00:00:00A deal like no other is up for grabs.
00:00:06To fight for it, Britain's brightest business prospects are heading to London.
00:00:12When I want something, I have to have it.
00:00:15Sleeping is overrated. I've got really big goals to hit. I can sleep when I'm dead.
00:00:20Money is what makes the world go around.
00:00:22My business is worth millions, but others can earn in a month. It takes me one hour.
00:00:27I've always been a hustler. I'm 28 years old. My business does six figures, so don't let the baby face fool you.
00:00:34On offer, a quarter million pound investment.
00:00:38The level of competitiveness I have is disgusting. I am the human equivalent of a tank.
00:00:43Nothing gets in my way, and the other candidates need to watch out.
00:00:47I've walked away from an incredibly high-paying job for this opportunity, and I don't plan on failing.
00:00:53My background is in professional athletics. I am the most competitive person that I know.
00:00:59I'm here for the gold. I'm not here to mess around.
00:01:03Keen to kick-start companies. 18 potential partners.
00:01:08I'm like a lion in the business world. Fierce, hungry, and ready to devour my prey.
00:01:13I am a winner. I've got winning in my DNA, and I'm here to prove the nice guy can win, and that guy is me.
00:01:21The cash is on the table. The boss is in the boardroom.
00:01:27Be under no illusion that this remains one of the toughest processes around.
00:01:32Having built a billion-pound empire, Lord Sugar is on the hunt for the next big thing.
00:01:38This is an opportunity of a lifetime.
00:01:42Let's go, let's go, let's go, quick!
00:01:44But to get it, a punishing selection process.
00:01:48I don't want to hear anything more of that. I want to...
00:01:51I'm not allowed to speak, and what I do speak, you disagree with it. Is that what you say? Is that what you really say?
00:01:5618 candidates.
00:01:58Go, go, go, go, go, go, go!
00:02:00Pizzas for 10 pounds each!
00:02:0212 tough tasks.
00:02:04Action. Yes, chef.
00:02:05Please let me finish talking. Please let me finish talking.
00:02:07One life-changing opportunity.
00:02:11Wow. Well done. That's a lot of orders.
00:02:13That's the biggest load of garbage I've ever seen.
00:02:16Complete and utter joke is pathetic.
00:02:19It's down to business with The Apprentice.
00:02:23You're fired. You're fired.
00:02:25It's a bloody shambles.
00:02:27You're fired.
00:02:28You're fired.
00:02:3711 a.m.
00:02:44The boardroom.
00:02:48Handing in proposals.
00:02:5218 ambitious entrepreneurs.
00:02:54Could you send the candidates in, please?
00:03:04You can go through to the boardroom now.
00:03:06Good morning.
00:03:23Now, you look a little bit nervous.
00:03:26You remind me of a tank full of 18 frightened lobsters in a restaurant.
00:03:31So, look, the world of business has changed.
00:03:36These days, you don't need bricks and mortar or a flash suit or a team of 100 people to get started.
00:03:43Some of the most successful businesses out there have been created by one person.
00:03:48So I'm looking for a Bezos rather than a Bozo, if you understand what I mean, you know?
00:03:53And I'm after movers and shakers and not schmoozers and fakers.
00:04:01Now, eventually, after 12 weeks, one of you is going to enjoy a £250,000 injection into a joint company that both of us will own.
00:04:12Yeah?
00:04:12So, look, I've got a bunch of CVs here.
00:04:15Some of them contain more crap than the River Thames.
00:04:18But, um, so, Dean, where's Dean?
00:04:21Yep.
00:04:22Pleasure to meet you, Lord Sugar.
00:04:23Yeah, you're in the air conditioning business.
00:04:25I am, indeed.
00:04:26You blow hot and cold, do you?
00:04:27I do.
00:04:28I think I'm the coolest candidate here.
00:04:30You're Mr. Cool, yeah?
00:04:32And there's a market for it, I suppose, with climate change.
00:04:35Yeah.
00:04:35Things are getting hotter and...
00:04:36It's an energy-saving appliance.
00:04:38So a lot of people now are having it installed for heating, not only cooling.
00:04:41True.
00:04:41A lot of people don't know that.
00:04:42True.
00:04:43Um, Emma S.
00:04:44I've got two Emmas here today, haven't we?
00:04:46Good morning, Lord Sugar.
00:04:47You like two-hour lunch breaks.
00:04:49Oh, I start a lot earlier, and then I take longer lunch breaks to go to the gym.
00:04:55I still work my full work day.
00:04:57I just...
00:04:57You might be the first candidate who asked me if you can work from home.
00:05:01I'm bored of that.
00:05:02I'm bored of work from home.
00:05:03No.
00:05:04No, no.
00:05:05Johnny.
00:05:06Hello.
00:05:07Hello, Johnny.
00:05:07Tell me about yourself.
00:05:09Um, yeah, I'm on a tutoring company, and so I work with young people.
00:05:12One of your ambitions is to jump out of a plane, is that right?
00:05:15That's true.
00:05:16Yeah, no problem.
00:05:17There's plenty of people here who push you.
00:05:18That's for sure.
00:05:19Yeah.
00:05:20Um, let me speak to Nadia.
00:05:23Good morning, Lord Sugar.
00:05:25Tell me about yourself, Nadia.
00:05:27I started my own business in Knightsbridge, and now I own four hair salons.
00:05:31You said you're mad as a box of frogs.
00:05:34What do you mean by that?
00:05:34Depends in which context you take it, Lord Sugar.
00:05:36I've been in business, I'm fast-moving, and in my personal life, I like to work hard, play hard.
00:05:42Okay.
00:05:43Um, right, Emma R.
00:05:45That is me, Emma.
00:05:47Oh, that's you?
00:05:47Uh, yes, Lord Sugar, if I may.
00:05:49I'm a little hard of hearing, so, like, partially deaf, so I won't be offended if any of you shout at me.
00:05:54Okay.
00:05:54Because I genuinely need that.
00:05:56All right, okay.
00:05:57What is your business?
00:05:59Uh, so my business is an online gift store, so we do, like, coasters, baubles, and mugs.
00:06:04Mugs?
00:06:05Mostly mugs.
00:06:05I was in the mug business once, I bought spurs.
00:06:08Ah, yeah.
00:06:10Definitely.
00:06:10Yeah.
00:06:11Carlo.
