00:00Brown's OTA is going on.
00:02Miles Garrett not expected to show up,
00:05which means you, me, and everybody
00:07can expect another couple weeks of
00:09are the Browns about to trade Miles Garrett talk.
00:11Okay, good.
00:11We're going to do a couple more weeks of this?
00:13Yeah.
00:13When do we have a conclusion on the season after the start?
00:16Is that the idea?
00:17I'm actually very, very happy that you said this.
00:19Okay.
00:20Because I get it.
00:22Like, I think this is an internet creation.
00:24I think this is a media creation.
00:26I think it's been a very boring offseason.
00:29Last year, one of the five biggest stories
00:31for about six weeks was Miles Garrett asking for a trade.
00:34The Browns then went out there, gave him a contract,
00:36and then won five games.
00:38So I understand all the little bit of, you know,
00:42reporter media math that goes on.
00:44The new twist is they're really in the middle of a rebuild,
00:47and Miles isn't going to be good by the time you get good again,
00:50which is saying something because I still think
00:52they have a chance to be good this year, but I digress.
00:54But this is very clearly a media narrative.
00:58And there are people in the media who want this to be a story
01:02because, quite frankly, it's still a boring NFL offseason
01:05compared to what we're used to.
01:07Yeah, we've had a lot of nothing.
01:08So I'm going to give this – I'm actually going to –
01:10I'm opening up the banks here.
01:12If you want to talk about trading –
01:13I don't personally want to trade Miles Garrett.
01:15I don't really want to talk about trading Miles Garrett
01:17because I also don't think they're going to do it.
01:20But it is open season on this topic from now until June 2nd.
01:26But that is your drop-dead date.
01:28If June 3rd –
01:29I don't know about a drop-dead date.
01:30You're still bringing it up.
01:31I'm sorry.
01:32That's hack.
01:33Isn't it because –
01:34Hold on.
01:34Hold on.
01:35What's hack about it?
01:36Michael Parsons got traded well after June 2nd last year.
01:40He had already requested a trade.
01:41Miles has not requested a trade.
01:42Is that the difference in this for you?
01:43I think that's a pretty big difference.
01:45Okay.
01:45Yeah.
01:46Miles has already gotten paid.
01:47Yes, you might want to adjust his contract here.
01:50But, yeah, I don't –
01:51and, like, this might become a story if you get halfway through this next year
01:55and you're a 1-17.
01:56Okay, so unless Miles requests a trade, we're just going to cut it off.
02:00Correct-a-mundo.
02:01But I'm giving you until June 2nd.
02:03Hold on.
02:03This sounds very similar to the Ken thing where Ken was like,
02:05I'm not talking about Miles Garrett,
02:07and then proceeded to talk about Miles Garrett every day for two weeks after that.
02:09No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
02:11I'm saying it's open season.
02:12I'm not doing it.
02:12I'm not talking about Miles Garrett.
02:13And then he talked about Miles Garrett.
02:14He talked about Miles Garrett legitimately for, like, the next 10 shows.
02:16No, I'm saying right now it's open season until really June 3rd.
02:21You get all the way through the end of June 2nd,
02:24and by June 2nd, 11-59-59, heading into June 3rd,
02:29if he's still here, they're not trading him.
02:31Because if you're going to do it, you're going to do it on June 2nd
02:33to rip that Band-Aid off as quickly as humanly possible
02:37so maybe people forget by the time training comes along.
02:41And certainly you're hoping people forget before week one.
02:43If you're going to do it before the season, that's when you do it.
02:46You don't do it a week before the regular season.
02:48Okay.
02:49Right?
02:50Like, that wouldn't make sense.
02:51If you've got plans to trade him, and if those people are right,
02:54all these media members clearly just making this up,
02:57well, it would have to happen June 2nd.
03:00By the time we get to June 3rd, if he's not dealt,
03:03well, I'm assuming Miles is going to be here up until at least the trade deadline.
03:07I mean, I would assume if they're going to do any sort of trade,
03:09they've already been fielding the offers.
03:10But I am trying to figure out if after June 2nd,
03:13if all of a sudden then they start fielding even more offers,
03:15and maybe that's where that goes.
03:16I think the Browns understand this specific scenario a lot better
03:25than maybe we give them credit for.
