00:00Previously on Project Runway Junior.
00:03Have you guys read the car wash?
00:05Wax off, wax off.
00:06No!
00:07This is an unconventional materials challenge.
00:10You're going to be using materials found right here
00:13at this car wash to create your looks.
00:17Oh, dear.
00:18Kind of a disaster.
00:19I might start crying.
00:20I might start screaming.
00:21That runway show blew us away.
00:30It really works.
00:31You made it look expensive.
00:32Zachary, you are the winner.
00:34You can see that she's being compressed.
00:36It gives off a bit of a trashy vibe.
00:38Isabelle, I'm sorry.
00:40You're out.
00:41Everybody wants to get in on this.
00:43I love you guys.
00:51Hi, designers.
01:04Hi.
01:05Look familiar?
01:07Yes.
01:08Fortunately so.
01:09The button bag.
01:11We see Hannah Davis walk out with the very dreaded button bag.
01:15So I'm very nervous to see what the bag has in store for my future.
01:20For your next challenge, you'll be working in two teams of five.
01:28I don't like team challenges because I am a perfectionist.
01:32Zachary, you won the last challenge.
01:35So you have immunity for this challenge and cannot be eliminated.
01:39Let's get started.
01:40When I call your name, please join me on the runway.
01:43Matt, you are the first member of your team.
01:46All right.
01:47Last week, that was a real wake up call for me.
01:51And I'm definitely going to try this challenge to prove to the judges that I have what it takes.
01:56The next name I call will be the first member of the second team.
02:00Victoria.
02:05Katie.
02:06And Matt's team.
02:08Zachary.
02:09I don't really want to work with Victoria.
02:11Her dress last week wasn't that strong in my opinion.
02:14And I definitely thought she should have been in the bottom.
02:17Jessie.
02:20Zach.
02:22Samantha.
02:23And Samantha's name gets called for our team.
02:25I'm super excited because she is an amazing designer.
02:28She thinks she's one of the best here.
02:30Jackson.
02:32Maya.
02:34Bridget, that means you're on this team.
02:37Designers, you have your teams.
02:38Tim and a guest will be waiting in your work room.
02:42Ooh, because it's a guest and you're like, ooh, mystery.
02:49Good morning, design teams.
02:51Good morning.
02:52It's your first team challenge.
02:54To help you get into this challenge, I am delighted to introduce you to DIY blogger and Simplicity representative, Mimi Goodwin.
03:01Welcome, Mimi.
03:02Hi.
03:03I'm so excited to be here today.
03:05Simplicity creates patterns that help you to sew successfully.
03:09When I was about seven years old, I only used Simplicity patterns because they're the easiest to follow.
03:14So I think that it's so cool that they are going to be a part of this challenge.
03:18You see this display behind Mimi and Me.
03:21It represents three decades.
03:23It's the 1940s, the 1950s, and the 1960s.
03:27You will also see a Simplicity pattern that represents each of these decades.
03:32Each design team is going to use one of these decades as a point of departure for a five-look cohesive collection.
03:42Oh, yes.
03:43Oh!
03:44I feel like these decades all have such distinct style.
03:47And I really want to work with the 40s decade because that was the beginnings of the Dior, Chanel kind of eras.
03:55And it's just such a strong time in fashion.
03:58You're taking your own youthful contemporary lens, bringing it to what is otherwise a vintage pattern.
04:05You're going to be creating your own pattern.
04:08And Simplicity is going to recreate and produce the winning pattern.
04:13Oh, my God.
04:14Oh, my God.
04:15Oh, my gosh.
04:16That is seriously the greatest prize ever.
04:18Just to see your design in patterns in stores all around the world, I think that's really cool.
04:24I'm going to pull one of your names out of our button bag, and that person's team will choose a decade first.
04:34That designer is Patey.
04:36Yay!
04:37So your team chooses first.
04:40The 60s.
04:41Even though I'm not, like, a hippie person, I feel like the 60s is starting to get into that bohemian kind of feel.
04:47So I think I can do something good with that.
04:50Our remaining team, discuss among yourselves and choose a decade.
04:53Forty.
04:54Forties.
04:55Forties.
04:56Yay!
04:57We got the forties.
04:58I mean, hallelujah.
04:59I'm prepared to take no more than two team members to mood.
05:03You will have a budget per team of $400.
05:07The team members who go will be in communication with the team members who remain here in the workroom via your phone.
05:16All right, design teams, you have 30 minutes to plan to sketch and to shop Mini Mood, which is now open.
05:23Okay, so head off.
05:31Hi, 1940s.
05:32So do we all have our pattern?
05:34How are we going to incorporate the menswear aspect into this?
05:37I feel like you would be, you could do that because you're really amazing at coloring.
05:41I feel like we do need to have that, like, bright, rich, deep kind of red.
05:45I feel like deep, rich colors are so gorgeous.
05:47Yeah, they are.
05:48Like, they're so, like, I think they capture the essence of, like, the forties well.
