00:02good evening Trinidad and Tobago and to our international audience and of course our brothers
00:06and sisters in Grenada this is beyond the tape I'm your host Whitney Husbands now it's time to
00:12share the platform with the TTPS and of course the officer who is always willing and able to guide
00:18us accordingly each and every Tuesday Thursday and Friday we have ASP Russell here with us good
00:23evening to you sir good evening Miss Husbands good evening Trinidad and Tobago and to our international
00:29viewers Grenada as well on behalf of my commissioner of police deputy commissioners assistant
00:34commissioners and first and second division officers of the S team Trinidad and Tobago police
00:39service as usual it's a pleasure being here yes can I tell you my back hurts from sitting on in
00:45traffic for almost two hours was it the police fault no no no there are two things I'm going to
00:53mention
00:53right my back and your officers they were also busy on the um highway the Churchill Roosevelt
00:59highway and the sun was very hot today so you know my officers told and also the Bissom highway and
01:05I
01:05know persons are stuck in traffic as we speak because of the painting of the um highways and
01:11that is the Churchill Roosevelt highway and the Bissom highway but I am just listen the timing the timing I
01:18know you all have to well the officers I didn't see many officers there they were just really placed
01:23there to make sure things are running smoothly but they weren't there to direct the traffic because
01:27there were traffic signs um for person to merge into one lead into one lane yeah one lane at peak
01:36hours yes Miss Husbands why peak hours why not any night why not we always in the morning like 2
01:42a.m. they
01:43could do that Miss Husbands I totally agree with this you could sitting in traffic for that amount of hours
01:49so unproductive somebody called me today they were on their way to pick up their loved one and they
01:56just every lane they went to was moving so I know there was an accident on the highway this morning
02:02so
02:02there was traffic coming into port of Spain probably minutes to 10 after 10 or something like that too so
02:09you know it's just supposed to be patient I mean the price of progress is high so with development we
02:15will have a bit of inconvenience but it is for betterment could it be done at a different time
02:20some of the things could be I don't know because of the specificity of the road painting if they have
02:26to do it in daylight you know and as we want lights um nobody likes it suppose they do road
02:33works any night
02:34as well yeah but suppose the uh the pain come out zigzag how would coming out zigzag you do with
02:39your eyes closed
02:41but we see it in the night it is reflecting on the roadway Miss Husbands hopefully the the your your
02:47words has fallen on correct ears and they would have a meeting and tend to rectify that I hope they
02:54do
02:55because going forward level of inconvenience it's ridiculous regardless if yes you put it out there
03:00that is peak time even though school is closed that is a time where traffic is happening heading
03:07in different directions and I'm so happy I'm hoping that no one went on the priority bus route to receive
03:13any tickets but persons please will go on your shoulders because the ttps they are they are waiting
03:18to share maybe it was a project schedule for the period where school was open but they decided to wait
03:24for
03:25school to be out so they'll have less traffic on the road but saying that Miss Husbands you know in
03:30keeping with our you know Michigan and Tobago police service has been continuing to see the mental
03:37health of its officers and as well we encourage um officers to live a healthier lifestyle we have
03:43quite a few 5ks and stuff going on 7ks at this time you know and I want to say a
03:49special good evening
03:50to the staff at the police hospital and for the officers I don't know if they are aware there are
03:55a lot of new services being offered at the police health facility free of charge for retirees regular
04:01officers and special reserve free doctor consultation blood works for the ladies packs men free um vision
04:11yeah for female officers whether a special reserve regular retirees vision screening with the trinidad eye
04:18hospital and a lot of other new initiatives coming on stream there's a massage uh therapist there's
04:25counseling and stuff like that free of charge to the officers which are to be a police service that can
04:30be accessed at the police hospital so I want to say special good evening to the wpc rampasada and the
04:36entire staff at the trinidad tobago police service hospital i believe well this is so they're able to
04:43make sure their health is in order and they can move obviously as quickly as possible meaning back
04:48out of their duties now you mentioned the accident that happened uh this morning morning or close
04:54it's a midday do you have any information no i don't i survived because i saw the person only i
05:01saw
05:02and the officers the quick action i guess too because of the woodworks that was taking place there but they
05:08were there to try to assess the situation but i don't want to um disseminate any incorrect information
05:16into the public domain so um if anybody's looking on from the respective division they could probably
05:22just give me a call during the break or something i know most of them have my number but i
05:27cannot see
05:28but i i passed by and i did see the accident i did i saw several officers on the ground
05:33really trying to
05:34control traffic but how it occurred and what was needed at the point in time i know it brought the
05:41traffic almost to a stance still yes it was really bad i know that yes so does it say a
05:46day of traffic
05:47no well i mean in that case i will not feel like it's a major inconvenience because it's someone's life
05:53right so they have to make sure to try to preserve the life and do what is best moving forward
06:00yeah
06:00now um we have some quick information here that i want to bring forward to the public and again the
06:06ttps continues to work hard in different divisions throughout the country now according to this media
06:11release today police recover firearms ammunition during operation resolute and it seems like the
06:17resolute is moving yes because every time we read a media release we get this now officers conducting

08:05bearing the markings creval concealed among three routes acting on additional information officers then
