00:00In a city built on commerce, one man stands out.
00:06With a lifetime in business and a drive to succeed,
00:11he's on the hunt for the next big thing.
00:17Ready to fight for his funding, a pack of prospective business partners.
00:22The world is full of far too many wafflers.
00:25I get the job done, I walk the walk, I talk the talk and I dance the dance.
00:29The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
00:33That's how I live, that is my motto.
00:36I am an alpha male, I can make women do what I want in the business world
00:40and come to think about it, some men.
00:42On offer, a quarter million pound investment.
00:46I have an amazing idea for Lord Sugar that's going to make him a fortune
00:49and it's going to change the world.
00:50I'm not arrogant, because what I'm saying is all true.
00:52I'd give myself a 9 out of 10 for attractiveness,
00:54but I'm not better at business because I'm good looking,
00:56I'm better at business because I'm better at business.
00:58In the battle for backing, they'll risk it all to succeed.
01:02My absolute worst nightmare is getting to age 40 with a 50 grand salary
01:06and a four year old Toyota, it's just not going to happen.
01:09I'm like a little stealth bomber, I'm going to come in and smash the competition
01:13before they've even realised I'm there.
01:15Everyone's going to see me as Mr Nice Guy, everyone sees a friend in me,
01:19what they don't know is that I'm coming for them behind their back.
01:27Putting up the cash, Lord Sugar.
01:30I'm going to invest 250,000 pounds into a business, not a job, a business proposition.
01:37I won't be working, you will be working.
01:40Once an East End trader, today a corporate heavyweight, he's in the market for a brand new business partner.
01:51I'm looking for big bucks, I want someone that's got potential to bring me in a lot of money.
01:57I'm looking for red rum, not some fairground donkey.
02:02But to secure his support, a punishing selection process.
02:07Wow, that's a win, that is a win.
02:10Testing tasks.
02:12They're all covering their own backsides.
02:1512 tough weeks.
02:17You're so bossy, stop it.
02:19I saved the pitch.
02:20You're already speaking rubbish, mate.
02:22I'm not accusing you of being a liar, I'm accusing you of being a fantasist.
02:26You are deluded.
02:28And one life-changing opportunity.
02:31This place is full of sharks, you need to man up.
02:35It's down to business with The Apprentice.
02:38You shut up.
02:40I've had it now.
02:41You're fired.
02:42You're fired.
02:43You are a total shambles.
02:46You're fired.
03:02The boardroom.
03:05Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:06Would you send the candidates in place?
03:07Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:08Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:09Would you send the candidates in place?
03:10Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:11You can go through to the boardroom now.
03:15Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:16Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:17Would you send the candidates in place?
03:18Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:19You can go through to the boardroom now.
03:22Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:23Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:24Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:25Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:26Would you send the candidates in place?
03:27Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:28Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:29Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:30Would you send the candidates in place?
03:31Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:32You can go through to the boardroom now.
03:35Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:36Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:37Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:38Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:39Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:40Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:41Yes, Lord Sugar.
03:42Well, good morning ladies and gentleman.
03:45Well, good morning, ladies and gentlemen.
04:03Now, this is the tenth year that we have been in this boardroom.
04:07And so, on this special occasion, I'm going to start things off a little bit differently.
04:15Can you send the other candidates in, please?
04:30Well, welcome, the other four.
04:34What I've decided to do is to kick off with 20 candidates, 10 boys and 10 girls.
04:41That's the good news.
04:42Here's possibly not such good news.
04:46The process will still last 12 weeks.
04:50That means that, on certain occasions, I may decide to dispose of more than one candidate at a time.
05:01Be prepared.
05:02Now, this deal is all about getting a £250,000 injection into a company that both of us will own on a 50-50 basis.
05:14I won't be working.
05:16You will be working.
05:17I will be advising and mentoring.
05:19I've got your CVs here.
05:22They will speak very highly of you.
05:25Stephen, you say you're a social worker.
05:28I have a social work consulting business.
05:29You're Canadian, right?
05:30Yes.
05:30Prior to moving to Britain, I was actually living in the Arctic doing community development.
05:35Social work in the Arctic?
05:36Yes.
05:36I was travelling all over the Arctic.
05:38What was you doing?
05:38Counselling penguins?
05:41So your business idea is what?
05:43To start a supported living home for adults with moderate to high-level learning disabilities.
05:48And along with my...
05:49Got it.
05:50James.
05:51Yeah, Lord Sugar.
05:52I'm a bit of an entrepreneur.
05:53Like you, Lord Sugar.
05:54A bit of an entrepreneur?
05:55Yeah.
05:55Like you.
05:56Not like Del Boy.
05:57Your nickname is Del Boy.
05:58That's what you've put here.
06:00You do realise the particular character you're aspiring to was not a successful entrepreneur.
06:07Felipe.
06:08Lord Sugar.
06:08We're very international here, aren't we?
06:10You're...
06:10I was born in Colombia.
06:11Colombia.
06:12A lawyer.
06:13I'm a lawyer.
06:14You've had some terrible jobs here because one of them is advising Arsenal Football Club.
06:18It's a great football club.
06:20Really?
06:22Scott.
06:23I'm a Lord Sugar.
06:23I see myself as a mix between Gandhi and the Wolf of Wall Street.
06:30Not very clear.
06:32Right, Ella Jade, yes?
06:34Good morning, Lord Sugar.
06:35So my business idea is a production company specialising in documentaries which will benefit
06:40the greater good.
06:41Is it true you've got 100 animals?
06:43It is true, yes.
06:44It's probably around 80% sheep.
06:48All right, Sarah.
06:50Nice to meet you, Lord Sugar.
06:51You can sell snow to the Eskimos, according to your CV.
06:55Ice, actually.
06:56So you'll be OK there with Stephen, who's been up in the Arctic.
07:00Right, let me be very clear.
07:02While I know the headlines of your business ideas, you're going to need to work very, very
07:08hard in the next 12 weeks because I will not be going into the detail until we get to
07:13the end of this process.
07:15OK, so let's move on.
07:16I think it's about time I told you about the first task.
07:21All of the products that we have sold in the first task in the last 10 years, from flowers
07:29to fish, coffee, sausages, I'm going to give you the whole lot to sell.
07:35And I want to make it clear, selling these items is all about getting the highest price
07:41for them.
07:41It's not a fire sale.
07:43You've got to use your brains.
07:44We're going to start with boys versus girls.
07:47And I want to know who the project manager is going to be for your team and your team.
07:55Keep the salespeople selling and get someone in management to manage the task.
08:00Who's got sales background here?
08:01So I do sales, but I do sales.
08:03I'm very good at selling.
08:04I mean, I think who's going to manage?
08:07If you all sell, I manage.
08:08Go for it.
08:09I'm saying that you're experts, I manage.
08:10No worries.
08:11Felipe.
08:12Yes, sir.
08:13Fair enough.
08:14Ladies.
08:15Well, who feels the most comfortable, I think?
08:18Sell it.
08:18Who was the person that Lord Sugar said was the, you could sell ice to?
08:21I'm quite happy to be a project manager.
08:22Yeah.
08:23Okay.
08:24Fantastic.
08:26Sarah?
08:26Yes.
08:27Okay.
