00:00Previously on Project Runway Junior.
00:03For your next challenge, you'll be working in two teams of five.
00:06Oh, wow.
00:08For a five-look collection.
00:10The 60s.
00:11Yay, we got the 40s.
00:13This has got to be elevated.
00:15I mean, my brain's going to sleep.
00:17You have to change everything again?
00:18Yeah.
00:19I'm not going to have anything for you, Cheyenne.
00:20That scarf reminds me of a Russian grandmother.
00:24I'm getting a crop top and a pencil skirt almost every challenge.
00:27She should be going home because her dress is like .
00:30Bridget, you're the winner of this challenge.
00:32Oh, my god.
00:33Samantha, Matt, we rarely give second chances,
00:36but you're both in.
00:54Hello, designers.
00:55Hello.
00:56Hi.
00:57Welcome back to the runway.
01:00We weren't prepared to let go of anyone yesterday.
01:03For your next challenge, unfortunately,
01:05this is a double elimination.
01:09I think that double elimination is definitely scary
01:12because two people that you're close to,
01:14or even yourself, could be going home.
01:16In today's world, the modern young woman
01:19is a real girl on the go.
01:21She's strong.
01:22She's confident.
01:23She goes to school.
01:24She works.
01:25She travels.
01:26And more.
01:27And she always looks good doing it.
01:29That's right, Hannah.
01:30And that's what this challenge is all about.
01:32She will be creating a fashionable look for the modern girl on the go.
01:37Yay!
01:38Here to inspire you is a woman who advocates for this brand of girl power more passionately than anyone.
01:48Hello, designers.
01:51Oh!
01:52Michelle!
01:53Congratulations on being chosen to compete on Project Runway Junior.
01:59I'm super stoked because it's like Michelle Obama.
02:02Like, oh.
02:03I know that you all have worked so hard to be here today.
02:07No, this is not real.
02:08Oh.
02:09My.
02:10Gosh.
02:11It's Michelle Obama, as in the First Lady of the United States of America.
02:18Right now, more than 62 million girls worldwide are out of school,
02:23and they never have the chance to develop their potential.
02:26And just think about how many of these 62 million girls might have the potential
02:31to find a cure for cancer or run a company or country or take the design world by storm like all of you.
02:39And that's why, earlier this year, the United States launched a new initiative called Let Girls Learn
02:46to help adolescent girls worldwide get an education.
02:50And that's where all of you come in.
02:53Because the winner of today's Girl on the Go Challenge will get to design a special backpack.
02:59Lanzen will take your design and use it to produce a backpack to raise awareness about global girls' education.
03:06Oh, my gosh.
03:07This is crazy.
03:08Marzen's challenge is amazing.
03:10It would mean the world to me designing a backpack for a good cause,
03:14because I have done things in the past.
03:16I raised money for water filters, and we gave those water filters for people in the Maldives who needed them.
03:22It always makes me feel good to do a good cause in the world.
03:25Lanzen will also be providing generous support for Let Girls Learn.
03:29So, designers, good luck, have fun, and I can't wait to see what you all create.
03:35Thank you, Mrs. Obama.
03:37In order to determine which type of Girl on the Go you'll be designing for, we're going to play a little game.
03:43Yay!
03:44You'll see on our wheel that we have five categories.
03:47School, travel, sporty, party, and work.
03:51You're each going to spin the wheel, and wherever the wheel lands, that is the type of Girl on the Go you will be designing for.
03:58Yay!
03:59Let's start with Maya.
04:01Good spin.
04:02Hoping for the party.
04:04Just stop on party.
04:05You can do it.
04:06All right!
04:08Sporty.
04:09All right!
04:10It's fine.
04:11I think that I can do something really cool.
04:13Zachary.
04:16Yes!
04:17Le party.
04:19Jessie.
04:20I got school.
04:21Victoria.
04:23All right.
04:24School.
04:25Math.
04:26All right.
04:27Travel.
04:28Zach.
04:31Shout it out.
04:32Party!
04:34Samantha.
04:35I have work.
04:36Work!
04:37Katie.
04:40Travel.
04:41Yes!
04:42Travel.
04:43That's what I wanted.
04:44I already have, like, a bunch of ideas in my head of what I could do, and I'm super excited.
04:48Bridget.
04:50School.
04:51Jackson.
04:53There we go.
04:54Zach!
04:55Zach!
04:56Oh, wait!
04:57Wait!
04:58Wait!
04:59Wait!
05:00Oh!
05:01I feel super nervous because I don't do a lot of sporty stuff.
