00:00Previously on Project Runway Junior.
00:02We want you to be your own muse.
00:05Finalists will be showing at New York Fashion Week.
00:08Oh my god.
00:12I don't know what I'm doing.
00:13I have no design idea.
00:15So good.
00:17Wow.
00:18Don't get off this path.
00:19OK.
00:20Got a bit of, got a bit of.
00:21You just cut this in half.
00:22Fuck.
00:24I just love this silhouette.
00:27And I said, wow.
00:29It's happy.
00:30It's empowered.
00:30It's full of spirit.
00:32Zachary, the skirt felt really heavy.
00:35It didn't have that nudity to it.
00:38Maya, Katie, Samantha, you are moving forward
00:41to compete during New York Fashion Week.
00:46Zachary, I'm sorry.
00:47That means you're out.
00:51You're not going anywhere.
00:52I'm using my team gun safe.
00:54Oh my god.
00:55This is my team.
00:57Tim saved me for a reason.
00:58And of course, I think I have what it takes to win.
01:01You're all going to New York Fashion Week.
01:03Yay!
01:04Hello, designers.
01:06Hello.
01:08Welcome back to the runway.
01:10Zachary, I am so happy to see you.
01:12You have no idea.
01:14Thank you, Tim.
01:14Hannah, what choice did I have here?
01:15He has to show.
01:16If it wasn't for Tim's save, I would have pin out, and that's still resonating with me.
01:21And I'm so lucky to be here, and I really just have to bring it.
01:25Designers, congratulations on making it to the first ever Project Runway Junior Finale.
01:31Yay!
01:32How thrilling.
01:33You're making history.
01:34This is crazy.
01:35Like, it feels so good.
01:36It feels so good.
01:37It feels so good.
01:38It feels so good.
01:39It feels so good.
01:40It feels so good.
01:41It feels so good.
01:42You have no idea.
01:44Thank you, Tim.
01:45What choice did I have here?
01:46He has to show.
01:47If it wasn't for Tim's save, I would have pin out.
01:50Yay!
01:51How thrilling.
01:52You're making history.
01:53This is crazy.
01:54Like, it feels so good to be in the final four.
01:57Like, I didn't imagine I would make it this far.
02:00I am so happy for all of you, but your biggest challenge yet starts right now.
02:07It's time for you all to show the world what you're made of.
02:10Each of you will be designing a six-look collection to show during New York Fashion Week.
02:15Oh, my gosh!
02:17I'm so excited!
02:18It's been a dream of mine to show my work during New York Fashion Week.
02:23This is crazy!
02:24You'll be showing among some of the biggest names in the fashion business.
02:28The biggest designers.
02:29It is a major make-or-break moment.
02:31One of you will receive a full scholarship to the prestigious FIDM in California.
02:36That's right.
02:37So, designers will be sending you home where you will have four weeks and a budget of $4,000
02:43to put your collections together.
02:45This is insane!
02:46Thank you!
02:47Oh, my gosh!
02:48$4,000!
02:49Woo!
02:50And I'd love to make home visits, but there just isn't time.
02:54In three weeks, you and your collections will come back here to New York for a check-in.
02:59It will be a bit like our regular critiques.
03:01So, designers, head on up to the work room where Tim has one final detail to share with you.
03:06All right, everyone.
03:07Let's go!
03:08Come on in.
03:13Oh, our name tags are still.
03:16Oh, my goodness.
03:17So, designers, there's one more exciting aspect to this challenge.
03:20To expand on this, please welcome a familiar face around here.
03:26Oh, my gosh!
03:27Our own Project Runway alum, Amanda Valentine.
03:29Hi, guys!
03:30Hi!
03:31Hi!
03:32Hi!
03:33So, congratulations on making it to the finale.
03:36This is a very exciting time.
03:39Amanda!
03:40Oh, my gosh!
03:41She was my helper on the red carpet challenge, and I love her.
03:44And she's wearing glasses, and she looks so chic and sophisticated.
03:48My biggest piece of advice is to follow your instincts and stay true to yourselves.
03:54I know that you've noticed the stylish VisionWorks eyeglass displays here.
03:59Yes.
04:00Well, you will each be accessorizing one of your six models with a fashionable set of eyeglasses.
04:07And the winner will also receive a VisionWorks shopping spree.
04:10Oh!
04:11Wow!