08:27Now, I don't need to introduce Karen and Nick here.
08:33They are my eyes and ears.
08:35Okay?
08:36So, off you go, and I'll see you back here in a couple of days' time.
08:41Tomorrow, ten years of selling in just one day.
08:52Hello.
08:53Hello.
08:53Hello.
08:54First, a chance to check out the competition.
08:57Hi, machine.
08:58Bianca.
08:58Nice to meet you.
08:59Nice to meet you, Sarah.
09:00Sarah, hi.
09:01Lauren.
09:01I'm Robert, by the way.
09:02Good.
09:02I'm Scott.
09:03Nice to meet you.
09:03Nice to meet you, Robert.
09:04Cool.
09:05People look at me, six foot seven, a little bit lanky, wearing stupid coloured clothes.
09:09I couldn't give a shit.
09:10I'm a global sports nutrition marketing manager.
09:13Previously, I worked for a global spirits brand, and I've also been in the territorial army.
09:18I'm a full-time marketing officer.
09:19I also manage and own three small businesses, a mother or two, and a carer from my father.
09:25So, quite a busy bee.
09:26Felipe.
09:26Nice to meet you, James.
09:27Nice to meet you, mate.
09:28Next, time to get the measure of their managers.
09:31Fair play, putting yourself in the ring round one, mate.
09:34Well done.
09:35You've put your neck on the line.
09:36We're going to back you 100%.
09:37Yeah, I expect that from you guys.
09:38Come on.
09:38Felipe is a dreamer that believes that everything is possible.
09:44Felipe's strategy in the process is to be Felipe.
09:46You said you were great salesman.
09:47Yeah.
09:48I'm a great manager.
09:49I believe that I can manage you guys, but you have to sell.
09:51I can't believe I've actually taken on the role of project manager.
09:57I know.
09:58Well done.
09:58Good for you.
09:59You can sell ice to the Eskimos, apparently.
10:01I've got a very good feeling we will sell it, and I tell you why, because we're female.
10:05And most people will buy from females because females are more attractive to look at.
10:09My strategy as project manager is to ensure that everybody likes me and to get everybody on my side.
10:16Tomorrow, what we need to do, we need to look hot.
10:18Loads of make-up, lipstick, high heels.
10:20We're going to wear short skirts.
10:21I didn't bring any short skirts.
10:23Okay.
10:23You need to hike it up, then.
10:24You need to do something.
10:25We're serious business women.
10:27I'm a project manager, so, you know, let's half of us go sort of dressed up.
10:31The other half are going to look sort of semi-average.
10:36Highgate, North London.
10:39For the candidates...
10:41Amazing.
10:42Wow.
10:42I love the decor in here.
10:44A glimpse of their new home.
10:47This is so lovely.
10:49Isn't it well nice?
10:50I love cereal.
10:52One, two, three, four, five, six.
10:54Good so you can count.
10:55Oh, I love her.
10:57Oh, this one's mine, I think.
10:58And a storage space.
11:00Yes.
11:00Lovely.
11:01Is there no shower?
11:02Uh...
11:03Is that the only wardrobe space we've got?
11:05There's no shower curtain.
11:09First on the agenda, the new teams need names.
11:12We'll take a seat.
11:13I would like to ask each of you to tell me what name you would like for the group,
11:17and then we'll take it all together and see if we can all agree in one name.
11:20I think dynamic.
11:21I think we're going to have to think on our feet.
11:23I think dynamic really clarifies that.
11:26I've came up with Viper.
11:27I think it's short, sharp, and it's a good team name.
11:30I would go for Summit.
11:32We've risen to the top.
11:33Summit, you know?
11:34Summit.
11:34Summit.
11:35Sounds like, oh, I'm going downtown or Summit.
11:37I'm going to go and do Summit.
11:38No, no, no, no.
11:39It sounds cheap.
11:41Summit has never been done.
11:42Have you ever heard of a company called Summit?
11:43There's a reason for that.
11:46Can we vote for Summit, okay?
11:47I'll go with Summit.
11:48Two.
11:48I go with Summit.
11:49I'll go with Summit.
11:50Yeah, Summit.
11:50We have a majority.
11:52The team, though, was my idea.
11:53I was listened to, and that's what's going to happen in this process.
11:56Summit!
11:57There's no I in team, famous saying, but there's five in individual brilliance.
12:03On the girls' team...
12:05I've got one, as it's the 10th year, decade.
12:08Why don't we go for decadence?
12:09Oh, I like that.
12:11A name from Nooran.
12:12What does decadence mean, though?
12:14What does it mean?
12:14It could be too spoiled, you know, like, too over-the-top, almost.
12:19What are the other options?
12:20I think it should be called grafters.
12:22Sorry, I prefer decadence.
12:23I just think it sounds so much more elegant and feminine.
12:26Team decadence.
12:28Finally.
12:28I'll take some champagne.
12:30We're all really good grafters.
12:32Team talk's over.
12:35Tomorrow, to work.
12:364.30am
12:45Morning.
13:00Good morning.
13:01Lord Sugar would like you to collect your products from Leadenhall Market.
13:03The cars will be outside in 20 minutes.
13:07Guys, you've got 20 minutes.
13:09How long?
13:1020 minutes.
13:11What?
13:11No, not 20 minutes.
13:15Big day today, isn't it?
13:16Get this first one done.
13:17Make sure we beat the girls.
13:18It's going to be a walk in the park.
13:20Yeah.
13:21So we need to talk about the strategy this morning.
13:24Yeah.
13:24In terms of what we're wearing, we all look very nice so far.
13:26Nice dress.
13:27Heels.
13:28Whether we have shorts, skirts on or short dresses on, it's not going to really matter.
13:32I think we really need to think about strategy and how we're actually going to sell this stuff.
13:34That's important, but bring some nice make-up.
13:38Is she serious?
13:43Hidden in the heart of the city, Leadenhall Market.
13:48Centre of trade for seven centuries.
13:52Today, pick-up point for ten years' worth of products.
13:55From flowers and floaty fish...
13:59..to cleaning kit and coffee.
14:11First job...
14:13..decide how best to squeeze cash from their commodities.
14:17Oh, wow, look.
14:20Nice flowers.
14:22So we have potatoes, we have a bucket of roses.
14:24Coffee beans.
14:25Coffee beans.
14:25Coffee beans.
14:25Leading products here.
14:26Sausages.
14:27T-shirts.
14:28I think we need to focus on adding value to a product, because if we add value, we can sell it for more.
14:31We should be able to print on these T-shirts.
14:34Also working on ways to maximise mark-ups.
14:37Get the lemons to get as much, you know, money out of these as possible.
14:40From project manager Sarah, a sharp idea.
14:43Cut these up into small slices and actually sell the cut-up.
14:48I don't think...
14:48No, no, no, no, no, no, no, I don't think.
14:50OK, so what do we get the highest margins on?
14:53Coffee.
14:53What do you think we can do, then, with the lemons?
14:55I think we need to sell those bulk.
14:57I think we could actually get a lot more money.
14:58By cutting them up...
15:00No, we're not cutting them up.
15:02I just wonder whether we should get the T-shirts, get them printed.
15:05We can actually do a 200% profit.
