asking the public to partner with the police.
48:22Here is the public that's partnering with the police.
48:26You are eroding.
48:27You are eroding the trust and confidence that the citizenry have.
48:32One, when they pass this kind of information to you repeatedly and no action is being taken.
48:40Now, I am with you independent.
48:42My issue is that I should not be unnecessarily impeded whether you have out my irregular business
48:49in the capital city or any road in Transatlantia people by these people who seem to be unsatchable.
48:56That's one.
48:57Secondly, I saw some time ago that the Commission of Police was out of the country and what not.
49:04And that is wonderful.
49:06That is a normal part is yours.
49:07But how is it that an institution headed by senior executives could take it upon themselves
49:16to appoint themselves as Commission of Police and carry on the function?
49:22That is a constitutional office.
49:24That is an office that is given as an instrument by the Parliament.
49:29Was that done?
49:30And if that was not done and somebody assumed the office, for me that appears to be some
49:40breach within the organisation.
49:43This is my ordinary citizen looking on, I would have curious if please address it.
49:49Thank you so much.
49:50I'll let us talk to everyone.
49:52ASP, where would you like to start?
49:53Where you left off?
49:54Alright, so let me start at the first situation with the doubles.
49:57And I know he spoke about me eroding the trust.
50:01Many persons, when I tell them to leave their number, I do call them back sir.
50:08I do.
50:09And there are a lot of persons who would have called and thanked me on air, right here,
50:16for getting involved in their issue and bringing it to some sort of resolution.
50:19So I don't think I would erode the trust.
50:22With respect to that situation, with respect to the doubles vendor, and I said before,
50:28I too have been impacted by the traffic caused by that situation.
50:34When the public called and the public gave me information on air, one thing I make sure
50:38I do is pass it on.
50:39And I had a conversation with the senior suit, as well as the ECP, and I was given certain
50:48assurances.
50:49I understand there would have been a collaborative exercise between the Port of Spain Division
50:54and the city corporation.
50:56Yeah.
50:58So it's not like I didn't pass on the information.
51:00Maybe I need to echo your sentiments again, so I will do so.
51:04Let me ask quickly with this, because I saw the doubles vendor, and where they used to
51:07be located before, they are no longer.
51:10They are off the pavement, but more into the promenade.
51:14The last that I saw, so I don't know if they moved back onto that space, but I have not
51:18seen them, you know, on the pavement where they used to be located before.
51:21It appears that some sort of dialogue would have taken place.
51:24So I thank you for that as well, because I really don't eat doubles, Ms. Usman, so I
51:28don't know.
51:29Yeah, yeah.
51:29Right?
51:30With respect to the other situation, we understand that there's a process to appoint a commissioner
51:35of police to act.
51:37And I am certain that in the absence of the commissioner, for how the police operates, if the corporal
51:45isn't there, a lot of the duties and the responsibilities is for the next senior person.
51:50Yes.
51:50However, with that, what makes this situation specifically special is that for that to happen,
51:58there must be a particular function and a process done by the parliament.
52:03And I am certain that the person did not assume or sign any document and put commissioner
52:09of police or acting commissioner of police.
52:11Because from where I work, that particular individual, Mr. DCP Benjamin, was very particular
52:17and instructive that he was not the commissioner of police.
52:22However, any commissioners absent, he was the most senior person of the organization.
52:28To just fill in.
52:28So he would have done his functions as the next senior person.
52:32But he was clear in saying that he has not been given any instruments of acting to.
52:37So, just to clear it up.
52:39All right, we have another call.
52:40Caller, good evening.
52:43Hello?
52:44Hi.
52:45Hi, good evening to you.
52:46Good evening, caller.
52:48Yes, can I make a contribution, please?
52:50Yes.
52:51Yes, sir.
52:51You could go ahead.
52:53Okay, I would like to address the feeding white lights on the nation's highways and byways.
53:00Yes.
53:01Mm-hmm.
53:02Feeding white lights.
53:03You know, like the central lights are the chosen lights.
53:08Mm-hmm.
53:09Especially in the rhythm and the heavy rainfall.
53:12Yes.
53:13Very true.
53:15You know, I would like to address that topic, please.
53:18Mm-hmm.
53:19Sure.
53:20Yes.
53:21But didn't it do work?
53:22I was in traffic.
53:23Well, caller.
53:24I was in traffic.
53:25So, I mean, it starts to fade already.
53:26I'm happy that you realize that.
53:27I guess it's even that we weren't painted as yet.
53:30I know the weather is an issue.
53:32Mm-hmm.