05:05I'm more glamorous, cocktail party, ball gowns, stuff like that.
05:09Can I tell you something?
05:10Everyone Maya has reached the big one for.
05:14Happy birthday to Maya!
05:15If God told me happy birthday, and that, to me, will forever make this the best birthday ever.
05:21All right, designers.
05:22You have your category of girl on the go.
05:25Your time to sketch begins now.
05:28I cannot sketch to save my life.
05:30To really play with more movement.
05:32I'm thinking I'm gonna do a bodice, cape-like structure, with a pair of tailored pants and a corset.
05:39I know exactly what I want.
05:42A really short dress, and it'll have a slit up the back with shorts underneath.
05:46It's like a stylish apron, I guess you could say.
05:51My design, it's like this girl who has her boyfriend's basketball jersey, only it's down to the floor.
05:59Maxi dress kind of thing.
06:01We'll see what happens.
06:02All right, designers.
06:03We're going shopping at Mood, where you will have a budget of $200.
06:07Yay!
06:08Good luck, designers.
06:09Go!
06:17Can I have happy art?
06:18Yes.
06:19I pick out a black denim and a grey denim.
06:21With the double elimination, it's very anxiety-inducing because the risks are higher.
06:27This one's all you need?
06:28Yes.
06:29I finally come to the decision to make the jersey idea only shorter.
06:32I want to get white mesh, so I grab this silver metallic-y fabric, because I always like to have a backup plan.
06:42I need to get two of this and four and a half of that.
06:45Here it is.
06:46Ay, caramba!
06:47I find this really cool, bright print.
06:50It's tribal-looking.
06:51I really want to win and just take a bunch of risks in this challenge.
06:55Yeah, three years, please.
06:56I'm not really feeling like I have a clear vision, so I grab this really nice berry color, and also I grab a few more, so I'll have options.
07:07So I end up finding a fabric that has a good amount of stretch to it, and I think that it'll make this whole sweater vest idea really well.
07:15All right, designers.
07:17Time is up.
07:18Let's head back to the workroom.
07:20Thank you, Mood.
07:21Thank you, Mood.
07:22And goodbye, Swatch.
07:23Goodbye, Swatch.
07:24Goodbye, Swatch.
07:25Mm-hmm.
07:28Oh.
07:32Whoa, it's so tall.
07:34Well, I don't want any of the fabric to touch the floor because it's, like, really white, and I don't want it to get anything dirty.
07:39My ideas have changed a little bit because I'm thinking, oh, maybe the jersey's a little too kind of costumey.
07:46What would Sporty Spice wear?
07:48There.
07:49I'm a little bit worried for Jackson.
07:51He picked out this really tacky-looking white mesh, and he's going to have a hard time making it not look ratchet.
07:57Hi, Tim.
07:58Hi.
07:59Hello, Tim.
08:00Wow, there's some vibrant textiles around.
08:02Good.
08:03Good.
08:04You have one day for this challenge.
08:06Bridget, you have immunity.
08:09So happy.
08:10All right, I'll be back later to check in with you.
08:12Work hard.
08:14So how does it feel to have immunity?
08:21There's, like, zero stress.
08:23How are you feeling?
08:24I'm all right.
08:25It's quite ambitious.
08:27I'm making this sweater vest idea with a really cool collar and an asymmetrical zipper.
08:33It's going pretty well, but who knows?
08:36I decided to try mixing the textures a little bit.
08:40This is my own take of a pleated skirt and a turtleneck.
08:45The last runway, I really didn't do too well.
08:48This challenge, I really want to impress the judges.
08:52This is going to drive me insane.
08:55Oh, my God.
08:56Victoria, you always do the same top.
08:59You're so rude.
09:01It wasn't rude.
09:02Why do you care what I do?
09:03And first of all, I'm making the bottom difference, so you just focus on yourself.
09:07Okay.
09:08I think it looks great, Victoria.
09:12So, shush.
09:15I'm feeling really nervous and insecure.
09:18I really don't want the judges to think that I'm just a one note, and I'm not really sure where I want to take my look at this point.
09:26I feel like mine is just not very good.
09:28It doesn't feel sporty.
09:30I'm deciding to start over.
09:32Ooh.
09:33I know.
09:34I feel super nervous about the double elimination coming up.
09:38I feel like I could be in trouble.
09:41Coming up on Project Runway Junior.
09:43You've got to raise the bar here.
09:45It's a trick you don't need.
09:47It's not that bad.
09:48So, oh, really?
09:50I love the dramatic kind of whoosh.