04:12Designers, you have ten minutes to explore the VisionWorks display, all right?
04:15Good luck.
04:17Your collections are going to be amazing.
04:20These are really cool.
04:23You try to look chic.
04:24Oh, this goes with your whole look.
04:26Oh, I love those.
04:28Keeping these on.
04:29I'm really happy that we have this whole added element of the glasses.
04:32I want to go with more classic shapes for my collection.
04:36Hey, here's some, like, electric blue ones over here.
04:38Oh!
04:39I really, really love glasses.
04:41They just kind of tie in your whole look.
04:44I'm totally looking forward to my own collection.
04:47I'm going to, like, work.
04:49Yes.
04:51All right, bring your glasses together, because I'm sending all of us home.
04:56All right?
04:57Oh!
04:58You have to get to work, because in three weeks, you and your collections will come back here
05:02to New York for a check-in.
05:04Oh!
05:05Safe travels to all of you.
05:06Thank you, Tim.
05:07Thank you, Tim.
05:08Let's go, everyone.
05:09I'll see you in a few weeks.
05:10Bye.
05:12Thank you, Tim.
05:13Bye, bye, bye, bye.
05:15Zachary is in Berkeley, California.
05:17I have no idea what I'm going to do for my collection.
05:23I think I'm just going to take a couple days off to reboot and kind of figure out what I
05:28want to do and get re-inspired.
05:30So I'm really excited to see where this all goes or something will happen.
05:34Katie is in Carlsbad, California.
05:37It is about a week into the process of sewing the collection, and I'm now realizing that
05:44I have to scrap the whole thing, go back to LA to get fabric.
05:50Maya is in Toledo, Ohio.
05:52This is currently a look that I'm working on.
05:54I'm pretty much just playing with this leather fabric.
05:57I mean, would it be a Maya collection without leather?
06:00Who knows?
06:01It's like literally like 2 in the morning or something, and guess who is still up sewing?
06:08It's been a lot of long nights recently, but no sleep till Fashion Week.
06:14And Samantha is right here in New York City.
06:17So I'm back in Queens, and I'm just getting ready for this collection for Fashion Week,
06:22and I've just been doing a lot of sketching lately, and this is the first time that I've
06:26actually been changing my mind a lot, so that's getting me a little nervous.
06:30But I definitely have a concept as to where I want to go with this, and I want to incorporate
06:35some military tactical designs in there inspired by uniforms.
06:39So I'm super excited about it, and I've got a lot of work to do.
06:45The designers have come back to New York so I can check in on the progress of their collections.
06:50I'm headed to the workroom to check in with the designers.
06:53First up is Pady.
06:58Pady!
06:59Wow!
07:00You have a lot done.
07:02Yes, I've been doing a lot of work.
07:05I'm really excited to show to my collection.
07:07Every piece is very me, and there really isn't anything that I want to change about it.
07:12Tell me about everything that you've been doing.
07:15Okay, so my inspiration for this collection, I was very inspired by traveling.
07:19And so my idea is that my girl has endless stamps on her passport, and I want each piece
07:24to look like, you know, she bought the fabric in a different place, or she bought the garment
07:28in a different place without being too literal.
07:30Okay.
07:31This is like a blue dress with like a middle slit, so it'll have a lot of movement going
07:36down the runway.
07:37My little sister does gold hand painting.
07:40She does?
07:41Crazy things, yeah.
07:42I hired her to do a lot of gold hand painting.
07:45Good heavens, this is from your sister?
07:47Yeah.
07:48What does she use as a point of reference?
07:50It's all in her head.
07:51It's all freehand, yeah.
07:52You're kidding.
07:53It's a whole family of prodigies.
07:56I'm super excited about getting to show New York Fashion Week, but now's the time that
08:01I need to be on top of it.
08:03I need to make my collection perfect.
08:05I know that you have family here.
08:08Yes, I do.
08:09And I want to meet them.
08:11Okay.
08:12Hi.
08:13Hi.
08:14Hi.
08:15This is my sister Zoe.
08:16Hi Zoe.
08:17I just saw your fantastic work.
08:20This is my mom, Jen.
08:21Hi.
08:22This is my dad.
08:23Nice to see you, too.
08:24Thank you so much.
08:25Well, until Patey's critique, which we just had, I thought how incredible it is that you
08:31have this exceptionally talented daughter.
08:33Well, now I know you have two exceptionally talented daughters.