05:52What we should focus on more is the color palette as opposed to this whole A-line thing.
05:58No print.
05:59No print.
06:00What do you guys think of my design?
06:01I was inspired by, like, the red carpet of 1940s.
06:04One specific pattern catches my eye and I really want to recreate that look with my own twist.
06:10So I sketched this beautiful red dress and it's super gathered.
06:14It has some pleats and really beautiful, long, flowy sleeves.
06:18I feel like this should be, like, our inspiration for our thing.
06:22Like, you see how the colors, it's very warm, earthly colors.
06:25Samantha is taking a little bit more of the leadership position just because she's consistently been in the top.
06:31So I think Samantha leading this team will be great and lead us to success.
06:34I can make, um, a vest, too.
06:36And maybe to tie, like, this neckline in, like, these little, like, panels.
06:41I can do that.
06:42My original idea is to create a vest just because I think that it'll be really easy to modernize and I still think that it's really cool.
06:50I feel like we should make it mid-calf.
06:53We're focusing on something that a woman would wear going to the city in the 60s.
06:59So more A-line patterns and then we're just building off of that.
07:02So something very chic and upscale.
07:04Matt, do you like this?
07:06Yeah, no, no, no.
07:07Yeah, no, I'm totally fine.
07:08Yeah, we should have at least two pants, two skirts, one dress.
07:11Should we tell, like, a story in this collection?
07:13Like, should it be, like, day to night?
07:15Well, I feel like that's what collection's all about.
07:16So I think that I should definitely go to move because I'm familiar with the area?
07:19Yeah.
07:20Yeah.
07:21Should I go with you?
07:22Yeah, yeah, definitely.
07:23Who has the most knowledge of fabric and, like, fabric play and...
07:26I feel like you.
07:27I mean, I definitely know my fabric.
07:29Then you should go.
07:31Somebody needs to hold four down here because when we're going, we need to produce.
07:34You always need more time, though, because you always have, like, time issues.
07:37True.
07:38True.
07:39So then you two should go.
07:40Yeah.
07:41I feel like I freaked out a minute, so I'm just gonna say.
07:42All right, so, Zach, you can hold four down.
07:44Hold these two crazy kids.
07:46Keep them in line.
07:48All right, design teams, 30 minutes is up.
07:51Who's going with me to mood?
07:52We are.
07:53Okay.
07:54Oh, you and Zachary.
07:55Okay.
07:56We're working together a lot better than I thought we would.
07:59So if we can keep this up, I think that we'll be able to work together for the rest of the challenge really well.
08:04So we just get started?
08:05Yeah.
08:06Do you always drape your tops?
08:07Mm-mm.
08:08Do I usually pattern them out?
08:09Yeah.
08:10I'm just planning on getting the muslin copy of my design done and completed and ready for my fabric.
08:17I'm really interested to see what colors we got because we didn't talk about colors a lot.
08:21Yeah.
08:22I am a little concerned not being there to shop because it's like putting your trust in someone else's hands to make sure that they get the right materials for you.
08:39All right, design teams, you have 30 minutes and a budget of $400.
08:43So your time begins now.
08:45Choose any colors.
08:48Just the fabric has to be right.
08:51The only thing I'm worried about is half an hour to get fabric for five looks so we didn't even talk about it that much.
08:57When I like fold it back, the black would show.
09:00So should I just like cut this off and put like whatever color they got for me?
09:04Yeah.
09:05Do you like that for my dress?
09:06Darker, deeper.
09:07Yeah, I mean, no darker, I know.
09:08I'm so glad that I'm at mood rather than in the work room because I get to pick out my own fabric.
09:15How do you feel about this?
09:16Old.
09:17Old.
09:18Very old.
09:19I feel like Maya should do the dress in that color.
09:22Or maybe she doesn't even need that vest.
09:24I feel like the vest should just go.
09:27I think I agree.
09:28Pants for Zach.
09:29Wait, who else is doing navy because he can't be the only navy?
09:32I thought Jackson was doing navy.
09:34I think I kind of like this one.
09:36I fell in love with this blue upscale fabric and I'm definitely making a jacket out of this and I feel like this is going to be one of the pieces that are like a wow factor if you want to say.
09:47The type of fabric I want is like a cotton like menswear shirt.
09:51Okay, and then what color do you want?
09:53What about white?
09:54I think that you should color block it with a navy.
09:57Can we do that?
09:58White navy?
09:59Yeah, that would look super cool.
10:00Hello.
10:01Hi.
10:02I'm wondering what your dress color should be.
10:06What?
10:07Are you there?
10:08Hold on, I can't hear you.
10:09It's like really bad connection.
10:13I really can't hear.
10:16Are you there?
10:17At this point, we're just going to trust what they're picking out.
10:19Yeah.
10:20Oh, good lord.
10:21I trust them.
10:22I'm sure they got something good enough.
10:24Designers, five minutes remains.
10:27Five minutes, everyone.
