03:09Now, we are smack in the middle of the week, so that means only one thing.
03:13It's, legally speaking, Wednesdays as we get ready to slide straight into the weekend.
03:17But the time we blink, listen, it's that time.
03:20But before anything else, we have a gentleman who is always willing,
03:24who wears many hats.
03:26And another portfolio, by the way, was added to this gentleman's lineup.
03:31And he is known as our attorney on the show and also the director of community and policy support
03:39in the Ministry of Homeland and Security.
03:41And now, he's also the host of Deep Dive.
03:44Good evening to Mr. Ali.
03:46Whitney, you always find a tactical way of humbling me on an afternoon.
03:53But I want to thank you very much, and I'm humbled by your comments this afternoon.
03:55And it's very emotional for me as well.
03:58You know, and I'll tell you why.
04:00You know, when we stand with you, you know, as the host,
04:04sometimes we do not understand the important responsibility that you have
04:09in conjunction with the producer, Ms. Jackie Solomon, and her technical staff.
04:16But, you know, yesterday evening, having had the opportunity, my, I should use the word inaugural
04:23slash my verging encounter with reference to hosting a program.
04:28You know, I recognize how important, you know, from a technical context, the role of a host.
04:34And I want to thank you very much for your contribution, your support for carrying this show
04:39on a daily basis, five days a week, continuously, together with Jackie and others.
04:43And I want to, you know, salute you as well this afternoon.
04:46I'm very humble.
04:46Thank you very much for identifying the Deep Dive, which is a very important program
04:51for the citizenry of Trinidad and Tobago.
04:53And we'll talk a little more about it as we go along.
04:55But it's an honor and privilege, a pleasure to be here this afternoon.
04:58And as I said before, I hope that, you know, you can also, you know, appear on that Deep Dive,
05:04you know, as an interviewee, you know, to see us in different contexts.
05:08You know, it's so spectacular to see persons playing different roles, you know,
05:12performing different functions.
05:13It's really humbling.
05:15And, you know, I want to thank Trinidad and Tobago for their support,
05:17the Ministry of Homeland Security, the Honorable Minister of Homeland Security,
05:19who made his, who launched the program yesterday afternoon.
05:23You know, I salute you, Honorable Minister, my team at the Policy and Community Support Office,
05:28and the multi-sectoral team that's involved in the National Parenting Seminar
05:31and the Psychosocial Intervention.
05:32And it's indeed an honor and privilege to come to you to engage and connect with the people of Trinidad
05:37and Tobago.
05:38But like always, good afternoon, good evening, good evening to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago,
05:42wherever you may be.
05:43I know that we don't see you, but we know that you are looking on, you are paying attention.
05:48You know, I always indicated to you that persons actually sit down by their television,
05:52based on their feedback, and make notes with me.
05:55That's a humbling, humbling experience.
05:57Yes, I learn from you every Wednesday.
05:57Well, they learn from you as well.
05:59They sit down and they actually make notes, and that note that they are making,
06:03that note is communicated to other persons in different contexts.
06:06I want you to understand the significant role that we play.
06:09Every single person who appears from Monday to Friday on this platform,
06:13persons are sitting and making notes,
06:15and then the persons who are making contributions cause us to think and think differently.
06:19Jackie and the technical staff, you know, yesterday I want to make mention,
06:22and I intend to do it on the deep dive show as well.
06:25You know, Whitney, having had a crash course, you know, moments before that deep dive,
06:31you know, Jackie, I want to salute you this afternoon, and also Mr. Leston,
06:35you know, for the time that they spend, you know, to share that very critical information
06:40so that I can negotiate that process properly.
06:43I want to thank you all and salute you.
06:44And, you know, I want to commend you for being there for me, for supporting me,
06:48and supporting, of course, the program deep dive as we go forward.
06:52So, the permanent secretaries as well, you know, who, you know, saw the need for it.
06:56Yes.
06:56You know, I want to salute them as well.
06:57And, you know, to my law enforcement colleagues, law enforcement,
07:01and also from a private security context, you know,
07:04that is an industry who continuously pay attention to this show.
07:10And they use the information from this show to also do their lectures and seminars
07:13to ensure that the security officers are coming up to our level.
07:16But, Whitney, let's see how I can assist you this afternoon.
07:18As usual, our legal cap is on this evening.
07:23And also the director.
07:24So, you're taking off the director and host hat now.
07:26We're in attorney mode.
07:28Well, I don't know if we have space or all those hats in, Whitney.
07:31That is why we can pilot on top of each other.
07:33Well, okay, of course.
07:33Yeah, sure.
07:34So, as you mentioned, the support and the TTPS continues to work extremely hard.
07:39And, of course, with the support of the citizens, we are seeing why here right now.
07:42Now, according to the TTPS media release today,
07:46$5 million TT dollars worth in cannabis destroyed in Moruga suppression exercise.