09:53That was a little bit intimidating.
09:55Why did you hide the details?
09:57You're way cooler than this.
09:59My new idea is that I want to go back to my original sporty plan.
10:15Only this time it's going to be like this oversized jersey that goes down to the knees.
10:20I always have an idea of what I want to do, but it's never, like, set in stone.
10:29My training is all self-taught.
10:31I draw most of my inspiration from punk rock because I love the attitude that comes out through the music.
10:36I'm thinking of a dress, but I don't know if I'm going in the right direction.
10:39It's not that bad.
10:41Hi.
10:42Hello.
10:43Designers, we've already had one lovely surprise today.
10:46A visit from Mrs. Obama.
10:48Yay!
10:49Well, we have another lovely surprise.
10:51Natalie, come on in.
10:52Hi.
10:53Hi, designers.
10:54I worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in Madagascar.
10:57Nearly 7,000 Peace Corps volunteers work in over 60 countries around the world.
11:02We are girls and guys on the go, so this challenge is a perfect fit.
11:06As the First Lady mentioned, the winner of this challenge truly has the opportunity to help
11:11Peace Corps volunteers let girls learn around the world.
11:16Having the opportunity to create a bag for Let Girls Learn, it would be amazing.
11:21I can really relate.
11:22I was adopted from Cambodia when I was seven months old into a wonderful family with two dads.
11:27Last year, I went back to the orphanage and visited the kids.
11:31Giving back to community is such a great thing.
11:33I hope to win this challenge.
11:35All right, designers.
11:36I can't wait to see what you're doing.
11:38Petey.
11:39Hey, Tim.
11:40What I wanted to do is focus on where a girl travels in one day.
11:44So what I was thinking of doing is putting grommets into this right here, but I'm wondering if they're too yellow.
11:50What happens to this nice, clean line?
11:53Oh, yeah.
11:54It probably scrunches or something.
11:56It will scrunch.
11:57Okay.
11:58It's just so crisp and clean.
12:01I don't know how Petey does it.
12:03She works with Prince so well.
12:05She is definitely a power player.
12:08Zachary, wow.
12:09Hello.
12:10Hi.
12:11You've done a lot.
12:12The modern girl is supposed to have 80% basics and 20% fluff in her closet.
12:17It's like the new rule, I guess.
12:18I hadn't heard that before.
12:21But I like it.
12:22And so every girl needs a nice fitted trouser.
12:25Yes.
12:26And then I wanted to do something like more corset-y back.
12:31It's not necessary.
12:32I don't get corset.
12:34There's enough happening in this.
12:35Okay.
12:36Maya, you look nervous.
12:38Why?
12:39I'm always nervous.
12:40Well, you know, that could be a good thing.
12:41Just let it work for you and not against you.
12:43Okay.
12:44So how are you doing?
12:45I'm doing this asymmetrical top.
12:47Which I love.
12:49I mean, I think it's a fantastic contrast.
12:51It's a sports fabric.
12:53I think it's smashing.
12:54I think Maya's look is great.
12:55I think she's my biggest competition because the top looks amazing.
12:59I've never seen something like that before.
13:00It's really cool.
13:01So my girl is sporty.
13:03She's basically going on a date.
13:06I like how the white mesh looks.
13:08And then I also was going to have this as a lining.
13:12Okay.
13:13I just feel it's so...
13:15Oh, really?
13:17Why is it a dress?
13:19Well, I didn't want it to be shorts.
13:22So it's either a dress or shorts.
13:24Or it could be a romper.
13:26It's more interesting.
13:28Yeah.
13:29And much sportier.
13:30I could do it in this to make it more interesting.
13:35You said it.
13:36Okay.
13:39I'm just trying to add a bit more of a design element in the top.
13:43And will it have this mock turtleneck?
13:46I was thinking about that.
13:47I wasn't sure if it would make it look too older looking.
13:51This is what's making it look older.
13:53This tweedy fabric, you can tell I'm troubled.
13:56Yeah, I am too.
13:57Jesse's looks like it came out of his grandma's closet.
13:59I did buy this gray.
14:01This gray.
14:02If you were to use that fabric, I would execute it exactly the same way.
14:05Okay.
14:06Knowing that he's concerned, I'm feeling pressure.
14:08So all I need to do is whip out another skirt and I'll be good.
14:11How's Victoria?
14:12I'm just a little indecisive right now about where I could take my design.
14:17You need to take this further.
14:18That's for certain because it looks like what you created for the last challenge.
