00:00Hello and welcome to this National James Weather Update for Monday.
00:04We have got a cold front that is moving across the country.
00:07We'll be going into the east.
00:09Meanwhile, there's cold, speckled cloud over the southwest with some leftover showers.
00:13Before the next system arrives, there is building back to the southwest now.
00:16We still have moistures pouring into the northern parts of Queensland.
00:19That will continue day after day this week.
00:22The yellow areas here, that is a severe weather warning for damaging wind gusts,
00:26which is on Monday just into Tuesday in these eastern parts here in South Australia,
00:31Victoria, the snowies here, and also all of these parts of Tasmania
00:34ahead of that cold front moving through.
00:37So let's have a look at day by day what to expect from these here.
00:40So this will continue moving through.
00:42Here we have Monday the 15th in the corner there.
00:45We've got this just moving into the western parts of Victoria,
00:47across South Australia, Tasmania,
00:49and the remains of those showers coming into the southwest corner there,
00:53plus all of those showers coming into the northern parts of Queensland.
00:56As we move into Tuesday, that moves through.
00:58It does extend fairly far north into these parts of New South Wales.
01:02You'll notice it stops at the ranges, doesn't go to the eastern side in through there,
01:05doesn't go to the southeastern parts of Tasmania,
01:08very western system as this moves in.
01:10But it's got a lovely feed of moisture that is coming in.
01:12Again, showers continue there, a bit of a break over in the southwest.
01:16Not though on Wednesday.
01:17That's when the next front comes on through.
01:19This one isn't anywhere as strong as the ones we saw over the weekend.
01:23But there is another little burst of wet weather with that one.
01:26High pressure by the end of Wednesday is sitting here over western parts of New South Wales.
01:31So you've got the leftover bit of wet weather from that system coming in.
01:34Not really on the east and hardly anything left on the west of the ranges in through there,
01:39but still hitting the western parts of Tasmania and still having that moisture feed in.
01:44Let's watch what that's going to do over the next couple of days as it interacts with this one here.
01:48So here we are Thursday, front in through here, but it is sliding downwards.
01:52Next one building in behind it.
01:54A ridge of high pressure coming in through here to stop that extending very far north.
01:58This one has now started to move in a little bit more.
02:01And let's watch as we're going into Friday.
02:04All through these inlined areas here.
02:06Stops at the ranges pretty much.
02:08Not really an eastern system at this stage.
02:10But there is the potential for patchy light rain, embedded thunderstorms that would bring a heavier fall
02:15as this moves across during the day on Friday.
02:18And ahead of that is a lot of warm air.
02:20In behind us we've got cold air.
02:22Okay, so that's by the end of Friday into Saturday.
02:25All in through here through these parts of Queensland, northeast New South Wales, along the ranges here.
02:30And again, the western parts of Tasmania.
02:33And now it's next to its feed that is coming in that's from the north there, plus what we had from the northwest.
02:38High pressure is back in through here as we go into Sunday.
02:41There we are just south of Perth.
02:42So there's the potential for another system to come up into the southeast.
02:45Meanwhile, this continues in Queensland.
02:48Okay, let's have a look at what that should add up to.
02:50So some good falls in through here.
02:52That's kind of the entry point we see of that moisture coming in.
02:55But as it moves through the inland there, really it's 5 to 10 millimetres at best, unless you get a thunderstorm.
03:01As you head to the ranges, so the western slopes in through there, we're 10 to 15, maybe a little bit more.
03:07And down on the actual alpine areas, it is a lot more.
03:11Western parts of Tasmania absolutely soaked over the next week, thanks to system after system just moving through there.
03:17Compare that to what's happening in the southeast, and it's a very, very big difference.
03:20That system that comes through the southwest, not as strong as the previous ones, 15 to 25 millimetres, as it moves through.
03:27As always, head to Farmer Alarm Weather for the latest.
03:29.
03:37.
03:39.
03:40.
03:42.