07:52So, approximately 5,000 fully grown cannabis trees with an estimated street value of TT5 million
07:59were destroyed by officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service
08:02during a cannabis suppression exercise conducted in Moruga on Tuesday, the 21st of July, 2026.
08:10Now, during the operation, officers discovered and destroyed two cannabis fields
08:14covering approximately one and a half acres.
08:19The fields contain an estimated 5,000 fully grown cannabis trees
08:24with an estimated street value of $5 million TT dollars.
08:29Officers also destroyed several water containers
08:31and other cultivation equipment used to maintain the illegal plantations.
08:37A job well done by the TTPS.
08:39I hope they didn't get too high while they were destroying those cannabis.
08:45You said two things that I want to, you know, expound on this afternoon.
08:50One, the area of cultivation.
08:53And that was the photographs that were shown, evidence of the cultivation,
09:01and the things that you identified that were found supports the cultivation.
09:04And, Whitney, the amount of cannabis that was destroyed is, you know, in my respect for view,
09:15a lot of persons would have been interested in that cultivation for the purposes of whether it be wholesale and
09:23retail
09:24or bringing it into land.
09:26So, I'm happy that law enforcement have actually identified that field, have destroyed that field,
09:30and, you know, kudos, I salute the law enforcement agencies that were involved in the exercise.
09:35And the second thing that you spoke about in terms of the smell.
09:38Yes.
09:39These exercises, of course, will naturally create a risk, or I should say a health concern.
09:45And, again, to show the extent in which the officers go to be able to destroy cannabis,
09:50which is very dangerous and can brew or can attract a level of violence.
09:56It is very, very commendable on the part of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service,
10:00and to the Commissioner of Police, the Executive of the TTPS,
10:03and all the officers who were involved in this special exercise or support agencies.
10:07I want to salute you.
10:09This is the level of aggression that we require to be able to deal with crime and criminality,
10:14whether it be firearms, ammunition, but in this case, the injuries are drugs.
10:17So, again, I want to join with you to commend the officers with reference to this exercise.
10:21I always indicate, Whitney, even when you show these statistics, while we may have spoken about a destruction,
10:28somebody or some group is responsible for this cultivation.
10:32And I will still urge the law enforcement agencies to conduct diligent inquiries to ensure that the human element,
10:39I always believe that if you restrict the human element by the rule of law,
10:43you're going to be able to prevent crime and criminality from continuing.
10:46So, it's excellent for the destruction, but we also want to identify the persons who are responsible
10:52for the cultivation of this field, but excellent work.
10:55Totally agree with that.
10:56And with that being said, I am not sure if you saw this video,
11:00and this was the incident that we spoke about yesterday,
11:03where the shooting in the Batara area, now the victim was identified
11:07as Shaquille Charles, 32, of Monrepo Movo, but up to last night,
11:14police had not yet determined the motive of his killing.
11:18Now, police said that around 4.20 p.m., Charles was walking through the car park
11:23of the Benefit, the People's Supermarket in Batara,
11:27when a vehicle in the car park with two men drove up to him.
11:31One man got out and shot at Charles.
11:34He died at the scene.
11:37Condolence to the family, by the way.
11:39So, with New Weil, on one hand, we have commended the success
11:43of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
11:45We have seen that persons are continuing to perpetrate their criminal activities,
11:50of course, in the public space, and that continues to be a very serious challenge for us.
11:54And, you know, it's important for us to direct the necessary focus
12:00with reference to organized crime and gang activity in Trinidad and Tobago.
12:03It continues to be a nagging issue, and, you know, why is it as policy and community support?
12:08Just speaking to the Honorable Minister last night, you know,
12:10I'm also very carefully thinking about whether, in fact, the need has come
12:14to look at a policy in terms of dealing with organized crime and gang,
12:17and if necessary, looking at the current legislation
12:20to see whether, in fact, the legislation is structured in such a way
12:24to be able to disrupt and dismantle criminal gang and gang-related activities,
12:27and also, importantly, whether from an operational context,
12:31from an investigative context, whether we are currently positioned
12:35to be able to deal with these issues,
12:37it is very clear that these persons believe that they can chance,
12:40or take the chances.
12:41How could they do it?
12:42They're doing it.
12:42They believe so.
12:43Correct.
12:44And it's important for us to identify that
12:46and to be able to address that gap that may be existing,
12:49or the confidence that they believe that they have
12:51to be able to perpetuate these activities.
12:53But, again, very unfortunate situation,
12:55and if there are persons who have intelligence or information
12:58about these activities, we always call on you
13:01to provide the information, provide the intelligence,
13:03even provide the evidence.
13:04If you do not trust law enforcement, there are many other avenues.
13:08You know, on this particular program,