15:07Can I just stop you there?
15:08If we sell chopped lemons...
15:10No, stop with the chopped lemons.
15:12We're going to make £500.
15:14Hands up if you think we should chop the lemons.
15:15No.
15:17Anybody I want to talk, I want to put their hands up, OK?
15:20Taking charge of the boys, lawyer Felipe.
15:24We're straight here.
15:25Sausages.
15:25If we get the lunchtime rush, they're high mark-up.
15:28We've only got to sell about 150 hot dogs to make the same as we need to sell 500 cups of coffee.
15:33Really, really good idea.
15:34Gourmet hot dogs at Shoreditch Food Village, selling to the East London cool guy.
15:39I go with the hot dogs option, I think that's the right option.
15:42Sausages sorted.
15:44Just to make clear, I'm good with logistics and I'm good with selling to consumers.
15:47Yep.
15:47Next, work out who does what.
15:50I want you to come with me, Rob, to sell hot dogs with me.
15:52Daniel, I want you to come with me and sell hot dogs.
15:54So we have two teams at the moment, OK?
15:56Strong teams, boys.
15:56Two strong teams, OK?
15:58I think the most effective is street selling.
15:59I don't want to do the whole thing.
16:00I'm not asking you if you want to do it or not.
16:02I'm very concerned with the decision you've made.
16:03It's the wrong choice.
16:04OK, we agree to disagree.
16:06We have a big team with big egos.
16:08Everybody wants to have a voice.
16:09Everybody wants to be shown to have ideas.
16:11Charles, I want you to be my second manager.
16:14So you're going to go into our team, OK?
16:15Can I just, can I say something?
16:17No.
16:17I had to be quite strong to the fact that I was making the decisions.
16:21Is my head, my body and everything else, you know, on the line?
16:25So what are you doing in the afternoon?
16:26We're selling to wholesale.
16:27In the morning.
16:28In the morning.
16:28Oh my God.
16:29We need a strategy.
16:30I'm sorry.
16:31You're really confusing me now.
16:33Dividing her team into Sarah.
16:36I'm going to spit this down the middle.
16:37I'm just going to make things easy, OK?
16:38I don't want to make it complicated for any of us.
16:40Do you know who's the best seller?
16:40I don't think it's, at the moment, I don't know you well enough to kind of judge that.
16:43I'm just trusting you.
16:44But we can tell you.
16:45Sarah hasn't divided the teams with any logic.
16:48She should be looking at whose skill set is best used where.
16:51I'm OK with coffee.
16:52Right, so at the end of the day, we haven't got time.
16:55We haven't got time, OK?
16:56She doesn't seem to have a very strong strategy, so it's hard for us to kind of depend on her
17:02and believe in her when she doesn't seem to have it together.
17:05Come on, come on, come on, come on.
17:07All right, you take that one.
17:09I'll take this one, OK?
17:109.30 a.m.
17:11Guys, what do we have?
17:13Coffee.
17:14Wait, watch your bite.
17:15You got it?
17:19Stock split.
17:21Let's go sell.
17:22Time to hit the road.
17:24We're going to do great.
17:26You too, yeah, take care.
17:27Give me a call if you need anything.
17:28Yeah, we'll do.
17:31The city.
17:33OK, saucers, can we look at saucers here?
17:35Cheese.
17:36Searching an organic supermarket to make their sausages special.
17:40Does it eat them?
17:41Marketing man, Robert.
17:43Take four of that ones.
17:44No, that's mature, that is mature.
17:45I've been put to charge of gourmet hot dogs.
17:48We have here an avocado hummus, seaweed.
17:51We're going to make them special,
17:52and we're going to sell them for a higher margin.
17:54Next, please.
17:55Feta.
17:56One at a time, one at a time,
17:57because I cannot hear everybody.
17:59Do we have enough cheese?
18:0111 a.m., Greenwich.
18:03Hiya.
18:04Turning plain T-shirts into a pretty penny.
18:07Roisin from Team Declan and Peru.
18:09Hiya.
18:09Ellen.
18:10Roisin's half of the girls.
18:11It's just got to be something you can sell instantly.
18:15Something, oh, cool, I want to buy that T-shirt.
18:16Yeah, that's why we thought real is quite a, like,
18:19a caravan anyway.
18:19What about hashtag London?
18:21Just that.
18:22Yeah.
18:22London.
18:23Yeah?
18:23I would wear that.
18:25Yeah.
18:25I would all agree on hashtag London.
18:27Hashtag London.
18:28Yeah, definitely.
18:29Are we all happy with the colour and the design?
18:31Yeah, it looks great.
18:32Design signed off.
18:34You can do us a good deal, I'm sure.
18:36While the girls agree a price...
18:38Well, I'm 50, then.
18:39There you go.
18:39Across town...
18:42So we've got small, medium and large bouquets.
18:45Yeah, it looks really a lot.
18:46Yeah?
18:46Using flowers and fresh coffee to attract commuters...
18:50Would you like a double?
18:52Yeah.
18:53Double espresso, please, girls.
18:54Sarah.
18:56Are you going to be making that coffee, then?
18:58No, but you are.
18:59I'm project managing this whole task.
19:00So you're...
19:01And I actually spoke to those people.
19:03Do you want to get espresso for the gentleman, please?
19:05Hello, it's Sarah here.
19:10We have come into a bit of a problem.
19:12Oh, what?
19:13You guys have all the seed capital.
19:16Oh, dear, all the money.
19:18Yeah.
19:19So you've sent them to the printers with no money?
19:21Yeah.
19:21Well, that's an issue.
19:23Well, yeah, but I didn't realise that, so...
19:25No.
19:25Big mistake.
19:28Here's a Lulu.
19:30The seed money wasn't handed over to Rasheen,
19:32who's gone off to get the T-shirts printed.
19:34Who's to blame?
19:36Sorry, listen, this is completely my fault,
19:38and I take full responsibility for that.
19:39No worries, look, we'll see you soon.
19:41OK.
19:41No.
19:42They're on their way back here to get the money.
19:44Loss of selling time.
19:47That is such a delay.
19:49I don't mean to get the boot in on Sarah,
19:51but the brainstorming was a disaster.
19:54There was no control, there was no decisiveness.
19:56And then, after that, we find out about the seed capital.
19:59It's just been error after error.
20:03Lunchtime.
20:05Let's think about this logically.
20:06150 hot dogs, four blocks of cheese.
20:08How much cheese are we going to be using for each hot dog?
20:11Still shopping for gourmet ingredients, Felipe's team.
20:15Why don't we take some of this one?
20:16Look, they are cut up.
20:17We just can put them on quickly.
20:18Cheese on a hot dog?
20:19There's like one, two, three, four, five, six.
20:21There's another seven there.
20:22Team Summit have wasted so much time coming here.
20:26It's already midday.
20:28They picked the hot dogs because they wanted the lunchtime trade.
20:30At this rate, there's not going to be any lunchtime trade.
20:33There's not going to be any dinner trade.
20:35The main consideration now is getting to the hot dog stand.
20:38Sell, sell, sell.
20:39We don't know where we're going, James.
20:42Also running behind.
20:44Who's got them up?