03:26I think they understand because you've been so steadfast about not trading Miles
03:31and because you've done such a united front about what he means
03:35and where you're going, the fact that they want to present the front
03:39that they're trying to compete this year,
03:41I think they understand a prolonged trade kind of scenario with Miles
03:46would be the worst possible thing.
03:48I mean, what if they get to a spot where they look around
03:50and they just think, wow, Shador Sanders really isn't it.
03:52Deshaun Watson, boy, he stinks.
03:54And then they just, a quarterback competition that they thought was going to develop
03:58just can't possibly develop because neither quarterback is nearly as good as they thought.
04:02Then I think that's probably points for failure on planning.
04:08I mean, I'm just trying to figure it out.
04:09You couldn't see it coming from a mile away that this quarterback thing might fizzle out
04:13and might not work out.
04:15And then you get to like July 28th and go.
04:18Well, I mean, as of right now, you think that Shador and Deshaun,
04:20somebody is going to be at least serviceable at the quarterback spot.
04:23And so if they're living with that right now,
04:25and then they fast forward a month or so and they're like, whoa,
04:28I mean, once we actually saw them on the field, it just wasn't it.
04:32This season is headed straight to the toilet.
04:34We got to reevaluate and regroup.
04:36Yeah, you can do that about week eight.
04:39You got to let them play out.
04:41Once you get to camp, you got to let the chips fall where they may.
04:43Okay, so then we get to open up for a mid-season trade potential.
04:45I think so.
04:45Yeah, yeah.
04:46I mean, I do think if they were really bad this year, someone's going to offer,
04:52and Miles is healthy, someone's going to offer everything you want and more for Miles.
04:55Because people like Albert that's joining us at 520 are always going to be convinced
04:59that the Browns should have traded him, are making the wrong decision here,
05:02and even keeping him.
05:02And anytime he comes up, he's going to come up with the idea that he should have been gone.
05:05And we're locking him in as well.
05:07I want to hear him say—
05:09Oh, he can't lock Albert Breer in.
05:10Well, no, no, no.
05:11What I mean is I want to hear him say definitively,
05:13what percentage chance do you give Miles to not be a Cleveland Brown on June 3rd?
05:17I want to start with—because, again, this is how rumors turn into bigger stories
05:22and reports and all this.
05:23I want to try and lock this down.
05:25I want everyone, by the time we get to June 3rd,
05:28either Miles isn't here anymore and we can stop talking about it,
05:31or Miles isn't here.
05:33Oh, wait, what did I say?
05:34Miles is either—
05:35I think you doubled down on it.
05:36I got what you're saying.
05:37And by the way, I agree with you.
05:38I don't think he's going to be traded.
05:39I just don't see that happening.
05:41And I can't tell if it's because I—
05:45The idea that Miles' window is going to close
05:49right around the time the Browns get competitive
05:51is not the timeline that I think the Browns are working on.
05:53I really do believe the Browns think that if it doesn't go well with quarterbacks this year,
05:57next year they're going to draft a quarterback,
05:59but they'll have the whole entire rest of the team all around them,
06:02and they've been building this thing to just plug in the quarterback.
06:04I think they believe, and they might be wrong in this assessment,
06:07but they believe that next year is going to be really competitive.
06:10Not 2026, 2027.
06:12It's going to be really competitive.
06:14Well, Miles' window isn't just going to close in a season.
06:16Yeah.
06:17And here's the thing.
06:20Again, there will be a time where maybe trading Miles makes sense.
06:25And I also want to leave open this one door.
06:28Just because they said it publicly doesn't mean that privately they haven't had considerations.
06:33And the thing that made me think about this June 3rd deadline is pretty simple.
06:39Andrew Barry got James Gladstone to shut up about the Travis Hunter trade for,
06:43what is it, was it two full weeks that they sat on that story?
06:46Yeah, yeah, yeah.
06:47So it's apparent that Andrew and this front office can lock another front office down
06:51and say, you're going to get what you want on June 2nd.
06:53You just have to...
06:55I mean, hell, we know A.J. Brown's traded to New England already,
06:58and we don't know what the actual terms of the actual deal are.
07:02No, but yeah, but the Browns can keep a tight lip.
07:04So we know it can happen.
07:06And if it's going to happen, that's the way it's going to happen, by the way.
07:09It'll be one day.
07:10Hey, yep.
07:11It'll be June 2nd.
07:12Oh, my God.
07:13Can't believe it happened.
07:14We couldn't pass this up.