00:06:12Yes, Lord Sugar?
00:06:13Tell me about your business.
00:06:15Uh, so at the moment I'm a hair transplant consultant, so essentially I connect patients to reputable clinics around the world.
00:06:20Um, the industry, it's currently 5 billion, expected to go to 43 billion by 2026.
00:06:25And Lord Sugar, if we capture a mere 0.0%, we'll hit some very impressive numbers.
00:06:31He's already doing his pitch.
00:06:33Right.
00:06:34Okay.
00:06:34I'm very, very passionate, so I think the key is enough.
00:06:38We want to get done today.
00:06:40Right.
00:06:40Now, look, it's time to get down to business.
00:06:42I'm kicking things off by sending you to Austria.
00:06:47Oh, my God.
00:06:49You'll have to set up and run a tour, sell tickets, and deliver your guests an unforgettable experience.
00:06:57The team that makes the most profit will win, and on the losing team, at least one of you will be fired.
00:07:05Now, I'm going to mix things up from the get-go.
00:07:08Forget boys versus girls.
00:07:10The two back rows swap with each other.
00:07:14No way.
00:07:19You lot will be running a tour on the glacier, and will be watched over by Karen, and the rest of you will be in the forest, followed by Tim.
00:07:28Good luck.
00:07:29I'll see you back in the boardroom in a few days' time.
00:07:32Off you go.
00:07:35Innsbruck, Austria.
00:07:41Nestled against a breathtaking alpine backdrop, tours in the Tyrol region can make a mountain of cash.
00:07:52Right, team, we're in Austria.
00:07:56Deciding who will guide them.
00:07:58Capital of the Alps, Innsbruck, apparently.
00:08:00It's not the same part of here.
00:08:01Team Forest.
00:08:02Right, anyone want to put themselves forward in terms of project manager?
00:08:07Any takers?
00:08:12No, I've got no experience with tours, to be fair.
00:08:14Not me.
00:08:14I'm going to be honest.
00:08:15Not tours.
00:08:15Someone's got to be a project manager, guys.
00:08:19It's the same for me, not been on any tours.
00:08:21Okay, so just to clarify, no one's been on tours before?
00:08:23No, no one's been on tours before.
00:08:25Okay, so as someone who's been on tours before, I'm happy to put myself forward as project manager.
00:08:29Oh, that's great.
00:08:31Is everyone happy with that, yeah?
00:08:32Yeah.
00:08:32Is everyone happy?
00:08:33Okay, great.
00:08:34Fantastic.
00:08:34Oh, brilliant.
00:08:34I'm going to put myself forward for this one, guys.
00:08:41Next door.
00:08:42I'm strategic and I'm militant, so I could really get things done.
00:08:46Two volunteers.
00:08:47I would also like to put myself forward, so I studied hospitality management.
00:08:53Aside from that, I do actually love Australia, so I came here skiing.
00:08:56I'm really passionate about the country.
00:08:58And in my day role, I am a project manager, so I'm very comfortable to get us across the line.
00:09:03Should we take a vote?
00:09:04Let's do that.
00:09:05Emma?
00:09:08Yeah, so I think Emma's going to be our project manager.
00:09:10Yay!
00:09:11Nice one.
00:09:12Nice one.
00:09:13Nice one.
00:09:15I do feel like I should have got that role as project manager.
00:09:17In terms of making key decisions, I'm absolutely awesome at it.
00:09:22Let's hope that Emma hasn't bitten off too much than she can chew.
00:09:25Stabai, Glacier.
00:09:26We're going to be doing a sledge ride down to the bottom of the mountain.
00:09:30Getting to grips with tomorrow's tour.
00:09:33Well, we will be greeting them with snaps, which is Austria's national drink.
00:09:37Project manager Emma pins down a price point.
00:09:41Ticket price.
00:09:42So I really want to say let's start 175.
00:09:45Yeah.
00:09:45Yeah.
00:09:45Yeah, 175.
00:09:46I think that's really expensive.
00:09:48I don't agree on the 175 E rules.
00:09:50I think we should be going at a sweet spot between 125 and 150.
00:09:55Potentially as well, we can do a package deal.
00:09:57Two tickets for 200.
00:10:00I disagree completely.
00:10:01I think if we're going in looking to drop prices, fundamentally that's not how you sell.
00:10:06I think you set a price.
00:10:07Yeah.
00:10:07And you assume that you're going to sell at that price.
00:10:10And I agree with that.
00:10:11So I want to hold and I want to enter at 175.
00:10:14Okay.
00:10:14Okay.
00:10:15On the other team.
00:10:19I think we should go in high and then we're going to negotiate to go down.
00:10:23Serving up a plan for flexible prices, Pizza Pro and Nissan.
00:10:27So I think it's reasonable to go in for 200 euros to start with.
00:10:32Can I just flag up?
00:10:33Is 200 euros too much for a bike tour?
00:10:35But this is not just a bike tour.
00:10:37It's the forest experience.
00:10:38We're doing e-bikes.
00:10:40Plus we're doing honey and bread making.
00:10:42But I want them to think they're getting a deal.
00:10:43So start with 200, but I want you to be like, okay, special tool just for you.
00:10:47We'll go down to 175, go down to 150.
00:10:50Minimum, don't go under 100 euros at all.
00:10:53Okay?
00:10:54Yeah.
00:10:56200 euros is a lot, but I am confident in my sales techniques.
00:11:01I can sell anything.
00:11:04Next for Anissa.
00:11:05Okay, so we need a selling team on the tour team.
00:11:08Decide who will tout tickets.
00:11:10I would love to sell for the public.
00:11:11Likewise.
00:11:12I would actually put my hand in for that.
00:11:13And who will plan the tour?
00:11:15I'm going to put myself on the tour team with Chisola, Max, and Jana.
00:11:19And on the selling team, anyone want to be sub-team leader?
00:11:22I would love to be.
00:11:23I have experience in B2B selling and B2C.
00:11:25Ultimately, it's the same thing.
00:11:26How would you care for the customer?
00:11:27Okay.
00:11:28Everyone happy with that?
00:11:29Yeah.
00:11:29Okay, so.
00:11:30When we're negotiating with the customer, first rule, we don't say the price first.
00:11:34Trying to establish what the customer's willing to do.
00:11:36Because if we say a price, the customer's going to counteract that.
00:11:39Yeah.
00:11:39So, everyone happy?