10:29Come, just bring it up.
10:32This is not good.
10:35Katie and I were just running so much to the point that we don't sit down and actually evaluate
10:39which colors look good together.
10:41Oh, my God.
10:42I hope this works out.
10:43Time is up.
10:45Okay, we did it.
10:46Let's breathe, I know.
10:47Yes.
10:48Okay.
10:49We could just like...
10:51We're good.
10:53That was good.
10:56We're back.
10:57Okay, so I just need our group.
11:00This is for you.
11:02I love that.
11:03This is for you.
11:04I love that.
11:05Oh, my God, we have a fish.
11:06Okay.
11:07Yay, I'm excited.
11:08Yes, yes, yes.
11:09Hi.
11:11It's two of us and five looks, so I'm going to tell you guys what's up.
11:16The dress is going to be this color.
11:17Does everyone agree?
11:18My heart drops a little bit because Samantha pulls out this, like, split pea soup fabric
11:23and I'm like, mm-mm.
11:25We had to...
11:26We had to take your vest out.
11:29That jacket was what I was really excited about.
11:31Like, that was going to be my main thing.
11:33This is going to be your dress color.
11:35I'm feeling a little nervous just because Samantha and Patey didn't have time to get the fabrics
11:40that I can use for the vest, so I'm going to have to change my original idea.
11:45And this was like my main piece.
11:46Coming up on Project Runway Jr.
11:52This is looking very church lady.
11:54This has got to be elevated.
11:56It's all looking down market.
11:58I mean, my brain's going to sleep.
12:00You ended with a wow moment.
12:02The neckline was really innovative.
12:04I loved your look.
12:05It looked like mall clothes a little bit.
12:07I just wanted more.
12:08Our challenge this week is to create a five-piece collection with our team.
12:18We have to use styles inspired by the 40s, 50s or 60s and then update them for a more modern look.
12:26Fastest jersey dress of my life.
12:28I'm kind of struggling with my piece just because I couldn't make my vest.
12:34If anything, we'll just cut it.
12:36All right.
12:38Samantha, I cannot work with this fabric easily.
12:40Oh, you don't?
12:41You can't?
12:42It moves.
12:43I mean, I'll try to work with this.
12:44Do you want to test something really quick and then see?
12:46Yeah.
12:47Do you guys like this length?
12:49I like it because it's like a little bit of a train, but it's not like wedding gown train.
12:53Oh, this fabric is so gorgeous.
12:56Jesse, how's that working out?
12:57I don't know.
12:58I'm not feeling anything that I'm making right now.
13:00I honestly think I need to make a skirt.
13:03None of our pieces are just looking very wow.
13:07And none of us are very excited about them.
13:09So we decide that we're just going to start over.
13:12Is everyone okay with starting over?
13:13Yeah.
13:14Everyone's good with starting over?
13:15Mm-hmm.
13:16I'm going to keep the jacket because that's...
13:18I love your jacket.
13:19That's like a statement piece.
13:20It looks really good.
13:21Did you guys see?
13:22They're like scrapping everything.
13:23That's crazy.
13:24No, that's actually the most insane thing I've ever seen.
13:26If they mess up, that means we win.
13:28So the other team is like a hot mess.
13:31They're like really bad.
13:33And I hope they get it together, but if they don't, that's all good.
13:37They're gathering all new fabrics, all new everything.
13:40They're crazy.
13:41We have four hours left.
13:42They are in trouble.
13:43They're in trouble.
13:44These are all dual tones.
13:45Would it be too much if we added that like as my dress?
13:47Right?
13:48That?
13:49That's perfect.
13:50And then this is going to be our base.
13:52It seems like the other team really thinks that we're like doing really bad.
13:55It doesn't matter what they think.
13:56They're going to make mistakes.
13:57I think a whole lot better about this team challenge.
14:00Yeah, me too.
14:01You guys.
14:02Oh, they look so nice.
14:06Hi, Tim.
14:07Hi, Tim.
14:08Hi, design teams.
14:09It's very quiet in here, which actually I'm happy about.
14:12I haven't even seen your work yet, but I want to wake everyone up about how important cohesion is here.
14:17Hi, Tim.
14:18Hi, Tim.
14:19How is team 1940s?
14:20We're doing really well.
14:21Yeah, I think we're doing really well.
14:23And you're keeping an eye on each other's work because this is a mini collection.
14:26Do you want to start, Zachary?
14:27I am doing a vest look with like these very high slits and then there's going to be a pair of tailored pants underneath.
14:34Very high slits, I'll say.
14:35Yeah, so they're going to be very high tailored pants underneath.
14:38How are you finishing the hem of the pant?
14:41I'm doing these black, these gold zippers.
14:44What?
14:45What are you doing with these zippers?
14:47These are going upside down on her ankle.
14:50I think that zipper is maybe too obnoxious of a zipper.
14:53Love how obnoxious it is.
14:55Oh, no.
14:56I want my zippers.
