00:00Hello and welcome to this national Janesweather update for Friday.
00:04We have a lot going on as per usual.
00:06The majority of that is over Queensland and North East New South Wales and also the NT.
00:12There's a little bit happening down the South East, while the South West does take a break.
00:16So we do have a low pressure system here, but the main feature is this one here and into Queensland,
00:22which is going to draw our attention for the next couple of days.
00:25So let's take a look. Here we are Friday.
00:27You can see our rain totals for the day. A lot of activity there's running through Queensland,
00:31particularly into the South East. So we could get some decent falls out of that.
00:35Showers, thunderstorms, particularly this afternoon.
00:37If you're under a storm, it can bring a heavy fall, tending to areas of widespread rain.
00:42Here's the second part of that. They're going to join together over the next couple of days.
00:46Let's focus on this one. First of all, we'll go day by day.
00:49So here we have Friday into Saturday. We'll move forward there.
00:52Into Saturday, we've got this burst joining up with this one and coming down into these parts here.
00:58So we'll focus on this one in a sec. But this is our pattern for the day during Saturday.
01:02It'll increase again as we go into Sunday. It's just heaps of moisture that's pouring in.
01:07It's all out ahead of a trough line in through here.
01:09And as that trough line contracts northwards, the activity will as well.
01:14And that is on Monday. So by Tuesday, there's hardly anything left at all.
01:17It's all up in the far north.
01:18So that really does kick off during the day on Friday, increasing again later Saturday and into Sunday and then clearing on Monday.
01:26In the southeast, we've got this low pressure system that is here by the end of the day.
01:30That has kind of separated from the moisture to the north.
01:33So it's not going to bring huge widespread falls like we have seen in recent weather systems that have moved through.
01:38So not a huge widespread system, not significant.
01:41But if you're under a thunderstorm, then yes, it will bring a heavy fall.
01:44Here it is by the end of Friday, then Saturday, it moves across through there and the southeastern parts of New South Wales.
01:51So that's the first one crossing through.
01:53That's all we get from that.
01:54Then we focus on what's happening over the bite.
01:56As going to Sunday, the first cold front comes up.
01:59And then into Monday, there's a burst of cold air that comes in behind it.
02:02So no, we are not done with the cold outbreaks hitting the southeast.
02:06For the rest of the week there in the southeast, there's a little bit of that wet weather activity.
02:10We've got onshore wind, so it's exposed parts of here.
02:13There's nothing significant day after day.
02:15In fact, it warms up a little before it cools down again at the end of the week.
02:19Let's now have a look at what's going on over here and up in the top end as well.
02:23So here we have Sunday.
02:24We've got our heat returning, moving into Monday, starting to see some wet weather kick off in the west.
02:29Into Tuesday, heading down southwards.
02:32Wednesday is when we start to really see it in that southwestern corner.
02:35Thursday spreading through and then into Friday as well.
02:38So a big week of showers and thunderstorms pretty much every afternoon and evening as you go through.
02:45Let's also have a quick look up at the top end here.
02:47We might get an interesting tropical feature that comes through there.
02:51I'm going to use the C word yet, which would be cyclo.
02:54But something to keep an eye on late in the period.
02:57Something to watch if you're up in that area there to see what that one might do.
03:01In terms of totals, let's move in through here.
03:04Queensland, southeastern part, 75 to 100 millimeters.
03:07So we're seeing that Friday, Saturday, Sunday clearing out on Monday.
03:11And then there isn't much left except for the bit that comes in at the end of next week.
03:15In the southeast, we're not looking at major falls.
03:18And it really does dissipate as you head inland.
03:20But over in the west, these showers and thunderstorms that kick off later next week in that southwest corner.
03:26And the potential for some big falls up in the top there.
03:28As always, head to 419 weather for the latest.