08:15search the vicinity of the vicinity of an abandoned water tank at green acres mover where they recovered a
08:22springfield armory firearm a magazine containing eight rounds of point five or point four five ammunition
08:30and 21 rounds of nine millimeter ammunition concealed inside a plastic bag the weapons were secured and taken to
08:38the police station investigations continue a lot there so so miss husbands would recognize that exercise alone
08:46resulted in the seizure of about three firearms yes who means a bond over a hundred wrongs because one was
08:5668
08:56one was 18 8 21 yes in one day in one day in one day over a hundred wrongs seized
09:05as a result of one
09:06report and move on so they work in and we want to continue to encourage and to commend the members
09:12of the chant to bigger police service when you do such good work you make us so proud you make
09:16the
09:16commissioner feel good you know it it helps his rating as well it helps the organization it helps the
09:22public to you know to build that trust capacity in us i'm asking please let's not do anything for the
09:30rest of the rest of the month for the rest of the year to to to to result in any
09:35negative decline
09:38i will build trust that we would have built and continue to build right so we're just keeping it nice
09:43and steady like this let us speak to the public properly let us speak to them nicely let us remember
09:49the
09:49open door policy please stop telling persons go down the road and take the report let us take the people
09:57report forward it without and nothing is wrong with explaining listen is i had the wrong station
10:02but i would take your report and send it to x station which is the correct station they would now
10:08call
10:08you to do the follow-up yes simple okay officer no problem they might even say i better drive there
10:14one time because it's right down the road you know someone say miss husbands so there's a way how we
10:19do
10:19things we are asking persons when they come in the stations to make their transactions oh god i love them
10:25uh you're not going his officers please people people doesn't meet me in the street missus man
10:30and there's company you know i went you know mr was you telling us to come when you go there
10:34the
10:34officers running us roughing you up what you do in here get officers i'm asking let us let us just
10:40love
10:40up the public please now please please let me just love them up now yes a lot of love right
10:46i take it
10:47out nice all right so with that being said it's time for us to take a look at what's making
10:51our soe update
10:52as of july 16th 2026 number of operations 9668 number of targets priority offenders 2608
11:03searches conducted 3740 traffic operations 5976 total persons arrested 4283 total persons charged 1053
11:18firearms recovered we are not seeing an increase here but we get it gives us a total of 229 ammunition
11:25recovered we're seeing an increase with the nine millimeter once again also the 12 gauge giving us
11:30a total of 4300 dangerous drug seeds we see an increase with cannabis esp well we know there are
11:38firearms to be added yes they somewhat was said there we know the tally with the wrongs will also increase
11:44you know tomorrow and you never know the police outside will be able to increase um marijuana and
11:50as well as cocaine yes so you know we continue to do what we have to get them off probably
11:54you know
11:55you're our best friend our partner in this crime fight it's not about the police crime fight but it's
11:59about our crime fight so we want you to continue to send the information because we know we know you

17:29It's always important ASP to remember the foundation of things.
17:33And we had a feature on the show that we were running for a little bit and we just decided
17:37to bring it back once again to make sure persons are sharp.
17:42Yeah?
17:42So it's time to go back to basic.
17:45Let's take a look.
17:54I'm Sergeant Brent Batson, coordinator of the TTPS Strategic Road Safety Project.
17:59And I'm in the Tobago division together with the Tobago traffic section as part of the TTPS Back to Basic
18:05Road Safety Campaign.
18:07We're going to be interviewing drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, even motorcyclists to check their knowledge on road safety regulations.
18:14Today we are in the beautiful sister aisle, Tobago, where I reside and would.
18:19In Tobago, we have porridge in the morning also and we wash it down with a nice little coconut water.
18:24Now today we are dealing with road safety.
18:27So the question is, how do you know you are a safe driver if you do not know the regulations
18:32or the rules?
18:34So we are going back to basics.
18:38I'm number 21962 PC Nichols and today we're doing a little exercise called Back to Basics where we just ask
18:45any public questions to see if they have a little knowledge on the road safety and the regulations and the
18:51laws.
18:52Right?
18:52So I'm going to give you some questions here and read it out.
18:57And you're going to answer for me.
18:59Sure.
19:00Yes, true.
19:01So here's the first question, right?
19:02If the signal light changes from green to amber as you approach an intersection, what must you do?
19:10A. Stop.
19:11If a stop cannot be made safely, proceed with caution.
19:14B. Sound horn to warn pedestrians and other drivers.
19:19C. Continue through the intersection without slowing or stopping.
19:24D. Speed up to clear the intersection as quickly as possible.
19:29So what is the answer for one?
19:30I will take A because stop and if you can't stop, proceed with caution.
19:34Stop with what?
19:35I would take A.
19:37So you're saying A. You're conforming A.
19:39Yeah, conforming A.
19:42All right, so we're moving on to the second one.
19:46Make a break.
19:48Which of the following actions, when performed while driving, is considered distracted driving?
19:56A. Texting.
19:57B. Talking on the phone.
19:59C. Adjusting the radio.
20:01D. Focusing on a family member.
20:03A. Or E.
20:04All of the above.
20:05All of the above.
20:06All of the above?
20:07Yeah.
20:08All right.
20:09All right.
20:10So, I'll get you so far.
20:12Let me get a hard one now.
20:13This is the traffic signals.
20:15A. And signs.
20:18So this is where we will find out if it is she paid for she license or she definitely went
20:23through the process.
20:24No, no, no.
20:25We have paid for that.
20:26So, how about this one here then?
20:27I stop.
20:29Stop?
20:29Stop or even no.
20:30Stop.
20:31No, there's no emergency.
20:32That is not stop.
20:34That is not stop at all.
20:36Stop will actually say stop.
20:37Stop.
20:37Well, you know, no say.