14:58It seems like a discordant note.
15:00I want my zippers.
15:02Bridget, what happens as you move forward with the execution of this?
15:07I'm going to attach a waistband and then I'm just going to cover the back.
15:12I'm ambivalent about it.
15:13Make me believe.
15:14Okay.
15:15I know that I want to do the bat sleeves just because it's going to be the wow moment.
15:19And I just want the judges to see that.
15:22Jackson, you're up.
15:23I was inspired by this pattern and how it was very like menswear shirt.
15:28And I wanted to make like the whole dress out of this white.
15:30And I'll just make one blunt comment.
15:32Yeah.
15:33This is looking very church lady.
15:37I fundamentally don't understand what this white textile is doing in this collection.
15:41I mean, look at this together.
15:43It kind of, yeah.
15:45It looks very like a lady who should be working in an old people's home.
15:49This needs to be resolved.
15:51All right.
15:52Thank you all.
15:54Thank you so much.
15:55Hey.
15:56Hi, Tim.
15:57Hi, Tim.
15:58Hi.
15:59All right.
16:00Can I say this to you, Maya?
16:01Yes.
16:02I see 1960s.
16:03Okay.
16:04Thoughts.
16:05What's this riff on the Peter Pan collar doing on the top?
16:10It goes from being alluring to suddenly looking prim.
16:15I feel like working with so many other people has really blocked my design.
16:20This is just a purple dress.
16:22There's nothing to it.
16:24All right, Samantha, let's look at your look.
16:26I'm really confident in the jacket that I made.
16:29I feel like it's just a little tweaks here and there.
16:31What is this?
16:32It's basically a coat and then what's going to go under it is it was going to be the taupe,
16:37just like a straight dress.
16:39Samantha, I've got to tell you, this has got to be elevated because this is a big sack.
16:45Oh, my God.
16:46I just want critique to end so badly right now.
16:52I was really thinking about the styling to make sure that it looks very 60s, very Twiggy-like.
16:58This is not what Twiggy's going to wear.
17:02Closest to the bullseye is Maya's.
17:05Without the collar, I can see Twiggy wearing that.
17:08But I can't see her wearing anything else here.
17:11For me, the most captivating color that you've selected is this quasi fuchsia.
17:15I have to tell you, this taupe.
17:18I start to take a nap.
17:20I'm disappointed in you all.
17:22It's all looking very inexpensive.
17:25Down market.
17:27I mean, my brain's going to sleep.
17:31Coming up on Project Romley Jr.
17:33We have to change everything again.
17:35Yeah, because Tim doesn't like any of them.
17:37I'm angry and disappointed.
17:39Oh, my gosh.
17:40This is nuts.
17:48You can do this.
17:50But it requires honest communication and surrendering ego.
17:55I'm really confident in the jacket that I made.
17:57I feel like it's just a little tweaks here and there.
17:59It's a make-it-work moment.
18:02Thank you, Tim.
18:04All right, design teams.
18:05You have about three hours remaining in the day.
18:08Work hard and work smart.
18:11I'll see you in the morning.
18:13Bye-bye.
18:14Bye.
18:15I'm feeling very angry and very disappointed.
18:18Okay, so, Jesse, what are you doing?
18:20I'm ditching the skirt.
18:21I really want to ditch everything that I'm doing.
18:23I need to start over and do, like, a shift dress or something.
18:25And I think I need to start over, too.
18:26They have to change all their colors, too, in silhouettes.
18:29They have to change everything again?
18:31Yeah, because Tim doesn't like any of them.
18:33Damn.
18:34I think I need to go with, like, black, probably.
18:36Oh, my gosh.
18:37This is nuts.
18:38Once again, I have to go back to the drawing board.
18:41I'm really nervous that I'll be on the next flight back home.
18:45Wait, can we just have a quick celebration in here that we're in the lead?
18:49Ready, dancing?
18:50Woo!
18:51Woo-hoo!
18:52Woo-hoo!
18:53Woo-hoo!
18:54Work!
18:55We're not done yet.
18:56Yeah, but we're a lot more done than they are.
18:59So is everybody here doing a dress?
19:01I don't even care at this point.
19:02Just get something done.
19:03That's the motto.
19:04Team 1960s starting over for, like, the third time is so stupid.
19:10They don't have time to do that.
19:12I'm going to kind of do the color blocking idea, but not as, like, crazy.
19:17Come here and sew with us, Jacksons.
19:18We can all sew together.
19:20The team who sews together, rinse together.
19:23This jacket is so good.
19:25I'm just trying to perfect it.
19:27I'm sticking with my look because, as a designer, you should stand by your work no matter what.
19:32Who has the steam ripper?
19:33Okay, well, what I was going to do is do, like, a little band, like a choker kind of around her neck of that.
19:43My dress is just too simple right now.
19:45A bit of a different collar idea.
19:48Hopefully, that will make it have a little pizzazz.
19:50All right, it'll have to work.
19:52Oh.