00:11:41Yeah.
00:11:41Okay.
00:11:41Again, please emphasise, just don't drop the price so willingly.
00:11:45Understand the customer and what they're willing to pay.
00:11:47It looks unprofessional.
00:11:48Okay, so.
00:11:49It's about creating value.
00:11:50Yeah.
00:11:50Create the value, understand the customer, we can sell it at any price.
00:11:53I trust Carla as sub-team leader to lead the pricing as well.
00:11:56The key here is to create as much value as possible.
00:11:58Yeah.
00:11:59Dividing her troops.
00:12:03I'm a good communicator to large groups.
00:12:05And I also know a bit of German, so I think I'd be good in the tour team.
00:12:08Project manager, Emma.
00:12:11For the tour team, a big part of this is negotiating a group entry ticket price.
00:12:16So, whoever puts himself forward as a sub-team leader, I'm going to hold them accountable for getting that to the lowest possible price.
00:12:23Happy to pull myself up.
00:12:23Weather's strong.
00:12:24Yeah?
00:12:24Are you happy?
00:12:25Happy to pull myself up.
00:12:26Right.
00:12:26My energy, passion for that team.
00:12:28Come on, team.
00:12:3211 a.m.
00:12:34While half of each team finds takers for tickets, the rest will agree an entry price for tomorrow's tours.
00:12:43With the negotiation, guys, I would love if you guys could let me lead.
00:12:47Yeah.
00:12:47To the best price possible, leave that with me.
00:12:49Fab.
00:12:49Yeah.
00:12:50Yeah.
00:12:53Base for the forest team, the Upper Inn Valley.
00:12:58Oh, hello.
00:13:00Nice to meet you.
00:13:01Nice to meet you.
00:13:01Pitching with Polish dentist, Jana.
00:13:05And how much do you normally price your ticket at?
00:13:07Normally for about 130 euro per person.
00:13:11Okay.
00:13:12We want everyone to talk about this tour, to go back and tell their friends.
00:13:15I'm going to go and tell my parents when I come home.
00:13:17Guys.
00:13:18Thanks.
00:13:19You've got to come to us here.
00:13:20All of you guys, too.
00:13:21Yeah.
00:13:22Well, I could do 1,000 for 12.
00:13:27Let's shake our hands at 620 euros, which works out around 52 euros per person.
00:13:32It's fair for you, fair for us.
00:13:33We're going to make sure everyone has a great time.
00:13:36Okay?
00:13:36Let's do it.
00:13:37Thank you so much.
00:13:38Thank you so much.
00:13:39Brilliant.
00:13:39Fantastic.
00:13:41Really, really well done.
00:13:42Have 52 euros per person gives us a good margin.
00:13:44If the selling team is able to start 200 euros, that's 75% profit, guys.
00:13:48Do you want to start?
00:13:50Yes.
00:13:51Do you want to start?
00:13:52Yes.
00:13:53Do you speak German?
00:13:54100%.
00:13:55And then Amber Rose and Liam, I want you to build more rapport with the client.
00:14:00For the other team, a plan to win hearts.
00:14:03If we stick to building that rapport with the client before talking about numbers, they'll
00:14:06want to help us, for sure.
00:14:07And melt prices.
00:14:08Hello.
00:14:09Hello.
00:14:10Hello.
00:14:11How are you?
00:14:12Hi.
00:14:13I'm calling you Johnny.
00:14:14I live in Kent, London.
00:14:16Where are you?
00:14:17I'm directly here from the area.
00:14:19Wonderful.
00:14:20So how much would you usually charge per person?
00:14:2370 euros is the price.
00:14:25We had around the 35 euros per person in mind.
00:14:28That's not possible.
00:14:29Definitely a crazy price.
00:14:31Could you get closer to the 40 euro mark?
00:14:34I think we get closer to the 65 euros.
00:14:37Maybe 50 euros per person?
00:14:39No.
00:14:40Maybe 63.
00:14:41We can close around 55 euros.
00:14:42No.
00:14:43Let's talk about 60 euros.
00:14:4457 euros.
00:14:45I think it's a deal.
00:14:46Thank you so much.
00:14:48Thank you so much.
00:14:49Deal done for 57 euros per head.
00:14:54Their plan was to build rapport, charm the lady.
00:14:57Well, other than Johnny blurting out Wunderbar, I didn't hear any charm because Fred opened
00:15:02his mouth and asked her, how much do you want for your tickets?
00:15:04I mean, they had a plan.
00:15:06Why didn't they stick to it?
00:15:08Amazing.
00:15:09So excited.
00:15:10Bye-bye.
00:15:11Innsbruck, Old Town.
00:15:13Tomorrow, we're holding a tour.
00:15:15It's for electric bikes.
00:15:17Is that something you'd be interested in?
00:15:19While air conditioning boss Dean gets grafting.
00:15:24You're welcome.
00:15:25Short and sweet like that.
00:15:26Yeah.
00:15:27In and out.
00:15:28Across town.
00:15:29They are going for 175.
00:15:31Not really at the moment.
00:15:33Aw.
00:15:34On the Glacier team, Emma's price point.
00:15:36175 per person?
00:15:37Yeah.
00:15:38No.
00:15:39I think it'll be a little bit more.
00:15:40Okay.
00:15:41Gets an icy reception.
00:15:42175 euros.
00:15:43What are your thoughts?
00:15:45It's too expensive.
00:15:46Can we just have a quick regroup?
00:15:50Yeah.
00:15:51This is not happening, right?
00:15:52We've done absolutely zero sales.
00:15:54I really, really, and I've said this from the beginning, feel that this is too expensive.
00:15:59So let's just double...
00:16:00We can just change the approach, Emma, and maybe drop the price down a little bit.
00:16:03Yes.
00:16:04I think maybe a 149 mark.
00:16:05So let's enter a 149.
00:16:06Yes, let's do it.
00:16:07Fundamentally, guys, this is about winning the task, right?
00:16:10Okay.
00:16:11I mean, what is going on?
00:16:15How can we possibly sell when we don't even have the basics right?
00:16:19This is why I wanted to be project manager.
00:16:22As we walk, can I just set the scene?
00:16:24Let's really be positive and motivated.
00:16:25We've got time.
00:16:26Let's just keep the numbers.
00:16:27Keep the numbers.
00:16:29WH лучers!

00:16:57WHOO!