20:39Wow, that is not stop at all.
20:40Oh, my boy.
20:42It's unfortunate that you didn't get all three.
20:45Well, that's okay.
20:46That's okay.
20:46But thank you for your cooperation and time.
20:49Do enjoy your survey, eh?
20:50Yes, please.
20:51Well, folks, we just had our first participant.
20:55Unfortunately, or fortunately, she wasn't successful.
20:59However, we're still out there.
21:01We're looking for that person to get all three correct.
21:12And that was your back to basic.
21:14I mean, oh, gosh.
21:15Not only do you not get for it.
21:17A tulum.
21:19For even a bene ball.
21:22He wanted her to work for it.
21:24All three?
21:25All three.
21:26But the beautiful Isle of Tobago,
21:27you can get a little bene ball,
21:29tamarind ball,
21:30red mango,
21:32curry crab.
21:33You see, we want to ensure that the officers are aware
21:38of what is going on
21:39that they are aware of the road signs
21:41because this is how the officers
21:43will have an easier job
21:45and this is how we will reduce the number of accidents,
21:48serious accidents,
21:50and road fatality.
21:51The only nice thing is
21:52she said it was stopped.
21:53Well, I was hoping to say that.
21:55So she may not have committed the offense.
21:56Yes, by answering because she stopped.
21:58But, you know,
21:59I mean, at least persons,
22:00you know, seeing that
22:01will know it's no entry now.
22:03Right?
22:04Just to warm back up your memory.
22:06Oh, and by the way,
22:06I like the new hairstyle.
22:08Turn that down.
22:09What are the other things
22:09about the hairstyle?
22:10Thank you, SB.
22:11We have a call on the line.
22:12Caller, good evening.
22:15Hello?
22:17Yeah.
22:17Hi, good evening.
22:20Good evening.
22:21Good evening, sir.
22:23I'd like to really get on the tape
22:25because it's something important
22:25I want to discuss.
22:27Yes, sir, you're live.
22:29Okay.
22:29What I'm saying is that
22:31too long,
22:33we're spending a lot of money,
22:34taxpayers' money,
22:35and police service,
22:36and you're not getting the delivery
22:38of things that you're going to get,
22:39like proper
22:42public speaking,
22:43public speaking,
22:43public speaking,
22:44and so forth.
22:45That is something
22:46we cannot tolerate.
22:48We do it.
22:48We move on from that now.
22:51Okay.
22:52Is that it, sir?
22:54And I don't think
22:55it's a Mr. O.
22:57He wants to be
22:57commenting on
22:58having shoes.
22:59I just find that
23:00very unfair.
23:03So,
23:05thank you.
23:07And we just advise
23:10Let me start
23:12where he finished.
23:13Yes.
23:13I will not
23:15delve into that arena
23:16and comment on
23:18anything
23:18Okay, cool.
23:19I will not
23:20answer in that situation.
23:21Mm-hmm.
23:22They went through a process
23:23and this was
23:24the outcome
23:25of the process
23:27that they have
23:29to abide by.
23:30Yes.
23:31Full stop.
23:33Now,
23:33the money spent
23:34behind the TTPs.
23:35Well,
23:36I understand
23:37what he is saying
23:39and I know
23:40and from my
23:4212-year service
23:44and police complaints
23:45division,
23:46Marco building
23:46in Henry Street
23:47that has a wonderful
23:48staff,
23:49Libra and all of them,
23:50Ms. Wesson,
23:51one of the most
23:52common complaints
23:55is impolite behavior
23:56and that we had
23:57a problem by the way
23:58we speak and relate
23:59to the public.
24:10Yes.
24:11And I want to tell
24:12the quarter
24:13that we have spent
24:14hundreds of thousands
24:15of customer service
24:16courses
24:17to help fix it.
24:18It's a big ship.
24:20So,
24:20it's turning slowly
24:21but we're getting there.
24:23we have a whole
24:25customer service
24:26policy
24:26where there's
24:27a whole process
24:31if somebody
24:31is from
24:32reaching the
24:33customer service
24:33policy that we want
24:34that we designate
24:36for the police service
24:37where there is
24:38a punishment
24:39where there's
24:39remedial training
24:41and retraining
24:42and then we give
24:43them another opportunity
24:44to correct
24:45their behavior
24:46and their attitude.
24:47So,
24:47we are doing
24:48something about it,
24:49Carla.
24:49I mean,
24:50I wish we
24:52days of discussing
24:53this would have
24:53been far behind us
24:55and that we would
24:55have progressed
24:56at a faster rate.
24:57But you're dealing
24:57with humans.
24:58But we are dealing
24:59with human beings,
24:59Carla.
25:00So,
25:00I hear you.
25:01And,
25:01you know,
25:02Ms. Husband,
25:02I do see a lot
25:03that I only
25:04probably often say
25:06we pay in tax
25:07and we pay your salaries
25:10and
25:10We do.
25:12And I hear you,
25:13you know,
25:13but I want to find out
25:15because my pay
25:16why it is
25:17be 4,000 something
25:18so I'm wondering
25:19who won't I pay in?
25:21Because I want
25:22that accountability.
25:22See,
25:22all the public
25:23want that accountability
25:24from us.
25:24Yes.
25:25I want to know
25:26who's are
25:26my officers
25:27and my tax pay
25:29because we want
25:29accountability
25:30from them as well.
25:31Free healthcare,
25:32free education.
25:33Okay.
25:34So,
25:34we pay the teachers
25:35and nurses?