13:09we have the Crime Stoppers person come from time to time,
13:13and they encourage persons to be able to use the anonymous channel.
13:16Please let us use it.
13:17We are living in Trinidad and Tobago,
13:19and I just want to just use this opportunity
13:22to run across to what happened in Laventil.
13:24Yes.
13:25From the facts and the report,
13:27innocent bystanders were caught in the exchange of gun fires.
13:31And I want to say to Trinidad and Tobago
13:32that this could have been any one of us
13:35going to the gas station to refuel our vehicle
13:37to take our family to the beach,
13:40to the cinema, to the party,
13:42to the church, to the mandir, to the mosque,
13:44just looking to refuel our vehicle.
13:46And unfortunately, two gangs that are in conflict
13:48found the opportunity to have that exchange
13:51at that particular point in time.
13:52Let us not be selfish.
13:54Sometimes, Whitney, and I want to say this very frankly this afternoon,
13:57sometimes I see things happen,
14:00and I form the opinion that many of us sometimes
14:04we have a selfish way of thinking.
14:06And I want to ask the citizenry of Trinidad and Tobago
14:08and all stakeholders.
14:10Let us, if there's a selfish way of thinking
14:12or believe that we are untouched,
14:14let us remove that and understand that we live in a society
14:16that we depend on each other.
14:18The person who's bringing the bread every evening,
14:20four or five, blowing the horn,
14:21to say, look here, we are selling the bread.
14:23The person who is opening the parlor for the rice
14:25and the milk and the sugar and the soft drink.
14:27It cannot be garbage.
14:28Let us understand that we all have a role
14:30and a contribution to play.
14:31And if I always said that innocent bystander
14:34based on the report,
14:36if the head of that family is hurting,
14:39our feet should feel the pain.
14:41We should be viewing ourselves on one body.
14:43You know, so it was very sad to see that,
14:45but it shows how impactful
14:48and from a negative context,
14:49crime and criminality is considered.
14:51As a matter of fact, I said that in a meeting today
14:53with a meeting called by the Communication Department
14:55of the Ministry of Homeland
14:56and all the various stakeholders were there
14:58and I told them that we need to continue
15:00to be reminded that crime and criminality
15:02do not impact a sector
15:04or a particular group.
15:06It impacts Trinidad and Tobago.
15:09We have seen the education sector being impacted,
15:11the placement of police officers in the school.
15:13The health sector, persons run in
15:15to a health institution where they are chasing after.
15:18Breaking down places that persons believe is safe
15:21and could be trusted is no longer a space
15:25where persons really feel comfortable anymore.
15:28That's correct.
15:28So I hope that they could find a way, Mr. Ali,
15:31because even though we are hearing the heads at B
15:34stating that they're seeing serious crimes being done,
15:37from seeing videos like this,
15:39and of course, pictures and videos on social media
15:42that are circulating,
15:43it doesn't feel the same as they're seeing the stats.
15:48It doesn't equate to the numbers that they're giving us
15:52to show the reduction.
15:53But I hope that we can really find a way
15:55because we continue, as I say,
15:57the tug of war that is taking place
16:00with the criminal elements
16:01and the TTPS with the citizens
16:03who are trying the utmost to find a way to suppress.
16:07One thing I'll say before we move on with me
16:09is that we cannot be,
16:11I should say, let me rephrase it.
16:13We have to be adopting a fluid process.
16:17So every single day that we wake up,
16:19it may mean a change in our crime response.
16:21And until we appreciate that,
16:24we may not get the necessary impact that we require.
16:27So yes, we are doing well.
16:29We are achieving some level of success.
16:31We have seen a reduction from a statistics context.
16:34But there are many more things that we can do
16:36and it's important for us to treat it.
16:38Let us be a student of crime fighting.
16:41Now it's time for us to take a look
16:43at what's making our SOE update
16:45as of July 22nd, 2026.
16:49Number of operations, 10,093.
16:53Number of targets prior to offenders, 2,660.
16:57Searches conducted, 3,851.
17:00Traffic operations, 6,260.
17:04Total persons arrested, 4,454.
17:08Total persons charged, 1,085.
17:13Firearms recovered.
17:14We're seeing an increase with the pistols,
17:16giving us a total of 242.
17:19Ammunition recovered.
17:20We're seeing an increase with the 9mm,
17:22giving us a total now of 4,565.
17:26And dangerous drug seeds.
17:27We're seeing an increase with the cannabis and cocaine.
17:30Mr. Ali?
17:31Well, Whitney, every time I see the statistics
17:33and, you know, having read the statistics,
17:35I will always, you know, attribute the success
17:36to the statistics of Trinidad and Tobago
17:38and the partnership with Trinidad and Tobago Police Service
17:40and other support agencies.
17:41Have it not been for this particular partnership,
17:44we'll not be reading these statistics.
17:46But let's go back to the previous...
17:48Jackie, can you just take us back to the previous slide?
17:52There's no doubt that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service
17:55and the support agencies are in operational mode.
17:59Yes.
18:00One...
18:01Sorry, 10,093 operations.
18:04That is evidence of overt actions.
18:07That's not sitting in an office.
18:09Secondly, the number of targets, priority offenders, 2,660.
18:15The searches, 3,851.
18:18Traffic operations, 6,260.

