00:00Hello everyone, my name is Frank DeMyth and I'm an author and a veteran.
00:07I was informed earlier this week that I had been named as a recipient of the Icon of Change Award.
00:14I must say that I'm honored, surprised, and proud to be receiving such a prestigious award.
00:23While in the military, I worked on a team that developed a program that recruited immigrants who had specific language and cultural skills in an effort to support the troops that were deployed overseas.
00:41We recruited over 1,500 individuals who eventually went off to serve with units to help them with a bridge to the local individuals with language and cultural awareness.
00:58My books were written to highlight the contributions made by those immigrants in the global war on terrorism,
01:07and to raise awareness of the physical and mental costs of war in hopes that increased public awareness might someday lead to better care for those who fought in the global war on terrorism.
01:21I'm especially honored that I'm receiving this award in a year for peace and trust.
01:31It might be odd to think that a military person would be receiving such an award, but frankly, it's the military people who have saw and experienced the ravages of war who are most inclined to pray and hope for peace.
01:49Thank you very much.
01:51Thank you very much.
01:52I'm very proud to be receiving this award, and I wish everyone all the best.
