00:00Hello and welcome to this Victorian Janesweiler update for Friday. We have fairly clear skies. There's activity brewing to our west and there is activity brewing to our east and they're going to collide over Victoria across the weekend.
00:13Also, we've got high pressure that is moving in through here, so that is now shutting us off from those cold southerly winds.
00:19The ridge is going to extend up the east coast here, meaning our airflow goes northeasterly. That means warmer conditions, but also a bit of moisture in the air, so it is going to feel a bit more humid.
00:30Let's have a look day by day what to expect. Today, we are essentially dry.
00:34Let's have a look into Saturday. This one starts to come in from the west during the day and this one starts to come in from the northeast during the day.
00:41They'll collide over Melbourne on Saturday night.
00:43Having a look at Sunday, that is now for the central and eastern parts as the low pressure system moves away.
00:49There it is by the end of the day, but that is looking quite wet during the day on Sunday for Gippsland and the eastern ranges in particular.
00:57And into Melbourne as well, where there is the risk of storms.
00:59OK, so there's our wet weather pattern as we move through Sunday.
01:03Have a look at Monday. Conditions are fairly dry. We've got a trough that's running down in through here.
01:07And look at these lines, the purple and the red. That is heat.
01:10So we're going to see heat building in those northern parts there.
01:13But I'll show you what's coming around the corner in the southwest in a sec.
01:16So here we have Tuesday. The heat is up there. We've got the potential for some wet weather.
01:21It's not clear cut. It's not on all of the weather models.
01:23So there's no confidence in that at its stage.
01:27But have you look at this energy that is in through here.
01:29Have you look at Wednesday, that starts to come through.
01:31So our wet weather does increase once again.
01:34Into Thursday, here is our cold air that is moving across Tasmania.
01:37So we're going to feel that during the day on Thursday, with temperatures tumbling, lots of showers in those southern parts.
01:43Into next Friday, we take a bit of a break.
01:45But there may be another weather system to come across next Saturday.
01:49OK, so what might this add up to?
01:51Gippsland is going to see the most out of this one.
01:53And that's mainly on Sunday, thanks to that low that passes by.
01:56So it's 25 to 50 millimetres across the week as a whole.
01:5910 to 15 in through here, less if you are in the northwest.
02:02So day by day, here we have in Melbourne, where about 19 or 20 during the afternoon, there's lots of sunshine.
02:09Friday is nice.
02:11Saturday, up to about 22, maybe 24.
02:14It's dry for the majority of the day.
02:16And then at night, on Saturday night, that is when that next weather system hits, the risk of showers and thunderstorms.
02:22That lasts into Sunday morning.
02:24And then on Sunday afternoon, it's generally dry.
02:26But there is the risk of a thunderstorm.
02:29We're about 21.
02:29Early next week, we've still got the humidity with us.
02:32So have a look at our dew point here and how that increases over the weekend.
02:36That's how much moisture is in the air.
02:37It starts to feel a little bit Queensland-like.
02:40Temperatures increase as well during the afternoon.
02:42So Monday and Tuesday are generally dry and we're quite warm.
02:46And there's a fair bit of sunshine in there as well.
02:48The risk of showers is mainly on Tuesday morning.
02:50Wednesday is our next major wet weather day.
02:52Back down to 21.
02:54Showers and storms are likely, particularly in the afternoon.
02:57Thursday, top of 15 or 16.
03:00Yes, that cold air that moves across Tasmania.
03:02We're going to feel it here during the day on Thursday.
03:04Showers passing through, generally dry next Friday.
03:07But we're not seeing the warmth just yet.