07:15Miles gets to go to a winner.
07:17They will have thought all of this out in painstaking detail before it happens,
07:22and they actually will be able to execute the PR messaging from it.
07:26But if he's here June 3rd, all right, talk to you in November, I guess.
07:30Yeah, it's interesting because I feel like the timeline for Miles
07:34is also one of these things that the Browns look at just very differently than fans.
07:37I feel like a lot of fans think that Miles is just going to be,
07:40I don't know, a depreciating asset for the next two years.
07:44And then it's like, why did we miss trading him?
07:46I think they look at Miles as somebody that's going to play for a really,
07:49really long time and stretch the limits of how long you can be great at that
07:53position because of how well he takes care of his body.
07:55And I will tell you, so I do think this is where I don't,
07:58I think 90% of Browns fans couldn't give a rat's ass about Miles' value.
08:0310% I do think do.
08:05But I think, and I think it's inverse for the media.
08:07I think 90% of people are, oh, we got to get value for Miles.
08:12No, believe it or not, there are some players who are just consistently great
08:16for most of their career.
08:17They stay in one spot for the entirety of that career.
08:21And then at the end of their career, they go to the Hall of Fame.
08:24Like this, I understand the value-driven, obsessed media to some degree,
08:29but to the degree it's like, well, you got to trade Miles.
08:31Now, no, you don't.
08:32No, because the second you actually do get the quarterback, whether that's Deshaun,
08:36Shador, or a quarterback next year, the second you actually get the quarterback,
08:39you know what you're going to think to yourself?
08:41You know what I could really use right now?
08:43A Miles Garrett.
08:44Well, so the other part of this equation, though, is we've really,
08:46we still have not yet figured out how Miles feels about Todd Munkin being hired.
08:49We still don't know how he feels about this team moving forward.
08:52Like the other part of this, and you could just say, well, it doesn't matter.
08:54Don't, I do the same thing you did last year and tell him, I don't care.
08:57You're a Cleveland Brown.
08:58Sure, that exists.
08:59It does.
08:59It's part of the cards, but we don't know how Miles feels about any of this at this point.
09:04Fair.
09:04And that's why I think June 3rd makes a lot of, the June 3rd deadline makes a lot of sense
09:09for this.
09:10Because again, if Miles this time secretly requested a trade and the Browns, again,
09:16keeping it under wraps, like I'm leaving the door open that, all right,
09:20they understand that if you're going to do this, you don't broadcast it.
09:23You take the PR hit, rip it off in one quick, smooth Band-Aid pull, and then you move on.
09:29But you don't telegraph it, and you certainly don't, you kind of don't sit in it as well.
09:34It would tank the enthusiasm for this upcoming season for Browns fans.
09:37Yeah, it'd be back by the time training camp comes around.
09:39I really do believe, like, I...
09:41I mean, because you're signaling to everybody that this year, and they're already,
09:44we were kind of like mixed on whether or not they are doing that or aren't doing that as is.
09:48If you trade Miles Garrett, you're telling the fan base, don't care about 2026.
09:51It depends on what you get back.
09:53If you got a solid starting defensive end and three first-rounders in return for him,
09:57or if you got somebody to put in that quarterback room...
10:01I mean, I would imagine it would all be about the 2027 draft picks.
10:03Yeah, in 2028, I think that makes a lot of sense.
10:06Sure, we can extend it out.
10:06But if there is, and I don't know the quarterback off the top of my head,
10:09because I can't think of one, if there's a deal in which you can get a decent starting veteran quarterback,
10:15or maybe as part of this deal, I don't know how it works, because the salary cap is beyond me,
10:19but if you could find a way to package Miles and Deshaun's contracts together,
10:23I think there are ways that you could do this that would excite people.
10:26I think the devil's in the details, though.
10:29You can't let the story fester and breathe air to it with a public trade request.
10:34If you're going to trade Miles, you just rip the band-aid off on June 2nd.
10:38Otherwise, if he's here June 3rd, well, I'm safe until at least, what, week 9?
10:43Week 9, yep.
10:43All right, so lock it in for yourself.
10:45You're going to ask Albert about the percentages.
10:46Lock in your percentage.
10:48I'm saying it's a 92.3% chance that Miles will be here on June 3rd.
10:54Yeah, all right.
10:54Yeah, that also happened to be a couple of my lucky numbers.
10:57Is that right now?
