00:00I didn't want to post this yesterday on social media.
00:03What does that mean, Kenny?
00:04I watched this press conference, what, cheese up?
00:06Cheese it up to me early.
00:08We're getting his good graces.
00:11That's what I'm guessing.
00:12Let's not say ass-kissing.
00:14I mean, that's what it is, right?
00:16I think that was a great move.
00:18All right, Todd Munkin was the head coach of the Bengals
00:20and Shador was a quarterback for the Bengals.
00:21I'd say it's ass-kissing, yeah.
00:23I mean, Todd identified it immediately.
00:25He knew exactly what he was doing.
00:26It's the Browns, so I'm not going to say that.
00:27But there is a level of, like, you know, not that you have to do that,
00:31but he's the coach, and he sees that it's a respect type of thing.
00:35I thought that this is one of the things, if you read it the wrong way,
00:37I could be taking it as a shot at the Browns and a shot at Todd Munkin.
00:41So let me say this.
00:42I'm enjoying the honeymoon period with Todd Munkin,
00:45and I'm going to enjoy it as long as I possibly can.
00:48Because the guys in the afternoon they were talking about,
00:49like Nick is all in on Todd Munkin, I think partially
00:53because his name isn't Kevin Stefanski, but he's all in on Todd Munkin,
00:56and Jonathan's like, yeah, you know, I like him too,
00:59but I got to see him coach a game.
01:01I got to see how the game starts.
01:02I'm going, you know what?
01:03No, I'm going to take the honeymoon,
01:06and we're going to make this last as long as we can.
01:08This is going to be one of them old-style honeymoons
01:09that rich people used to do where it's like one month.
01:12You're on a steamship for one month out there.
01:15Like, that's how I want to be with Todd Munkin right now.
01:18Because eventually, with the words of Coach Sam,
01:22you're going to dip him in hot water, and then we're going to find out.
01:25And I told you, I got to judge them differently.
01:29It's not the results, just the results to me.
01:33It's going to be the quality of the football.
01:34Again, if there's a bunch of pre-snap penalties,
01:37if I'm just looking at something that I think looks stupid,
01:41just dumb things that happen, and they continue to happen,
01:45and you don't fix them, then, yeah, we're going to have problems.
01:48And I'm going to have to go away from the smile that I have about Todd Munkin.
01:53But I love the way he talks, and it's refreshing.
01:56After six years of non-answers, like Kevin,
01:58and I know we got more answers with him off the air than on,
02:01and that was part of the frustration that he didn't give us anything,
02:04and I knew he could give more, and he wouldn't do it.
02:06And I thought that it was a bad thing for the fans when things weren't going well.
02:10Todd Munkin's going to give you exactly what he thinks, and that's enjoyable.
02:13He also said a little more about Shador Sanders.
02:18This is Todd Munkin yesterday during his media availability,
02:20talking about Shador having a good day in the group of players
02:23that he played with yesterday in front of the media.
02:26It's a piece of the practice.
02:28I think Isaiah Bond has come on the last week and a half as a player.
02:33He's still a developmental player.
02:35Shador's really come on.
02:36I thought he had a really good day today.
02:38I thought Deshaun had a good day today.
02:39And so I thought both of those guys continue to compete.
02:42And you saw today we've been alternating those guys.
02:44You're just not out here every day to see it.
02:47It just happened the day you were out here,
02:48and Shador got a lot of the work with the ones.
02:51When you had – I understand what he's trying to do –
02:54but when you had Miles on this team last week,
03:00it was, hey, you got veterans on that team.
03:02You're going to play the – you're probably going to play the veteran.
03:04I know you still have veterans on the team, Anthony,
03:06but I think the conversation has changed a bit
03:10of what this season's going to be about for this team.
03:13Because when they get Jared Versen,
03:15like I think we've got to figure out exactly what this year is going to be.
03:18Jared Versen, like at first I go, man, this is such a blow.
03:21I go, three wins.
03:23You know, what could it be?
03:25Somebody accused me of saying one win.
03:26I didn't say one win.
03:29I thought it could be three wins, something like that.
03:31I thought it was going to be bad.
03:32I go, no, you know, Jared Versen is a really good player.
03:35You know, Miles Garrett I know won a game just by walking out there
03:37on the field last year against Pittsburgh.
03:40All right, that's last year.
03:41Is it a five-win team still possibly?
03:44Well, the offense has to be better because they can't be any worse.