25:36Yep.
25:36Okay.
25:37So,
25:37who them pay?
25:38Well,
25:39they are giving
25:40us back as a cycle.
25:41Okay.
25:42Yeah.
25:43Okay.
25:43So,
25:43they pay you all
25:44to protect them,
25:45to protect us.
25:47But who we pay?
25:49The state.
25:51All right.
25:53We have a caller.
25:54Caller,
25:55good evening.
25:56Hi,
25:57good evening.
25:59Good evening.
25:59Good evening,
26:00caller.
26:01All right.
26:01That's two points
26:02to read with you,
26:03all right?
26:03I want to find out
26:04during events
26:05where a full publisher
26:07was off duty,
26:09driving a personal visa
26:10and bounced it off.
26:12What?
26:14Is it necessarily
26:15arrested or anything?
26:17Yes.
26:19Is that it,
26:19sir?
26:20Is that it?
26:21That is one.
26:22And the other point is,
26:24I want to highlight
26:25something in my room
26:26of police station.
26:27I went in there
26:28with my relatives
26:29to make a report
26:31on crime
26:31and had rain fallen
26:33where it was
26:33four of us
26:34with my relatives
26:35and they put off
26:36two of us
26:37outside in the rain.
26:38Is that what
26:39you being fear to me?
26:42In the rain
26:42the putt mouth
26:45and say that
26:46let two women,
26:47the guy in the court,
26:48who get
26:49the coming report.
26:53And the person,
26:54I want to know
26:55if that's a remap
26:56to the street people.
26:59I will be my police station.
27:01Thank you, sir.
27:03Okay, ma'am.
27:04Yeah, so he's asking,
27:05I don't know
27:06where you want to start,
27:07ASP,
27:07with the off-duty officer.
27:09If they bounce on someone,
27:10what will happen?
27:12Well, we
27:14must abide by the laws as well.
27:16Yes.
27:16So if you are involved
27:18in a road traffic accident,
27:20account another person,
27:22of course,
27:23we have to make a report as well.
27:24The first thing to do
27:25is to render aid
27:27and then make the report.
27:29As in any normal accident,
27:31we are not exempted
27:32from that caller.
27:33We have to make
27:34the same report.
27:35I have been in accident
27:36as well
27:36in my personal vehicle before
27:38and I had to make a report,
27:41give my statements, etc.
27:42So they are not exempted caller.
27:44They are under the same rules
27:46and guidelines
27:47as you are.
27:48The only thing is
27:49a senior officer
27:51must do the investigation.
27:53So if it's
27:54a constable
27:55that got into the accident,
27:57a corporal
27:58and above.
27:59If it's an inspector,
28:01an assistant superintendent
28:02and above.
28:03And with respect
28:04to the treatment
28:05that the caller receives
28:06at Arima Police Station,
28:07call I open
28:08with speaking about
28:09the way,
28:09but trying to fix
28:11the way that
28:11the police interact
28:13with the public,
28:13I do apologize
28:14for that.
28:15And I mean,
28:16for them to put you
28:17out in the rain,
28:18of course,
28:18every story
28:19has two sides,
28:20but I mean,
28:20they should not
28:21put you out
28:22in the rain.
28:23However,
28:23I know the senior superintendent,
28:26Ms. Shilma Maynard Wilson.
28:29She is my batch
28:30and I would have
28:30a conversation
28:31with her
28:33or ASP
28:34Balewa
28:35or woman ASP,
28:37Ms. Wilkinson.
28:38So I would have
28:38a conversation
28:39with them.
28:39I don't know
28:40if they record
28:41anything from you,
28:42but I would have
28:44them look into it,
28:45caller.
28:45All right.
28:46I hope that was
28:47some information
28:48that helps the caller.
28:49We need to take
28:50that short break.
28:51We'll be back.

31:01We head back to the phone lines
31:03at this time.
31:03We have a caller.
31:04Caller, good evening.
31:06Good evening.
31:07Hello.
31:08Hello.
31:08Good evening, Mr.
31:09Good evening to you, sir.
31:10Good evening, caller.
31:12ASP, how are you doing?
31:13I am okay.
31:15Okay.
31:15ASP, I have a problem.
31:17The rice oil car
31:19from Calahoo just now.
31:21I was going to 14 years
31:24and he refused
31:25to go and charge the car.
31:26I went to the gym shop.
31:28I got a letter.
31:30I take it in the office.
31:32I got a reply
31:33and I was told
31:35I have to take that
31:36in a civil matter.
31:38And do you know
31:39who the person is?
31:41He's a police officer.
31:44And I told him
31:45he came in.
31:45Don't worry,
31:46the police,
31:47nothing will happen.
31:48What should I do next, sir?
31:49All right.
31:50Caller, leave your number
31:53with Ms. Jackie
31:55and I will call you
31:56to get some more information
31:58on the perspective of this.
32:02All right.
32:02And just a reminder,
32:03you all can give us a call
32:04at 623-1711,
32:06extension 1996 and 1997.
32:10Now, ASP,
32:12we're in a space
32:13where I know persons
32:14are dealing with a lot
32:16that is happening
32:17in their communities.
32:19And we have just mentioned
32:21where we are at the Tongue Meetings
32:23and we're asking individuals
32:24to make their presence felt
32:26in these Tongue Meetings.
32:27How important is it
32:28for persons to,
32:29even not just
32:30with the Tongue Meetings,
32:31but to also connect
32:32with the officers
32:33in the district?
