00:00Previously on Project Runway Junior.
00:02For this challenge, you will be creating a versatile look,
00:05taking her from her daytime activity to a night out.
00:08I hate this.
00:09Why did I pick this ugly fabric?
00:11Can't she already go out and buy this?
00:13It's the least ambitious item in this room.
00:17It looks like she's ill.
00:18Oh.
00:19Panic, panic.
00:22Designers, overall, this was a great runway.
00:25I love this look, but I now associate with you.
00:29Whoever is wearing this is going to be the coolest chick in the club.
00:32Thank God.
00:32It feels a little done, a little dated.
00:35And we just want to always be seeing something new and different.
00:40Chelsea, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:42Oh my gosh.
00:44Renee, you're out.
00:45Can I go out with a bang?
00:46We'll have a little bit of a bitter aftertaste,
00:49like seeing something great leave.
00:51Amazing.
00:59Hello.
01:00Hello.
01:01Oh.
01:02Hi.
01:03Hi.
01:04Hi.
01:05Just had a little apprehensive.
01:06All right.
01:07Good morning, designers.
01:08Good morning.
01:09Good morning.
01:10As you now know, all of your challenges on Project Runway Junior are difficult, yes?
01:14Yeah.
01:15Well, this next challenge is going to be quite the stress test.
01:21Designers, I am delighted to introduce you to Justine Armour, Creative Director behind
01:27Secret Deodorant's new campaigns.
01:29Welcome, Justine.
01:30Hi.
01:31I am so excited that Secret is partnering with Project Runway Junior for this challenge.
01:35You know, Secret stands for women who are pretty brave, and today we would like you to help
01:46show that even though it's stressful when you're being an innovator, it's also worth it.
01:51Designers, this is your secret stress test.
01:53So designers, just like the pioneering women that Secret stands for, we're asking you to
01:58be pioneering designers on the forefront of fashion.
02:01So today, you will be making a look that lights up the runway, literally.
02:06You will incorporate LED and fiber optic light technology into your design.
02:12Oh my gosh.
02:13This is going to be great.
02:14Like, yes.
02:1510 out of 10.
02:165 out of 5 stars.
02:17Amazing.
02:18This is in my wheelhouse.
02:19I know how to do cool, edgy new stuff.
02:20I think I got this in the bag.
02:22With this inspiration in mind, we're going to get you to work, all right?
02:26You're going to have 30 minutes to sketch, and then we're going shopping at Mood, where
02:30you will have a budget of $350.
02:35That's, like, enough to buy a really expensive dog or, like, 500 pieces of 50-cent pizza.
02:42And you have one day for this challenge.
02:45So when we get back to the workroom from Mood, you're going to have to go, go, go.
02:49Yeah.
02:50All right?
02:51We're working like crazy on things we've never worked with before.
02:54How are we supposed to do it in just one day?
02:57Designers, from all of us at Secret, thank you for joining our campaign.
03:01As a little added thank you, we're going to send you a special surprise to help you combat
03:05the stress of this challenge.
03:07How nice.
03:08Good luck.
03:09Thank you very much, Justine.
03:10We will not disappoint.
03:14All right, designers, your sketching starts now.
03:19So I'm making this basic sheath dress, and I'm going to be incorporating the lines of, like,
03:25the bust, waist, hip, center front seam bias, and I'm going to be using fiber optic lights
03:30to show that.
03:35So I'm sketching a varsity jacket, and then I'm going to take the LED, like, wires and,
03:42like, make a picture on the back so that my model can turn the lights on and off.
03:46And then also I'm thinking of doing a really pretty, like, flowy skirt with lots of movement.
03:53I start sketching a low V-neck dress with the fairy lights at the bottom of the hem to
04:01almost create, like, a Alice in Wonderland-ish type dress.
04:05All right, designers, sketching time is up.
04:08Let's head off to mood.
04:10Woo!
04:11$350 budget.
04:24I'm making a fitted dress, and it lights up across her, like, body, like, kind of like
04:29that and goes down her leg.
04:31And then with the crepe, I'm going to pretty much make the same exact type of form,
04:35and then the drape over the back so you can't see the battery packs.
04:39Designers, you have 15 minutes remaining.
04:44Where's my size?
04:45What is it?
04:46I saw it a couple weeks ago.
04:47I've either been safe or low, and so I'd like to change that, and, like,
04:51now's the time to do that.
04:52Bang, bang.
04:53I'm going for, like, a really cool T-shirt, and it's going to have, like,
04:55a zipper in the front.
04:56It's going to be out of the embroidered mesh and put the fairy lights underneath.
04:59I'll take three yards of this.
05:01And then the bottom, I'm going to make a fitted black pant and do, like, the wire
05:05and sew that on in a really cool pattern.
05:07And then on top, like, a really flowy chiffon pant.
05:10How much is this again?
05:12Five minutes, everyone.
05:16I'm thinking about making a pleated skirt.
05:18I don't want to make it obvious that there's lights in her dress,
05:20so that's why I want to put them between the pleats.
05:23The fabrics that I try to find at Mood are sheer fabric, maybe organza,
05:28or maybe even lace, because I'm going to make a cool jacket
05:31that kind of covers up the whole outfit.