03:47Miles Garrett doesn't affect the offense as much.
03:49In the trade, I know that there's other things that –
03:51but he doesn't affect the offense like that.
03:55You've got better wide receivers.
03:57You should.
03:57I mean, before they were garbage before.
04:00So you should have better offensive line play.
04:02You should.
04:03They should be able to mix together.
04:05There's a lot of things that should happen.
04:06So if they should happen, maybe their record should be a little bit better.
04:09But now I've got to mix that, Anthony, with what do I want to do at the QB position?
04:14Because I think a lot of fans kind of turned right around over the last couple of days
04:17and go, well, if we're not going to have Miles,
04:18then I know a lot of us started to be resigned to the thought
04:21that Deshaun Watson was going to start.
04:23But if we're not going to have Miles now and this is kind of getting ready for 2027,
04:27you might as well see what the young man has talking about Shador.
04:30Well, that was my thought regardless of whether they traded Miles.
04:34And it's funny.
04:36Vegas, what did they – did they move the win total a half a game or one full game?
04:40Like, Vegas isn't really changing their minds on the Browns at all.
04:43No, they're not.
04:43So is that something that we're just making up as Browns fans?
04:47Like –
04:47The initial blow, yes.
04:48Outside of Cleveland, they thought you were going to be bad anyway.
04:50Anyway, so here you're saying, well, this changes everything.
04:54And what I'm saying is, I don't know if it does.
04:56Like –
04:56Well, before I said seven wins.
04:58Well, seven wins, you're not bragging about anything.
05:00So were there – I know – were there people like on our station saying 10, 11 wins?
05:04Did Jonathan actually say that or was he just wondering?
05:06Peter Lynn is now – he says there's – he thinks we're getting carried away
05:11was saying what he had said in the afternoon.
05:14He says he never said 11 wins.
05:16He says he has a burger bet instead that they're going to lose a bunch of games.
05:20So I don't know exactly where Peter Lynn is.
05:22All right.
05:23Can we just say – can we record these things?
05:25Money or burgers?
05:26Yeah, I don't know.
05:26They make a lot of burger bets.
05:27I'm sick and tired – and there's probably me included.
05:29You say something, you stand by it until you change it officially.
05:32So what the hell are win totals right off the top of the head?
05:35Because I'm sick and tired – well, they didn't use me in context.
05:38We didn't use him in kind – I don't give a damn.
05:40So I'm saying right now, I'm saying six wins.
05:43That's what I'm going to say.
05:44All right.
05:44You said four or five.
05:45Is that really off the mark of what it was for Miles?
05:48No.
05:49I didn't really change.
05:50Then if you actually don't think it's much and I don't think it's much,
05:55then does that still mean a feather in the cap for Deshaun?
05:58Because they're going to think that they can win more than what the pundits,
06:01you and I, think that they're going to win.
06:04So wouldn't that be more in Deshaun's category because he's a veteran?
06:07Because I'm looking at it going, well, you just bit the head off the snake there.
06:10You might as well see what the kid has before we go and roll up our sleeves
06:14and get into the 2027 draft class here.
06:16Yeah.
06:17Well, it's interesting because yesterday Shador had a better –
06:22by all accounts had a better day than Deshaun.
06:25Most of the other days have been, by most accounts, better than Shador.
06:29But then it was interesting that they trade Miles Garrett
06:31and now Shador gets most of the reps.
06:33And I know Todd tried to downplay it.
06:35But it's all we have to speculate on.
06:37We have no idea what they're actually working on.
06:39Like I saw a really, really bad interception that Watson threw.
06:44Conversely, there was a beautiful touchdown throw to Isaiah Bond that was awesome.
06:48And then in both the comment sections, people are debating the mechanics of the throws.
06:53This actually wasn't as good as a throw.
06:55I'm like, it looked like a dime to me.
06:57Oh, no, he underthrew him.
06:58What?
06:58I can't believe we're sitting here breaking down throws.
07:02It's now June.
07:02I was saying until May.
07:03Now it's actually June.
07:05And then I saw a bunch of people who –
07:07I can't believe Deshaun Watson still has a camp of fandom after all these bad years.
07:12If you're talking about the internet,
07:14there are people who are so annoyed with Shador fans that they've –
07:17they don't want him to start and they will latch on to Deshaun Watson.
07:20Well, be that as it may, I saw people say,
07:22well, Segura said they flagged it for pass interference.