00:16:58our traditional singing style yeah yeah in the beginning it's a communication
00:17:03from mountain to mountain do you like to learn it yeah
00:17:10while the glacier team get to grips with their tour
00:17:34back in innsbruck if we were to sell them at 100 euros per ticket would you be okay with that
00:17:43as prices plummet we can meet at 85 yeah yeah done yeah yeah amazing for emma's half of the team
00:17:53a flurry of sales we're taking you up the glacier amazing pictures news how does that sound
00:18:00what if we did a deal we can do 82 50 and it's a deal 82 50 amazing thank you so much guys it's
00:18:07brilliant guys please let each other drive those sales yeah nadia you cut me up at the end i was
00:18:13ready to close it i got my hand out did you put your hand out i closed boss i disagree with that
00:18:17because 99 hang on 99 of the conversation was led by me building a relationship it's almost a little
00:18:23bit disrespectful for what we're trying to do i didn't say that you didn't lead it i said i closed
00:18:28it yeah the one we're offering tomorrow is an e-bike tour 200 euros per person sticking with their
00:18:36starting price we are we're poor students and yet to make a sale the forest team just gather around
00:18:45a second yeah so guys new strategy it's now all about volume target as many potential customers as
00:18:51possible right problem at the moment is targeting the wrong people so up the volume no not log it
00:18:56specific target customers try not to target elderly people physically fit to be able to ride these bikes
00:19:03agreed agreed let's go hi guys hi hello you speak english what are you local no from denmark well yes
00:19:12actually yesterday my father he's 97 years old oh wow congratulations 97 why are we trying to sell
00:19:19bike tickets to people that physically can't run a bike tomorrow we have a tour mountain e-biking
00:19:25is that something you'd be open to doing tomorrow it's a bit too fast for my father let's just move on
00:19:30i think wrap it up really appreciate it enjoy your time thank you thank you really good thank you
00:19:34really good yeah really good and congratulations to your father why are we flogging to 90 evolves
00:19:41carlo's a sub-team leader but he doesn't seem to be doing an awful lot of leading you've got kira
00:19:46and dina are incredibly big personalities who seem to be taking over i don't feel there's a lot of
00:19:50confidence in him just just see where i'm going with this no you just see where i'm going with this
00:19:54you've got to stop pulling anybody hi there are you local come on guys let's keep the energy come on
00:19:59let's keep the energy everybody grab a tree and hug them feeling their way through tomorrow's tour
00:20:09you know in a crazy world like now it's good to be close to the nature for project manager anisa
00:20:18come on a chance to check in
00:20:20hi guys how's it going we haven't made a single sale no sale we're trying to find the right
00:20:30i guess crowd which we we haven't done so yet so what price have we dropped it down to guys
00:20:34we've kept it at 200. okay i'm telling you drop the price let's go to 100 guys let's go to 100 because
00:20:41you guys need to get some sales in yeah okay okay what's the price that you guys have negotiated 52 euros a
00:20:47ticket so we have the bike tour we have a bit of girdling in the stock yeah we've got a really
00:20:54great tour pack we need to get the sales in yeah yeah see you guys thank you why would they speak to
00:21:00the 200 if they weren't selling yeah i said 200 to make deals to go down we have to pray that they get
00:21:07some sales in yeah 4 p.m up there there's amazing few points where you can see dolomites see the dolomites from
00:21:17there after a morning in the mountains how are you doing guys we secured the tour at 57 euros per person
00:21:25emma's tour team touch base okay give me some news give me some how many tickets have you sold we've sold
00:21:33two at 82.50 and two at so 335 euros in total but i thought that the price was 175 that's why we went in
00:21:43with the price we did unfortunately a lot of the tourists felt it was too expensive the tour is
00:21:49epic it is brilliant so please do just try and push this out please send it out guys i'm sorry i'm sorry
00:21:5880 euros euros that is concerning
00:22:045 pm we're gonna even do yodeling i'm gonna do a special performance it's a once in a lifetime
00:22:09opportunity you can't come yodeling with kia again for the forest team first sale of the day 100 euros
00:22:23driving up sales at rock bottom prices so the retail price normally of these tickets is actually 175
00:22:29but very lowest i could go is 65. the glacier ticket team let's go down to 60 and it's steel 62
00:22:3662 62 62 mate you ain't getting the cheese back come on okay yes they started to sell some tickets
00:22:46well of course they have they're dropping the prices like a stone i mean their profit margin is now down
00:22:52to five euros you can't even buy coffee for five euros around here i'm a closet right that's what i do
00:22:58so the only thing that's letting you down right now is price i guess yeah can we agree on a rock
00:23:05paper scissors 50 if you win 70 if i win playing fast and loose with ticket prices rock paper scissors
00:23:12shoot we've got a deal 50. kia's luck runs out i overheard that you're selling them to other people
00:23:23for 50 euros so i'm not fair for me appreciate that totally we'll be totally honest with you
00:23:31it was a deal or no deal situation we had a game of rock paper scissors so how much is still be 100
00:23:37euros okay no i'm sorry will you still come with us if we agree whatever the price yeah okay all right
00:23:44yeah all right okay yeah lovely thank you i feel like we've completely lost the plot in all honesty
00:23:52kia he's got overly confident selling tickets at 50 euros when the cost of the vendor was 52.