53:32With respect to the painting of the white lines.
53:34Caller, an exercise commenced with respect to painting these white lines.
53:38A lot of the citizens, they quarreled, they were peeved because of the amount of traffic.
53:42I was in it.
53:43As a result.
53:44Two hours.
53:46I mean, since once she too was in the traffic.
53:48Two hours.
53:48Two hours.
53:49She remembers it like it was yesterday or today or an hour ago.
53:53All the way to the big room.
53:53But I know it's something that they are indeed taking care of.
53:57I guess when the rain eases somewhat, they would have some more exercises.
54:03But it's some traffic for good.
54:05For safety.
54:06This is a fine of $1,000 for not fixing the lines.
54:16You have a caller.
54:17Caller, good evening.
54:21Caller, good evening.
54:23Hello.
54:23Hi, good evening.
54:25Good evening.
54:26Good evening Caller.
54:27All right, I'm also thankful to watch your show.
54:30Yes, welcome.
54:33Yes, good job.
54:36Now, I'm like to accept something.
54:41It is a problem that's unassuming.
54:45I'm not going to call his name.
54:47I'm just looking for a place to know him to do a COVID matter for me in October of last
54:54year.
54:56Until February of this day, he hasn't done anything.
55:00In March, I'm in a request to get a post and my original documents that I submitted.
55:07Some of these documents were from the U.S. survey.
55:10I filled this speech, sent in two emails and WhatsApp messages to receive my document and my new report.
55:18And after all, now I happen to receive a text on my document.
55:23What can be done with me?
55:29I would want to ask you to leave your number so that I can get some more information with respect
55:34to it.
55:34So you can leave your number with Ms. Jackie will record your number.
55:38And I would just want to get a little more information.
55:41I will guide you accordingly.
55:44Yeah, I was really trying to see here if I could get some information.
55:47But Mr. Ali could also guide us as well as you gather the information from the caller.
55:52You know, it's hard to go through something like that when you're dealing with a matter
55:55and you're expecting the person to be professional, whomever that person be,
56:00to make sure that they execute the job that they said they're qualified to do.
56:04And, you know, when it comes to making sure things are done properly
56:08and you give persons like lawyers or even doctors the chance of seeing about matters
56:15you want it to be done properly.
56:16We have another call.
56:17Caller, good evening.
56:21Hi.
56:21Good evening, caller.
56:23How are you?
56:25I'm all right.
56:25How are you?
56:25Good evening, caller.
56:26All right.
56:27This is the call case today on all the traffic problems that may not be.
56:31So, you know, as we know, on the corner of the correlation,
56:34there are two businesses that are operating there, hardware and street and patient branch.
56:45So, you know, there is a 500 there.
56:47They have dropped parts, right in 25 years.
56:52They straightened out to get done as we go to as well.
56:54I'm in the green.
56:56Yeah.
56:58I need to report to the baratari police station.
57:01Nothing has been done.
57:02And I'm just wondering if that's a need to be found
57:05that the police have in the thing to go to the garage as well.
57:08I have pictures of this.
57:10I have made other reports to the baratari station
57:13as well as the senior superintendent as well who was supposed to follow up on it.
57:18But it is going to be a huge fight.
57:22All right.
57:22So we will definitely have a conversation.
57:25So what I would do, caller, I would contact the superintendent, Mr. Birch.
57:31He and I, as well as the senior superintendent of the division and I,
57:34we have quite a very good relationship.
57:37So I would have a conversation with them with respect to the situation
57:39and see how best we can bring some resolve to the situation.
57:42Yeah, that is very important that we are able to deal with that
57:45because it seems like persons in different communities
57:48may have these issues with businesses that are in residential areas.
57:54And sometimes a bunch of it is residential or commercial.
57:55Or commercial, yeah.
57:56But business has to happen and also persons need to reside in the same area.
58:01And enjoy their property as well.
58:03Yeah, at the same time.
58:04And the same issues we have with bars and stuff like that in areas.
58:06And I guess we need to be more considerate.
58:09But I keep asking that we be more considerate with each other.
58:12But Trina and Tobago, have a great evening.
58:15We'll be back tomorrow.
58:17Look forward to being here.
58:17Yes, say that.
58:18We'll be back tomorrow.
58:19Tomorrow.
58:19It's up next.
58:20BNT continue being hard targets.
58:22God bless.
58:23We're out.
58:27We're out.
58:27God bless.
58:29God bless.
58:31God bless.
58:32God bless.
58:35God bless.
58:36God bless.
58:38God bless.
58:38God bless.
58:38God bless.