05:33All right, everyone.
05:34Let's head back to that work room.
05:36Oh, thank you, Mood.
05:37Thank you, Mood.
05:38Thank you, Mood.
05:47Double table!
05:50I love backpacks.
05:52I love...
05:54Deodorant, guys.
05:55This is a nice backpack.
05:56I like backpacks.
05:57I have, like, a pretty big backpack collection back at home.
05:59So why not have more backpacks?
06:00Do we get to keep the backpacks?
06:01Yeah!
06:02Oh, yay!
06:03So, yeah, I like backpacks.
06:04That was nice of them.
06:05That's a lot of fabric.
06:06Wow.
06:07Oh, my gosh.
06:08We see this table full of all of the LED lights that we can use in our designs.
06:11It's really cool to use all these, like, cool technology, and I'm so excited for this challenge.
06:32Hey, Tim.
06:33Hi.
06:34Secret promised you a surprise, and I am happy to deliver that surprise.
06:40Oh, my gosh.
06:41Surprises are the best.
06:42Except, like, jump scares, because I was, like, scared of me.
06:45Madison?
06:47Hi!
06:48No way!
06:50Please welcome Madison Maxie.
06:52Madison epitomizes the type of individual Secret is inspired by, and we are so thrilled to have you here.
06:58Welcome.
06:59It's so fun to be here.
07:01Oh, my God.
07:02Maddie Madison Maxie helped create Zach Pozen's LED light collection.
07:05Like, she's here to help us out.
07:06Wow.
07:07Today, I'm here to assist in any way that I can to make sure that your looks are ready to light up the runway.
07:14And we're thrilled to have you here.
07:16We're very, very lucky.
07:17I know you'll take advantage of the Brothers Sewing and Embroidery Studio for this challenge.
07:21And I will see everyone later, all right?
07:24I'm leaving you in superb hands here.
07:26Okay?
07:27All right.
07:28Bye, everyone.
07:29See you later.
07:30I will be here all day, so if you guys have any questions.
07:33I have a question.
07:34Can you come to me right now?
07:35Yeah.
07:36Okay.
07:37So this is my design.
07:38You can have the DL, because I think it's really good.
07:40So I want to make this, like, varsity jacket, and I want to do, like, flashing designs.
07:43Is that, like, a plausible idea?
07:45I think that's very cool.
07:46Okay, cool.
07:47Thank you!
07:53No!
07:54The serger cut my fabric!
07:56Um, okay.
07:57A coat out of lace with those colors is gonna look like Golden Girls' Grandma Couch.
08:09I don't even know who the Golden Girls are.
08:11I love the Golden Girls.
08:12It's my favorite show.
08:13Oh, my God.
08:14I think I would be, like, a combination of Blanche and Rose.
08:17I appreciate the Golden Girls, but I don't think the judges would.
08:19Why did you pick these two colors together?
08:21Because they're cute.
08:22It's Old Lady Purple and Grandma Blue.
08:24These color choices are scary.
08:26You're making me feel bad now.
08:27I purposely chose these colors because I didn't want anything to distract from the lights that
08:32are gonna be shown once the runway goes dark.
08:34Molly, do you agree with me?
08:35Does this look like an Old Lady Purple?
08:36Yeah.
08:37Yes.
08:38Whatever.
08:41Now everyone in the workroom is telling me that my design looks like an old lady,
08:45and Renee just got sent home for making a design for an older woman,
08:49so I'm not trying to go home for the same reason.
08:53I don't know what to do anymore, then.
08:54Just do what you were doing before, just in the purple, use the black.
08:57Black?
08:58Okay.
08:59I feel bad for making you think the purple's ugly.
09:01Um, I feel bad, too.
09:02I'm not feeling like I have enough time because I still have to figure out these lights,
09:06and I have no idea how much time this is gonna take.
09:09Starting over this shirt could be a really huge mistake.
09:15Coming up?
09:16Just basic dress.
09:17It's basic.
09:18You need to get rid of this.
09:19What the frick?
09:20One concerned with economies of labor.
09:23I have no idea what he's talking about.
09:25Hey, how's it going?
09:38Hey.
09:39Um, it's going good.
09:40I just have, like, a lot to do.
09:42I have to, like, make an entire train and put lights on it, and I haven't started.
09:46I'm, like, super happy that I have immunity because this challenge is the hardest challenge
09:51in Project Runway history.
09:53Because you're hiding the battery packs around the side, right?
09:56Yeah.
09:57So you can have more of this, like, coiled up around the battery pack.
10:01Oh.
10:02Okay, okay.
10:03We literally have to make an LED amazing phenomenal wearable dress in 10 hours.
10:09Like, what the frick?
10:12Yeah.
10:15The lights are not the easiest to work with because the ones that I'm using don't really
10:19bend as much as I would like them to.
10:22And you have to be really careful with them so you don't, like, electrocute yourself.
10:26Cartier.
10:27Hmm?
10:28I love it.
10:29Yeah?
10:30It looks so good.
10:31So my strategy for getting the lights on is just completely hand sewing them.