18:24And critically here, and I just deliberately went down
18:27to repeat these statistics that you read,
18:301,085 persons have been charged and placed before the court.
18:33But yet we are seeing very brazen acts of crime and criminality.
18:37So it shows a level of, you know,
18:40lawlessness in Trinidad and Tobago.
18:41And, you know, it's a mama task.
18:44It's a mama task.
18:45And hence why I want to just extend my hand to deep dive.
18:50To first appreciate that we cannot charge, arrest, prosecute our way out of this.

19:02You know, let us...
19:03Whitney, I couldn't agree with you this afternoon.
19:05Say that again.
19:06The mind.
19:07And as I said before in this program,
19:09and you had asked me the question,
19:11the elements of a crime,
19:13in most cases, requires,
19:15if not expressly, impliedly,
19:17an act of serious elements and a mental element.
19:20So you may have an unlawful act,
19:22but that menswear, that intention,
19:24that recklessness,
19:25where you foresee a danger and you're still taking the risk,
19:28those are things that we need to identify.
19:31And that's why we have adopted a psychosocial approach.
19:33To be able to appreciate the importance of engaging these vulnerable youth
19:38at an early stage,
19:40and in some cases, even the adult,
19:41to understand that you can deal sometime with some challenges that you have,
19:46make the right choices,
19:47be resilient in your situation,
19:48and bring the community in to support that cause.
19:51And, you know, I have to say that.
19:52So just as we are looking at hard enforcement,
19:55the primary avenue,
19:57TTPS is well positioned to do that.
19:59They have been doing that to the best of their ability,
20:01but they must be complemented
20:03with the prevention or the secondary method.
20:06And I salute the Minister of Homeland Security
20:09for recognizing that that's a direction
20:11that we need to complement the TTPS with.
20:13All right.

