We extend our sincere appreciation to PTV for the coverage of the IOC International Press Freedom Awards segment during the Icons of Change International Awards 2025.
At its core, this moment goes beyond recognition—it reinforces the essential role of media as a pillar of democratic societies and sustainable development. A free, responsible, and independent press enables informed citizenship, protects human rights, and ensures accountability across institutions. It is through credible journalism that truth is amplified, marginalized voices are heard, and public discourse is anchored in facts rather than noise.
In an era shaped by digital disruption, misinformation, and shrinking civic space, media professionals are no longer just storytellers—they are guardians of transparency, stewards of public trust, and architects of social resilience. Upholding press freedom is inseparable from advancing peace, justice, and strong institutions. When journalists operate without fear or undue influence, societies are better equipped to address inequality, corruption, climate risk, and systemic injustice.
The Icons of Change Movement recognizes media not merely as an observer of change, but as an active driver of it—championing ethical storytelling, editorial independence, media literacy, and the responsible use of emerging technologies. From investigative reporting and public service broadcasting to digital innovation and community-based journalism, these efforts align directly with the global pursuit of sustainable development and inclusive progress.
We remain committed to standing alongside media practitioners and institutions that elevate truth, defend freedom of expression, and strengthen the social fabric through principled reporting. A resilient future depends on a press that is free, fair, and fearless—and on audiences who value integrity over virality.
Thank you for helping amplify narratives that matter, and for advancing a media ecosystem that serves the public good and the global movement for change.

01:57Icons of Change Singapore President Martin Ong also has a message to this year's changemakers.
02:02True change does not begin at the grand stage of the world.
02:08It starts in the heart of a person who dares to believe.
02:12You are that person.
02:14Each of you carries a spark of purpose, and when visions and faith comes together, it becomes a theme that lights the path of others.
02:23Let's remember, transformation is not just about impact.
02:27It is about influence through integrity.
02:31Let us lead by love, serve with humility, and stand firm in our calling to be salt and light in the world.
02:39The Icons of Change Movement recognizes exceptional individuals and institutions who are driving meaningful change in their communities, regardless of their age, profession, or race.