00:23:57i think we've lost sight of the entire of the entire task this is what happens when we don't stick to our
00:24:01pricing we need to start making a profit as simple as that we can't sell at 50 that's our break even okay
00:24:05let's keep positives high should we go back inside let's move
00:24:107 pm i think the key thing tomorrow is the information that we can provide yeah while anisa's
00:24:16team focus on facts individual stops is when we can hit them with more content rich information
00:24:23taking a different tack frederick's glacier gang the aim of the store is fun facts are good but we don't
00:24:31want to bombard them no no for sure so i think like one or two less is more sometimes 100 we've got games
00:24:37we've got sledging our guests are in for such a treat i think they've got this in the bag yeah
00:24:43let's go let's go now we need bums on seats for 59 euros okay
00:24:48one hour till sales must cease 100 euros each yes we've got this we've got this final push with
00:24:5810 tickets still to sell 80 euros that's great that's great 75 you have to shake my hand
00:25:05carlo's sales team basically you know e-bikes up in the forest but it's so much more than that as well
00:25:12for emma one last chance to do a deal so you actually get um like a honey experience um and
00:25:20we've got a yordeling which i think will be phenomenal and we've also got bread making which
00:25:27will be fantastic is that something i'll be interested to you no okay no worries
00:25:337 30 pm rough day we don't know what we could yeah selling over
00:25:46not ideal for me the people that are responsible will either be carlo or emma emma was quiet and
00:25:51didn't contribute made zero sales carlo didn't motivate a team like a leader's supposed to do
00:25:56all tickets gone all bums and seats honestly well done everyone
00:26:117am today both teams will run austrian excursions good morning everyone
00:26:18catching up with her sales crew i'm dying to know how did you guys get on project manager anisa
00:26:26the end we had a pretty successful afternoon we managed to yeah really turn it around so we
00:26:30finished on six sales six tickets how much for yeah so in terms of overall ticket price we sold them
00:26:42for a total of 375 euros and we spent 620 euros correct so currently we're a net loss of 245 euros
00:26:52correct sure the maths is right on that so yes i'm extremely disappointed they only sold six tickets
00:26:59so now we're at a loss that's completely unacceptable the team approached every single person used every
00:27:04sales tactic that we had in our books like it was a tough game out there and yeah
00:27:08we are dying to know how you guys got on yesterday so all tickets sold oh wow wow okay how much did you
00:27:22guys sell the tickets for
00:27:26at the end of the day it was more important as time's escaping to get the sales in what was the actual
00:27:31average order so the average was 70 euros so yeah we definitely didn't sell them for 175 euros reason
00:27:40being the price was set at too high but i would say to that as well there was frustrations in the team
00:27:45right that we were getting cut up but we closed the sale as a result i'm just going to finish but we
00:27:49closed those sale as a result there was reason why you closed every sale it's because you were cutting
00:27:53everyone off did you close sales i got cut off that was brutal there was a lot of tension in the ticket
00:28:01selling team i think that definitely contributed to why they didn't get sales which is really
00:28:05disappointing because you should put your differences aside and just get the job done what a joke sorry
00:28:11you know honestly what a joke
00:28:15for the selling team you're now the master class team right so i want you guys to find out everything
00:28:21possible about honey planning to partner with a local food producer so one of you guys will need
00:28:26to lead that conversation with commission okay and make sure we get a good one anisa pins her hopes
00:28:32on a sweet deal i would happily lead that conversation however i will have to switch teams because i said
00:28:38that i was going to do some yodeling what why did you promise to yodel one you don't even know how to
00:28:45yodel and two that would mean that you'd have to end up swapping into the other team without even
00:28:49having a discussion with us or the project manager so the reason i said it is people want to come on
00:28:54a tour with people that they want to have a good joke with and so i was trying to make something that
00:28:58was fun and as it is a joke i think you've actually put us in an awkward situation that forced us to
00:29:02have to switch you over to the other team because you promised your jodeling i'd like to bring you
00:29:06onto this team perfectly fine absolutely no problem and then jana because you're really good
00:29:10negotiations on our team i want to go to the other team to be in charge of that commission sure okay
00:29:14and we have to make up that 245 euros plus more everyone feeling confident today yeah
00:29:19okay let's do a team huddle team forest three two one let's go
00:29:27today half of each team will run their tours across that table is like watching school children they
00:29:32were squabbling they were speaking over each other we can only control our actions which is making sure
00:29:37we put on a fantastic tour which is easy so let's just enjoy it and have some fun the rest will carve
00:29:44out commission on goods to sell their guests guys i've got a tactic for the negotiations so what i'm
00:29:51going to do is right i'm going to stage this so when i say the word bitter that's the key word you come
00:29:55in right look you know what this is with 50 50 and we'll call it then right i'm going to look annoyed
00:30:00at you oh she's already said it now guess we've got to do 50 50 and then we'll close it from there
00:30:04we've got a good plan there good plan
00:30:10the hills are alive with the sound of me while the forest team begin their bike tour
00:30:233 200 meters up the glacier hello everyone you have made it up to one of the highlights of today's tour
00:30:31a geography lesson i'm going to give you a few facts about this incredible piece of infrastructure
00:30:36from english tutor johnny designed by local architects from the nearby town which is called remind me
00:30:46sorry bye valley no the town innsbruck there we go um and you can see the dolomites from this viewing
00:30:54platform in which direction are the dolomites actually very i believe they're that way but
00:31:03i'm not 100 sure and we're not 100 sure what directed dolomites are but what we can tell you
00:31:10wherever you look it's mountains okay who wants a picture
00:31:14they've really focused on making this a fun tour but to the detriment of the facts
00:31:23they've gone all the way to the peak they couldn't even tell them where the dolomites were and they
00:31:27forgot the name of the local town i mean that's not a great start come over to the dolomites are
00:31:32all right dolomites over there dolomites are everywhere
00:31:3911am in need of a way to top up takings as soon as i say the word bitter that's a signal for you
00:31:46to step in 100 for janna a high stakes honey deal we've got to put on a tour for six people
00:31:55and we'd like to bring them over here to sell your amazing honey
00:31:59so is it possible to do 80 percent commission
00:32:06no that's not possible 15 15 15 no would we possibly able to do 60 percent
00:32:17bitter bitter he's gonna be mad at me for this but what if we did a 50 50 split
00:32:24oh no that's i would really appreciate it 50 50. she's already said it and we have to do it now
00:32:29what we'll do is we'll shake on it 52 to you 48 to us done okay thank you very much thank you