25:30facts very closely and I want to
25:32thank you for the recognition where
25:34Whitney, could we safely say that

25:50exposure, the opportunity for
25:52persons, you know, to see that
25:53perhaps, you know, we can do other

25:56to thank you very much for as a
25:57member of the citizenry of
25:59Trinidad and Tobago for
25:59recognizing that. That's number one.
26:02Number two, I'm happy that you
26:05basically focus the light on where
26:07the discussions were going last
26:09night. Prevention, but where the
26:12youths and children is concerned.
26:13And I, if it's one thing that I
26:15have very close to my heart is the
26:16youths and the children, because I
26:18believe, I strongly believe and I
26:20know the Honorable Minister and
26:21other ministers, the Minister of
26:22Education, the Minister of
26:24Social Development in
26:25addition, and of course the
26:27Honorable Prime Minister, I know
26:28that where children and
26:29vulnerable youths are concerned,
26:31that's a very significant
26:31matter. And I think that if we
26:33get control of that, with the
26:35support of the parents in
26:36Trinidad and Tobago, we are on
26:38our way to a level of recovery.
26:41But if we are not focusing on
26:43the vulnerable youths and
26:44children, what you are doing is
26:45that you are keeping these
26:46persons exposed, where the
26:48criminal gangs, they are going to
26:50continue to be vulnerable and
26:51we are going to continue to be
26:52chasing down crime and
26:53criminality in a way that, you
26:55know, maybe, you know, beyond our
26:56control. So I think that we need
26:58to, you know, draw that line, see
27:00if the future deal within the rule
27:03of law with the persons who are
27:04bent on breaching the criminal law
27:05and the TTPS is well
27:06positioned for that. I know the
27:08commissioner has signaled his
27:09client attention with reference to
27:11crime and criminality and I think
27:12that this approach is an approach to
27:14complement, and we said it last
27:16night, the police hard-armed
27:18policing, having both a primary and
27:20a secondary. So I want to thank you
27:22for joining the contribution and of
27:23course, I will reserve comments on
27:24your last area because of the many
27:27hats that I wear and I want to be
27:28able to respect the matters that
27:30are unfolding in the public domain.
27:32That being said, it's very important
27:34that we go back to basic once again
27:37for us to understand the traffic
27:39rules and regulations of Trinidad
27:41and Tobago. Let's sharpen up those
27:42skills. Let's head back to basic.
27:53I am number 21962 PC Nichols and today
27:56we're doing a little exercise called
27:58Back to Basics where we just ask
28:01any public questions to see if they
28:02have a little knowledge on the road
28:04safety and the regulations and the
28:07laws. Right? All right. So the first
28:09question is, you should under all
28:12conditions, drive at a speed that will
28:15allow you to a stop within 150
28:18meters, 500 feet. B stop within 90
28:22meters, 300 feet or C within 60
28:26meters, 200 feet or D stop within a
28:29safe distance. What is your answer?
28:32I think the answer should be D stop

35:50because of a different SOE they cannot be held
35:52again? And, you know, sometimes people will try
35:54to, yes, you hold me and you didn't charge me. So
35:57it means that I can get at you. Can that
36:00happen? My last point is, we have a dog control
36:05act of 2013. Is that available? And is it for
36:09special dogs or for owners of dogs, you know,
36:13what kind of dogs and hamburgers? Because of
36:16the way something happened with some

