00:00Hello and welcome to this Jane's Weather Update for Monday for Australia Wide.
00:05We've got yet another cold outbreak moving across the southeast.
00:08So there's showers all about the coastal areas here just extending inland and mainly about western Tasmania.
00:14All of the action that was over Queensland and northeast New South Wales is now contracting northwards as the day goes on.
00:20And our focus now turns over to the southwest.
00:23Not a lot happening down here at the moment.
00:24We're going to get some heat come down and also some wet weather activity over the next couple of days.
00:29So let's have a look at that.
00:30By the end of today, which is the 17th, the cold air mass is, I'll just move this over here, it's now out through here.
00:36But we're looking at snow down to 800 metres in Tasmania during the day.
00:39We'll keep an eye on when the next cold outbreak is, but for the moment our eyes go further north.
00:44So here's our wet weather during the day.
00:46Here's the remains of what to expect on Monday.
00:48So not in southeast Queensland, not in northeast New South Wales.
00:51Action up at the top.
00:52We're going to see that each and every day as a potential tropical system does develop later in the week.
00:58But here is our dip of hot air.
01:00So you can see the purple and the reds.
01:02That is the hot air that is always across the north, starting to dip down into the southwest.
01:06Let's focus on that.
01:07Let's move into Tuesday here.
01:09There's the heat coming down, but we've also got shower and thunderstorm activity all clear through here and in New South Wales.
01:15In the southeast, we've got the next cold outbreak developing, but it's back to the west for the moment.
01:21So just in the western parts of Tasmania, and we've got a little bit of shower activity just in through there.
01:25The main focus is over here on Tuesday over in the west.
01:29Heading into Wednesday, here's that cold outbreak coming up, but still by the end of the day, it is back over to the west.
01:34Here we've got our showers and thunderstorms, the heat that has come down.
01:38Next high pressure system is coming in through here.
01:40So let's watch as we move into Thursday.
01:42OK, this system moves in.
01:44It had a lot of cold air energy with it, but it kind of flops and it doesn't produce a lot of wet weather as this one moves through.
01:50So, yes, another cold outbreak, but it is tempered by the time it reaches the mainland.
01:55What it will do, though, is the cold air energy from this will be an upper level pool of energy that will create some wet weather for southeast Queensland and the eastern parts of New South Wales.
02:05So let's watch that over the next couple of days.
02:07We've also got this over in the west.
02:09You've got the heat, you've got the shower and the storms.
02:11So that was a return to some wet weather in the southwest.
02:14They're now starting to move further east.
02:16So there's Thursday.
02:17Have a look at Friday, southeast Queensland, northeast New South Wales, and this mess of activity is in through the west here.
02:23Heat now starting to move further eastwards as we go into Friday.
02:27So have a look at Saturday.
02:28There's our heat coming through.
02:30There's our showers and thunderstorms, southeast Queensland and the eastern parts of New South Wales as this one moves across.
02:36So that is Saturday.
02:37Potential for something up in through here as well.
02:40Have a look at Sunday.
02:40There is the heat that is moving into the southeast, but there is all of our shower and storm activity as well.
02:46So heat versus some wet weather.
02:49Southeast Queensland, eastern parts of New South Wales and Victoria will be seeing it too.
02:53Then into next Monday, that moves away, but the next one may come through.
02:57Is this our next major weather system?
02:59Cold air coming up from the south, the energy from that.
03:02Tropical deluge coming in from the north.
03:04Will they meet in the middle and will they head eastwards?
03:06But out ahead of that, there's our red lines and our purple lines, indicating a lengthy period of heat for the places that don't have any wet weather.
03:14What might that add up to?
03:16The potential for lots up in the north here, depending if that develops and where it goes.
03:20The potential for some good falls under here.
03:22This is not likely to be overly widespread, more like hit and miss shower and thunderstorm activity.
03:27Tending to areas of steady light rain, but the heavier falls there definitely from the storms and they're hit and miss.
03:32In through here, we've got southeast Queensland, the eastern parts of New South Wales with that nexus that picks up later in the week and a little bit for the southeast as well.
03:40As always, head to Farm Online Weather for the latest.