07:24And guys don't throw the ball away in seven-on-seven.
07:26It's like, you guys are going to lose your mind.
07:27Yeah, that's why you've got to get away from that Twitter, man.
07:30If you are debating this stuff and every rep to this degree,
07:34you're not going to survive actual preseason.
07:37No, you're not.
07:38No, you're not.
07:39When you get the smallest of small sample sizes
07:42and then the national guys jump in and that's all they know.
07:46There's two things here.
07:47In the real world – in our world, because Miles is traded,
07:52in the fans' world, because Miles is traded, we're the same world.
07:55Who do you think people want to see more?
07:57Do they want to see Segura or do they want to see Deshaun Watson?
07:59I thought Segura.
08:01Because in the real world – and I would think Segura as well.
08:04I don't think that the internet is real.
08:05I'd like to ask the fans, 216-474-0092.
08:09Because Miles is gone, do you believe that Segura should be the starter?
08:14Because I'll say that, and I think that a lot of people will say Segura,
08:19but I think in the real world, in their world, which is the real world,
08:22in the locker room, I don't think Miles being here or not being here matters.
08:26I don't think it matters at all.
08:27They got Jared Verse back.
08:29He's a young player.
08:31He's 25.
08:33He's – he's not Miles.
08:34I know, quote it, say it, put it on the wall.
08:37But he's also a young, up-and-coming pass rusher who I'm looking to get 10 sacks
08:42for my football team this year and be one of the better ones in the division
08:46and be one of the names up there with some of the big names that are in this division here
08:49because they're still good pass rushers in this division.
08:52If that were the way it is, then in real life for them, for Todd Munkin,
08:57it doesn't matter if Miles Garrett is here or not,
08:59which isn't great for the Segura fans because you're still trying to win,
09:04which means who do you usually go with then?
09:06You have a fifth-round guy.
09:07If he's not showing it, then you're going to go with the veteran.
09:10That's exactly what you're going to do.
09:11It's not good for some of the other guys that are in that room
09:13when you heard that Todd Munkin said we have two starting quarterbacks,
09:16starting quality quarterbacks on this roster, which I admit I felt bad.
09:20I got Dylan Gabriel walking around in No. 8.
09:22Jared Vers is already wearing No. 8.
09:24It's like, for his own good and for our own good,
09:27get a seventh-round pick and let's move on.
09:29And good luck to the young man.
09:30I'm serious.
09:31I'm not trying to beat up on him.
09:33I'm not trying to be mean, demeaning, or whatever.
09:34This is not the right time.
09:36This is not the right place.
09:37Get whatever you can in value and move on
09:39and let's everybody move on in a different direction there
09:42because I think it's sad and I think it's almost mean to Dylan Gabriel.
09:46He didn't ask for this.
09:47I don't want to use him as some sort of an arguing point.
09:51Let's just move on from each other on that case.
09:53But I do want to know.
09:54In people's eyes, in a fan's eyes,
09:56because we're always thinking big picture.
09:58I think a lot of fans, yeah, they want to be surprised,
10:01but I think a lot of fans are sitting there thinking
10:03probably five to seven wins, somewhere in there.
10:05Still, five to seven wins.
10:06But if there's no miles, does that mean you want to see Shador?
10:11So I want to know.
10:12The dust is settled.
10:12I think a lot of people wants to know, too.
10:14Because in their world, in the locker room, I don't think it matters.
10:17I don't.
10:18My first reaction was visceral, was emotional about Miles Garrett being traded.
10:26Now that the smoke has cleared, we've heard Miles over there in Los Angeles.
10:30We've heard Jared Verse here in Cleveland.
10:32A lot of things.
10:34Again, I'm going to have to harp on not just play, but also some leadership.
10:38And maybe he can make up.
10:40Like, if he gets 10 sacks this year and Miles Garrett gets 17 sacks this year,
10:43can you make up for it?
10:44And setting a tone and setting a culture in the locker room, I think you can.
10:47Because I still don't think you're going to win a whole bunch of games this year.
10:50You're not a playoff football team.
10:51There's a lot of things that you need to get in a row.
10:54But if Jared Verse helps set a tone and helps set a culture
10:57with some of the other younger guys, I think that might be a very good thing.
11:00Because I noticed some things that were said yesterday
11:02that I didn't notice until Keith told me.
11:04And we'll play that coming up a little bit.
11:05Go ahead.