19:54Yes!
19:56We had to start over, like, 15 minutes ago.
19:59I'm not going to have anything for you, Cheyenne.
20:01We can walk.
20:02We can walk.
20:03The other team is struggling a lot.
20:05They had to restart so much.
20:07I don't even have enough time to have a model fitting.
20:09We're having a fashion tour already.
20:10Woo!
20:11We're not going to give up.
20:12We have a really good chance to have an amazing comeback story.
20:14Thank you so much.
20:15Oh, my.
20:16I like that neck.
20:17Thanks.
20:18That's starting to seem like competition all of a sudden.
20:19I'm actually very surprised because we're adding all of these details, and I feel like
20:25we're finally getting somewhere, like, an hour before the end of the day.
20:28Turn again.
20:29What do you guys think of this?
20:30Because I'm not happy with the bodice.
20:31The pleats are weird.
20:32Put the sleeves on.
20:33We don't have time.
20:34I'm kind of regretting doing this dress.
20:35The pleats are not totally even, and it's just making my OCD go wild.
20:41Can I do this right now?
20:42Guys, it's time to go.
20:43For a three-hour collection, this is pretty good.
20:44This is impressive.
20:45I feel like we're finally getting somewhere, like, an hour before the end of the day.
20:48I feel like we're finally getting somewhere, like, an hour before the end of the day.
20:49Turn again.
20:50What do you guys think of this?
20:51Because I'm not happy with the bodice.
20:52The pleats are weird.
20:53Put the sleeves on.
20:54We don't have time.
20:55I'm kind of regretting doing this dress.
20:56The pleats are not totally even, and it's just making my OCD go wild.
21:00Can I do this right now?
21:01Guys, it's time to go.
21:06For a three-hour collection, this is pretty good.
21:10This is impressive, guys.
21:17I'm a little nervous walking back into the workroom this morning just because I know
21:22we have so much work to do.
21:26Good morning, design team.
21:27Good morning.
21:28How are you?
21:29It's pretty good.
21:30Good.
21:31I'm happy to hear it.
21:32In 30 minutes, your models will be coming in.
21:33In one hour, we're going down to the runway.
21:36All right?
21:37Is everyone going to be ready?
21:38Yeah.
21:39Yeah.
21:40I'll see you in an hour.
21:41Thank you, Tim.
21:43Where's your extra fabric so I can cut out sleeves?
21:45I have a lot left to do.
21:46I have to add on sleeves.
21:48I'm just so thankful for my team.
21:50If you want to put the other sleeve in, I'll hand sew for you.
21:53I'll do whatever.
21:54Although Tim said it should be a coat dress, I just feel like it's missing something.
21:59And I look around and I'm just like, let me just add a white dress in there.
22:02The question is, how's my model going to get into it?
22:05Jax has the most work to do and he's like really trying to get his top done right now.
22:10Hi.
22:11Oh my gosh.
22:12The zipper, we're going this side.
22:13All right.
22:14Let's get changing.
22:15We're so scared.
22:16Matt's scarf around the head kind of reminds me of like a Russian grandmother.
22:23Guys, I'm so happy with our collection.
22:28I know.
22:29The first three-hour collection in Pudge Runway history.
22:32This is the first three-hour collection.
22:34I think that our collection is really good.
22:36I think that we were really able to turn it around.
22:39All right, designers.
22:40In 10 minutes, you and your models and I are going down to the runway.
22:44Jackson always works to the last minute.
22:47I just really hope it's able to come together on the runway.
22:50All right, so just come back here.
22:51I'm just going to fix the back.
22:52Samantha still has pins in the back of her dress, so I'm a little bit nervous for her.
22:57Do you like it with the white dress?
22:59Yeah, I definitely like it with the white dress better.
23:04I was not expecting to work to the last minute, but I had troubles with the zipper.
23:11Designers and models, we're going down to the runway.
23:14Team 1940s, Team 1960s, off we go.
23:21The winner of Project Runway Junior will receive a full scholarship to the prestigious FIDM in California,
23:33a complete home sewing and crafting studio provided by Brother, a feature in Seventeen Magazine,
23:39and a $25,000 cash prize to help launch their line.
23:51Hi, guys.
23:52Hi.
23:53Welcome to the runway.
23:54Welcome to the runway.
23:55This was your first team challenge.
23:56How was that?
23:57Good.
23:58It was good.
23:59You know the drill.
24:00In fashion, one day you're in and the next day you're out.
24:04Your challenge was to create cohesive mini collections using simplicity patterns as a starting point,
24:10you were to put a modern twist on a vintage design.
24:13You all chose the 1940s and you all chose the 1960s.
24:19Now let's say hello to our wonderful judges.
24:22First, we have fashion designer, Christian Siriano.
24:25Hello.
24:26Hi.
24:27Fashion critic and fashion designer, Kelly Osborne.
24:30Hi, designers.
24:31Hi.
24:32Hi.