32:34One, it puts a face
32:36to the name.
32:37And, you know,
32:38sometimes persons say,
32:40I got a vibe.
32:41Yeah.
32:42So you're going there,
32:42you might see someone
32:43who you might connect with,
32:45you might bond with.
32:46It's about being able to know
32:47when you call the station
32:48and sergeant John
32:50or sergeant X
32:50or Y answer,
32:52you know who you're speaking to.
32:54It creates a bond
32:55and it creates an atmosphere.
32:57It creates a gelling.
32:59You know,
33:00every district
33:03have a different police in need.
33:07Some may have a bar closed,
33:09but it's not this evening
33:10getting ready to come
33:11to work here.
33:14there was this gentleman
33:15that drives a Green Honda CRV
33:17that lives in the church trail area.
33:21So he passes through Cleaver
33:24and his windows is always down
33:26and he is blasting this music.
33:28So when the callers call,
33:29I don't want the callers
33:30to think that I don't understand
33:32and I don't appreciate
33:34or I don't hear
33:35because at times,
33:37I too am a victim of it.
33:38He blasts his music.
33:41If it wasn't for the show today,
33:43I would have followed it,
33:44but I didn't want to risk
33:45coming late
33:46because of the amount of traffic
33:48on the highway.
33:51Whoever is watching,
33:52whether he's in the church trail
33:53or in Cleaver,
33:54who is aware of it,
33:56ask him to stop it, please.
33:58All right.
33:58And call,
33:59I would call,
34:00he would respect this situation
34:01and see how I could intervene
34:02and if my intervention
34:04could bring some kind
34:05of positive result
34:06because I mean,
34:06your purchase of a vehicle
34:0714 years now
34:08and then the person
34:09doesn't want to transfer the car
34:11and these are disputes
34:13that Mr. Alexander,
34:14so you have the person money,
34:16you probably don't spend the money
34:17and you wouldn't transfer the vehicle
34:20so the vehicle would be legally
34:21in the person's name.
34:21I mean,
34:22what is that?
34:23Yes.
34:24Terrible.
34:24We have another caller.
34:26Caller, good evening.
34:28Hi, good evening.
34:29Good evening to you, sir.
34:30Good evening, caller.
34:32Yes, yes, sir.
34:35Pleasant evening to you all.
34:37What I'd like to know,
34:39what is considered
34:40as a derelict vehicle
34:42on the roadway,
34:43on the public roadway?
34:45Now, I've been fighting
34:47with an incident,
34:49not an incident,
34:49but an issue since 2023
34:51since Mr. Alexander
34:53was on the program.
34:55He contacted me once
34:57and like,
34:58I don't know if the police
35:00doesn't have any
35:02say over the matter
35:03or they intend to do nothing
35:04because that's my impression
35:06of the last three years
35:07and something.
35:08The vehicle has no number
35:09of it.
35:10I'm sure it has no insurance.
35:12So, I think it's an illegal
35:13vehicle on the roadway.
35:16And I'd like the police
35:18to do something about it, please,
35:19because I can't access
35:20my property
35:22with my vehicle.
35:24Do you know the owner
35:25of the vehicle, sir?
35:27Yes, I know him.
35:29Okay.
35:31Leave a number
35:32with Ms. Shaki.
35:33I will call you.
35:34All right.
35:38You have to be careful
35:39with those matters, you know.
35:40Yeah, that's why.
35:42That's why I want to call them
35:43because sometimes
35:44there is more.
35:45Sometimes the property
35:45in itself is in dispute.
35:47This person must say
35:47buy back on my side.
35:49Yes.
35:49So, when I call them
35:50as information like this,
35:51I want to get into that.
35:53I don't want to engage
35:54them on it yet
35:54because other callers
35:55are trying to get through
35:56and I want to give everybody
35:58a fair opportunity
35:58to get through to the program.
35:59But that is why
36:00you should have your vehicle
36:01on your property
36:02but not on your roadway.
36:04Now, even though it's
36:05outside of your home,
36:06it's still considered
36:07public road, no?
36:08Well, it's in the public road,
36:09yes, but Ms. Husband,
36:11based on how the country
36:12is designed,
36:13I mean, there are
36:14a lot of squatting
36:14communities as well.
36:15So, not everybody
36:16has the facility
36:17or the convenience
36:18of driving their car
36:19into their driver's.
36:20Yes, correct.
36:21You know, we ask
36:22that where persons
36:23could do so
36:23that they do so.
36:24Even myself,
36:25when I am,
36:26if I'm going back
36:27out of the house,
36:28when I park,
36:29if I'm parking,
36:29I park in front of my gate
36:31but up on my driveway
36:32as well.
36:33Yes, yeah.
36:33to have as least
36:34as possible
36:35of my vehicle
36:36in the roadway.
36:38All right,
36:38we have another caller.
36:39Caller, good evening.
36:42Hello.
36:43Yes, I'm here.
36:44Hi.
36:44Good evening to you.
36:45Hi.
36:46Good evening.
36:47Good evening, sir.
36:48You can go ahead.
36:49Good evening.
36:51Yes, hello.
36:52Are you hearing me, sir?
36:53Yes, we are.
36:53Loud and clear.
36:54You can go ahead.
36:55Yes, great.
36:56Some years,
36:57but let's say
36:5825 years ago,
36:59I had an accident
37:01in the main road
37:02in Upper Rimara Road
37:03in the Gwisdadi,
37:05just beyond Tableland.