20:45Who's got the address, guys?
20:46And rushing to the printers, the rest of the boys.
20:50We haven't even got the T-shirts, guys.
20:52We're running without a T-shirt.
20:54Come on, sprint.
20:55That's a rookie move, that is.
20:57Right, let's slow down.
20:58Let's calm it down a little bit.
21:00Have we got any trade contacts around here to sell the T-shirts?
21:02What have you got in there, James?
21:03Have you got a potato?
21:04Potato, fish.
21:05I've got everything.
21:08Hey, mate, here you go.
21:08A box for the T-shirts?
21:10Yeah.
21:10We want a logo putting on it.
21:12Some kind of artwork.
21:13The five of us here each come up with one idea.
21:16You've got 30 seconds to think of it, and then we pitch it.
21:19Yeah.
21:19On the other team...
21:31Wait, careful, careful.
21:33..racing back to collect their cash...
21:35Greenlight, go, go!
21:36..the girls take a pit stop to push potatoes.
21:39Can we give you two bags, that's 50kg, for £15?
21:44They're brilliant spots.
21:45£7 a bag.
21:47£7 a bag.
21:49£7.10?
21:51That's seven pounds.
21:52Please, Green.
21:52Go on.
21:53Seven pounds?
21:54Seven pounds.
21:55Go on.
21:56OK.
21:56Great.
21:57Deal done for just £14.
22:00Still to sell half the spuds.
22:04Not the best sale, but I was the first one to make a sale,
22:07so I'm happy with that.
22:08Hi.
22:09We're not in the best location, but look, it's one sale.
22:12Hopefully I'll sell more this afternoon.
22:15Positive impact, big impact.
22:17It doesn't mean anything to anyone, does it?
22:18Still searching for a slogan.
22:21Rise, R-I-Z-E, and then a picture of a arrow.
22:25Charles is half of the boys.
22:27We were here late, we need to get out selling now.
22:28We've got to get this sale.
22:29That's all we need to be doing right now.
22:31There's absolutely no leadership from Charles.
22:34We need a little direction and a little channeling
22:36because we're starting to make a shambles of this whole thing.
22:39I've got an idea.
22:40Buy this T-shirt.
22:42Yeah, and go, buy, in that big long letter.
22:44Buy this T-shirt.
22:45Yeah.
22:47This is going to hurt in the boardroom.
22:49We need to move on now.
22:50With time to kill while printing takes place...
22:54But we don't know where we're going, though.
22:56Social worker Stephen lobbies to stay local.
22:59There's a very well-known shop that sells mashed potatoes.
23:02Let's go there and see if they'll take our potatoes.
23:04Guys, guys, guys, I'm going to make a fundamental decision here.
23:07We're going to go to the balloon shop,
23:08we're going to sell the balloons,
23:09and we're going to come back here for the T-shirts after that.
23:11I'm with that, Charles.
23:12I'm going for that decision, and I don't care what anyone else says.
23:14OK.
23:14Let's go.
23:16We hit the road hard now.
23:201.45.
23:23Shoreditch.
23:25You look great.
23:26You look absolutely amazing.
23:28Hungry for sales of their dressed-up dogs...
23:31Let's do this.
23:32Have you eaten?
23:33...Felipe's sausage sellers.
23:35Can't tempt you in a hot dog?
23:36All right, guys.
23:38Hey, how's it going?
23:38Is there food in there?
23:40Have you...
23:40You've got food.
23:41We missed a bit of the lunchtime rush.
23:43I'm trying to do everything in my power to make sure we can get it back.
23:46Hello?
23:47You didn't notice me.
23:48I'm wearing a hot dog outfit.
23:50My strategy going forward, simple.
23:51Four words.
23:52Sell, sell, sell, sell.
23:54One, two, three, four.
23:55Can we have four Mexicans, please?
23:57It's hummus guacamole, which is lovely, OK?
23:59It goes really well.
24:00They're absolutely delicious.
24:032.30.
24:04So, guys, with this sale, I just want 100% your commitment and attention.
24:09I'm going to go in and do the pitch.
24:10Please don't talk over the top of me while I'm in here, OK?
24:14Brokering balloons to a kid's party company, sales manager Mark.
24:20What we've got to offer you guys today is these balloons here.
24:24I don't want it.
24:25Is that something that you guys can use in the business?
24:28We often use other companies for that.
24:31I suppose you have to pay a premium for them, don't you?
24:32James.
24:32Yeah.
24:34If you bought them direct, you're going to miss the middleman.
24:37James, James.
24:37You can buy them direct.
24:38James, you can just, you know, yeah.
24:40Sorry, guys.
24:41James, I'll talk to the guys.
24:43So, I was thinking of £300 done.
24:46I mean, I had more of a figure of about £100.
24:49£100 is a good deal.
24:51Not only that, we're chucking in ribbon, we're chucking in weights.
24:53£250.
24:54James, £200 all in.
24:57We need more than that, don't we, guys?
24:58Hang on.
24:58James.
25:00If you can come to £2.30...
25:02There's got to be a bargain at £2.30.
25:04Yeah, £2.30.
25:05Let's do a deal, yeah?
25:06Cheers.
25:06Thanks, mate.
25:08Fish flogged, netting the boys over £200.
25:12He's northern, I do apologise.
25:14He's a little bit confused.
25:15You want to make some money, don't we?
25:15He'll sell his grandmother.
25:19Central London.
25:20That's £2, please.
25:22For Sarah's team, a mid-afternoon coffee rush.
25:25Can't do any more.
25:26Someone's got to be serving.
25:28Someone's got to be taking the money and someone's got to be managing this.
25:30I know, but we can't keep these guys waiting, Sarah.
25:33Well done.
25:35We've done really well today.
25:37We have sold so many coffees.
25:38I've just sold £20 for £35, which I think is a great sale.
25:41Was that your sale?
25:43That was my sale.
25:43Right, then you come and help with coffees then.
25:45Well, no, because I'm project manager, I'm afraid.
25:47But you can come and help.
25:47I'm actually managing this whole task.
25:49That is my duty, so please don't tell me what I need to do.
25:52So you're going to sell everything and we're just going to grab?
25:55I'm sure they're quite annoyed with me, but, you know, just the way it goes.
25:58They're serving the coffee.
25:59We can't do everything.
26:00I can't stand there and make coffees.
26:02I seem to be doing a very good job in selling, so I think I'm, you know, I'm going to continue doing that.
26:07I'm sorry.
26:10London Bridge.
26:12Thank you, sir.
26:12Thank you, sir.
26:13Thank you, sir.
26:13Thank you, sir.
26:14While the girls secure a tasty deal on their bangers.
26:19Got rid of all the frankfurters for £178.
26:22This is just the pick-me-up we needed.
26:23Do you like a hot dog?
26:24For the boys.
26:26You don't eat meat?
26:28This is probably the wrong thing for you.
26:29Sausage sales have stalled.
26:31This sub-team have run out of customers, but they've done OK with the hot dogs.
26:35They've upsold, they've sold them at the right price.
26:38Smashed it.
26:39Well done, guys.
26:39The only person who's struggling to find his place is Scott.
26:43Come on, give us a shot.
26:44Give us a taste.