10:34I know that if I use tacky glue, it's probably going to look a mess because I have sausage fingers.
10:39So if I touch it, it's going to go everywhere.
10:42How's it going?
10:43Good.
10:44I found fairy lights that match each and every one of these.
10:47What are you thinking of hiding the battery packs?
10:50I think I'm going to make a bandeau to go underneath and just stick everything in her boobs.
10:53I've seen, like, girls eat french fries out of their boobs.
10:55Lukewarm.
10:56Like, when you're done at McDonald's but you still got the fries so you put it in your bra and
10:59you eat it when you're shopping.
11:00So, like, why not?
11:01The battery's there.
11:02My friends are gross.
11:03Hey, Mr. Tim.
11:04Hey, Tim.
11:05Hi.
11:06Hi.
11:07Very eager to check in with you.
11:08I can't wait to see what you're doing.
11:10How's Tyler?
11:11Mr. Tim?
11:12Explain away.
11:13I just want to make this, like, just basic dress.
11:15It's basic.
11:16Yes.
11:17However.
11:18However.
11:19Like, I want to show, like, all the work that goes into it, like, that you may not see.
11:24So it's like a dress skeleton.
11:25Yes.
11:26Yes, sir.
11:27Basically.
11:28This is just the back right now.
11:29You need to do something on the back.
11:30I wanted to create kind of, like, a whimsical dress.
11:34And I wanted it to still be sophisticated.
11:36I did the chiffon overlay.
11:38You need to get rid of this.
11:39Okay.
11:40You do.
11:41Okay.
11:42Akai, what are you busily doing here?
11:45Well, right now I am pinning up, like, my piping.
11:49And then doing this, like, faux, like, lace-up effect.
11:52Then that's where I'm going to have, like, the Xs.
11:55With this crisscross, why are you using the blue and not this?
12:00I don't really know.
12:03When you have that long, sinuous, curling line, it's going to be really hard to control.
12:11I thought this tape also might be easier to work with.
12:15What tape?
12:16The tape that I just found.
12:18Oh, that's not going to hold.
12:19Scotch tape isn't sticky, so it's, like, it's for paper.
12:24Please don't use that.
12:25At this point in the day, I'm concerned with economies of labor.
12:31I have no idea what he's talking about, like, at all.
12:34Does that mean time?
12:35It means let's work hard and work smart.
12:37Okay.
12:38All right, Akai, thank you.
12:40Paula.
12:41How are you?
12:42Oh, hi, Tim.
12:43Tell me about your progress so far.
12:44Well, I actually made a whole different shirt.
12:46You did?
12:47It was purple color.
12:48But someone told me that it looked like an old lady.
12:53You know what it is?
12:54It's these pastels in Go Berry Golden Girls.
12:57That's what I said.
12:59That was my exact words.
13:00Oh.
13:01Oh, thank God, because I thought you were going to say it was good.
13:03Because you thought that an old fart would think that a Golden Girls look is great.
13:07No, I'm totally with you.
13:10This is much stronger, much more sophisticated.
13:12Good.
13:13Thank you, Chris.
13:14No problem.
13:15Okay, so the lights are exposed.
13:18Mm-hmm.
13:19This isn't very pretty.
13:20It's not.
13:22Yeah.
13:23You want there to be a wow factor when your model walks out in full light.
13:28And then you want an additional level of wow when the lights are visible.
13:33I'm going to say this to all of you.
13:35There are only nine of you left.
13:37So it is a competition.
13:39And ideally, I would like none of you to leave, but my save is gone.
13:43So I have no control when it comes to the judging.
13:46And someone's going to go.
13:48So you need to really push this.
13:51I can totally do that.
13:54I will never in my life, after this challenge, make light dresses, light shirt, light pants, whatever.
14:01It's unnecessary.
14:03Just wear your regular clothes.
14:04You don't need them to glow.
14:05Oh, well, thank you.
14:06Thanks, Tim.
14:08Hi, Tim.
14:09How are you, Chris?
14:10I am amazing.
14:11Good.
14:12I love what's happening so much.
14:15Good.
14:16Talk to me.
14:17So I wanted to play with hard and soft.
14:19Because see, the fairy lights are really, like, dainty kind of looking.
14:22And then these are, like, harder.
14:24So I wanted to do these under, like, a hard fabric.
14:26This one will do, like, blue, yellow, and then green.
14:29Given how colorful everything is, do you really need multiple colored lights in this jacket?
14:37Could you go with just the red?
14:40Well, I just feel as though that look at how much is going on.
14:44I feel that the light could, in many ways, be a unifying effect that it could have.
14:50Bring it together?
14:51Yeah.
14:52As opposed to the whole thing being like a Christmas tree.
14:55Because this is, like, one of my favorite things I've ever done.
14:57Like, I don't want the lights to, like, push it over the edge into gross land.
15:00Right.
15:01And that's why I'm saying you have a very unique position here in that your lighting will actually bring you cohesion.
15:07Oh, does this not look cohesive, do you think?
15:09Oh, come on.
15:10I was hoping Tim was going to say, this is wow moment potential.