37:07So the closest
37:08police station to Tableland
37:10would have been Tableland
37:10police station, right?
37:13Yes, so I decided
37:14to come to the police station
37:16at Tableland
37:17to make a report.
37:18And then the officer
37:19said, no, no, no,
37:20the accident took place
37:21by that particular bridge,
37:22just beyond the bridge.
37:23I said, yes.
37:24He said,
37:25you have to go
37:26to Rio Claro.
37:27So I went to Rio Claro
37:29and made my report
37:30and stuff.
37:31Now, just recently,
37:32I had another accident,
37:34small accident
37:34in San Fernando,
37:35a Puffin South area
37:37there.
37:38And the closest
37:39police station
37:40would have been
37:41either San Fernando
37:42police station
37:43or Monroo
37:44but the next,
37:46so what the
37:47next driver said,
37:49he's on his way
37:50to Marabella
37:51so we'll go there.
37:52I said, fine.
37:53So we went to Marabella.
37:54I'm going to reach
37:55there and told us,
37:56no, no, no, no,
37:57no, no.
37:57When the accident
37:58took place,
37:59yes,
38:00the jurisdiction
38:00fell out in one report.
38:02So we went back
38:02to one report.
38:04When we went to
38:05the report now
38:05and we spoke
38:06to the officer
38:07in charge,
38:08he said,
38:08no, no, no, no,
38:09no, no,
38:09no.
38:09If the,
38:10yeah,
38:11exactly where that
38:11took place,
38:12they have to go
38:12to Marabella.
38:14So I had this
38:15conversation
38:16with the officer
38:17and I said,
38:18well, you know,
38:19I was told
38:19that you should
38:20go to the
38:21closest police station.
38:23He said,
38:23anybody could
38:24say anything.
38:26I said,
38:26okay,
38:27but there's a
38:27follow-up call
38:28at the inspector
38:30Alexander
38:31and there's a show
38:32called
38:32Be on the Tape
38:33on TV
38:33and he stated
38:35that we could
38:36go to the
38:37closest police station
38:38and so on.
38:39After much ado,
38:40the officer said,
38:41okay,
38:42okay,
38:42here's what's
38:42happening.
38:43I'll take the
38:44report and I'll
38:45send it to Marabella.
38:48By that time,
38:49I was testosterone,
38:51everything was
38:52streaming on me.
38:53So I said,
38:54it's Marabella,
38:55Marabella,
38:55it's because I went
38:56back to Marabella.
38:57When I reached
38:57back to Marabella,
38:58it's like a time.
38:59Everybody was just
39:00waiting urgently
39:01and eagerly
39:02to take my report.
39:04I think this type
39:05of arcane type
39:07of behavior
39:09by the officer
39:10does and we
39:11need to kind
39:12of get rid
39:12of these officers
39:14or get rid
39:14of our behavior.
39:16Yes.
39:16Thank you,
39:17Colin.
39:18Gosh,
39:19well,
39:19you're making
39:19it hard.
39:21Why do you
39:22have to watch
39:22beyond the tape
39:23and you stress
39:23on it?
39:24Trinidad and
39:25Tobago,
39:26you could tell
39:27them,
39:28acting ESP
39:29Russell says,
39:29so we have
39:30an open door
39:31policy.
39:32You can go
39:33to any
39:35police station.
39:37A one-door
39:38policy,
39:39we could go
39:39to any
39:40police station
39:42and make
39:43a report.
39:44All the
39:44officers have
39:45to do
39:45is to take
39:45the report,
39:46issue your
39:47receipt.
39:48Sometimes they
39:48follow the
39:49air forms
39:49and they
39:50would just
39:51send the
39:53report via
39:54telephone message
39:55to the
39:56station district
39:58that is
39:59responsible
40:00for the
40:01investigation
40:02of the
40:03incident.
40:04Trinidad and
40:05Tobago,
40:07you can go
40:08to any
40:09police station
40:10to make
40:11a report.
40:13But you
40:13see,
40:13the caller
40:13is saying
40:14that he
40:15wants to
40:15know what
40:16to do
40:16with his
40:16officers,
40:17but you
40:17can make
40:18a complaint.
40:19Let us
40:19investigate it.
40:20Let them
40:21start to
40:22face the
40:23repercussions
40:24of their
40:24actions.
40:25But when
40:26you do
40:27nothing...
40:36tell your
40:37officers that
40:38too.
40:38Say to the
40:39TTPs
40:40officers of
40:40all the
40:42stations
40:42throughout
40:42Trinidad and
40:43Tobago,
40:44it's an
40:45open-door
40:45policy.
40:46Do that.
40:47I can't do
40:47that.
40:47You're in
40:48the uniform.
40:49If you walk
40:49into St.
40:50James'
40:50charge room
40:51right now,
40:52there is a
40:52sign.
40:54There is a
40:54sign.
40:55So what
40:55Trinidad and
40:56Tobago have
40:56to do,
40:57when they
40:57tell you
40:58that all
40:58you do,
41:00stand up,
41:01take out
41:01your phone,
41:02you'll have
41:02to record
41:03anything.
41:04Just take
41:04a note of
41:05the number,
41:06the regimental
41:06number.
41:06That's all
41:07we need.
41:08That's
41:09what we
41:09need.
41:10The regimental
41:11number,

43:50I am Shirazkan, I am

43:52I support the TTPX in
43:54the fight against
43:55crime.
43:56My name is
43:56Badak Maraj,
43:57president of

44:00Crime fighting is
44:01everybody's business.