14:22We keep seeing the same thing from you over and over again.
14:26Tim is hating it.
14:28I was so scared.
14:29You've got to raise the bar here.
14:31You've got to amp it up.
14:32I have no idea where I want to take it.
14:35There's a double elimination coming up and it is brightening.
14:40Coming up on Project Runway Junior.
14:42Are they too short?
14:43Yeah.
14:44The whole thought of that makes me feel sick.
14:46She's a seamstress at this point.
14:47Ow!
14:48Oh!
14:49I like it.
14:50Jackson's look is a hot mess express.
14:59I don't want you to be labeled on one note.
15:02And two people are going home.
15:04The whole thought of that makes me feel sick.
15:06But you've got to raise the bar here.
15:08What if I just make the skirt out of this?
15:11Let me ask you this question.
15:13Can you unpin it?
15:15Already this is so much more interesting.
15:17And it's something completely new from you.
15:19It is new.
15:20And what about taking what's frankly a ho-hum top.
15:23Mm-hmm.
15:24How about executing that in this?
15:26See?
15:27Yeah, I see it.
15:28I feel really confident in that.
15:29Okay, good.
15:30All right, your models will be coming in for a fitting.
15:32And you have three hours remaining in the day.
15:34I'll see you in the morning.
15:36All right.
15:37Good morning, Tim.
15:44Tim basically redesigned the entire thing.
15:46Yeah.
15:47So she's not a designer.
15:49She's a seamstress at this point.
15:54How are you?
15:55Good.
15:56Okay, so.
15:57How are you?
15:58Good.
15:59Okay, I have a lot to fit on you.
16:00It's like a tunic.
16:01And then the back.
16:03Oh, it's shorts.
16:04Yeah, they're shorts.
16:05Don't worry.
16:07So basically right now we have a gigantic pair of pants
16:10that I need to pin it.
16:11Ow!
16:13All I have for you right now to try on is this.
16:16Because I just started over, I only have the pattern for the
16:19top portion of the romper.
16:21I like it.
16:22And then I quickly make some shorts.
16:24I'm gonna like pin this together and make sure it fits.
16:28I would totally, this is totally something I would wear in school.
16:31Good, good, good.
16:32Are they too short, the shorts?
16:34Yeah.
16:35That's way too tight.
16:36This shit's looking really bad.
16:37I mean, one leg is smaller and tighter than the other.
16:41But I have just enough fabric to redo the shorts.
16:44This is a major challenge that I really want to win.
16:48It's a little Gorgina.
16:50Those shorts fit really good.
16:52Yeah.
16:53You see how it pops out?
16:54I'm really concerned about the top because the pleather,
16:56it's just laying so awkward.
16:58I'm kind of nervous about that because I don't have enough time to fit it on her again.
17:03Bye, thank you.
17:04Thank you so much, bye.
17:08Ow!
17:09How many times can Maya poke herself in one of this?
17:11Fourteen.
17:12Not as many times as Jackson can restart his look.
17:15That was a good one, Victoria.
17:17So I'm deciding not to start over, partly because I'm gonna be like,
17:21oh, you're gonna run out of time.
17:22But I also really like the sporty.
17:24Whomper.
17:25I'm surprised I was able to, like, get the skirt done in the wrong time.
17:29It looks the exact same.
17:31I changed my skirt into the gray fabric, much like a school uniform.
17:35I'm feeling a little nervous about the top.
17:38Yeah, I'll do your model walk for you.
17:40Maya!
17:42I think that Zachary's look is stunning.
17:44I love how dramatic it is.
17:46Yes, Maya!
17:49And then at the end when they go, when they go like this, ready?
17:52All right, I'm done being slassy.
17:55Maya, you should pursue your career as a model.
17:58All right, guys, it's time to go back to the Paper Factory Hotel.
18:02We are beat.
18:11Go to work, work, work.
18:13I feel pretty good coming to the workroom.
18:15I have to hem the romper and add the straps to the romper.
18:18This look, it's a lot better than my first five designs.
18:26Katie, how much more do you have to do today?
18:28Sew on one more of the straps and that's about it.
18:30Oh.
18:31You're good, you're good.
18:33All I have left to do is add on the turtleneck collar.
18:36I'm definitely feeling a lot better than I was before.
18:47Good morning, designers.
18:48Good morning.
18:49All right, in 30 minutes, your models will be in.
18:51You'll have 30 minutes to prep them for the runway.
18:54And then we're going down to the runway.
18:56And two people are going home.
18:59Work hard, everyone.
19:01Bye.