08:35The good news is you're still here.
08:37You're still in the competition.
08:38Yeah.
08:39The bad news is you're still here.
08:41I know.
08:42Because you have to rally and you're exhausted and-
08:45A lot of work.
08:46Yeah.
08:47You're exhausted physically, emotionally, creatively, and then guess what?
08:51You have to do it all over again.
08:52I know.
08:53I could not imagine life without Tim.
08:54I wish that he was like, in my family.
08:57He was like, my uncle or something.
08:59Because I want to see him all the time.
09:01Uncle Tim.
09:10Maya, how are you?
09:11Hi.
09:12How are you?
09:13I'm good, but I think you're not well.
09:16You're nervous.
09:18Yes.
09:19You're not used to this level of Maya nervousness.
09:22Sorry.
09:23I was nervous that-
09:24Do you want some water?
09:25I'm all right.
09:26I'm all right.
09:27What's going on?
09:28When I went home, there was no rest.
09:31I've been struggling with who I am as a designer, along with being able to show it.
09:36So I'm just, I'm a little nervous of what Tim's going to think.
09:39So what's your inspiration?
09:40Warrior in the springtime.
09:42So like-
09:43Warrior?
09:44I picture this like Warrior coming out of this big patch of flowers.
09:49So kind of combining like the hard and soft.
09:51Mhm.
09:52So the floral and like a lot of like the black leathers and things like that.
09:56Love your inspiration.
09:57I think it's a great point of departure and it's very you.
10:01But you don't want it to go over the top.
10:03Okay.
10:04I'd limit the number of different textiles you're using.
10:10Pull back?
10:12Yeah.
10:13If you really love this textile, I'm going to give you more work to do.
10:18Because then I would use this here also.
10:22Alright.
10:23Well-
10:24It makes more sense.
10:25I could, I don't know if this would work in this.
10:29Because I like this a whole lot more than I like this.
10:32Like I've-
10:33That is exactly what you need to do.
10:34Alright.
10:35I'm so glad you took me there because that's where I was going to go next.
10:38Who's here from your family?
10:40My mom and my sister.
10:41Well, I want to meet them.
10:42Alright.
10:43My family is extremely close.
10:45And for me to be able to show Tim, who's raising me at this point, it's exciting.
10:52So, Tim, this is my mom and my sister.
10:55Hi.
10:56Nice to meet you.
10:57Nice to meet you.
10:59Hi, Sonya.
11:00Nice to meet you.
11:01So, how phenomenal is this?
11:04This is awesome.
11:05It's like a dream come true for me, for Maya.
11:09So, when did this first start to percolate?
11:11When did you first notice it?
11:13So, when she was young, you know, she tried to play soccer and she kind of ran away from
11:18the ball a little bit.
11:19I'm with you.
11:20I'm with Gary.
11:21So, she asked for a sewing machine and then she started making stuff, watching YouTube
11:26videos.
11:27Absolutely.
11:28The internet is a great place.
11:29Very industrious of you.
11:30Not all parents want their kids to go into the fashion business.
11:34For me, my parents are like, do what you want, go for it, and just give it your all.
11:40So, I hope I have what it takes to be the winner of Project Renoir Jr.
11:43Thank you so much.
11:44I'm so proud of you.
11:46Thank you so much.
11:55I'm nervous for my collection because I don't know what the other designers are doing.
11:58And I feel like I started way too slow because of the atmosphere that I was in.
12:03You know, I'm at home.
12:04I'm laid back.
12:05Long story short, I don't have enough pieces to show.
12:09Hello.
12:10Samantha, how are you?
12:11How are you?
12:12I'm so happy to see you.
12:13I'm so happy to see you too.
12:15So, talk to me.
12:16Okay.
12:17What was your inspiration?
12:18Actually, my inspiration was military uniforms.
12:20Okay.
12:21No surprise.
12:22No.
12:23All of the hardcore details, you know, the pocket details.
12:26But I wanted to put a twist on it where it's like a more feminine version.
12:30Of course.
12:31Of, you know, the military uniform.
12:32Look at this pair of pants.
12:33Yes.
12:37When you put the neoprene together, head to toe, and you have a pant, I'm afraid she's
12:42going to look like the Michelin Man.
12:44What about the fit?
12:45Mm-hmm.
12:46Oh, my God.
12:47As I see it in front of me, it does look a bit forced.