00:32:38i'm really happy that emma heard my code word and was able to step in
00:32:41we managed to get it to 48 which i'm pleased with i'm hoping anisa is as well
00:32:45we just want to get kind of straight into the commission side on the other team
00:32:52haggling hard for a deal on schnapps how about us taking a 65 commission on every sale that we sell
00:32:58salon owner nadia whoo sorry 65 it's it's too much i actually would say 10 would be good for me that
00:33:08doesn't really make sense for us how about the kind of 38 mark sorry no maximum 15 25 is that a
00:33:16clause no final after 20 right it's a deal 20 okay
00:33:25the negotiation today has been really really challenging i personally like a soft approach
00:33:30whereas people like nadia go straight in for the kill i think we lost out on a great deal of
00:33:33commission today with such a low margin that really puts a lot of pressure on us now to get
00:33:38the sales i mean i wouldn't say it's a low margin is that a lot to you that is hell of a lot 20
00:33:45that's pretty decent in commission
00:33:50we're going over here towards the trees hitting the right notes on their tour yodeling back free the
00:33:561800s they would use this as communication from all the different mountains yodeling expert chisola
00:34:03okay
00:34:14so yesterday kira said he was going to an expert at yodeling no that's why we bought a ticket
00:34:20in that case big boots to fill though here we go
00:34:25yodley yodley yodley
00:34:34the highlight of the tour so far has been chisola and her yodeling
00:34:40however kia really wasn't up to scratch one thing that's a bit of a tradition here is
00:34:45tree hugging hands around the tree eyes shut and just believe guys
00:34:57thumbs 100 points on the slopes
00:35:00i thought you guys were enjoying the time focused on fun frederick's tour team you guys for
00:35:07watching your snow angel lie down and then move your hands and feet as fast as you can
00:35:14i'm loving angels instead and oh does anyone know the song i'm loving angels instead
00:35:27that was good that was good this is meant to be a factual guided tour but the last stop was chaos
00:35:35frederick was rolling around on the floor doing snow angels and leon was doing a snowball fight
00:35:39i mean it's not very guided or professional all right guys it's time for the sledging so let's hike
00:35:45down there let's get going off we go
00:35:51mid-afternoon
00:35:55while emma's team get a taste for schnapps oh that's strong that's good
00:36:00before giving their guests a honey master class the enzymes at work dry the nectar from 80 percent
00:36:08water content to 20 percent a lesson for jenna on the birds and the bees
00:36:14how do bees mate we haven't been a sex
00:36:24so the queen flies really high and then the male bees that follow her will be able to fertilize her and
00:36:29that could be seven or eight male bees seven 18 and mating with her at the same time so
00:36:38one after another one after one after another take you in turns can i just say i just think the
00:36:44type of questions i'm asking have to be relevant to the audience we're going to be delivered to
00:36:48there that makes sense
00:37:00while the forest tour reaches a peaceful conclusion three two one for frederick's fun squad
00:37:08a high-octane finish
00:37:20a high-octane finish
00:37:23yes we're in australia
00:37:26come on
00:37:29right who enjoyed that
00:37:33let's go let's go let's go
00:37:37how was the tour do you have a good time yeah how would you rate it out of 10 yeah 11.
00:37:41wow creating a buzz around honey once upon a time we had a small bee called bella jenna gets down
00:37:53to business watching bella is a group of male bees and thought wow she's so beautiful i want to mate
00:38:00with her those that did took their time with bella but as soon as they mated with her they passed out
00:38:08and died over to you so what they do they uh collect um nectar from the pollen once it gets digested
00:38:16through the bee it then turns into 20 percent nectar and then 80 percent water and that's what creates
00:38:22the honey sorry that's not quite correct 80 20 is it the other way around right no no no 80
00:38:29percent water then it comes out as 20 water 80 percent nectar
00:38:32and that's what creates your honey yeah
00:38:426 pm
00:38:45with one hour till guests depart so if any of you were interested in taking home a bottle today
00:38:51the snaps are really as fresh as you can get a final push to boost profits this is 21 new rules
00:38:57and the small bottle is 12. i'm going to take the small one
00:39:00you want oh if you were to purchase two that would be uh then give me one big one and one small one
00:39:05then fantastic thank you would you like to purchase one no all right we we're traveling tomorrow we've
00:39:10got no room they're taking the small one but just one actually two for 20 euros no i'm not so these
00:39:19are 13 euros there you go sir we're more than happy to do a deal 120 euros for all six photos 10 euros for
00:39:25four four i'll give you no it's non-negotiable and i'll happily drop it to 15 euros for you for this
00:39:31picture yeah yeah deal do it
00:39:367 pm
00:39:40tours complete
00:39:43nadi was a constant frustration for me however overalls pm i think we did a good job and i did
00:39:48not expect to be in that boardroom that was good hopefully it's enough to get us through get some
00:39:53profit and win the task yeah yeah i'm very disappointed in my sub team however i'm super
00:39:58happy about how day two went hopefully the sales are enough for us to win this task
00:40:05tonight takings will be totaled refunds reviewed tomorrow's trip to the boardroom
00:40:14you can go through to the boardroom now
00:40:28good morning so for this task i sent you to run tours in austria so glacier team
00:40:51emma you became the project manager that's correct north sugar you decided first of all that you're going
00:40:57to try to get 175 euros for a ticket you never sold a ticket for 175 no not even close so i know the
00:41:07prices start coming tumbling down correct so for the pricing as the day went on it had to be flexed
00:41:15really because they bought 12 tickets i wanted them all of them gone by the end of the day did you sell all
00:41:2012th yeah yes yes now nadia i heard that um you're a bit of a gazumpa occasionally like so somebody's
00:41:29talking to somebody and then all of a sudden you jump in and take over yeah it was highly frustrating lord
00:41:35sugar um we stood around for five hours making zero decisions sorry it was first say it was at three
00:41:42o'clock can i just add to that sorry i appreciate everyone speaking but there were countless occasions
00:41:48where nadia just absolutely steamrolled at the end of a pitch you wanted to keep her von trap shut
00:41:54then did you could say that anyway um you went off to talk to the tour operator so to speak yes so as
00:42:04sub-team leader i was told i was going to be held accountable i think you should start by telling
00:42:08lord sugar what your plan was yes so everyone had their role johnny spoke a little bit of german so
00:42:13we did you johnny it was two or three lines lord sugar is that all i'm johnny and i come from kent
00:42:21i think i think you think wunderbar is something from victoria secret
00:42:27you know what lord sugar it was a few lines but i do think it set a good foundation for the
00:42:33negotiation i think i think in hindsight you know we could have had a little bit more time
00:42:37to just really get to know her and speak to her a little bit more before going in with the price
00:42:42so she wanted 70 euros right and we ended up closing around 57 euros i spoke to her afterwards