19:02Okay.
19:04It is really stressful with the double elimination.
19:07The pressure's definitely on.
19:08Yay!
19:09Hey!
19:10We're going to put on the skirt first.
19:11Oh!
19:12Hey!
19:13And right now I'm just hemming it.
19:14And then we can put you in.
19:15Out.
19:16Okay.
19:17I like that.
19:18Yeah.
19:19I do need to fix that.
19:20As I'm getting my model dressed, I notice the bottom doesn't fit as well as I thought it was going to be.
19:35I was not expecting it to look to the last minute, but I am.
19:40I'm so ready for her to walk the runway because I love this look.
19:44It's sporty.
19:45I like it.
19:46I noticed Jackson's look and it is a hot mess express.
19:50It looks like he was designing for like Neil Armstrong's like drag persona or something.
19:55Ooh, it looks good.
19:58You look like you look like you're going to school.
20:01Your butt looks fabulous.
20:03Victoria's look is really bad.
20:05It's poorly done.
20:06Nothing fits right.
20:08And Jesse's skirt is cute, but his top is so bulky and ugly.
20:15The designers and models, we're headed down to the runway everyone.
20:20Model me please.
20:22I'm nervous for the runway.
20:24It's crazy to think that two people are going to be going home today.
20:27I mean, I hope my look is good enough, but honestly, it could be anyone.
20:32All right.
20:33Lively room.
20:34Bring on the runway.
20:36The winner of Project Runway Junior will receive a full scholarship to the prestigious FIDM in California,
20:46a complete home sewing and crafting studio provided by Brother, a feature in Seventeen Magazine,
20:51and a $25,000 cash prize to help launch their line.
21:04Hello, everybody.
21:05Hi.
21:06Welcome to the runway.
21:09Fashion is a tough industry.
21:11One day you're in, and the next day you're out.
21:15Bridget, you won the last challenge, so you cannot be eliminated.
21:19Goodbye.
21:20For this challenge, you are to design for a girl on the go.
21:25As the First Lady told you, the winner of this challenge will get to work with Land's End to design a backpack.
21:32So let's say hello to our wonderful judges.
21:35First, we have fashion designer, Christian Siriano.
21:38Hello.
21:39Fashion critic and fashion designer, Kelly Osborne.
21:43Hi, designers.
21:45Hi.
21:46And fashion director for Seventeen and Cosmopolitan magazines, Aya Kanai.
21:53And we also have Tim Gunn here for the runway show.
21:57And as you know, Tim won't be judging your looks, but he does have one Tim Gunn save.
22:02That means that if at some point in the competition he disagrees with us, he can bring the eliminated designer back.
22:10Okay, it's time for the show. Let's do this.
22:17My look is walking down the runway. I can't help but just to smile and feel really proud of myself.
22:21She looks very cool.
22:23Definitely every single piece that my model is wearing, not only what I wear, but I would love to see everybody else wear.
22:33Seeing my look come down the runway, I'm definitely seeing a lot of the school elements.
22:37However, I think that there might be a bit too many.
22:40I think that the judges will definitely pick on me about that.
22:43I love my look coming down the runway. You know, the black dress is beautiful, that faux flannel is perfect, and the styling is on point.
22:55I'm feeling really good about my look walking down the runway. I think she's cool. I definitely see how she's going to school.
23:07I just think I put a lot of thought into my look. I love how I added the detail in the back of the shirt and the bag. It's way better from my original idea.
23:17I'm so happy with how it turned out. My vision came through exactly how I wanted it to.
23:27I'm just really proud of it. I think it really shows who I am and really shows my personality.
23:32As I see my look come down the runway, I'm pleasantly surprised. Everything just looks so much better on a living, walking model.
23:44It's the only really long ball gown on the runway, so I think that that will automatically make me stick out.
23:55I feel amazing seeing my look coming down the runway.
23:59I love how the white vest kind of opens up and then you can see the romper underneath.
24:16I'm so proud when I see my look come down the runway. I think that it really shows who I am as a designer, and I was able to take my personal aesthetic and combine it into this sporty look.
24:27And I look at the judges' faces, and I think they like it too, so I'm just really happy.
24:36Oh my gosh, it flows so beautifully. It looks like an amazing waterfall or river, and I just love the way that it's working, and I think it's a very dramatic moment.
24:47She's very ladylike, but she still has that sex appeal that's not overly sexy.
25:02That was a great runway show. We continue to be impressed by all of you.
25:14If I call your name, please step forward.
25:18Maya, Victoria, Zachary, Jessie, Jackson, Katie, please step forward.