26:45He hasn't really sold anything and he hasn't really contributed anything.
26:49Can't temperature.
26:523.45pm.
26:55Picking up their petty cash.
26:57Come on, we're nearly there, I'm sure.
26:58The girls.
26:59How much do you need?
27:00We need 150.
27:01OK, so there's the 50.
27:03Good luck.
27:05Good luck.
27:08Cash flow finally fixed.
27:11It's back to the printer on the other side of town.
27:17Pressure has been put on us.
27:18This is our big ticket item.
27:19We're just going to have to do as fast as we can.
27:21If we get one big deal, that's it.
27:22That's it, we're done.
27:24Hello, Felipe.
27:25Taking his team in a different direction.
27:28What happened with the T-shirts?
27:30Childs.
27:31We've got two options.
27:32And I'll tell you which one I've chosen.
27:33The T-shirts are about an hour and a half away.
27:35But we've got an appointment to try and sell the potatoes and potentially the cleaning material.
27:40We need to sell the T-shirts.
27:42Make it clear to him, if we go to the appointment, we probably won't get the T-shirts.
27:45Just to let you know, we might not make it back to Greenwich.
27:48In enough time to sell T-shirts, go to the appointment because it's the only lead that you have at the moment.
27:53But we really are running out of time.
27:55I want the T-shirts to be sold.
27:56All right.
27:57Thanks, Felipe.
27:58Thank you, Felipe.
27:59If I was you, I would turn around and go and get the shirts.
28:02I appreciate your comments.
28:03I made a decision.
28:04And I can't understand what comments like that are helping to the situation.
28:07I have been helping.
28:08Had we gone to Geras, which was five minutes' walk from that T-shirt shop, this wouldn't have happened.
28:12All right.
28:12I pack it in.
28:13If you're going to complain, at least do something.
28:15As sub-team manager, you've made a decision and I'm following your lead.
28:18I would not go against something you said.
28:19I appreciate your support.
28:20Oh, no problem.
28:21Don't throw him under the bus, though.
28:22I'm not throwing him under the bus.
28:24I'm being very supportive.
28:275.15.
28:30Taking her team on a trip to the zoo.
28:33Oh, gosh, look, it's Penguin Beach.
28:35Come on, guys.
28:36Sarah.
28:37Wait for us.
28:38With a plan to clean up.
28:40Hello.
28:41Thank you very much for meeting us today.
28:42Basically, we have some cleaning products and we were thinking it would be really good if we asked you
28:47if you would like to buy this from us for £250.
28:52How did you come up with the price point of £250?
28:54Well, to be honest, it's a bargain.
28:55We've knocked it down from £300.
28:57So I thought, well, you know, being nice to you because you're such a great organisation and I love the zoo.
29:02Right.
29:03These are very, very good toilet brushes.
29:06They're very sturdy.
29:08And these gloves.
29:10Right.
29:11Are all the products environmentally friendly?
29:13Because obviously it's important for the animals here at the zoo.
29:15I think so, yes.
29:16I think they are.
29:17You think so?
29:18Let me check.
29:19Well, they are plastic, so I wouldn't want to see them, obviously, near the penguins.
29:27We've got some challenges with some of their products as well and the amount we could use them on site.
29:31Thank you for your time, anyway.
29:34Thank you very much.
29:35Take care.
29:36Bye.
29:36Bye.
29:36Bye.
29:37Bye.
29:37Bye.
29:41It was a little bit embarrassing with the amount of money that we were going to charge.
29:44Yeah.
29:45Yeah.
29:45Do you think you did a great pitch?
29:46I thought I did.
29:496 p.m.
29:52Covent Garden.
29:54Felipe?
29:54We have an hour left.
29:55What is your strategy to sell the T-shirts?
29:57We're going to leave the T-shirts.
29:58What we're going to do is we're just going to get the cleaning products and just shift them.
30:02Felipe, you've got to let them get on with this.
30:03Just get on hard and sell.
30:05OK, go for it, guys.
30:06Let's go.
30:07For Felipe's boys.
30:09Guys, we have beautiful bunches of flour, £5, £4 for a lemon.
30:13Thank you very much.
30:14One last push.
30:16Merci, Vicky.
30:17Hello, ladies.
30:18You're interested.
30:19You want a flour.
30:21Do you have a boyfriend?
30:23Would you like one?
30:25Yeah, I interest you.
30:26How many do you want?
30:27Just one rose from my friend here.
30:29That is so nice of you.
30:30Next, please.
30:33Right, come on, guys.
30:34Go.
30:36Do your windows need cleaning?
30:37Give us 20 and we'll give you windows quickly.
30:39We'll do that.
30:40Yeah?
30:40Let's go fast.
30:41Do this quickly, guys.
30:42We've got to get out of here.
30:43This is mucking around.
30:44Customer satisfaction is our key.
30:49We're going to wipe this for you.
30:50You missed a spot over there, guys.
30:5230 minutes left.
30:55Finally, back at the printers.
30:57I'm so sorry.
30:59But short on time to sell their shirts, from Roisin, a plan to claw back some cash.
31:05This might be a bit unorthodox, Simon.
31:08Right, right.
31:09And a bit unusual.
31:10As long as you don't want me to buy them.
31:11Well, just want you to consider it for a second.
31:14No, I'd have them for years.
31:16Honestly.
31:17What about, what about then if we said £4 ago, £240, shake hands now and you will at least double your money.
31:23I'd give you 50 quid for a month.
31:24Oh, sign.
31:25We were going to sell these for a 10 at 8.
31:27You didn't know.
31:2960.
31:2950.
31:30You're never going to shift them anywhere else.
31:31OK, OK, OK, come on, let's do it, let's go.
31:33Shirts sold for £50.
31:35The hangers, they're worth like at least £10.
31:38Dressing up the deal, Ella Jade.
31:41Yeah, go on then.
31:42Yeah?
31:42Yeah.
31:4216?
31:4316.
31:43Thank you so much.
31:44Come on, girls, we can do it.
31:49Four lemons for a pound, guys.
31:50Four for a pound.
31:51And another one.
31:52Four for a pound, there you go.
31:53And another one.
31:54Lemons going everywhere.
31:55You're killing the lady.
31:56Wrap her up five a pound worth of rose and we'll do a deal, yeah?
31:59OK.
31:59Done, see?
32:00Well done.
32:02Don't you want to see Scott?
32:04What would you say the value is?
32:05Help me out here.
32:06I've never sold crates before.
32:07Five.
32:08Five for that and five for that, £10.
32:09Let's do it.
32:10Just sold the two crates we've got there.
32:11Our flower crates.
32:12Yeah!
32:15Five minutes remain.
32:19For the girls.
32:20Pub, pub, pub.
32:21Just the pub?
32:22Potatoes and lemons left to push.
32:25Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.
32:26Oh, yes.
32:26Don't jump, plads, don't jump, don't jump.
32:28What the hell are you doing?
32:29Hey, how are you?
32:30How are you?
32:30How are you?
32:32In London Bridge.
32:34How are you doing?
32:34Not a little bit busy.
32:36Last chance for the boys to shift their spuds.
32:39We've got 100 kilos of Paris Miper.