00:42:49and she said she would have actually gone down to 50. so maybe if you had let your other teammates
00:42:54smooth her a bit more you might have got the 50. hmm okay so on day two we get to go on our first uh
00:43:03trek up the mountain i believe johnny you had trouble with your dollar mites do you know what
00:43:08lord sugar i said is some cream for that i said to the guests being candid with them i said i'm pretty
00:43:15sure it's in that direction pretty sure it's over there yeah what i would say is that we wanted the
00:43:19tour to be fun and exciting you know i got the karaoke out i really tried to engage all of our guests
00:43:25didn't quite catch on the way i wouldn't give up your day job um i would agree on the facts i thought
00:43:34all right um moving on forest team i heard in the beginning that when asked who wants to be the
00:43:41project manager uh everybody went silent right completely silent tumbleweed yeah
00:43:49yeah kia you're the only care that didn't want to become the pm you know anyway boils down to anisa
00:43:58yeah so i've been on multiple tours and i knew how to step up and also ultimately this is a profit and
00:44:03loss task so i knew the strategy was to maximize sales and minimize costs okay so tell me about your
00:44:08negotiation for the tour operator so we managed to get from 1600 um and knocked off around a thousand
00:44:15euros which uh the team were very happy with yeah yeah what is that per person 52 euro there's a 57
00:44:23yeah 52 that was good yeah so once we found out we had the phone call between the teams but i asked
00:44:28them how they did and they sold zero tickets which i was very disappointed by all right how long did it
00:44:33take you to before you sold the first about six hours six hours yeah were you waiting around for
00:44:39hansel and gretel or something like that no so my biggest concern from that phone call when i asked
00:44:44what you've been pitching for you said 200 and we had that 100 flex yeah i mean it very good yeah
00:44:50i guess we we are very clear from the feedback that we shouldn't go below 100 euros per ticket
00:44:55yeah and for some bizarre reason that we did we adopted this um some of the members adopted this
00:45:00rock paper scissors approach what to close some kind of sales which i wasn't happy about
00:45:03paper scissors whose whose brainstorm was that then that wasn't mine yeah that was myself instead of
00:45:10losing the sale i went for the price that i originally wanted and the price that he was comfortable
00:45:15paying uh as a way of hopefully at least getting that ticket you might be able to play a game of rock
00:45:19paper fired um anyway let's get into day two when the tour starts so we had our meeting in the morning
00:45:28and the team only sold six tickets and then we worked out we were at our 245 euro loss so as
00:45:34so you thought you were dead in the water straight away i try to keep it positive all of day two was
00:45:39about us getting that back getting back into the game and hopefully winning it's very synergistic to
00:45:44football for example that uh you go in at half time three nil down yeah um you're used to that aren't you
00:45:51that would be a load of bill fine one to talk yeah um no but it is synergistic uh in this case that your
00:46:01second half your day out you're actually is was your equivalent of the big comeback also when kia did
00:46:08sell he promised yodeling um so it made sense to bring him over to the tour team you're a yodeler no i'm
00:46:15not but you know at the end of the day you know you're talking to random people to get them to come to a
00:46:19tour his yodeling sounded like he had a strangulated hernia they were happy i understand very happy
00:46:28very good very good very good well i think it's that time now ladies and gentlemen that we start
00:46:35to look at the numbers i'll start off with tim can you tell me the total spend of your team
00:46:41well the team in total spent 620 euros on their tour right how much did they make from ticket sales
00:46:50commission on honey and photos and tips and all that stuff well you heard they struggled with the
00:46:55ticket sales throughout the day but they managed 511 euros and 40 cents any refunds
00:47:03well the guests loved the tour they rated it incredibly highly so there were no refunds however the low
00:47:12ticket sales meant natural loss of 166 euros wow a lot of effort and a loss
00:47:20yeah okay um karen uh same question uh well uh this team obviously spent more 684 euros uh but when it
00:47:34came to ticket sales commission on schnapps uh photos uh they made 914 euros and 50 cents right any refunds
00:47:46well um um they didn't ask for any so um they made a profit 230 euros and 60 cents well the glacier team
00:47:58uh has won right okay so i've got a great house for you um there'll be a welcome drink there and i'll see you
00:48:11uh uh on the next task thank you thank you thank you
00:48:29well um you lot have to go away now and uh have a chat amongst yourselves we'll come back in this
00:48:36boardroom later and we'll decide who's leaving the process off you go thank you thank you
00:48:54wow i love it it's insane it feels absolutely amazing to have won the first task i played a really strong
00:49:02part in the winning so what an achievement oh my god oh my goodness i'm just so elated that we won
00:49:14there was definitely a clash in styles it was pretty cut front but at the end of the day i think it was
00:49:18a convincing win the winning team guys this is really unacceptable when you weren't selling you need
00:49:31to make a new strategy how can i make a new strategy when the strategy that we're currently
00:49:35trying to do it clearly it wasn't working in four hours there's no sales they spent hours not selling
00:49:41anything and they didn't adapt to the situation carlo has to be accountable for that failure of the task
00:49:47lies on either emma for zero sales and i'm also dean the issue was we didn't stick to a strategy no game
00:49:53plan you had no game the game plan was to sell the thing about emma she's not consistent enough in
00:49:58terms of the energy levels they tailed off towards end of the day which cost us sales and the fact
00:50:02that kia made two sales which would blow the price that we paid for the tickets i think is unforgivable
00:50:06i sold the most from the team so to say that i was to blame for the lack of selling you're about
00:50:12as motivational as a pillow i think we failed the task because of carlo he didn't organize anything
00:50:18he had no game plan for us he was just in the way could you call the candidates in please
00:50:48so on the theme of that famous movie that has a little song in it which talks about do re me
00:51:00and the problem is is that there's no dough for me in in in this task right um i'd like to say of
00:51:08course as project manager i have to take some level of accountability however i was very clear on the
00:51:13first day to sell the tickets for around 200 euros as a top part and i gave a 50 buffer and said don't
00:51:20go below 100 euros ultimately the failure of the task is with the selling team on day one let me just
00:51:26say a lot sugar uh personally i feel like there wasn't enough effort to begin with i kind of envisioned
00:51:30this morning wasn't enough effort no i think we all made it what do you mean by effort i feel like
00:51:34there could have been more energy large sugar um sorry are you joking no complete rubbish i'm sorry
00:51:40from the off so much energy i'm not trying to blow my own trump here but i think i was extremely persistent
00:51:44throughout the task in trying to gain at least one ticket malika one ticket but the highest value
00:51:50ticket out of everyone again it's i know it's below 100 but it was the highest out of everyone