44:03We are all
44:21and welcome back.
44:22Now, ASP, we just
44:23received some information
44:24from Captain Rambarat and
44:26his team where they found a
44:28decomposing body in the
44:30Monroepo area.
44:31So, let's take a listen.
44:35Hunter's search and
44:36rescue team has just
44:37located a body about
44:39100, 200 feet off
44:40wooden feet in the
44:42Monroepo area.
44:44The story started this
44:46morning when a resident
44:48of the nearby
44:49Cipriani Street observed
44:52the lower jaw of a
44:55human being right here
44:57in this spot on
44:59Cipriani Street.
45:01He contacted the
45:02police and they
45:03visited and at
45:05around 2 p.m.
45:06this evening he
45:06contacted Hunter's
45:08search and the
45:08rescue team and asked
45:09us if we could take a
45:11browser around.
45:12We agreed.
45:14And at 5.05 p.m.
45:16the decomposing
45:17yet clothed the
45:19body of a human
45:20being with a skull
45:22about 10 feet away
45:23was found just
45:25about, as I said,
45:26200 feet off
45:27wooden.
45:28So the police are here
45:30and they will be
45:31processing the scene
45:32so we give you the
45:33usual of the
45:34international flight.
45:37Alright, so that is
45:39the update that we have
45:40from Captain Rambrot and
45:42his team.
45:42Of course, we will give
45:43you more information as
45:45the investigation continues
45:46with the TTPS and we
45:48thank the captain and his
45:50team for being ready to go
45:51to assist.
45:51Of course, he has really,
45:54really, really worked
45:55alongside the
45:56Toronto Police Service and
45:57we thank him for his
45:59continuous stilling
46:00contribution here and his
46:01entire team.
46:03Let me just give
46:04Trinidad and Tobago some
46:05homework.
46:07Go to your, for those who
46:08have the phones and who
46:10have access to Wi-Fi or
46:11Internet.
46:12Including the officers,
46:13right now.
46:14Including the officers of
46:14Trinidad and Tobago Police
46:15Service.
46:16Right now, you can do that.
46:17Go to your Google search
46:18engine and type in
46:23TTPS open, no, TTPS one
46:27door policy.
46:29One door.
46:30TTPS one door policy.
46:36So when you go and the
46:37officers tell you, go
46:39somewhere else, just put it
46:41up on your phone.
46:42I like that.
46:44But you can use your
46:45phone app.
46:45Of course.
46:46In this police station.
46:47Why not?
46:48Because I know they
46:49usually say you can't
46:50use your phone when
46:51you're in the police station.
46:52If you're making a
46:53report, we expect some
46:55level of good to see.
46:56But I mean, excuse
46:57officer, I need to take
46:58this call.
46:58Okay.
46:59All right.
46:59We have a caller.
47:00Caller, good evening.
47:03Hello.
47:05Hi, good evening.
47:07Hi, good evening.
47:09Hi, good evening.
47:09Caller, how are you?
47:11I'm okay.
47:12I just have a little
47:13trouble.
47:14I have a little
47:15problem.
47:16Okay.
47:17Did you mention you
47:17I'm an officer.
47:19I'm coming from the
47:20South region.
47:22I have a problem with,
47:24um, I live close
47:25up at the airport and
47:27I'm with the footballers
47:29for 15 years.
47:32They have been
47:33trespassing my property,
47:35damaging it.
47:37Damage of 20 feet
47:39concrete walls.
47:40Damage my cars.
47:42I lost one of my
47:43dogs.
47:45Damage of fencing
47:46because there's, um,
47:47concrete with fencing
47:48and gardeners.
47:51And, uh, I've
47:52brought the ball to the
47:53station because what
47:54happened is that when
47:55they're putting a small
47:55hole, the ball keeps
47:57coming over to my yard.
48:00And all of us in the
48:01night, after 9, 10, 11,
48:04they come in for it if
48:05they can't get it.
48:06At one time, they said,
48:07but I'll run the
48:08house.
48:09And I've been to the
48:11police station for the
48:11past 13 years of
48:13overnight police report.
48:15The last incident was
48:16Tuesday night.
48:18Police officers came.
48:20They talked to the guys
48:21again, but I'm not
48:23getting any redress.
48:25Mom, what area says?
48:28Thought we done.
48:30All right.
48:30You have any video of
48:32this happening with
48:33them using your
48:34property and...
48:38Mom, I realize you
48:39don't want to give the
48:40exact location, so I...
48:42Because I don't want
48:42to be victimized, that's
48:44what happened, because
48:45I've been to the
48:45station so many times
48:46that I think we got
48:47kind of coming by now.
48:50All right.
48:52I'll have a lot of
48:52calls to me.
48:55Leave your number.
48:57I don't want to be
48:57the police officer so
48:58much vocal again, but
48:59Mom, leave your
49:00number, I will
49:01contact you.
49:03But why is that?
49:04Why is it that we
49:06have to be in this
49:09position right now,
49:10ASP, where callers,
49:12yes, this is a
49:13platform for it, and
49:13I totally agree, but
49:15it's unfair to people
49:16who have been making,
49:17like this lady, numerous
49:18reports, and no
49:21action, serious action
49:23is taking place, because
49:24she said they gave a
49:25warning, but outside of
49:28that, they continue.
49:28She said Tuesday night
49:29they were launching
49:30bottles at her house.
49:32Yeah.
49:33That is crazy.
49:33And launching
49:34bottles is an
49:35offense called
49:35throwing missiles.