12:51I have a lot of work to do.
12:53Um, are the last one?
13:01Are these two looks the same?
13:06I feel that the only difference would be this is short sleeve and that's sleeveless.
13:10I think you need to change it up.
13:13I think it's too close a redundancy.
13:16Because you need something to distinguish that look
13:20more than the fact that it's a different color.
13:23OK.
13:24And, Samantha, I'll be blunt.
13:26There's not a lot of items in this collection.
13:28Do you know what I mean?
13:30Yeah.
13:31Tim seems to be a little worried at the fact
13:33that I don't have everything done.
13:35However, he knows what I'm capable of doing,
13:37and we both know that I can get it done.
13:39Well, who's here from your family?
13:41My mom and dad are here today.
13:42Oh, wonderful.
13:43I'm eager to meet them.
13:44Let's do it.
13:45All right.
13:46Let's head out.
13:47Introducing Tim to my mom and dad,
13:48it's going to be interesting.
13:49It's not every day that you just get to sit down
13:52in the park with Tim and talk about, you know,
13:54your fashion experiences.
13:56Hello.
13:57Hi.
13:58How are you?
13:59Tim Gunn.
14:00How are you?
14:01I'm wonderful.
14:02Nice to see you, Candida.
14:03Nice to see you, too.
14:04Johnny Cobo, it's a pleasure to meet you.
14:05Nice to see you, Johnny.
14:07Has Samantha always been like this?
14:09Well, she's always been extraordinary,
14:11without a doubt.
14:12We used to go to the mall,
14:13and we would go through every store.
14:15Oh, yeah.
14:16And she would walk out.
14:18I didn't like anything.
14:19And I'm like, well, I don't get it.
14:21You get a dress, you get a nice shirt,
14:24and you're done.
14:25No, I didn't like it.
14:26Yeah.
14:27And I would be very frustrated.
14:29But now I get it.
14:30Why?
14:31Excellent.
14:32To actually see the designs was amazing.
14:34It was just like, oh, my gosh, that's my girl.
14:36And you being the epitome of professionalism in fashion,
14:40just your reactions is like, wow, that's our little girl.
14:44Like, can you imagine?
14:45I see this opportunity just being huge.
14:47I see this as only being the beginning.
14:49I agree.
14:50Of bigger and greater things.
14:51And it's just so humbling for us as parents.
14:54I mean, we're her number one fan.
14:57This is so great.
14:59Very exciting.
15:00Well, Candida and Johnny,
15:02I'll see you at New York Fashion Week for the show.
15:04Excellent. Can't wait.
15:05I know.
15:06It's going to be thrilling.
15:07Oh, I'm excited.
15:15I'm really nervous to be showing this to Tim.
15:17I think that I have a long ways to go,
15:19but I definitely think that this is kind of the right thing.
15:20to be showing him because I'm early enough in the process
15:23that I can change whatever I need.
15:25But I do have a lot of work to do.
15:30Zachary.
15:31Hello.
15:32How are you?
15:33Hi, I'm great.
15:34So happy to see you.
15:36How have you been?
15:37Good.
15:38I had a lot of ideas,
15:39and they're kind of slowly coming together, but...
15:42Okay.
15:43What was your inspiration?
15:44I was really inspired by this kind of juxtaposition
15:48of really light elements and really lighter colors.
15:51I really want to show just kind of the duality in the world.
15:54I really want that whole contrast to really come through.
15:57But it's a lot different than what I've shown in the past,
15:59and it has a lighter edge to it.
16:01And so I took a risk with that,
16:04and I don't really know if it's going to pay off.
16:06So this is my finale look, and it's in progress now.
16:11Mm-hmm.
16:12And I did all this hand-embroidery flowers.
16:15Are you going full circle with these?
16:17No, this is just going to be in the front,
16:18and then this is actually the base of it,
16:20and then it's just going to be faded
16:21with much smaller flowers up,
16:23just so that it's more of a transition,
16:25not of a block of flowers at the bottom.
16:27Just beat back the tendency for this to want to be prom.
16:33Oh, my gosh.
16:35It's, like, horrible.
16:37It's the last thing I want is prom.
16:39That is the worst thing to hear.
16:40I mean, no one wants to be a prom designer
16:43at New York Fashion Week.
16:45Beat it back because it could go there.
16:47Yes.
16:48Make adjustments as necessary.
16:50It's a real show.