25:37If I have not called your name, congratulations, you're safe.
25:45You all can leave the runway.
25:54The Lord is good.
25:56I'm really happy that I'm not going home.
25:58Having the group go down from 10 to 8, that's a huge jump, and whoever leaves is going to be missed.
26:06The six of you have the highest and lowest scores.
26:09One of you will be named the winner.
26:11Unfortunately, two of you will be out.
26:13Coming up on Project Runway Junior.
26:16You had me at hello, I love it.
26:17Not cool enough for you.
26:18It just is very literal.
26:20This is clothing we want you to make fashion.
26:24The six of you have the highest and lowest scores.
26:26One of you will be named the winner, and two of you will be out.
26:30Let's bring out your models.
26:33The six of you have the highest and lowest scores.
26:36One of you will be named the winner, and two of you will be out.
26:40Let's bring out your models.
26:48Zachary, tell us about your girl on the go and your look.
26:51So, my girl is the party animal.
26:54She's the one that's always on different events, and so I designed for, like, something that's very high-end, like an after-party or on the red carpet.
27:03I love the dramatic kind of whoosh that you got right when she turned the corner.
27:07I thought you had me at hello.
27:08I love it.
27:09I love the color combination, and I love that it kind of hung underneath it, so it's like, is it a cape?
27:15Is it an overlay?
27:16What is it?
27:17And that was my favorite part.
27:19To me, I look at this, and I see a young, sophisticated woman at a party who knows what she wants and is ready to take on the world.
27:26You're thinking about what is a modern take on dressing for evening.
27:32The way that you play with proportions is clearly very interesting.
27:36I love that you keep it a little bit more simple in the front, and then you have that moment in the back.
27:41She looks fabulous.
27:43Jackson, tell us about your look.
27:46Alrighty, so I had sporty, and so I have this metallic romper underneath this kind of jersey, like a basketball jersey kind of style vest overdress.
27:56I was a little confused at this look.
27:59I wasn't really sure if she was sporty or not.
28:02Could she remove the little top?
28:04I just don't know if it's something that she would be comfortable or supported.
28:08I think we kind of missed the idea of where she was going, what she was doing.
28:13You know, a drawstring would have made such a difference because, you know, you're moving around a lot.
28:18And to tie in the top jacket to it, you should have put, like, a great big silver zip in it so that it tied it together.
28:25You embrace a sense of drama.
28:29That said, it feels like more costume than fashion.
28:34I know where you're going with this. I think you just missed the mark a little bit.
28:38Okay.
28:39Jesse?
28:40Um, so my girl is going to school.
28:43And with school, I think that people want to be comfortable, and they want to look good.
28:48Every week, we are ready to be wowed by you.
28:54This is clothing, and we want you to make fashion.
29:00Like, this is actually a school uniform.
29:05My school uniform skirt was exactly like that, with a red sweatshirt.
29:10It just is very literal.
29:12But your tailoring is really, really good.
29:16Yeah, that skirt's perfect. Like, it looks amazing.
29:18The top, because it's that cotton and it's pink, it's not cool enough for you.
29:24You're way cooler than this.
29:27Hmm.
29:28Thank you, Jesse.
29:30Haydee?
29:31The idea with this is that, you know, you can wear it with flats and go to Bali, or wear heels with it and go clubbing in New York.
29:37So I just created a tunic with an open back, and the contrasting print is on the inside of it, too.
29:45It's just amazing.
29:47Again, you make me like things that my personal sense of style wouldn't normally like.
29:53To see how you take a fabric that was a little bit intimidating, and the way that you mock it up, it's really exceptional.
30:03You kind of picked a textile that kind of felt like you traveled somewhere.
30:07You went to, you know, a market in Qatar and found this textile and made it from that.
30:13So I kind of like that feeling of this.
30:16It's kind of my dream print, honestly.
30:18I would wear it, like, today.
30:20Thank you, Patey.
30:21Victoria.
30:22So my girl on the go is going to school.
30:25I went with a knit short, and I just think it's really comfortable.
30:28And then I did a detail on the back, and that was, like, a really focal point.
30:33Why did you hide the details?
30:35I know.
30:36It's...that's my one regret.
30:38I don't think that you were as innovative as you could have been, which is kind of why I'm a little underwhelmed.
30:43I want to see something else from you.
30:46I want to see you work with color.
30:48I think that if you stepped out of your comfort zone a little bit, you'd be surprised and sheltered what you can do.
30:53Absolutely.