15:13You're going to win.
15:14But whatever.
15:15Do you think I should just do red underneath this?
15:17Would that be cool?
15:18I think you should consider it.
15:19Usually I take Tim's advice and may or may not use it this week.
15:24I agree with what he said.
15:25I'm going to just use the red on the jacket and on the pant.
15:28I'm really excited for this runway.
15:30I can tell.
15:31I want to win so bad.
15:32That's the spirit.
15:33All right, you have a lot of work to do.
15:34I do.
15:35Carry on, Chris.
15:36Thank you, Tim.
15:38Hello, Tim.
15:39Hello.
15:40So I had, like, this, like, epiphany and I was like, I saw these lights and I was like,
15:44these remind me exactly of, like, neon signs.
15:46So I spent the day, like, embroidering almost the back.
15:55Do you not like it?
15:56Do you think that it looks, like, cheap almost?
15:58The word I'll use is wacky.
16:00Wacky?
16:01I like it a lot.
16:02It can't just be about the jacket.
16:05You can't throw together, like, an LED look at the last minute and hope it looks okay.
16:09So I think Izzy's in trouble.
16:10You've heard me say a number of times, this is, there are only nine of you.
16:14Absolutely, yeah.
16:15And it's, it's very, very, very competitive.
16:19I'm worried about you.
16:22Coming up.
16:23I'm not saving my cry.
16:24Oh, my God.
16:25I just don't know what I'm gonna do.
16:26Broke.
16:27I'm, like, so stressed out.
16:36It can't just be about the jacket.
16:37And I want to have the skirt, like, have lots of movement so it'll be also about the skirt.
16:41So then do piping, like, around the edges.
16:43And what is the skirt made out of?
16:45Um, my hopes and dreams.
16:48Oh, no, no, no.
16:49Let's be, let's be realistic here.
16:51You have a ton of work to do.
16:53Yeah.
16:54All right.
16:55After the critique, I'm kind of, like, frazzled.
16:58I just don't know what I'm gonna do.
17:01Hurry on, Izzy.
17:05All right, designers.
17:07From this point forward, you have a little more than three hours.
17:11Okay?
17:12That's right.
17:13Economies of labor, everyone.
17:15Three hours?
17:16All right.
17:17Thank you, everyone.
17:18It went by way faster than I thought it would.
17:22Oh, what the heck?
17:23Izzy, why are you yelling?
17:26After Tim's critique, I plan on using the lights in the skirt under the blue and having them fading into different colors, basically the rainbow.
17:33So instead of putting them outside of the pleats now, I'm gonna have it underneath because Tim thought it would look better.
17:39Can I see what they look like in their eyes?
17:40Yeah.
17:41I'm looking around at everyone else's things and they're, like, crazy colors and they have patterns and stuff.
17:45But I didn't want to use patterns because I want the lights to basically make a pattern for me.
17:50I think Tim was right.
17:52Mm-hmm.
17:54Ooh, y'all looking good.
17:56And this is what the top layer looks like.
17:58It's kind of different than that one.
17:59And it backs out like this.
18:01You better do your thing, dude.
18:03Okay, that looks totally cool.
18:05I love it.
18:08So here's the skirt.
18:10And here's the underskirt.
18:12So I'm thinking just walk out, like, with just this lit on.
18:15And then, like, when you're at the end of the runway, you can turn all three on.
18:17So it's really surprising.
18:18And when my model comes in, I pretty much just put the jacket on her to see how it looked.
18:23Okay, this is really cool.
18:25I don't really have that much done. I'm sorry.
18:27No worries.
18:28I haven't even started the skirt and I'm about to die.
18:32I haven't finished the jacket yet either.
18:34So pretty much I just need to work through the model fitting.
18:37I have nothing done.
18:39I think I spelled neck wrong for some reason.
18:41You spelled neck wrong?
18:42I think so.
18:43I'm telling you, mom.
18:45Bye!
18:46Bye!
18:47Bye, everyone!
18:48Allie.
18:49Yeah?
18:50Would you rather have a wild, amazing romance with Zac Efron for three months or find an okay, decent guy to spend your whole life with?
19:09Um, I'm 14.
19:12And I'm busy right now.
19:15She's busy.
19:16I've been hand sewing for hours.
19:18I'm definitely stressed.
19:19I love what I'm doing.
19:20I just, I don't have the time to execute everything the way I want.
19:23There's an hour left.
19:24Pants aren't done and I have a bunch more sewing to do on the shirt tomorrow.
19:27With an hour left in the day, I'm feeling behind because I was spending a lot of time trying to hide the battery pack.
19:35How I'm hiding it is, it's like what the silk Georgette fabric I'm using.
19:39I'm draping it in the back so you can't see it.
19:42And I think it is a clever way to do it.
19:45I still have a lot to do and I really need to get working on the bottom of my design.
19:52I've never not had any like this little done before.
19:55I'm using this black athletic fabric for the skirt.
19:58I'm going to give it slits all around each piece and then put like piping on it with the LED wires.
20:04This looks really bad right now, doesn't it?
20:06I'm just super worried about construction because it's really wonky and I just don't know if I will have enough time to finish everything that I want to do.