32:42Paris, what is it?
32:42Paris Piper.
32:43Paris Piper, sorry.
32:44Paris Piper, okay.
32:45Can I have a little look?
32:46Yeah, yeah.
32:46Would you be in the office in the market for buying the full 100 kilos?
32:49Possibly, come to my next question, which is price.
32:52150 quid for the lot.
32:53That's way too much.
32:54Okay.
32:55You're charging way over the odds.
32:56Sure.
32:57What are we talking?
32:5820 quid.
32:5920 quid, no, miles away.
33:01Miles away.
33:02We've got 230 lemons.
33:05What do you take?
33:06The lemons for 30p a lemon?
33:0866 pounds total.
33:10And then two bags of potatoes for about 50 pounds?
33:13That's 25.
33:14I think it's expensive.
33:15Okay.
33:1760 quid.
33:1860 quid, we can't do this.
33:19What can we do?
33:19We can do 100?
33:20Too much.
33:21Drop the price.
33:22Make it 90.
33:24Now shake your hand today on 90.
33:25Impossible.
33:26These potatoes, when you look at them, they almost shine in the gristling sun.
33:29And in a way, when you have your customers enjoy these potatoes, it's not going to be just a potato, it's going to be an experience.
33:3550 kg of potatoes and 230 lemons for 100 pounds.
33:40Really, really?
33:41No, no.
33:4275 pounds.
33:4470.
33:4475 is my final offer.
33:4680 quid, J-Mo.
33:47Come on.
33:4775 is my final.
33:475 pound more.
33:48They are very, very good quality.
33:50And we can even throw in a wheelbarrow.
33:5275 quid.
33:5375.
33:5375 is a hard bargain.
33:55With the wheelbarrow.
33:56It's supposed to be doing business.
33:57No worries.
33:5860 pounds.
33:5865.
33:59No, no, 65.
34:00Oh, no.
34:01All right, 50 pounds.
34:02Deal.
34:02No, no, no, no.
34:087 o'clock.
34:11Trading over.
34:14We pulled together and we worked as a team.
34:16And it just shows what we can get done.
34:18I mean, Sarah as a PM.
34:19It's just been a disaster from her side.
34:22Tell you the truth.
34:23I actually forgot that we've got a PM.
34:25Me too.
34:26We're that way.
34:36Hello, Charles.
34:37Can you give me an update, please?
34:39Yeah, I can give you an update.
34:40We got to sell the potatoes for 75 pounds.
34:43Yep.
34:44But that's at the cost of the T-shirts.
34:46So you didn't get to sell the T-shirts?
34:48We didn't get to sell the T-shirts.
34:50No.
34:52We've lost time.
34:53And we've just had to do the best we can.
34:55Me and Mark have done two good sales.
34:57Let's just hope that you've brought something in too.
34:59How have you done?
35:00Talk to you later.
35:00Bye.
35:01Cheers.
35:01How much have you made?
35:03How much have you sold?
35:04Felipe.
35:06They've not sold much.
35:07They've not sold much.
35:11Tonight, totals will be totted up.
35:15Tomorrow, the boardroom.
35:17You can go through to the boardroom.
35:39Good morning.
36:05Good morning, sir.
36:07So, Felipe, you ended up as project manager.
36:13I believe you've come up with a team name.
36:16Team Summit.
36:17Daniel came with the name.
36:18Daniel, what did you do?
36:20Shout out, I thought of Summit.
36:22So, tell me how you said about the task, Felipe.
36:25So, I divided team thinking strategically of the strengths and weaknesses.
36:29I thought that Charles had many years of experience and could help me in their team as a sub-team leader.
36:34Good project manager.
36:35I thought it was good, he had a good direction and was organised, very well, so, yeah.
36:39Okay, sounds good.
36:40So, Felipe, what did you go off and sell?
36:42So, Felipe's team went to sell hot dogs.
36:45I heard we didn't start selling till later in the afternoon, is that right?
36:48We had to drive to Planet Organic Supermarket to get the ingredients.
36:52Oh, so they weren't just plain hot dogs?
36:53They weren't just plain hot dogs.
36:54So, we wasted time there.
36:55We missed some of the lunch hour.
36:57It's kind of like a no-brainer, isn't it?
36:59People are going to buy hot dogs round about lunchtime.
37:02Yes.
37:03Charles's sub-team, tell me about the T-shirts.
37:06I hear that you came up with a name.
37:08How long will that take you?
37:09Two minutes?
37:09It took us...
37:10It took us...
37:11Lord Sugar, it took us about an hour and a half.
37:13From what I've understood from Karen, you actually didn't even go back and get them and didn't sell any at all.
37:18I didn't have time, Lord Sugar.
37:19Are you telling me that £500 worth of T-shirts are still at the printers?
37:25Correct.
37:27All right.
37:28Ladies, I've been told your team name, Decadence, is that right?
37:33It is an odd name to choose, bearing in mind it combines decay, decline, even moral turpitude with loads of self-indulgence.
37:45How are they the qualities, I would have thought, that you would wish to find in your next business partner?
37:51It wasn't just my idea, by the way.
37:53The reason why I actually suggested the name, because I was more or less playing with the word decade,
37:58and I actually did say to the girls that I'm not 100% sure on the definition.
38:02I think you might want to have a rethink.
38:04So I'll tell you what to do, not now, but go away and have a think about it, come up with another name,
38:10and make sure that it has some logical meaning.
38:13So, Sarah, you were the project manager.
38:16What did you decide?
38:18Well, in terms of trying to brainstorm, in terms of how we're going to sell the products,
38:21that's what we spent the majority of the time doing, and we spoke about how...
38:25Did you have a brainstorm?
38:26No, it was a disaster.
38:28I heard a very detailed explanation from Felipe here.
38:32He went through all of the skills of each individual person,
38:36and I think they all agreed that he chose the right people.
38:38Well, I think I just kind of gauged each personality individually anyway before that.
38:42Oh, really?
38:43Well, I could see the strong personalities.
38:44What did you all think of that initially?
38:46I did say to her to split the salespeople in two teams, and she just wasn't having it.
38:50She said, no, I've made my decision. We're going half.
38:52Physically, the half way you were sitting?
38:54Physically, right down the middle.
38:55Well, because they were talking, you know, one half of the table...
38:58Can I just say, there is no strategy. There is no strategic thinking.
39:02All right.
39:04Let's talk about the teams, what they went off to sell.
39:08So, as project manager, I decided that each person was going to have a task.
39:12Can I just finish this bit? Sorry, because everyone...
39:14Because I was a project manager, that was my duty.
39:16I said to...
39:18Sorry.
39:22Your employees, yes?
39:23Yeah.
39:24Gemma and Bianca were going to put the bouquets together and sell the flowers.
39:29Roshim, where did your team run off to?
39:32We had agreed initially that we were going to do the T-shirts as our added value item,
39:36and we were going to go to the printers.
39:38From what I can understand from Nick, you get there and you go,
39:40oh, I ain't got enough money.
39:43Yeah.
39:44You're an accountant, right?
39:45I am an accountant, yeah.
39:45So the first thing you need to think of is, am I leaving the house here without my trousers on?
39:49No.