30:54Victoria, this is just purely inappropriate for the category that you were given.
31:01If you went to school wearing this, you'd be sent home because it's too short.
31:07Mya.
31:08So I got the sporty girl on the go, and I made this sort of asymmetrical jacket top piece with a sports bra under it and these, like, metallic fitted pants.
31:21It's almost like Helmut Lang, Alexander Wang, and Lululemon had a baby.
31:26Yeah.
31:27They do a lot of these type of zippers, and I love that you can zip it all the way up.
31:34It changes the entire look. It's like a little turtleneck now.
31:37Yeah.
31:38It didn't feel like just athletic wear. I hate athletic wear. I'm so over it.
31:42And I feel like this feels a little bit more like clothes that you would want to wear.
31:47As a fashion editor at a magazine, we would shoot this for the magazine, and we would all want to personal order it.
31:54Thank you so much.
31:56Okay, we've enjoyed talking with you. You can leave the runway.
32:08Hi!
32:09Hello!
32:10How did it go?
32:12Good.
32:14Hi, everyone.
32:15Hello.
32:18How fabulous job did they do?
32:20It's making this really hard.
32:21I know.
32:22Okay, well, let's start with Patey's look.
32:26Love it. Fabulous. I want to feel it.
32:29It's a beautiful fabric.
32:31And she double-backed it.
32:33Yeah, and she lined it and everything. Like, her construction is really great.
32:37I love that it's separate as well, so you can have fun with it.
32:40For sure.
32:41But where she chose to put each part of the print makes sense to the shape of the body.
32:46Everything is in the right place.
32:48I can really see how Patey's confidence is, you know, evolving with each week.
32:53And she's really rising to each challenge.
32:57Maya's look.
32:58I love this girl.
32:59Me too.
33:00I just think that she's really good and she's young, but like...
33:03Did she make the sports bra?
33:04Yeah.
33:05So talented.
33:06It's so interesting that she really knows how to construct clothes.
33:10There is not one bump in this at all.
33:13Look at this shape. It has full dimension to it. It's incredible.
33:17I feel like she's nailing it every challenge of just understanding the challenge.
33:21Where we get it, that this was sporty.
33:24Yeah.
33:26Zachary's look?
33:28It's so fun. And it looks like it's fun to wear.
33:32Because he has just the right amount of skin and the décolletage showing without going too far in the sexy zone, it's classic and it's beautiful.
33:39I mean, a slim, black, high-waisted pant...
33:44Fabulous.
33:45...which is beautifully fit, is something that you could wear every day.
33:49I love the idea of doing a romper because that's a great way to take the sporty.
33:59Before we had the silver romper, we had a flat, lifeless, white dress.
34:05I said, Jackson, really? Sporty? What else is in your head?
34:10He said, a whomper. And he got all excited.
34:13Can you take the jacket off and can I see the back of it?
34:16Like, where is this girl? Like...
34:20It's like a sporty superhero.
34:22I think that he kind of needs to, like, find a way to, like, bring it down to earth.
34:29When it comes to his tailoring, he's phenomenal.
34:33He is. Phenomenal.
34:35But when it comes to his actual designing, it falls flat.
34:39I mean, these are the same colors he showed us on a white dress last week.
34:43The skirt is actually made really well, though.
34:45I love the skirt. It's matching it with fuchsia with a security guard shoulder pad.
34:51I just don't see fashion here.
34:53There's not much here. No, for sure. There's not much here.
34:55I just don't understand why you would come all the way to Project Runway to make this.
35:00Okay, let's take a look at Victoria's look.
35:03It's just not something, I mean, you could wear to school.
35:05No, definitely not.
35:06This is athletic wear. This is not school wear.
35:09It just looks too short.
35:10Victoria's voice is almost too strong.
35:14Loud and clean.
35:15Her voice is almost trapping her into this goth, all-black world.
35:20She needs to branch out a little bit more.
35:22Can you turn around?
35:23You guys, but also look at this.
35:25This is also cut completely uneven.
35:27Like, there is so much more shoulder blade here versus on this side.
35:30I would say she's not as technical.
35:33But the idea is great. The ideas are there, though.
35:36As hard as it is to send people home, it's a competition.
35:39So we have to do this.
35:42So do we all agree?
35:44Okay, let's bring them back.
35:55Designers, the six of you have the highest and lowest scores.
35:59One of you will be named the winner.
36:01And unfortunately, two of you will be out.
36:05Katie?
36:06Congratulations.
36:07You're the winner of this challenge.
36:08Oh, my gosh. Are you serious?