20:14Alright guys, looks like it's time.
20:16I'm not ready.
20:18I'll fix that later.
20:27Welcome to the Butter London glam room.
20:29I'm going to start with some Butter London liquid liner.
20:32And pair it with darling.
20:34Come to bed red.
20:36Gorgeous.
20:38A little sparkle.
20:39Your eyes are going to glow like the dress.
20:44This morning, I'm like pushing it hardcore.
20:48I'm like this needs to be done.
20:49Stitch, stitch, glue, glue.
20:50I'm going.
20:51We have an hour, right?
20:52Yes.
20:53An hour until...
20:54We die.
20:55Otherwise, stay dead.
21:00Okay, look.
21:01I know you have a lot of work to do.
21:03This is going to be a very busy morning.
21:05Using your direction, your models have been to the Butter London beauty studio for their makeup and to our hair studio for final touches.
21:12Alright.
21:13When your models get in, you'll have 30 minutes to prep them for the runway.
21:17Alright, I will be back later to collect you for the runway.
21:21So work hard, work quickly and work smart.
21:24Alright, I'll see you a little later.
21:26Bye.
21:27Thanks, Tim.
21:28Bye.
21:29Why is this happening?
21:30I better be safe.
21:31If I'm not safe, I'm going to cry.
21:33Hello, I want to win.
21:34I want you to win.
21:35I'm feeling pretty good.
21:36I think I could win this.
21:37My look is strong because it's a really new take on hard and soft.
21:40It's different from everyone else's.
21:42I feel like it's definitely fashion forward.
21:44It's weird.
21:45It's so me.
21:46It's just really cool.
21:47You guys are already here?
21:51Wait, what?
21:52What?
21:53Oh crap.
21:54I had to hot glue all these on, lol.
21:56They have an adhesive back, so it's fine.
21:59A day in the life of a fashion designer.
22:02So Tim was like, oh, you should probably add something to the back.
22:05And I'm like, if I have time, I totally will.
22:07I'm up.
22:08If we would have had like an imaginary extra day, I probably would have put stuff on the back.
22:13But I'm happy with what I have.
22:15Is adjusted.
22:16I feel like R2B2's girlfriend.
22:18You know what I'm talking about.
22:21No, I'm not a Star Wars fan.
22:23Oh my God.
22:24No.
22:25Don't tell me.
22:26Oh Lord.
22:27Please don't.
22:31Am I killing you?
22:32Okay.
22:33I'm not really sure about Hawa's look.
22:35That's cute.
22:36There's just a lot going on, but yet it's not got enough of the lights and too much of the fabric.
22:42It broke.
22:43One of the prongs broke off, but it's still lighting, so.
22:52No, it's not.
22:53Crap.
22:54And this is the long one.
22:55The most important light broke.
22:57And I'm like flipping out.
22:59Okay.
23:00Let's rip this off.
23:01Even see if it's going to rip off.
23:03I have to retape all that.
23:05So I have to hot glue on a complete new strip.
23:07Wait.
23:08Oh, I have an idea.
23:09Oh no.
23:10This is the part that broke off.
23:11Izzy, do you have anything like this or no?
23:12No.
23:13Okay.
23:14Claudia, do you have anything like this?
23:16No.
23:17Okay.
23:18I got to get these LEDs done.
23:19It's the whole point of the challenge.
23:21I'm like so stressed out.
23:22Like why is this happening?
23:24Chelsea, do you have any more of these?
23:25I only have two.
23:26Are you using them?
23:27Only one of them actually has a pack.
23:29So I will take this one.
23:31You're welcome.
23:32All right, designers and models.
23:44We're headed down to the runway everyone.
23:46Wow.
23:47This looks really good.
23:48I am so into this dress that I'm dreaming about it.
23:50Cause I think I could possibly finally be on the top.
23:53It's going to be a fabulous show.
23:54I can't wait.
23:55I'm not ready for this.
23:57Do you have all your jewelry?
23:58Yep.
23:59It's in my pocket.
24:00I just want to be safe at this point.
24:02Izzy, come.
24:03I'm finished.
24:04With ya.
24:05Good.
24:06Good, good, good.
24:07All right.
24:08Off we go.
24:09Eww.
24:10Hello, everybody.
24:11Hi.
24:12Welcome to the runway.
24:13You know the drill.
24:14In fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
24:17For this challenge, you were to create an innovative look using a dress.
24:21LED and fiber optic light technology.
24:22We gave you one day and $350 to create your looks.
24:23Chelsea, you won the last challenge.
24:24So you have immunity and cannot be eliminated.
24:26And we are halfway through the competition.
24:27So that means after tonight, there will be no more immunity.
24:28Let's say hello to our amazing judges.
24:29First, we have CFDA designer.
24:30We are halfway through the competition.
24:31So that means after tonight, there will be no more immunity.
24:32Let's say hello to our amazing judges.
24:34First, we have CFDA designer, Christian Siriano.
24:49Hey guys.
24:50Hi.
24:51Fashion critic, author and designer herself, Kelly Osbourne.
24:57Hello, designer.