36:36engaged me to be able to tell the national
36:38community that over the next couple of weeks, you
36:41are going to see experts from a multi-sectoral
36:44context coming on the DIVDI program to be able
36:47to share information, advice, and guidance. And
36:50I urge the parents and caregivers to pay
36:54particular attention so that you can benefit.
36:56This is the essence, to be able to connect
36:59with you all. So I just want to answer you in
37:00relation to that first point. Thank you very
37:02much for your support and your recognition. The
37:04second issue, I see that, you know, you have
37:06consistently directed your focus in relation
37:09to PDOs. And I want to say in simple terms
37:12that when a state of emergency comes to an end, if
37:16you are not charged and you are placed on a PDO
37:18and you are subsequently released, the judicial
37:20system, due process is still open to you. And if
37:24you feel very strong that your incarceration
37:28on that PDO was not justified, you have access
37:32to the courts of Trinidad and Tobago to be able to
37:33review that position. So that's number one. The
37:36second thing in relation to if the SOE comes
37:38to an end and you are released, if they are
37:40credible intelligence that still place you in a
37:43position where you are prejudicial to public
37:45safety and security. So the intelligence in my
37:47respect for you must be refreshed to be able to
37:50bring you back into custody to be able to preserve
37:52the public safety and security. So very
37:54significant matters that you are raising. And I
37:56will always urge persons who are finding themselves
37:58in that position to seek competent legal advice
38:01before you take any step in moving forward. So
38:04that you will be properly guided and you are
38:06not, you know, wasting the court's time or
38:10wasting your own time and your funding. So
38:12just be guided by that. And I think the last
38:14area that she zeroed into, Whitney, was the dog
38:18control act. Yeah, permit me to refresh my mind
38:20on that act. But what I can say from my last reading
38:23of that particular legislation, there are
38:25particular dogs that have been defined in
38:27that particular Dangerous Dogs Act. But
38:30there's a very critical agency that has a role
38:32to play in that. And the agency from my
38:35recollection is the regional authorities in
38:38the various parts of Trinidad and Tobago, which
38:41must be paying attention in terms of things like
38:43looking to see whether in fact the area is
38:45properly secured, whether the dogs are
38:47registered, whether they are proper insurance
38:49or the money that must be deposited with
38:52reference to having possession or control
38:54over these dogs. So, but I'll refresh my
38:56mind, but the very significant matter, and
38:58you know, in the 2026, Brittany, we can
39:00Google the Dangerous Drugs, the Dangerous
39:03Dogs Act. Correct. And have a read of that
39:06particular legislation. So those who may be
39:07found in a position where they are engaging
39:10in dangerous dogs, see whether the dogs
39:12that you have, the classification, whether
39:14you are falling within the legislation, and
39:16if so, what may be your duty and
39:18responsibility in relation to continue to
39:20control and be in possession of those
39:21dangerous dogs. But like in anything else,
39:24continue to be guided by the law. But
39:26as always, thank you for your
39:28contribution, and for bringing alive

40:55You have to show them how to reason.

43:17The social part of it will accommodate the area
43:23that you are speaking about in terms of choices,
43:26consequences of your actions.
43:27And that, of course, will be hinged on understanding
43:30what you are governed by in terms of the rule of law.
43:32And, you know, let's go into the area of ethics and morality.
43:35So, I just want to share that with you that your point is taken.

44:08We have spoken about labor exploitation.
44:10But here I want to go this afternoon,
44:12very significantly this afternoon.
44:13And I hope that the media houses are listening
44:15or the persons who will be subsequently writing articles.
44:18I want to say to you all this afternoon
44:20that there's a form of exploitation
44:22where a person uses another person to move illegal items
44:27within borders and across borders.
44:29And here why I'm going there.
44:30We are facing a very serious challenge
44:35with gang and gang-related activities.
44:37And the gang leaders and gang members,
44:40the intelligence suggests that persons are holding firearms,
44:43moving firearms, holding ammunition, moving ammunition.
44:47These things are coming, in my respective view,
44:50within exploitation, using persons to move
44:53within borders or across borders, illegal items.
44:56And if we are looking at trafficking the persons,
44:58do not only take our mind to sex trafficking
45:00and labor exploitation.
45:02It might be just before our eyes.
45:05And perhaps we may be looking to bring down
45:07or disrupt a gang through murder to dangerous drug.
45:11Or gun trafficking.
45:12But there are persons who may be held with firearms and ammunition.
45:15And if you do a diligent inquiry,
45:17they may tell you,
45:18Sir, I have been asked to hold this firearm and ammunition,
45:22to move this ammunition from point A to point B
45:24to perpetuate that crime.
45:27Let's look at that.
45:28And let's be unique.
45:29Let's be thinking critically
45:31with reference to how we're dealing with trafficking in persons
45:34and not be bogged down with what is the obvious,
45:37labor and sex trafficking.
45:39So I want to make that point this afternoon with me.

49:01What are your views on these kill programs being closed down by the government?