36:09Oh, my gosh.
36:10I'm so happy.
36:11Katie, that means you have immunity for the next challenge and cannot be eliminated.
36:15And you're going to be part two of you.
36:32And you're going to be partnering with Land's End to design a backpack.
36:37It's so amazing.
36:38All right.
36:39You're in.
36:40You can lead the runway.
36:41Thank you guys so much.
36:43I'm so happy right now.
36:45This is the thought of designing a backpack for Land's End and having them manufacture it
36:50and sell them.
36:51It's just like a crazy thing about.
36:53It's so amazing.
36:54Did you win?
36:55Yay!
36:56Yay!
36:57Yay!
36:58Yay!
36:59Yay!
37:00Yay!
37:01Yay!
37:02I'm going to buy your book bag.
37:03What do you want it to look like?
37:05Like, have you got ideas?
37:06Oh, it's going to be crazy print.
37:07Trust me.
37:08Yeah.
37:09I'm so happy.
37:10I'm going to buy it.
37:11Zachary, Maya, we loved your looks.
37:15You're both in.
37:16We can lead the runway.
37:17Thank you so much.
37:18Thank you so much.
37:19Victoria, Jessie, Jackson.
37:31Unfortunately, the two of you will be leaving us tonight.
37:36Jessie, your look was well made and you're an impeccable tailor.
37:43But it lacked creativity and innovation.
37:47It was clothing, not fashion.
37:51Jessie, I'm sorry you're out.
37:54I'm going to give you a hug.
37:59You did so good.
38:04I think that taking this leap into Project Runway Junior has definitely been one of the toughest experiences in my life.
38:14I'm out.
38:16You're lying.
38:17I'm out.
38:18You're lying.
38:19Are you kidding me?
38:20However, I'm really proud that I've met these people and that I, you know, really put my imprint on this competition.
38:28Thanks, guys.
38:29Victoria, you're a talented designer.
38:35You're a talented designer.
38:36And your aesthetic is very, very clear.
38:40But we think you really need to step out of your all black comfort zone.
38:45Jackson, you certainly know how to bring the drama.
38:49And we see your imagination in your clothes.
38:52But your taste level is questionable.
38:56Victoria, Jackson, one of you will be out.
39:04Jackson.
39:10You're in.
39:11Congrats.
39:12I'm sorry, Victoria.
39:13That means you're out.
39:14Thank you so much for this opportunity.
39:15It's been incredible.
39:16I'm going to give you a hug.
39:17Thank you so much.
39:18I'm going to take all of your advice and go home and use color.
39:36This experience has been so amazing and I'm so thankful.
39:40I'm like, don't cry.
39:41Don't cry.
39:42Don't cry.
39:43Hey, guys.
39:44I'm out.
39:45Aww.
39:46Being here, I'm just surrounded by so many different kids from so many different backgrounds.
39:51But we share the one same passion.
39:53I'm so sorry, Jessie.
39:55Don't do that.
39:56You're so talented.
39:57And that's really the hardest part of leaving.
40:00Hi, Tim.
40:01Jessie, Victoria, you're just extraordinary individuals.
40:05And the workroom won't be the same without you.
40:07So I have to send you both back to the workroom to clean up your spaces, okay?
40:12I think that I definitely have showed off my talent.
40:16I really worked my best and that's really all I did throughout all of these challenges.
40:22Just this time, it just didn't work out the best.
40:26But definitely very proud of myself.
40:28I feel like I'm just so driven and I have so many goals.
40:32Being here is just pushing me further along.
40:34My path to success.
40:36And you will definitely be seeing more of me in the future.
40:47Hello.
40:48Hi, Patti.
40:49Nice to meet you.
40:50Great job, Patti.
40:51You won the challenge that the first lady gave you.
40:55Bravo.
40:57Lenzen and everyone who will support Let the Girls Learn.
41:02Thank you so much.
41:03I'm going to leave you with a terrific team from Lenzen to develop your great idea.
41:09I never thought something like this would happen, honestly.
41:11I mean, I'm really excited.
41:13Thinking kind of like having all the continents look like they're merging together kind of to represent, you know, the cultures mixing and races mixing together.
41:22Great.
41:23That sounds fantastic.
41:24You know, every time that a backpack is sold, I'm making a difference in the world and making a change.
41:29It's so amazing to think about.
41:30Thanks so much.
41:31Can't wait to see the final product.
41:32Yeah, it'll be great.
41:33I'm just really excited for this opportunity.
41:35It was an awesome opportunity.