39:50Oh, I need some money.
39:52Here's the greatest bit of business.
39:53You spent £150 with the printing man.
39:57And in the end, you sold him the lot for £50.
40:01Yeah.
40:01£60, actually.
40:02Oh, sorry about that.
40:04£60.
40:04£60 of your own money.
40:06We left that brainstorming session with, to be honest, at a loss of what we were doing.
40:11Bearing in mind it was the first task.
40:13I mean, how do you think project management was?
40:15I mean, be honest.
40:16Non-existent.
40:17Not very good.
40:17It's disappointing.
40:19All right, well, look, I think it's about time that we get to hear about the actual sales figures.
40:24Karen.
40:30Well, Felipe and his sub-team made £356.70 worth of sales.
40:38And Charles and his sub-team, £340, making a total of £696.70.
40:45OK.
40:45Fine.
40:48Nick, how about you?
40:50Well, Jean's sub-team pulled in just at £312.00.
40:55Hmm.
40:55And when that's added to the other team, Sarah's team, they're £441.50.
41:02He gives a total of £753.50.
41:05Oh, well, thank you.
41:07Right.
41:09That's about a £50 difference, isn't it?
41:12The T-shirts, they cost you dearly.
41:15Anyway, ladies, look, ten years ago, the very first treat was on the London Eye.
41:21So I'm going to send you back to the London Eye.
41:23But this time, I've laid on the VIP capsule.
41:27So, OK, off you go.
41:28Thank you, sir.
41:29I'll see you on the next task.
41:30Yeah.
41:33Oh, my God!
41:38Oh, my God!
41:43Well, gentlemen, I'm going to send you off now, and we'll discuss it in far more detail.
41:49OK?
41:50Off you go.
41:50Oh, wow, this is lovely, isn't it?
42:01Wow.
42:01It's gorgeous.
42:03I really can get used to this.
42:04This is what success feels like, though.
42:05Absolutely.
42:06On the line, on the line, on the line.
42:10Big Ben.
42:11House of Parliament.
42:13So that's Buckingham Palace straight ahead, is it?
42:16So, ladies, I think we should toast to winning the first task.
42:20Come on, girls.
42:21Let's learn from our mistakes.
42:22Teamwork makes the dream work.
42:24Yeah.
42:25Onward and upwards.
42:26Onward and upwards.
42:28Yes.
42:28Yes.
42:29Yes.
42:29Yes.
42:30Yes.
42:30We should do so.
42:31Yes.
42:32Yes.
42:32Yes.
42:33Yes.
42:34Yes.
42:35Yes.
42:36Yes.
42:36Yes.
42:37One.
42:37Yes.
42:38Yes.
42:39Yes.
42:39Yes.
42:39It was a Yankee, man.
42:40Yes.
42:40Yes.
42:41Yes.
42:41Yes.
42:42Yes.
42:42Yes.
42:42Yes.
42:42Yes.
42:43It was mine.
42:43Yes.
42:43It was good.
42:44Yes.
42:45Yes.
42:45Yes.
42:46Well, you guys, sir.
42:46He was negative against everything. He was holding his back. He was dragging us down
42:50I said you need to instruct the driver to turn the car around so we can collect the t-shirts
42:55We were on our way to two appointments. I'm still speaking two appointments. I'm still speaking. I'm the most credible candidate in this process
43:01I don't feel that I should be brought back into the boardroom. This is not a competition between the ten of us
43:05It is a team. Why not to help us? The reason the team lost the task down to the t-shirts plain and simple
43:11Everyone's going for Steven
43:13Turned into a bit of a witch hunt in the end
43:15Since I'm under fire here. I should speak with Felipe brings me back to the boardroom. That's fine. I'm gonna fight my corner
43:37Yes, or trigger send the candidates in place you can go through to the boardroom now
43:45Well Felipe you want to summarize the reasons for the loss certainly no sugar we had a team
44:09That Charles was managing which had a very disruptive character. Who was that? Steven
44:15You you you're saying that Steven was disruptive and that's one of the reasons for the failure of the task?
44:22I believe that it is the main reason the main reason yes, that is
44:27Can you let me finish? I will listen to you. That is not true every single thing
44:30I've done throughout the task was for the best interest of the team with regards to the t-shirts
44:35I said that these t-shirts are high markup if we priced seven pounds per t-shirt and told even ten of them
44:39We would have beat the girls. That's seventy pounds. What did you sell this Steven? No, no, no, no
44:42Excuse me. Felipe stop. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. This is a good point he's raised and I want to get to the bottom of this
44:47Okay, there are two killer items in this package of stuff that I gave you one was the sausages
44:54Plenty of money you could make on those the other was the t-shirt the first thing
44:58Somebody should have done all of you should have done is to said right there's the money or sugar there's a point in which
45:04We were driving in the car and I was saying that I have my concerns, please let me speak
45:08I said child you need to instruct the driver to turn around and we need to get those t-shirts and you said to me steven no now
45:15Philippe's opening gambit here now is is that he places part of the failure on this task on steven
45:22That's correct. I should go so not on t-shirts not on the fact you didn't sell enough hot dogs
45:26You're blaming it on steven what I hear from that group as well
45:29Is that all the time they were arguing between themselves and because steven did not want to do what they wanted this
45:35I spoke might well be in child's interest to palm the blame off of somebody else
45:40Let me make you very clear
45:40That's a scapegoat
45:42I'm being scapegoated
45:44I had four very strong characters in my team out of the four of them had one that was constantly
45:49Giving me feedback saying that we cost us a test though. No, it didn't talk. I'd never said it did of course
45:53It's always handy to have a scapegoat isn't it child's hmm
45:58Now the other item is
46:00The hot dogs perhaps you'd like to explain to me what went wrong there
46:05I wanted to add as much value as possible to these sausages
46:09One second let me explain to you first of all I gave you sausages the mere fact you put them in a bread roll
46:15You added value why you went off to this fancy place and bought all this guacamole is and all that other crap
46:22He was going to put on them. I have no idea
46:24But a lot of those sales were with the additional extras the cheese
46:27I
46:29Would not have sold any less if you'd have kept the plain ones and the hand you would have sold a lot more
46:36I think you would have sold a lot more because you lost an hour and a half of selling time
46:40Scott can you tell me?
46:43What you were doing on this task because i've had some reports back that never mind the the bleeding wolf of wall street
46:50You were more like the bloody poodle of petticoat lane. What would you doing?