24:58And fashion director for Cosmopolitan and Seventeen magazines, Aya Kanay.
25:01and Seventeen Magazine's Aya Kanai.
25:04Hi.
25:05Hi.
25:06Also, we brought this guy Tim to come watch the Runway show.
25:10He is your mentor and he will not be judging your looks,
25:13as you guys know.
25:14As you also know, Tim used his save.
25:16No more freebies, guys.
25:18All right, it's time for the show.
25:24Wow.
25:25I love what I did.
25:26The top is so cool.
25:27The dress is amazing.
25:29She's a cool girl.
25:30The light's dim and her top's glowing
25:32and her dress becomes pants.
25:34I'm obsessed.
25:35I would wear that jacket in a second.
25:36Right?
25:37I think the judges are going to like it.
25:39It's like my best work I've ever done, ever.
25:41And so if they don't like it, then I should leave.
25:46I am so thrilled when I see my dress come down the runway.
25:49I've managed to make something that I'm really, really proud of.
25:53I think that I've kind of pushed it and gone out of the box
25:55a little bit.
25:56I wanted to show the judges that I'm not a boring designer.
25:59I can do something that's really fun and really cool.
26:05I am very happy with my look.
26:06And when the lights off, I think it makes it look even better.
26:10I think my original vision definitely did come through.
26:12And I think it looks better than I imagined.
26:18I totally think that this represents me as a designer.
26:21My look is so stunning on stage.
26:23Obviously, you can tell that the skirt is weird, but the jacket is just so, so, so cool.
26:29In case you didn't know who made it.
26:31I'm like, this is really cool.
26:33This is what I wanted.
26:35This is the concept that I came up with.
26:37And I'm very happy with the way I executed it.
26:41Like, it just looks really cool.
26:42I am so proud of what I've been able to accomplish in this challenge.
26:50Seeing my look finally finished, I wish the lights were a little bit brighter, but this
26:55is what I really wanted.
26:56I love it.
26:57I'm really impressed with what I could pull out in 10 hours with LED lights.
27:04I see it as the Stormtrooper 2.0 in my mind, so I did good.
27:11When I see my look come down the runway, I am so happy to see it.
27:17It is cute, it's glowing, it looks good, my construction's not that bad.
27:23I'm happy to see it and I hope the judges like it too.
27:28I really love how it turned out.
27:30I love the pink lights against the fabric.
27:33It's just so pretty and it almost creates like a kaleidoscope look.
27:37I think I would've liked to push it even farther, but given the amount of time, I think I really
27:41produced something good.
27:43Well done, you guys.
27:46This is really difficult and you guys really impressed me.
27:49And I think that that is kind of the future of fashion going forward.
27:52So it's great.
27:53You guys got a chance to try.
27:57Will the following designers please step forward?
28:00Cartier.
28:01Chelsea, Ally, will you step forward?
28:06If I have called your name, congratulations, you're safe.
28:12Chelsea, I have to say you're pretty lucky that you had immunity this week.
28:16The lights looked a little bit like an afterthought.
28:19Okay.
28:20The three of you are safe.
28:21You can leave the runway.
28:25That is the last thing anybody with immunity wants to hear.
28:28It's not the greatest feeling, but I just need to do better next week.
28:32I need to like bring Chelsea back.
28:34That sucks.
28:37I'm glad I'm safe.
28:39The rest of you have the highest and the lowest scores.
28:45One of you will be the winner of this challenge.
28:47And one of you will unfortunately be out.
28:53Coming up.
28:54I want to see like Rihanna in this.
28:56I love your brave and bold choice.
28:58Your garment looks a little sloppy.
29:00You've got more bubbling within you than what we see here.
29:05The winner of Project Runway Junior will receive a full scholarship to the prestigious FIDM in
29:10California, a complete home sewing and crafting studio, plus the Dream Machine, all courtesy
29:16of Brother, a feature in Seventeen Magazine, and a $25,000 cash prize to help launch their
29:23line.
29:24Also, Butter London will supply a year's worth of products and the opportunity to consult
29:29with Butter London to create a limited edition nail color collection.
29:33And styles from their finale collection will be manufactured by Los Angeles Development
29:37House, Lefty Production Company.
29:42The rest of you have the highest and the lowest scores.
29:45One of you will be the winner of this challenge, and one of you will unfortunately be out.
29:50Let's bring out your models.
29:51Tyler?
29:52My concept was like on the mannequin, like where you put like the lines for like the bust,
30:01waist, hip.
30:02So this is the center front seam, the green are the biases, shoulder pads.
30:07So you use the lights to show where you would normally put a dart or a pleat or an enhancement?
30:12Yes ma'am.
30:13Yeah.
30:14She looked very clean and modern walking down the runway, but can she turn to the back?
30:18I do wish that there was a little bit more excitement here.
30:21I love the simplicity of it.
30:23Because it's such a basic shape, it fits her like a glove.
30:26I think you are such a force to be reckoned with on this show.
30:29It's sexy.
30:30It's sleek.
30:31I love this look, Tyler.
30:32Yes.
30:33Bless up.