24:33And fashion director for Seventeen and Cosmopolitan magazines, Aya Kanai.
24:40And we also have Tim Gunn here for the runway show.
24:44Okay, it's time for the show.
24:51It is so pretty.
24:52You did such a good job.
24:55It's definitely way shorter than I wanted.
24:59It's not very me, but I'm proud of how fast I pulled it all together because I seriously designed this within two seconds.
25:11I think that my look pulled off pretty well.
25:14So good.
25:15The pink was thought such a good decision.
25:17Yeah.
25:18I'm glad I did that.
25:19I'm seeing little problems, the fit, the poorly A-lined shape that I wanted.
25:24Other than that, I think that my model looks great in it and it's representing the 60s.
25:28I really feel like my look nailed the challenge.
25:41I think I could see a modern woman wearing this and I could also see someone in the 60s wearing this.
25:46And I think the headscarf kind of brings it all together.
25:49It's very Jackie O.
25:50I feel amazing seeing my look come down the runway.
25:51I think that it definitely represents me as a designer and I think that I did a good job with the whole neckline and the strap details.
26:07That's Maya.
26:08We might win this one.
26:09I just so turned it around you guys.
26:10It's just a huge belief that I'm sending something down the runway and I stand by my coat a hundred percent.
26:25I just keep wishing that I didn't make this white dress.
26:41I'm feeling really happy.
26:42The inspiration from the 1940s is very clear.
26:46My only concern is that it has a lack of surprise and color pop.
26:51That's really cute.
26:53I'm really proud of my look.
27:02I think if it's a decade, well, that it has the hints of the suit jacket and the tones and the colors of that time.
27:10But it's very modern.
27:16I feel like I updated this look very well.
27:18I love the slit in it.
27:20There's a lot of black ribbon on that.
27:22I can see the constructional errors in the top, but it looks really good.
27:33I got a wow.
27:34I get a wow from Kelly.
27:36I'm just hoping that all the other judges really like my look.
27:41It looks amazing.
27:42The jacket is amazing.
27:44Thanks.
27:45I'm feeling very confident.
27:46It's modern and it's inspired by the 1940s.
27:49I think that my favorite part about my look is that fabric choice.
28:00I normally don't work with red, but the flow is perfect and the fabric looks amazing.
28:06It just moves so beautifully.
28:09We chose the right fabric.
28:10I went for a glam aspect and I just made it more modern.
28:23Okay designers, there will be a winning team and a losing team.
28:27One member of the winning team will be the winner and one member of the losing team will be out.
28:32One member of the upcoming team will be out.
28:33What I wrong you are trying to tag Seiichi so quickly?
28:37Bye.
28:38I PLAYERS
28:41Coming up on Project Wormley Jr., that's the fashion show.
28:44for five years now.
28:45She should be going home because her dress is like s**t.
28:50Okay, designers, there will be a winning team
28:53and a losing team.
28:54One member of the winning team will be the winner,
28:57and one member of the losing team will be out.
29:041940s, congratulations, you're the winning team.
29:06Hi!
29:10We are going to talk to the winning team first.
29:121960s, you can leave the runway.
29:15We'll bring you back in a little bit.
29:22If one of us is going to go home,
29:24I think that it's best that we go home on something
29:27that we're proud of, and I don't know about you guys,
29:29but I'm proud of everything that we made.
29:31I'm very proud of what we were able to do
29:33in such a short period of time.
29:34I think it looks awesome.
29:36Yeah.
29:39We want to know about your collection and your inspiration.
29:41So, we were inspired by the 1940s,
29:44and we really wanted to capture
29:45the very tailored aspect of that time,
29:47and so we really wanted to create a full woman
29:50that went from day to night
29:51to try to really make it cohesive.
29:53And our color palette, you can kind of see
29:55that there's like this strong sense of nationalism
29:58in our pieces,
29:59which was really prominent in the 1940s.
30:01As a whole group, the fluidity is incredible.
30:05The way that you started out with a story
30:07going from day to night,
30:08and then you ended with a wow moment.
30:11That's a fashion show.
30:12You gave us that.
30:13It was incredible.
30:14I love that you use a lot of neutrals,
30:16and the black and navy is one of my favorite
30:18sort of color combinations.
30:20And I even like how the girls have this red lipstick
30:22to sort of tie in everything.
30:24The only issue I had, Jackson with the top,
30:28a little messy.
30:31It's so interesting because I think
30:32some of your fabrics aren't necessarily
30:33that interesting,
30:34but I think what you did with them
30:35is really beautiful.
30:37For me, I really think that Bridget and Zach,
30:40I thought, had really kind of powerful looks here
30:43that were kind of felt iconic.
30:46I was inspired by the women's suit,
30:49so I wanted to do an updated version of that
30:51and also playing off of the peplum.
30:53And then I knew that we were doing a pattern
30:56so that this goes in
31:00and so you can have a different neckline.
31:02You are so cute.
31:04I can't handle it.