16:51It's New York Fashion Week.
16:53I'm so excited.
16:54So who came with you from your family?
16:56My mother.
16:57I'd love to meet her.
16:58Let's go right now.
16:59Yay.
17:00Follow me.
17:01I'm so excited for Tim to meet my mom.
17:03My mom's a big Tim Gunn fan.
17:05Hi.
17:06Hi, Tim.
17:07Hi, Camille.
17:08Can I get him?
17:09You've got a hug and a kiss.
17:10How are you?
17:11Okay, first of all, before I start crying.
17:12Oh, my God, we haven't even gotten two seconds in.
17:13Thank you for giving my baby this opportunity.
17:15Oh, good heavens.
17:16Okay?
17:17Let me tell you something.
17:18Zachary's done this all on his own.
17:20But you're safe.
17:21Oh.
17:22Things happen for a reason.
17:24I'm the one who is blessed.
17:26Have a seat.
17:27Okay.
17:28Have a seat.
17:29Have a seat.
17:30Okay.
17:31And when did you know that Zachary was going to be a designer?
17:34You know, people laugh and maybe not believe me, but when he was little.
17:38He was two or three years old and would play with his blankets.
17:44Tim definitely helped me just move everything in the right direction.
17:47Beat back the prom.
17:48Okay.
17:49And make it work.
17:50I'm excited.
17:51I will see you at Fashion Week.
17:53Can you say that again?
17:54I will see you at Fashion Week.
17:57So after seeing Tim, I need to make sure that all the details are on point.
18:01I've always imagined myself at Fashion Week and it's always been this huge goal of mine.
18:07And so my family's support has meant the world.
18:10Oh, my God.
18:11Okay.
18:12I just got to kiss Tim gone.
18:16One of these four designers will be the winner of Project Runway Junior.
18:20Let's check in on them.
18:22After having the critique with Tim, which was much needed, the designers and I officially have one week to finish basically our whole collection in time for New York Fashion Week.
18:30And although I'm very excited, I'm also very nervous because I have a lot to finish and I'm running out of time.
18:37I'm really stuck about what I should do.
18:39He kept telling me to manipulate the fabric, try to think about beading.
18:43Or also I found these like little like mirrors that I'm like trying to incorporate into the fabric, but we'll see how it goes.
18:52I really want to show the judges that I can do these like bright, really light and fresh designs.
18:59We'll go from here.
19:00We'll see what happens.
19:01I've really been re-inspired.
19:03I've got fabric shopping.
19:04I've done a lot of mood boards and different inspiration things.
19:07I want something that's sophisticated and streamlined and happy and joyful, but very elegant and put together.
19:28Oh my God.
19:29Oh my goodness.
19:31Oh my goodness.
19:32Oh my gosh.
19:33All right.
19:34Who wants to like start unwipping first?
19:36We're actually opening now.
19:37You guys want to do it on three?
19:38I'm so scared.
19:39One.
19:40Two.
19:41Wait.
19:42Three.
19:43Okay.
19:44I opened it.
19:45Okay.
19:46I'm just going for it.
19:47This is so exciting.
19:48Holy cow, Zachary.
19:49No.
19:50Oh my gosh.
19:51That's so cool.
19:52Oh my God.
19:53That's cute.
19:54Aww.
19:55How are we doing?
19:56Compared to the other designers, I'm behind.
19:59Knowing that it's the four of us going to Fashion Week, I'm definitely freaking out.
20:04Hello.
20:05Hello.
20:06How is everyone?
20:07Good.
20:08Are you excited about this week?
20:09Yeah.
20:10So nervous.
20:11It's very exciting.
20:12You know, nervousness is good.
20:13I think it keeps us on our game.
20:15Yes.
20:16I do.
20:17I think it's great.
20:18All season, you have been using the Just Fab accessories wall.
20:23And I just want to underscore that it's been very critical to your success.
20:28And the Just Fab accessories wall will be critical to your success today, too.
20:32And also the Brother Sewing Studio.
20:35All right?
20:36All right.
20:37I have a nice surprise for you.
20:40Oh.
20:42In two hours, you will be presenting two of the six looks in your collection to the judges.
20:51This is honestly the last thing that I want to hear right now.
20:54Because I don't have a lot of stuff done, so it's kind of hard to feel for your collection when you don't really have enough done.