00:51:54lord sugar i just want to say you didn't sell any tickets did you i didn't but then i was indeed
00:51:59neither do you no i was really you are the chirpy chappy from essex i was very unlucky lord sugar yeah
00:52:04very unlucky yeah oh no um kia you sold three tickets correct two of them below cost right and this rock
00:52:13paper scissors nonsense this is not what you apply in business we were not going to get the sale because he
00:52:20wanted it for a particularly low price so as a way of hopefully trying to get the rate that we actually
00:52:25traditionally yeah but you're gambling gambling with the company's money it was either that or we
00:52:30weren't going to get a deal for for the rate we wanted i was hopeful in our abilities to then upsell
00:52:35at the the time of the tour but the margins surely lied in the um tickets as opposed to the honey
00:52:40honestly i think the whole selling team did badly i think they're just fighting over who did worse
00:52:46normally speaking i would be asking all of you why did you foul uh and all you're going to tell me
00:52:52is it because that lot got it wrong no yeah i would know what are you going to say then the fault lies
00:52:59within the fact that we didn't sell enough tickets yes but if we had we had a clear negotiation strategy
00:53:04we had a clear tour strategy we should have had a clear sell strategy i think i made it quite clear on
00:53:09the first meeting what the strategy was as i said multiple times the top selling is 200 don't go
00:53:15below 100. do you think it's all down to him then do you no i think it's not just on one person it's on
00:53:20the the sub team i think that carlo as a sub team leader should have dropped the price a lot quicker
00:53:26instead of sticking to the 200 euros per person carlo wasted a lot of time throughout the whole time
00:53:30you guys had smiles on your faces and then we're going to rock paper and scissors which just confirms
00:53:35exactly what i'm saying the professionalism wasn't there that's what i was trying to maintain
00:53:39throughout the rock paper scissors right but but excuse me excuse me i don't like to waste my time
00:53:45in this boardroom and so i've come to the conclusion as far as i'm concerned that this is all down
00:53:53to the sales team and the lack of sales so on that basis you three can go back to the house thank you
00:54:01okay okay so look dean go and sit over there next to please
00:54:17the bottom line is this is where the schnitzel really hits the fan right um because these people
00:54:25were in charge of the sales and they were the ones that caused the failure of the task okay but you
00:54:32were their leader yeah so dean you sold no tickets that is a problem so i tried to tell the sub team
00:54:41leader that we need to target our customers right and he didn't listen sorry could you repeat that last
00:54:47part and you said about volume i said nope we need to focus on a specific customer oh don't be so picky
00:54:54and choosy when it comes to business and just up the energy yeah but there's no point targeting the
00:54:58like the people that's never going to buy the ticket you approached you approach someone 90 years of age
00:55:03okay and try to put them on an electric bike okay okay so he was not he was 90 he was with his
00:55:08waiting about 15 minutes that wasn't a 15-minute conversation dean guys yeah did you tell me there
00:55:15okay okay apologies for that particular customer no i thought you had a son it was an electric bike
00:55:21this is what i'm saying your opportunities that was loads of opportunities i was taking this task
00:55:26very serious hence why i opted to be sub team lead in the first place because people who take a back
00:55:31seat in this process um it's not going to be good hmm emma defend yourself to me tell me why i shouldn't
00:55:39fire you i literally gave my all to this task um i'm constantly positive always thriving trying to get the best
00:55:48for us all as a team um and yeah i literally gave my all you didn't sell anything did you technically
00:55:58no but yeah what about you paul sugar the reason you shouldn't get rid of me is because from a sales
00:56:08perspective i generated the most revenue when it came to ticket sales if we hadn't got sales well then
00:56:13no what was the point of selling if you're losing money i mean what is the point of selling something
00:56:19if you're losing money i did still generated the most revenue from the sales team i did also help
00:56:25both malika and emma i didn't need any help i didn't i didn't need any help i would say out of everyone
00:56:31i was very persistent um i uh closed the again i know it was below 100 but it was still the highest
00:56:37compared to everyone at 80 euros down to the sub team leader to let us know if that was the right
00:56:42i think you have to take accountability as well i think from my standpoint i stand by every decision
00:56:48i made i've never been to austria before and i've never done at all before however i know i'm a good
00:56:53businesswoman and i'm a great leader and i knew what we had to do to win the task from every decision
00:56:59i made i was strategic about it and i adapted to the situation hmm you know the thing is this is the
00:57:07first task and because of the reluctance in the beginning of people putting themselves forward to
00:57:14be the project manager and that that means a lot to me to the people that actually finally did do it
00:57:20you know and so anisa um you are remaining in the process thank you carlo
00:57:37i think you're your own worst enemy it seems to me that you've got no colleagues here they've got
00:57:43a good word to say about you right and that sends a warning to me
00:57:50kia selling stuff below cost rock paper scissors
00:57:59amateur
00:58:02dean you know in your cv you say you're a salesman i mean he didn't sell anything as bad news as far
00:58:09as i'm concerned very bad news and emma you also haven't sold any tickets and you haven't explained
00:58:20to me what in fact you did do so look it's difficult but my gut feeling is telling me emma
00:58:30it is with regret you're fired oh thank you so much for the opportunity
00:58:48it's a shambles you know a bloody shambles go back to the house all of you thank you appreciate it
00:58:54the thing is she just didn't fight for it and if you can't show me what you're about
00:59:05i can't invest in you simple as that
00:59:07lord sugar has absolutely made a mistake i'm more than good enough to be his business partner and
00:59:26this will not be stopping me well sugar basically said we're not responsible for anything so you can
00:59:33go back to the house oh i do think carlo is responsible but carlo sold two tickets he did
00:59:43who didn't sell any tickets emma and dean both didn't sell any tickets
00:59:47what happened yeah basically said like he respects people who put themselves out there
01:00:17doesn't like people who hide yeah and he went off instinct and fired emma yeah i think it goes to show
01:00:23guys there's no hiding in this process yeah yeah now 17 candidates remain the search for lord sugar's
01:00:35next business partner has begun next time for this task you're going to create a new virtual pop star
01:00:44guys we're in the wrong industry guys we are in the wrong industry lows guys this is a disaster
01:00:52and in the boardroom i couldn't understand a bloody word you were saying a total flop you're fired
01:00:58for season 20 of the apprentice i need new candidates and if you think you have what
01:01:08it takes to be my business partner apply to bbc.co.uk slash apprentice
01:01:18and find out what it feels like to be booted off the process i came with her
01:01:22she's over on you're fired on bbc2 now
01:01:27you're fired on bbc2 now