31:06And Zach, I think your pants fit really great.
31:09Thanks.
31:09I thought that they were tailored really nicely.
31:13You know, I felt like, Bridget,
31:14you were giving me a little blanch in the Golden Girls,
31:16but I kind of liked it
31:17because I felt like it was very elegant and beautiful.
31:20But I loved how it almost felt like a nightgown.
31:22Me too.
31:23I loved how it just had this, like,
31:26swishy, like, comfortable...
31:28It's Blanche.
31:29Yeah.
31:29Fabulous Blanche.
31:33This Screams Cruise Collection.
31:35Like, you could wear this as a robe,
31:37or you could wear this to an incredible yacht party.
31:41To me, it's very versatile,
31:41and that's what I love about very fancy gowns like this
31:47when you can dress them down.
31:49The pattern that I used
31:50was this beautiful silk dress,
31:52and it had a lot of gathers,
31:53so I wanted to keep the gathers throughout the dress.
31:56And it has short sleeves,
31:57so I decided to extend it for an ultra-feminine look.
32:00You guys gelled on your vision,
32:03and you guys each created your component
32:06to make that vision come to life.
32:08Great job, guys.
32:11We're going to talk with the losing team now.
32:13You can leave the runway.
32:15Thanks, guys.
32:191960s.
32:20As you know, you're the losing team.
32:22It wasn't a bad collection by any means,
32:25but the 1940s collection was just stronger.
32:29So tell us a little bit about your collection.
32:31We were inspired by the 1960s color,
32:35which is the blue and fuchsia purple.
32:39And then just to bring a more elegant style to it,
32:43then we brought in, like, some black, gray, and white.
32:46I can see elements of the 60s there,
32:49but you could have gone with some really bright, fun colors,
32:51and I know that is out of some people's comfort zones.
32:54Everything's very flat.
32:56I don't know.
32:56They look like mall clothes a little bit.
32:58Maya, I was probably the most impressed with yours.
33:00The neckline was really innovative and cool and different.
33:03I decided to use that fun fuchsia color
33:06because I absolutely love it,
33:08and I wanted to give her this little shift dress
33:11with a cool detail around the neckline
33:14and then a low back.
33:16Matt, I mean, like, if I see a crop top from you,
33:19like, no more.
33:19I promise.
33:22I think your execution of the skirt is well done.
33:25However, it isn't of the right time
33:28because I automatically went back to the 1950s.
33:31I was really inspired by Jackie O,
33:34and she has her, like, classic headscarf,
33:36so I made a quick little headscarf,
33:40and I really like this piece.
33:44Samantha, I love what you're doing here.
33:46It is so Chanel to me.
33:48I love the frayed edges, the double pockets.
33:50I think that what made it not be my favorite
33:53was the white fabric because it looked too starchy.
33:56I knew that I wanted to do something that is my aesthetic,
33:59which is the jacket, and I love blue.
34:01So, luckily, it tied into the rest of the collection,
34:05and then that's what I have.
34:06I really love this jacket.
34:08It kind of reminds me of maybe if, like,
34:10Jill Sander and Chanel had a baby.
34:13I just wish maybe you had used a thicker fabric,
34:16but other than that, I mean, it's a beautiful design.
34:19Could you take off the jacket?
34:20The back is, like, really bad.
34:27Oh.
34:31That was, like, a last-minute, 20-minute.
34:33This is a 20-minute dress.
34:34Yeah.
34:37I wrote Woodstock.
34:38We could have the Beatles.
34:39Like, you're a bohemian girl.
34:41Like, where is that?
34:42That would have been a cooler idea here.
34:44I just wanted more from everyone.
34:46Yeah.
34:47You can leave the runway.
34:57It just sucks, because that was something
34:58that I was, like, really proud of,
35:00and, oh, my God, I'm a hot mess.
35:02Waiting for the judge's decision is awful.
35:05I'm thinking at this point it's going to be me.
35:09You all right?
35:11It sucks.
35:13Okay, we have some hard decisions to make.
35:16So, who of this bottom group,
35:20who are we willing to let go of?
35:21Do you know what really bums me out?
35:23Is that with what Maya did,
35:25they could have gone down that kind of space route
35:27and done, like, the spacesuit kind of stuff.
35:29And they really could have had so much fun with this.
35:31You could go down a psychedelic road.
35:33That's what I thought they were going to do.
35:34I would like, like, acid colors,
35:36like, tripping up on stage.
35:38They should have looked at what Maya was doing over there.
35:40The fabric choices were really bad.
35:42Really understands it.
35:43It really just made the clothes look boring and cheap.
35:46When you look at Matt,
35:49what he wanted to do doesn't quite happen.
35:52I know.
35:52I just feel like I'm getting a crop top
35:54and a pencil skirt almost every challenge.
35:56Christian is right in the sense that
35:58I actually have not seen
35:59one passable look from him yet.
36:02I say this with nothing but love.
36:08I do believe that Samantha
36:10should be in the bottom two this week.