21:01The purpose is to receive their feedback in order to best prepare for your New York Fashion Week finale show in just two days.
21:10In 15 minutes, your two models will be in for fittings.
21:14And I will see you a little later, okay?
21:17All right.
21:18Welcome back.
21:22What the hell am I showing?
21:24I do not want to show two looks already.
21:26I mean, I've worked on so many different elements of all the looks that I haven't focused on getting two done.
21:31Oh, there's so much work that has to be done.
21:33Oh, my gosh.
21:34I'm so scared.
21:36Guys, I don't know which ones to show.
21:38I want to show, like, strong things, but I don't want to show my strongest things.
21:43Hi.
21:44Hi.
21:45Hi.
21:46Hi.
21:47We're going to put you in this skirt.
21:48Hi, babe.
21:49And this really cute top.
21:51I want to show this blue pencil skirt and this straw jacket dress.
21:57I think there's enough design in each of the looks that I show to represent a full collection.
22:04My inspiration was, like, military.
22:05I'm, like, Russian because I have to finish.
22:07I decided to put Dominique in green pants with the oversized bomber.
22:12And as for Victoria, I'm putting her in the bulletproof vest inspired crop top with boyfriend shorts.
22:18However, I haven't even made the wide look shorts yet.
22:21So that's what I'll be making this morning.
22:24All right.
22:25So is it way too big?
22:27Yeah.
22:28Okay.
22:29I decided to pick my two looks that, you know, I don't like to say that my least favorite.
22:32Just, like, there's a few elements in them that I'm a little bit unsure about.
22:36Like, I don't know if they're going to like the mirrors.
22:38So I just wanted to see what they think.
22:40Can you turn around?
22:41I think that everyone's stressed about having a preview.
22:43What if they tell me that I need to go throw these outfits away and start over and burn them?
22:47Like, ah, what?
22:48I'm freaking out.
22:50But, you know, keeping it calm and cool on the outside.
22:53Designers and models, let's go down to the runway for our preview.
22:57All right.
22:58All right.
22:59I'm definitely nervous about having a preview.
23:01What if it goes horribly?
23:02If they hate these two, they're probably going to hate the whole collection.
23:06So, just crossing my fingers that they love them.
23:09If the judges don't like the two that I'm sending down at this point, I'm just going to go crazy.
23:14You got it?
23:17Zachary.
23:18I'm coming.
23:19The looks that I want to show I don't think are even close to being runway ready.
23:24Let's go, go, go, go, go.
23:26I'm so scared.
23:27I don't know how the judges are going to take to all the unfinished details.
23:40The winner of Project Runway Junior will receive a full scholarship to the prestigious FIDM in California,
23:46a complete home sewing and crafting studio provided by Brother, a feature in Seventeen Magazine,
23:51and a $25,000 cash prize to help launch their line.
24:02Hello, everybody.
24:03Hello.
24:04Welcome back to New York and to the runway.
24:08You guys are going to be showing during New York Fashion Week.
24:11How does that feel?
24:12It's crazy.
24:13Crazy.
24:14Zachary, now you know you're here because Tim Gunn used his save.
24:17Yes.
24:18How does that feel?
24:19I feel so grateful to be here.
24:20I mean, it's been a roller coaster, but I'm glad I'm here.
24:23And we are so glad that Tim saved you also.
24:25So, thanks, Tim.
24:27Okay, here's what's happening.
24:30Each of you are going to show us two looks from your collection.
24:33This is a preview for us so we can give you some feedback before your big fashion show.
24:38One of you will be the winner of the very first Project Runway Junior
24:42and receive a full scholarship to FIDM in California.
24:47Let's say hello to our judges.
24:49First, we have fashion designer Christian Siriano.
24:52Hello.
24:53Hi.
24:54Fashion critic and fashion designer Kelly Osborne.
24:57Hi, designers.
24:58Hi.
24:59And fashion director for Seventeen and Cosmopolitan magazines, Aya Kanai.
25:03Hi, everyone.
25:04Hi.
25:05Also, we have Tim Gunn here.
25:07He has his little notebook in hand and he's going to take notes for you today.
25:12Okay, let's start the show.
25:13Let's go.
25:20This means the world to me, knowing that I'm showing a collection during New York Fashion
25:25Week.
25:26Like, I can't even let that sink in.
25:29My hand-painted top look, I feel like my vision is starting to come through.
25:32But in my orange dress, I just don't work in the way that I want it to.
