00:00Social media reactions are brought to you by Chibin Jewelers, Cleveland's premier jewelry store.
00:05All right, so they got in. They're getting in.
00:08I'm glad they are. 216-474-0092.
00:15Ian Schwifty says, you mean made up stuff that you guys want to rage bait everyone with?
00:19Yep, that tracks. I hope he's right.
00:21I've gotten that all weekend. I don't think it's rage bait, guys.
00:24I don't think people are just texting us because they feel like it.
00:28Well, I just, I mean, you guys, again, I hope you're right, but I'm not a rage baiter.
00:32I don't like being cussed out on social media. That's the whole thing.
00:35I don't sit there and enjoy. I mean, it doesn't bother me like it used to,
00:41but I don't aim for people to get upset and waste their morning.
00:47So that is, sorry, like that ain't going to compute on that one.
00:52Domo says, who is a great listener down in the South,
00:55he says, the Browns are a five-win team with Miles at best.
00:58Without Miles, they're fighting for the number one pick with the Cardinals,
01:01which is, I think, is something that he wants.
01:03Steve says, it would be financial suicide to trade Miles right before asking fans to buy PSLs.
01:08I don't know how many they're buying with Miles, to be honest with you.
01:11I don't know how many.
01:12Like, you have to make the right football decision,
01:15and when they do make, if they do make the decision, I don't know.
01:18Nick Padone in for tone today.
01:21If they do do this, which I want to ask you if you're a proponent of here in a second,
01:25if they do it during the show, I want to see what the return is
01:29before I go ranting and raving and putting my face into a wall.
01:34Like, I want to know what it is.
01:35Because if it's three ones, yeah, I'll be sad that Miles is gone,
01:39but I got three ones out of the deal,
01:41so I got the return back on what I gave up for the Deshaun Watson debacle there.
01:46It's late, I understand that, but I got it.
01:48If I get two ones and two twos, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera,
01:52I'm not going to be that upset.
01:53If it's just like one first rounder next year and then whatever,
01:56because the text I got yesterday was,
02:00it was from somebody on the West Coast.
02:03You name the teams.
02:05There's about two or three.
02:06Oh, there's about three you would actually.
02:08Actually, West Coast football ain't bad.
02:10You would consider any of them.
02:13I think we know where, though.
02:15Okay?
02:15And the other thing is that you're not going to like the hole.
02:18That's what I got.
02:19And I says, okay, thanks a lot.
02:23That's basically all I could say, Nick.
02:25I want to know, though, are you a proponent of this?
02:27Do you want to move on from Miles?
02:29No.
02:30Now, why not?
02:31The path to getting off the mat quickly is with Miles Garrett a part of this thing.
02:36And maybe I'm naive for believing that there's a path to get off the mat quickly.
02:41This is the NFL, though.
02:43You're not supposed to be bad for long.
02:45The Browns have been bad for a really long time.
02:48And, you know, I just thought that if they wanted to retool this thing quickly, and all
02:54their actions proved that they did, they retooled this offensive line with veteran 30-year-olds
02:58that they handed big free agent contracts.
03:01They went out and got Casey Concepcion and Denzel Boston.
03:04They're taking the strides to improve as an offense.
03:08And defensively, they were one of the top units in the league last year.
03:12So I just thought to myself, well, if you want to get off the mat quickly, and you want
03:16to get back into contention, I get that you don't have a surefire solved your quarterback
03:21thing, but Miles is a vehicle to get off the mat quickly.
03:25And if you're just going to say goodbye to him later today, I don't think you're getting
03:30off the mat quickly.
03:31And I think you're accepting your fate as a rebuilding franchise.
03:34Because I'm sitting there saying seven at best.
03:36I think there's a lot of people, and rightfully so.
03:38Like, I'm trying to say it's a step forward, because I just don't know about the quarterback
03:42situation that we have.
03:43Like, Deshaun, I made it clear, I really don't want Deshaun to play, but if he's the best
03:48one that's out there, I will accept the decision of Todd Munkin.
03:51He's the head coach of the football team.
03:52I'll watch like a hawk, but that's where it is.
03:55Everybody knows I'd like Shador to start, because at least it gives me some sort of a
03:58possibility for the future, even though that probably nobody in this quarterback room is
04:03anybody for your future or your football team.
04:05I think that Deshaun Watson can only muddy the water.
04:07All right, that being all put out there, there's people on the station who think they
04:11can win 10, 11 games.
04:12I want to know what they think, especially this afternoon, from it.
04:15So if I'm saying seven wins, it's hard for me to stand out here and puff my chest out
04:20and say, absolutely not, you can't do it.
04:22But if I'm looking at it from a different perspective, yeah, I think you would be upset.
04:26If you think that this team could be a playoff team or a borderline playoff team, that Kevin
04:30Stefanski was the only one standing in the way of this team actually reaching its goals
04:34in 2025 and 2026 or 24 and 25, then I think that you'd be pretty upset about this and hearing
04:40about this at all.
04:41That's how it's been sold.
04:42That's where I, if you think that this is a playoff team or a borderline playoff team,
04:47then hearing any of this is obviously going to upset you.