36:12You shouldn't be sending things down the runway
36:13completely and done.
36:14The only person who has cried,
36:17and it's not because they're being sent home,
36:19is Samantha.
36:20Oh, I don't even care.
36:21I just want to see...
36:22I'm like, guys,
36:23I just want to see good clothes.
36:26We just have to look at how the clothes look.
36:28Then really?
36:29Then she should be going home
36:30because her dress looks like...
36:31Yeah, but her jacket is...
36:32We don't see the dress.
36:33I mean, that's like saying,
36:35well, I don't like his headscarf
36:36Because she put a jacket on
36:38with the top of the back of the dress.
36:40Because the jacket is good.
36:41You guys love the jacket.
36:43I love the jacket,
36:43but I don't think there's that much detail.
36:46But what detail did Matt put in his?
36:49The skirt is very well made.
36:51He did the pleat in the side.
36:53The top is actually really well made.
36:57Now let's talk about who should win.
36:59Oh, I loved Bridget's gown.
37:01It was so fabulous.
37:01And the color.
37:02It's gorgeous.
37:03It gave us a wow moment
37:04because you could stick that on
37:05such a young, beautiful,
37:07let's save it to a secret model.
37:09And then I can see somebody like Helen Mirren
37:11wearing it very well tailored.
37:13The construction wasn't perfect.
37:14No, definitely not.
37:15Because it had that old Hollywood glamour
37:17and that kind of feel,
37:18that 40s, you know,
37:19we both wrote Katherine Heppern on our car,
37:22who's a style icon,
37:23could wear something.
37:24I think that's pretty great.
37:25And when I look at Zach's pantsuit,
37:31those pants that he made
37:33were so well done.
37:34The fit was really great.
37:35I found the trouser to be more impressive
37:37even than the peplum.
37:38For sure.
37:39Because the peplum is like,
37:40okay, we've seen that for five years now.
37:42There was no break in the trouser.
37:43But the trouser really looked excellent.
37:47Okay, so do we all agree?
37:48Yeah.
37:49Okay, let's bring him back.
38:01Designers, the five of you
38:02represent the winning team.
38:05And the five of you
38:07represent the losing team.
38:09Bridget, congratulations.
38:12You're the winner of this challenge.
38:13Oh, my God!
38:14Thank you!
38:15And that means you have immunity
38:18for the next challenge
38:19and cannot be eliminated.
38:24Bridget, the pattern for your look
38:26will be created and sold by Simplicity.
38:29I am beyond happy.
38:30I thought that he was going to win,
38:32so this is a real shot.
38:34Thank you so much.
38:36Team 1940s,
38:38you guys can leave the runway.
38:41Thank you so much.
38:42I am beyond ecstatic about winning,
38:45and to think that I'm going to have
38:47my own Simplicity pattern
38:48is amazing.
38:50Team 1960s,
38:52we wish that you would have been
38:53more creative,
38:54and to be honest,
38:55just have more fun with it.
38:57Jessie, Maya, Katie,
38:59here, Ben,
39:00you can leave the runway.
39:03Thank you so much.
39:12Samantha,
39:18Matt,
39:19you both disappointed us today.
39:25We believe in you,
39:28and we expect more from both of you.
39:34Samantha,
39:35you're in.
39:39I love you so much.
39:47I love you so much.
39:48I love you too.
39:49Thank you, guys.
39:50Wait a second.
39:51Sure.
39:52Matt.
39:55Matt?
39:56You're also in.
39:59Thank you so much.
40:06You will not see another crop top for me
40:09as long as I live.
40:11We rarely give second chances,
40:14but today we're making a big exception.
40:16We still want to see more from both of you.
40:20There's more.
40:21We will be having a double elimination.
40:26So you and everyone else should be prepared.
40:30Will you tell the rest of the group?
40:32Of course.
40:33You're both in.
40:34Thank you so much.
40:35Remember, have fun, you guys.
40:37This is fun.
40:38I will.
40:39From hearing all of that harsh critique,
40:41you would have thought that we would have both gone home.
40:44So that was a huge shock.
40:46Surprise!
40:48We're both in.
40:49Wow!
40:49I am feeling so good.
40:54I am hashtag not the cat
40:56because it looks like I have nine lives in this competition.
40:59Congratulations.
41:00There's a double elimination coming, though.
41:02I'm excited for them so they don't have to go home,
41:05but I'm kind of, like, upset
41:06because it's a competition
41:07for people to leave, not stay.
41:10Yay!
41:13I don't have to send anyone to the work room
41:15to clean up their space.
41:16How thrilling is that?
41:17Yay!
41:17And, Bridget, congratulations.
41:20Yay!
41:21Thrilling.
41:22But will everyone please repeat after me,
41:26no more crop tops.
41:28No more crop tops.
41:31Okay?
41:32So it's Project Runway.
41:34Yeah.
41:34And you never know what will happen.
41:36Everyone's still here.