30:34It's a demonstration of your very high taste level.
30:38Molly?
30:39So for my look, I created a fashion-forward, whimsical dress.
30:43I thought the firefly lights really reflected good against the fabric, and then I traced them
30:49up along the dress around the neckline.
30:51I love your brave and bold choice of using a pattern like this.
30:55This was one of my favorite looks.
30:57I love these little extra straps that you've got on the arms and the back.
31:01This is one of the ones that I disagree on, although it's pretty and it's finished.
31:06I know that you've got more bubbling within you than what we see here.
31:11Izzy?
31:12I was really inspired by the idea of neon lights.
31:15When you see a neon sign, it kind of looks really cool and it's flashy and bright.
31:19And I'm also kind of playing with this idea that we're all asked to make a brand for ourselves
31:24and like who we are as designers like sporty chic or like boho anything.
31:31So I just did like my sprout because that's what everyone knows me as.
31:34Doing your name on the back, I thought that was so cute.
31:37I love the car wash skirt, but I do not understand that panel in the back.
31:42I think what's cool about this is that I just like the vibe of the girl.
31:46She's kind of street style and she has like a swagger to her.
31:50There is technical issues, but I think it's really smart that you're thinking about branding.
31:55Thank you so much.
31:56Okay.
31:57So I wanted to make a nice flowy, elegant dress.
32:00And then with the lights off, I wanted it to make it more interesting with the lights
32:03and like have like a crisscross pattern going on through the side.
32:06Everything else felt a little more techy.
32:08And I like that you went more romantic, but you just picked a fabric that really is showing every bit of the under construction.
32:17I think this is the best garment that you have shown us so far in the show.
32:22I think that it was really nice to see something so angelic.
32:26You know, I see good ideas here.
32:29I just don't see a finished product.
32:32So with that, can you tell us a little bit about how you manage your time?
32:36With the time, I mostly was trying to figure out where to place all the battery packs.
32:41After I finished that, then I started working on the real dress part.
32:45Basically what you're telling me is that the bulk of your time was focused on dealing with a problem that the four of us would never see.
32:52Yeah.
32:54If I do continue in the competition, I will definitely prioritize much better.
32:59Thank you, okay.
33:01Chris?
33:02So this week I wanted to play with hard and soft.
33:05I did like a take on like a jacket, but as a t-shirt, and I wanted to use the fairy lights with the harder fabric.
33:11And then on the bottom, I did the harder lights underneath the soft dress.
33:15I think the jacket's great. I love how you sprinkled the lights in.
33:19I want to see like Rihanna in this.
33:21When I first saw your model step out onto the runway, I was a little bit confused, so I automatically liked it.
33:27Now, seeing you standing in front of me, I'm obsessed.
33:31The best part about this look is definitely the jacket that has like a lot of charm and interest to it, but why all these things together?
33:40It's not supposed to go together, but it does because I put it together and I said it does, so that's why. And yeah.
33:46Okay, so for my look, I wanted to do something really cool and something that I would wear. And I didn't really want to use patterns because I thought it would distract from the lights underneath. So I just decided to go with these really cute colors and make it look hip and young.
34:03And I think how you styled it is kind of cool. I like that it's more street, but I just think after, you know, the last challenge when it was so exciting, I was ready for something really bold from you.
34:14It's a sweet look, but the lights do feel like a little bit of an afterthought.
34:19The lights underneath, I thought it was cool because it kind of looked like a rainbow.
34:22I disagree with the both of you. I really, really like this. I think it's really cute and fun.
34:29Thank you, Hala.
34:30Thank you, guys.
34:32We all had different opinions today, so this should be interesting.
34:35We're going to take a closer look at your designs and then we'll bring you back to the runway.
34:40Bye.
34:43Hi.
34:44What happened?
34:45No, we don't know if I'm at the top. I'm so confused.
34:47No one knows if they're at the top or bottom, I don't think.
34:49It was really confusing. Everyone had different opinions.
34:53Hello.
34:54Hi, Tim.
34:55So would you like to begin with Karina and Molly?
34:58Yeah.
34:59I think the print and the choice of color was really smart and she weaved these through.
35:05That's technically really amazing.
35:08I mean, I think she could have had more fun with the lights, but everything she does is
35:13finished and it's well done.
35:14Yeah.
35:17And we have G wearing Tyler.
35:19I like the modern aspect.
35:21It's simple. It's not screaming at you. It's just making a very simple statement.
35:26Let's not scream at you, Aya, at all. Turn to the back.
35:29There's nothing to show you.
35:32But I do still love this almost futuristic take.
35:35It goes to the same. He's a genius.
35:37Yeah.
35:38It's minimal, but it is beautiful.
35:42Juanita is wearing Chris.
35:44I'm obsessed with Chris. I can't help it.
35:46I feel much more strongly in a positive way towards this than I did when I saw it walk.
35:51I do like the jacket. I like the pants, but I just don't like this fabric.
35:56But, you know, he took the lights to a whole different place.
36:00Yes, he did.
36:01That's what this challenge is all about.
36:04And Yaw is wearing Izzy.
36:06The jacket's cute. I love that she thought about branding.