49:10Two, do you think that any discussions or not enough discussions are being done
49:19or being covered discussed in the parliament as it relates to the crime, gun violence,
49:26especially in this country?
49:29And as well as, is that too fast?
49:32As well as regards to the, and now I don't think the parliament are the one who has the power
49:39to discuss the judicial system.
49:40I don't mean the judiciary or the chief justice or however it goes necessarily with no, right?
49:46But do you all think, honestly, that anything young people are being gone down on a daily basis,
49:54old people, people, home and patients, right?
49:58Yet still, I personally am not hearing anything at all as it relates to crime, gun violence,
50:06and these programs that are being closed down, not only young people get to experience it
50:13because my niece went to, um, CCC, right?
50:19CCC has been closed.
50:21CCC has been a distance over 30 years.

50:33That is from starting from CCC.
50:35I would like you all to be brutally honest.

50:41And do you, from your knowledge, does the executive of the police service have discussions
50:47with the minister of national security?
50:49I don't like this woman of security.

50:52Um, like, probably discussions to take back to the parliament as ways to deal with this crime.
50:59The police service alone cannot do it.
51:01And the police service gets blamed on a daily basis.
51:04We don't make the laws.

51:15But you made me smile because, let's take the last point.
51:19You have basically signaled a very important or need for important communication between, um,
51:29TTPS and the Ministry of Homeland Security.
51:31And it's something that I've been advocating for, to ensure that there's always the opportunity to be able to, you
51:38know, move legally the Honorable Minister of Homeland Security, even the Minister of Defense, when there's a need to, to
51:45ensure that the Defense Force and the TTPS is always enhanced.
51:47And having the advantage in law to be able to respond to crime and criminality and defense matters, ensure that
51:54aren't to be going on.
51:54So, I think that's significant, you know, well said.
51:58With reference to the social programs, you know, I will say that I don't have the facts, the information in
52:03relation to what may have impacted the interference of those social programs.
52:09But what I will say is that, you know, one will expect that there's, you know, expeditious review, if in
52:16fact there's a need for review, to look at transparency and accountability, and to ensure that these programs are, if
52:22not, you know, reenacted, you know, if there are actions that need to be taken to reshape it, to ensure
52:29that it fulfills purpose,
52:30then one will be expecting that, again, it's done in a timely manner, so that persons are not placed in
52:36a situation of vulnerability, and you have identified the value or the benefit that has arisen where you are concerned
52:43on other persons.
52:43So, you know, I think that you have contributed to the conversation.
52:46I am aware that there are very high office holders who listen to this program, and, you know, I'm certain
52:51that you would have moved them to say, listen, if we are not thinking about moving expeditiously,
52:55time is of the essence, because our nation, youths, cannot be exposed to a level of vulnerability when we are
53:02fighting to prevent crime and criminality in Trinidad and Tobago.
53:04We must give them every opportunity, and the minister spoke about it yesterday.
53:08He spoke about the barbering, both for the male and the hairdressing course for the female, you know, engaging in
53:15trade, because everybody may not be inclined, and we have heard that many times.
53:18But we might seem to bring it back, I guess.
53:19So, you know, we have seen, you know, hints of it, but, you know, I'm happy that you brought it
53:24to this platform, that the persons who are responsible for looking at those programs, time is of the essence.
53:31Yeah, I hope that they're able to find a way, and I love to deal with information and stats, and
53:36not just opinion and feeling, with regards to what the caller said.
53:39Now, based on the information I have before me right now, according to the Daily Express, now the data, she's
53:46speaking of, you know, going to the judiciary and those that be who may sit in the positions to change
53:52certain things.
53:53Based on the information that we have here, data sourced from the police commissioners, Comstat figures, the Honorable Prime Minister,
54:00Kamala Bissar, Bissar, stated with the information she got,
54:03it is showing that it has been 118 fewer murders under the present government that we have now, and also
54:12at the stats, they broke down, which she made it very clear that we saw in different divisions compared to
54:182025, we saw slight lower numbers in murders, all right?
54:25Along with what I am also seeing here from the 2026 figure compared to 2024, some of the most significant
54:34declines occurring in the Port of Spain and Central Division, which is a 62% decrease that we're seeing happening.
54:41And as of the month of July 20th, this year, compared with 61 during the same period in 2024, a
54:50reduction of 38 murders, or approximately, as we say, 62%, that was down.