46:53Obviously we're out on the street and i was selling hot dogs
46:56Let's deal in the facts you were the worst salesman other than felipe
46:59But he said he wasn't a salesman and he was organizing the hot dogs
47:03I mean i was put into these uh situations going out
47:06Was you ducking it and was you hiding i wasn't hiding at all
47:09Were you trying to be ultra shrewd and let everybody else fall on their swords and all that
47:13Not at all lord sugar i was attracting people into the market that was kind of non-existent
47:16At one point the footfall was very very short i was out in the
47:19But what are you doing you're saying that you you're actually creating most of the sales or what are you actually saying
47:24I'm just saying i contributed to the sales lord sugar
47:26I've got numbers knocked down to the individuals that sold i mean daniel quite clearly looked like he sold a lot of stuff
47:32Daniel what is your opinion about who is responsible for the failure of this task
47:38I i don't want to dig anyone out but it has to be stephen
47:42It does yeah yeah
47:43Do not say i'm responsible for the failure of this task
47:45Well that's because this is this is i'm very concerned do not say do not put the blame on me like that inappropriately lord sugar i never gave up
47:54He is an irritant there's no question of it right
47:58But there's not really a reason for placing blame on a person like that
48:02Exactly he i'm
48:04Stephen may i respectfully say to you shut up because you know what you're your own worst enemy
48:11Now talk facts who's responsible for the failure of this task lord sugar quite the reason for the failure of the task is for two reasons
48:18Firstly the hot dogs and secondly the t-shirts had we even even sold 30 of those t-shirts for the price of three pounds each
48:25We would have gotten much more than the girls t-shirts and hot dogs t-shirts and hot dogs first lesson
48:29First lesson is you could have answered me t-shirts and hot dogs yeah t-shirts and hot dogs
48:33Okay i don't want to hear i don't want to hear the rest of uh the magna carta from you okay i will
48:38Now felipe you can talk to your blue in the face about pointing fingers at an individual being disruptive or not
48:45But if a person is brought into this ballroom for the wrong reasons i will frown upon that okay
48:58i'm going to bring charles and robert
49:04gentlemen go back to the house a shambles basically you three people i'll i'll call you back in here shortly all right
49:15um
49:24felipe was the project manager it seems to me he didn't manage
49:28okay he's not a salesman but fine a good manager will be on to his people
49:34i mean this robert is a little bit of an arty farty type of person i think he just went over the top dressing up hot dogs
49:41the thing about charles he didn't sell anything at all didn't contribute one pound in sales the t-shirt
49:48fiasco to actually leave them there and do nothing about it is a total travesty
49:55could you send the three of them in place yes lord sugar lord sugar will see you now
50:12okay felipe can you tell me why you bought robert back it robert was very enthusiastic about the
50:18hot dogs we went to shoreditch which is a very edgy area let me finish we went to shoreditch which is a
50:23very edgy area and we needed an edgy product to sell we agreed as a team to create gourmet hot dogs
50:30that were exciting creative and very shortage i'm not interested in all this shoreditch yuppie arty
50:36farty bollocks right okay the point i am making is that somebody decided they wanted to add all these
50:43bits and pieces onto a product because that was the added value side of things when did that happen
50:49that was in the brainstorm that was in the brainstorm that was in the brainstorm i was
50:54delegated in the brainstorm to go and get additional ingredients i was delegated that
50:59responsibility robert we already had a product that we could sell as hot dogs but why did you
51:02delegate if you thought about that if you told me that you knew that that would sell you told me we
51:08we agreed as a team but you told me that you could do added value on the hot dogs philippe philippe
51:13philippe philippe you admitted you are not a salesperson but you think you have good managerial
51:18skills okay do you believe bearing in mind the disaster on the on the hot dogs and the disaster
51:26on the t-shirts that you were a good manager i think i was an excellent manager really but why
51:31you didn't try to be quiet sorry lord sugar this is the first task that we do in this process we're
51:36learning about the strengths and weaknesses of the persons all my team members agreed that i
51:41was a very good manager when we asked them the first time charles i've got your cv here your own
51:46two businesses you've been a marketing manager sales manager you believe that team management
51:52is one of your best skills you boast that you had a team of 200 people that's that's correct
51:57lord sugar you had a team of four i managed my team i asked you manage stephen did you i did manage
52:04stephen actually i think the t-shirts were the one mistake i made absolutely we know the t-shirts
52:08were the highest item every single call that we had and and you know this i told you i don't want
52:13to get the t-shirts back you need to sell them when i called you and i said i've got two options and i
52:18called you on this and i said would you like us to go to the appointment for the potatoes and then
52:22onto the t-shirts which we might not be able to get back for the t-shirts weren't ready the t-shirts
52:26weren't ready no they were ready philippe philippe if i've got to point the finger at somebody who's
52:31responsible i have to say that child's responsible for the failure he had the highest value item
52:35it cost us not selling that product so why should bring him back in here then because he should
52:40never have told me to buy the ingredients because we lost at least an hour i didn't tell you to buy
52:43the ingredients we discussed it you agreed it was your idea i was overlooking the whole strategy philippe
52:49you made some initial decisions and i followed you and supported you okay listen gentlemen gentlemen
52:55i am fed up discussing t-shirts and hot dogs
53:05philippe you said you're not a salesperson i accept that okay my concern is the managerial skills
53:14and for that reason one could argue the responsibility for the failure of this task lays firmly with you
53:21as far as you're concerned robert to try and dress up those simple hot dogs was an error and we lost
53:30lots and lots of time and you guided him that way he gave you the trust it was a big error and then
53:38charles one of the reasons i allowed you in this process is because i think here's a man who's actually
53:44been there started at the bottom built up his own businesses type of stuff and i left i don't want to
53:49hear any more from you and fundamental business errors in the t-shirt thing is unforgivable because
53:59clearly whatever you sold those t-shirts for you most probably would have won this task
54:05but philippe it's regretful that i have to say that somebody as qualified as you a lawyer who claimed to
54:17have managerial skills has allowed this to happen it is tough on the first task
54:29what frustrates me is the hot dogs and we threw it away but what frustrates me even more is that
54:40those t-shirts are still sitting at the printer and on that basis charles you're fired thank you
54:49not sure
55:05now i told you to that i have the flexibility of removing more than one person
55:11i have him responsible for the t-shirts i think the responsibility for the hot dogs needs to be
55:21shared between the pair of you him for his arty farty ideas which you've never gone with
55:27and you for agreeing with it will happen again sugar no no it won't happen again that's for sure
55:37i don't want to hear from you anymore
55:41i'm going to give you both the benefit of the doubt this is the first task okay
55:51go back to the house i'll see you on the next task take this as a warning thank you
56:03simply the benefit of the doubt we've got some interesting tasks coming along and we will see
56:07uh whether robert with all his creative ideas and this that and the other shines through because if
56:13he doesn't there'd be no question of a doubt that he'll be leaving pretty quickly
56:19i'm gutted that i've been fired i think i stand by the decisions i made lord sugar give me a little
56:33bit more time it has seen the potential of running a successful business with me
56:39the main concern that lord sugar had is why the team did not sell the t-shirts that's like leaving
56:45money on the on the floor who do you think deserves to come back charles who do you reckon deserves
56:52to go i hate to say but maybe felipe i think you know what robert was a complete passenger on that
56:58task i don't care what you say the thing is i mean can you please stop and let me finish my sentence
57:04especially
57:18are you the only one back yes or no
57:20it's the most horrible experience that you will ever experience in your life let's just say
57:39it's dog eats dog from here on in
57:41now 19 candidates remain lord sugar's search for his next business partner has begun
57:54next time your task is all about producing a piece of wearable technology power struggles
58:02you're all talking over each other right dan's shouting at me james is shouting at me you're
58:05shouting at me what do you want me to do we needed to know that that was fundamental crossed wires
58:10why can't we just work with what we have hold on hold on hold on let me finish and in the boardroom