11:05Well, I wanted to ask about that because I remember not necessarily fighting
11:11with the fans, the callers, the listeners.
11:13Uh-huh.
11:14Those engaged with us on social media.
11:16Yeah.
11:16But a lot of people, every step of the way, who cares what Miles shows up to?
11:21Who cares how he is in the locker room?
11:23He fought with me.
11:24Who cares if he gets along with the coach?
11:25He walks out there and he gets 17 sacks.
11:28Who cares?
11:30Okay, are those same people saying that now?
11:33Because I saw a lot of reaction yesterday like,
11:36oh my God, this guy's going to be a leader.
11:37Verse is going to be a leader.
11:39Look how hungry he is.
11:40You're getting our true opinions.
11:41This is what you're getting.
11:43Like, I don't think anybody was comfortable in having to look the other way.
11:47Again, not a bad guy.
11:49But nobody was comfortable because you grew up in it.
11:53You grew up, a lot of guys listening to this played high school sports,
11:57high school football especially, it's Northeast Ohio.
11:59You are ingrained if you're a four-year high school football player.
12:03Team, family, all that stuff.
12:06You're holding people accountable.
12:07Hold the rope, the stuff that's written on the t-shirts that the Father's Club sells
12:11to raise money.
12:12Like, that's, it's part of what it is.
12:14And so a lot of us, after high school, that's what we remember.
12:18And so when you see this guy who's that good, like not buying in,
12:22like you remember in 1996 if you played for, if you played for Mansfield Senior
12:28or whatever, if you played for Mayfield, like you held guys accountable for that
12:32if you were a senior or you were a team captain.
12:35And you don't, you can't do that with him because he's that good.
12:38So now if he's not going to be here, hey, we don't have to do this facade thing
12:41anymore.
12:42I don't have to sit there and look the other way anymore because he is that good.
12:45Now I'm hoping to get some of that from Jared Verse.
12:48All right, that's beside the point though.
12:50Cause again, there's some interesting audio coming up at seven 20.
12:53I didn't even notice.
12:54And I'd love to rip on our boss.
12:55I think our boss might've had a point here.
12:57However, for fans, I think you need to make a decision.
13:00I think it resets the conversation about who the quarterback is.
13:03Cause yesterday we saw Shador Sanders play with the ones.
13:06Now I'm sure it was just part of the plan, but what it does is it does get our
13:11minds racing on.
13:12Wait a minute.
13:12Maybe this, this isn't as closed as we thought it was.
13:15Maybe because there's a new defensive end, the other guy got traded.
13:19That now maybe this opens up this conversation in the real world and their
13:24locker room.
13:24I don't think it matters.
13:25I don't, but I want to know to the fans, does it matter?
13:29Is it because he's no longer here?
13:32Should they just, should they just play Shador Sanders this year and see what
13:37they have?
13:37Because you don't do this for more defensive ends.
13:40You do this for a quarterback.
13:42That's what you do.
13:43Wasn't that the case though?
13:43Beforehand, if you would have polled the Cleveland fans, wouldn't they have come
13:49out by a big majority?
13:51And wanted to say Shador, but I think that's different.
13:53They wanted to just move on from Deshaun Watson.
13:56And I think a lot of people, when you have that many people telling you that Deshaun
14:01Watson's the leader in the clubhouse, you can't help, but just assume that he's the
14:05leader.
14:06How many different people lined up on this station and, and throughout the media, different
14:11pundits everywhere saying that he was the leader.
14:14Umpteen.
14:14I mean, the amount was numerous.
14:17We had the list of guys that we wanted to pay attention to about the quarterback position
14:21or not.
14:22Now I think you have a reset in the conversation because of the miles Garrett trade, because
14:26I think a lot of people were just resigning themselves to the thought that, that Deshaun
14:29Watson was going to be the starter.
14:31And that may very well be true because we're living in different worlds, but I want to know
14:34to the fans is that, does it change your mind going on?
14:36Wait a damn minute here.
14:37Maybe I would have been willing to accept, but if we're not going to go anywhere, why
14:39the hell am I watching this guy?
14:41That just reminds me of all the bad football that we played over the last how many years,
14:44but it's this run the risk of upsetting the apple cart when it comes to fan and coach.
14:50If Todd Munkin, regardless of whether miles was there or not, Todd Munkin was always going
14:55to want to start the guy that he thought could win games quicker.
14:58Yes.
14:58Right.
14:59And now hopefully, I don't know how you feel about this.