36:10There's something about her whole process that I love as a designer.
36:13She's so quirky and fun.
36:14I think that the strongest part about this look is that she took a painterly attitude towards the idea of lights.
36:20Totally.
36:23Ashley is wearing Akai.
36:25Ugh.
36:26Don't.
36:27Ugh. This is the best thing Akai's made so far.
36:29I agree with you. It's definitely better than what he's shown us, but I don't think it's enough.
36:33There is some beautiful elements here, but then the challenges, I think, really overshadow the beauty.
36:40It's kind of like he is still stuck on prioritizing the wrong things.
36:44Yeah.
36:45Sharika is wearing Hawa.
36:49Ugh. Sad.
36:50I hardly even see the lights.
36:52I don't know why, but there's something about it with better execution and a few more lights that I would have loved about this.
36:58Yeah.
36:59The skirt's not doing any, it's just, I don't know.
37:02The skirt is really rough.
37:04I mean, Hawa's designs are sweet and charming, and that's it.
37:08That's what they are. They're sweet and charming.
37:12Okay, so we are really all over the place today.
37:15We are.
37:16What's great about Chris's is that it's like everything in the kitchen sink.
37:20Yeah.
37:21And what's great about Tyler's is that reservedness.
37:23Yeah.
37:24And that's the two of their personalities.
37:26Yeah.
37:27But then we have little Molly who's a quiet killer.
37:29In terms of who's leaving us today, it's between Hawa and Akai.
37:32Every challenge we have seen him outmatched by his technical ability.
37:38Hawa.
37:39It's like there's this innocence about her. I want to love it, but then it also nips her in the bud sometimes.
37:45Have we made our decision?
37:47Yeah.
37:48The design of the six of you have the highest and the lowest scores. One of you will be the winner. And unfortunately, one of you will be out.
38:03The six of you have the highest and the lowest scores.
38:13One of you will be the winner, and unfortunately, one of you will be out.
38:19Chris, you are the winner of this challenge.
38:22Shut up!
38:23Oh my God.
38:24Good job.
38:26I thought I was leaving.
38:31I thought I was leaving.
38:34Oh God.
38:36Woo!
38:37You somehow turned us around on your look.
38:39You designed the people who dare to be different and not conform.
38:43And that is something I love seeing in you.
38:46So keep doing what you're doing.
38:48Chris, Molly, Izzy, Tyler, you are all in.
38:55You can all leave the runway.
38:56Bye.
38:58Congrats.
38:59Woo!
39:00Yay!
39:01I was at, like, such a low, like, in the last couple challenges.
39:04And, like, I think I really brought my momentum and positivity back.
39:08I won!
39:09I'm so proud of you!
39:11I'm so proud of you!
39:13Yay!
39:14I know.
39:15I'm so happy.
39:16I think the judges are starting to get what I'm doing.
39:19How does it feel?
39:20I mean, it's about time.
39:22Who are you!
39:23I'm so proud of you.
39:26I'm so proud of you!
39:27Okai, Hawa, one of you will be out.
39:32Okai, your garment looks undone.
39:37Hawa, your dress was too safe.
39:47Okay.
39:50I'm sorry, sweetie, you're out.
39:55Oh, no.
40:02Hawa, that means you're in.
40:03You can leave the runway.
40:05Thank you guys so much for the second chance.
40:07I really appreciate it.
40:12Akai, you are so talented.
40:14We're gonna miss you.
40:23Thank you so much for this opportunity.
40:25I'm sorry for letting you down.
40:27Don't you dare apologize.
40:28You're amazing. Don't.
40:30I am disappointed because I feel like I let Tim down.
40:36Hey, Akai, are you okay?
40:38You okay?
40:39Yeah, I don't need a hug.
40:40Oh, my God.
40:41Wait, no, no, no.
40:42We don't want you to go.
40:43What's wrong?
40:44Nothing.
40:45I have so much more to offer and I just had so much other things that I wanted to do and I wasn't able to do it.
40:54Well, as I told you all, that was a fabulous presentation on the runway and it's Project Runway musical chairs.
41:01Akai, I can't save you twice.
41:04I'd love to.
41:05I'm sorry that I let you down.
41:07You did not let me down.
41:08You did not let me down.
41:09As I've told you repeatedly, someone's gonna go.
41:12Okay?
41:13It's not a denigration of your qualities, of your abilities, and of your talent as a designer.
41:18And that's true for everyone in this room.
41:20All right.
41:21Bye, Akai.
41:23Bye, Akai.
41:24In the future, I definitely do want to be a fashion designer and I have my own label and brand.
41:31And after Carl Agafil dies, I want to run the house.
41:38Next time on Project Runway Junior.
41:42What?
41:43The fire!
41:44Your challenge is to create a date night look.
41:49Cannot be menswear.
41:51For the firefighter's wife or girlfriend.
41:54I'm gonna come and bother you until she's done.
41:58You intentionally place these here?
42:01Why?
42:02I want that dress.
42:04I'm not sure we have enough here.
42:06I'm feeling hot and spicy.
42:07No one can make him feel hot and spicy, so that's a big deal.