49:36Yes.
49:38You know, um, I, I,
49:42I wonder.
49:43Is it that some of the
49:45officers, you know,
49:46they don't want to work,
49:47they don't want to do
49:48this work at all, and
49:49if that's the case,
49:50leave it up to people
49:51who are really willing
49:52to be passionate about
49:54this, and really give
49:55service to citizens now.
49:57But let us take it one
49:58step further, because if
49:59they are playing football,
50:01yes, they are from the
50:02area, from the area, so
50:04which means their parents
50:05are watching them behave
50:08like that, and they
50:09don't care, and say
50:10anything, because they are
50:13not immediately affected
50:14by what they are doing.
50:16Correct.
50:16We have another call.
50:18Caller, good evening.
50:21Hello.
50:22Hi, good afternoon.
50:23Hi, good evening.
50:24Good evening, caller.
50:27Officer Russell,
50:29and the husband,
50:30good evening to you all.
50:31Good evening, sir.
50:33I want to have a little
50:34observation on what you
50:35do.
50:36For the couple of years ago,
50:38for the last about three
50:39months ago, I frequented
50:41Tyler Street, and I often
50:43see four to five
50:45officers at the corner of
50:48Crystal Charlotte or
50:50Crystal Charlotte, but
50:52I find people, you know,
50:54I haven't seen an
50:54opposite uniform.
50:57It didn't, it didn't
50:58know, sir.
50:59Caller, you're breaking
51:01up, caller.
51:04Will you explain?
51:05Yes.
51:09Yeah, you said you
51:10usually see four to five
51:12officers on Charlotte
51:13Street.
51:17I think you may have to
51:18mute your television
51:19too.
51:20Caller?
51:25Yeah, I think he
51:26has to adjust his
51:28television set.
51:31We lost him or he's
51:33sick on?
51:33We're trying to rectify
51:34the issue right now.
51:38I think we might get a
51:39mark here.
51:44call up.
51:47Caller, are you
51:48there?
51:50Hello?
51:52Hi.
51:52All right, you
51:53could go ahead.
51:54You said four to five
51:55officers on Charlotte
51:56Street, your
51:56customer seeing?
51:57on a Friday and Saturday.
52:00All right.
52:00Compared to the last
52:01couple of weeks, I
52:03haven't seen these
52:04officers in uniform.
52:06So I don't know if
52:07somebody is in place
52:08clothes and I don't
52:09know.
52:10But it wasn't because
52:11a lady was, I've seen
52:14it this week.
52:14She was full from her
52:16about a couple of days
52:17ago at the bottom of
52:18Charlotte Street and
52:19there was no, no
52:21to the last two.
52:23I'm just wondering,
52:24Mr. Russell, I'm just
52:25wondering.
52:26Yes, thanks for that
52:27information.
52:28Thank you, Caller.
52:30Well, you know, we
52:31talk about being
52:32intelligence-led and
52:34deploying our officers
52:35based on crime
52:37trends.
52:37So I don't know if the
52:38officers would have
52:39been redeployed to an
52:40area where their
52:41presence would contribute
52:43to a greater drop-in
52:45crime.
52:45Maybe there's something
52:46taking place elsewhere
52:47or maybe the times
52:48that you are passing
52:49there, the patrol is
52:51probably on another
52:51street because when we
52:53detail officers, it's
52:54called beat and
52:55patrol.
52:56So we give you a
52:56particular area.
52:57So it would never
52:59really be to patrol
53:00one street, but you
53:01may be with the
53:02patrol, they'll give
53:06you a block, like a
53:08grid.
53:09Yes.
53:09As they talk about
53:10the grid patrol.
53:10So you could get
53:11about two to three
53:11blocks.
53:12Right.
53:12So you could get
53:13from, like for
53:14instance, a patrol
53:16live in Besson
53:17Street up to the
53:20eastern side of
53:22Charlotte Street is
53:23their boundary.
53:24When you cross the
53:25road, you know,
53:26enter, even though
53:27you're still on
53:27Charlotte Street, when
53:28you cross, you enter
53:30into Central Police
53:31Station District.
53:32So they may have
53:33been within the area,
53:35but at another
53:38location or patrol in
53:39another area.
53:40But I will say this,
53:41especially in the
53:41Charlotte Street area,
53:42ASP, the officer's
53:45presence allows some
53:47ease for persons who
53:48really want to shop in
53:49those areas because
53:50you get some good
53:51deals.
53:51But when they're
53:52present, once the
53:53presence of the
53:54officers are there and
53:55you can see them in
53:55their uniform, we are
53:57able to appreciate it
53:58more and feel a little
53:58bit safer.
53:59So I'm hoping those at
54:00B could understand the
54:02importance of just
54:03having the presence of
54:04those officers seen in
54:05that said location.
54:06We have a few
54:07seconds.
54:07All right.
54:08So officers, please
54:09let us try to change
54:10this way the public
54:12see us.
54:12Let us take their
54:13reports or we have to
54:14record the report and
54:15send it to the next
54:16station.
54:16Let us stop turning
54:17them away.
54:18Remember to take care
54:19of your health.
54:20The team at the
54:21police hospital,

54:23and her colleagues,
54:25free doctor consultation,
54:26blood works, pap
54:27smear for the woman,

54:30Take care of
54:30yourself, officers,
54:31and let us do better
54:32to serve the public.
54:33All right.
54:33We get ready for this
54:34up next.
54:35TNT continue being a
54:36hard target.