04:50But if I'm saying seven wins, if I turn right around and I start cussing out the Browns
04:56for if they were to make this move, then I think that it would be pretty hypocritical
05:00of me because I got to think about what's best for the overall health of the franchise.
05:04If you're saying seven wins, I just think that you're doing so much to hurt the culture
05:08that you're trying to build.
05:09So, and it's a difficult thing, it's a difficult needle threat.
05:12Let me say this, Nick, before I get to the phones.
05:142-1-6-4-7-4-0-92.
05:16I've never accused Miles of being a leader, all right?
05:18It's never been a problem with me because I don't think he's been a bad guy.
05:21I know there's speeding tickets out there.
05:23Those are mistakes.
05:25We look at ourselves when it comes to that stuff.
05:27I don't think Miles is a bad guy.
05:29I don't think Miles is bad off the field.
05:30I don't think Miles is particularly a terrible teammate whatsoever.
05:33I don't think he's any of those things.
05:34His teammates, in fact, I mean, you go ask Aiden Huntington, he likes him for obvious reasons.
05:39So, he's been a helpful teammate.
05:41What Miles doesn't do is that, yeah, Miles is not going to stand in there and give every single rah
05:46-rah speech.
05:47Miles sees it from a different perspective.
05:49And because he's the best player on defense in the league, we accept it.
05:53It's perfectly easy to accept.
05:55But I got other guys who I'm trying to cultivate to be that vocal leader, to be that guy that
06:02holds people accountable.
06:03The Carson Sweatingers of the world.
06:05I think Denzel Ward has tried to do his best in the secondary.
06:08There's other guys in the defense and the offense that I'm trying to bring forward and trying to bring along.
06:13Spencer Fano is a guy who I really, really like, who I think could step into a role of leadership
06:17on the offensive line,
06:18especially with all the things moving around.
06:20And maybe it's needed out of him because of the position he was traded or position he was taken for.
06:25If you trade Miles Garrett, I don't want the Carson Sweatingers of the world and the Spencer Fano's and everybody
06:34go,
06:34well, you know, this is what they told me about and this is where we're here and at least we're
06:37getting good paychecks and things like that.
06:39That's what I'm trying to avoid here.
06:41And I think that it could so quickly spin out of control.
06:45And I think that we've seen it so often where this is not the same type of league it was
06:4910 years ago.
06:49So I can't guarantee that I'm going to go out and get you your next franchise quarterback.
06:54And there's going to be a lot of pressure on that young man, whoever it is, after you've traded Miles
06:58Garrett to possibly go out and get that guy.
07:00After you've torpedoed another season to go out there and get that guy.
07:04So there's a lot of pressure on him and I don't think it's the same type of league.
07:07So I do.
07:08I say, listen, if I'm saying it's a seven win season, I can't turn around and say you can't do
07:12this.
07:13It's an abomination.
07:14It's terrible.
07:15It'll affect the fan base in horrific ways that you can't even imagine.
07:19Some of that is true.
07:20But if I'm saying it's a seven win season, what am I giving up?
07:23What am I giving up?
07:24So I got to know what the return is on this.
07:28Yeah, because it feels like you're kind of selling like a bit of your soul as an organization.
07:33Does it not?
07:34You mentioned Swessinger and some of these young guys.
07:37How are you feeling if this news comes public?
07:40What we're hearing privately, Kenny comes public.
07:43How's Mason Graham going to take that?
07:45It's a top five pick two drafts ago that plays right next to the dude.
07:51How's he feel about this being a place where he can go find success in his career?
07:56There's just and he would have to understand this.
07:58And I think he would.
07:58There's absolutely zero time for him to feel any pity whatsoever because at any moment,
08:05I hate the messaging of it, but you would have to try to tell them like, hey, you guys
08:09are going to have to pick it up no matter what because we can't.
08:12There's businesses that has to be done.
08:14There's trades that have to be made.
08:15And if it doesn't affect you, you have to go on about your business and do the best thing
08:18you could possibly do for this football.
08:20Several of the teams, if I'm talking about West Coast teams, I mean, you look at it.
08:23The 49ers always seem to kind of be in it, even if they're always injured.
08:26The Seattle Seahawks obviously won the Super Bowl last year.
08:29The Rams are all in no matter what.
08:31The Chargers are a different style of organization.
08:33They're a little bit goofy, but the Rams are in no matter what.
08:36But the Chargers, they're a competitive football team.
08:38You would think the Chargers would be in on this as well.
08:41So any team out West that I could think of right now would be an effective possibility
08:46for him.
08:46But it's also the places where he'd like to play.
08:48I don't see him as a Seattle type of guy, so I'm trying to beat around the bush here.
08:52I think there's one place in particular or one city in particular that he would probably
08:57be open to playing in, and I think that one of those teams has made that call.
09:00And we'll find out some more information coming up here by 7 o'clock today.
09:03Again, I don't mean to upset anybody.
09:04I wish we were talking about something else.
09:06I'd rather talk about losing two out of three to the Boston Red Sox, which we will.
09:09I think I'd rather talk about Kobe Altman's message to the media where they might not be in
09:14a position where they have to make a trade or where they can make a trade.