15:02Hopefully you don't have a coach that's going to be compromised by like pressure from the
15:05front office or anything like that.
15:07You want a coach to just, especially an experienced coach, somebody who's in his sixties, tough
15:12talking Todd Munkin.
15:14You want him to be able to make up his own mind on who he thinks is going to actually
15:18help the team win games.
15:19Of course.
15:20So are you worried that there might be a disconnect between if the fans want Shador, but Todd Munkin
15:25is identifying who he thinks can win.
15:29And he says, Sean Watson, I think Sean Watson can help me win games before Shador can.
15:33I'm going to give Todd Munkin every benefit of the doubt because he's the head coach of
15:36the football team.
15:37But you sound like you've been frustrated if it's not going to be Shador.
15:40Absolutely.
15:40Absolutely.
15:41I'll be frustrated.
15:42I will be frustrated because before it was, I wanted to see Shador more than the other guy.
15:47The other guy just brings up bad memories.
15:50Now, I think that we want to make this worth our while.
15:53If we're not going to win a lot of games and a lot of people don't think we will, then
15:57we don't want our time wasted.
15:59What better way to not waste your time?
16:01We have this conversation just about every year because we're looking for a quarterback
16:04every year.
16:05Let's see what we have in this guy and that guy.
16:08Well, this year it's the, let's see what we have in Shador because fans don't want their
16:12time wasted.
16:13Is there a chance though, Todd, who doesn't want his time wasted?
16:15He certainly doesn't.
16:16That's why he lives in the real life.
16:17He has less of it than most fans.
16:18What if he thinks Shador is wasting everybody's time?
16:21Then he's not going to play Shador and we're going to deal with it.
16:24I'm asking the fans.
16:25I'm not asking about what they think Todd should do.
16:27I'm asking what the fans think they should do because I think a lot of fans are thinking
16:30if we're just not going to win a lot of games anyway, why do I want to see the guy
16:33who
16:34just brings up bad memories?
16:35Yeah, I think there are fans who don't care about who the better quarterback is.
16:38They just want to be done with Deshaun Watson.
16:40I think you're right about that.
16:42I totally agree with you about that.
16:43So we're identifying something that's fairly obvious, right?
16:46The coach is not necessarily going to have the same, he's not going to have the same
16:51threshold that fans are going to have.
16:54So what do we do with that information?
16:56What do you mean?
16:56If the coach, his only singular mindset is to play the better guy and the fans don't
17:03necessarily care who the better guy is, they would just want to have the younger guy,
17:07let him make mistakes, whatever.
17:08What do we do with that?
17:09Are fans going to turn on Todd very quickly?
17:12If the other guy goes out, if Deshaun Watson goes out there and plays with any modicum of
17:16success, all will be forgiven.
17:18Because I think a lot of fans will go, hey, let's give the guy a chance.
17:20Let's give Todd Munkin a chance and let's see what, he's the head coach of the football
17:25team.
17:25You like the cut of his jib.
17:27You like the way he talks.
17:28So fine.
17:28But if Deshaun Watson goes out there and plays poorly, like week one, if it doesn't go their
17:32way and he's terrible against the Jaguars, you know what Monday morning is going to
17:35be.
17:35You know exactly what Monday morning is.
17:37What I'm saying is when OTAs are over, if he declares on a depth chart, here it comes
17:41out, Deshaun Watson's number one, is the honeymoon for Todd Munkin already over for a lot of Browns
17:47fans?
17:50It's hard for me to admit this, but I think it is.
17:53Think about that.
17:54How many coaches could that happen in June around the NFL?
17:59Well, how many teams, how many fan bases have a situation like this in the quarterback
18:03room?
18:03Well, there's, there's not too terribly many.
18:06Wait, there's, there's plenty of teams that don't know if they have their quarterback on
18:09their roster.
18:10Yeah.
18:10But not with fan bases like this, not, not with a fan base dropping in because you said
18:14it yourself 20 minutes ago, 30 minutes ago.
18:17Like there are people who are so frustrated with Shador's fans, their Browns fans.
18:22They've turned and they want Deshaun Watson to play to stick it to that fan base.
18:26Like this is a very odd place.
18:28And I think for just regular Browns fans, if you're like, Hey, I'm a Browns fan, I want
18:32them to win, but I don't think they're going to win.
18:34So let's see what we have instead of just dredging up old, bad memories.
18:38That's kind of where I'm at on it.