25:35You know, sitting on the runway, instead of the fabric moving, it just catches up the air.
25:40I just want to wish there was someone I could tell the judges, like, please don't freak out on me.
25:45My whole collection doesn't look like this.
25:47I'm going to fix this.
25:48I promise.
25:56I'm feeling really nervous right now.
25:59Tim may have loved it, but you don't know what the judges are going to think.
26:10I hope that all the judges like this floral print, because that's my vision and aesthetic.
26:25I'm very proud of my silhouette.
26:28I stand out the most compared to the other designers, because I have hardcore menswear, but it's so feminine.
26:38However, I just wish that the pieces were done and not all these raw edges.
26:43I have a very classical elegant style, but everybody else has crazy plays with pockets or embroidery or thread or paint, and I don't really have any of that stuff.
27:03I'm nervous because I don't really know where I stand with the judges, especially after Tim saves me.
27:11I feel like the underdog.
27:12I feel like the underdog.
27:25Katie, let's bring out your models.
27:31Interesting.
27:33That just changed everything.
27:34I know.
27:35Sorry, I was, like, on the wrong side.
27:38And you're sure it doesn't sit?
27:41On the hip.
27:42Oh, yeah, it's supposed to go, like, right here.
27:44You want it to be straight down the middle?
27:45Yeah, right down the middle.
27:47Like that.
27:48Because when it walked the runway, it was pretty asymmetrical.
27:52Yeah, I, like, that wasn't how it's supposed to be in the beginning.
27:55Okay.
27:56I actually liked that it was asymmetrical.
27:58Me too.
27:59Can you twist it really quick?
28:00Yeah.
28:01I'm just curious.
28:02I think it's just cooler.
28:03Okay.
28:04Keep it like that.
28:05And I hope that you play with this asymmetry and other pieces.
28:09I think it could be really strong.
28:11Because I like your vibe here.
28:15Katie, tell us about your inspiration and your two pieces.
28:18So, if my inspiration for my collection was how many stamps my girl's passport has.
28:24You know, I'm trying to look like each piece, she either brought the fabric in a different country,
28:28she brought the look in a different country, you know, without being too literal.
28:32I have this brocade fabric and I glued like a bunch of mirrors onto it.
28:37Just like, for the lights to hit it.
28:39Like, it'll look cool.
28:41And then I, um, hand painted each of this, like, gold stripes on the piping or along the sides.
28:48And then my little sister, she always likes to hand draw these kind of designs.
28:53So I had her hand draw all of these designs onto the leather.
28:57Little Zoe.
28:58Wow.
28:59How old is your sister?
29:00She is 13.
29:02A 13 year old girl drew that on, is that leather?
29:05Yeah, it's leather.
29:06She's free handed everything.
29:07Wow.
29:09That's beautiful.
29:10As you can see, please just hone in on the fit of how you really want this to look.
29:15Yes, I, these are supposed to be here.
29:17Don't worry.
29:18So you know that needs a dart right there.
29:19Yeah.
29:20Because if it doesn't, it's going to kill me.
29:21I'm going to go crazy.
29:22Don't worry.
29:24Like, I can't look at that side boob at all.
29:28And then, so for the second look, I have this, like, orange, almost gown, I guess.
29:34And then I put this, um, a peak of gold leather underneath it.
29:38We have to find a way to get that flowing a little bit more because it's so beautiful standing here, but you want it to move.
29:47Okay.
29:48The color choice that you have is beautiful.
29:51I love the gold and the orange.
29:53Thank you so much.
29:54And how did these two looks represent your whole collection?
29:57These looks, I feel like, kind of tie my collection together, so that's why I chose these, you know.
30:03Maybe I wouldn't wear it together, but individually, everything you've done is amazing.
30:09Like, your eye for pattern and texture is just incredible.
30:13And I really don't want you to go too far.
30:16Or couldn't it be cool if she went really far and they are very, like, culturally styled?
30:22Because it's almost like you're not really sure what city.
30:25It's not that it's a small world ride at Disneyland.
30:27Why not?
30:28Why that would be amazing?
30:29I don't agree.
30:30You don't have to.
30:31Can't wait to see it on Friday.
30:34Thank you so much.
30:36Thank you, girls.
30:37You can leave the runway.
30:40Zachary, let's bring out your models.
30:48Zachary, tell us about your inspiration, your looks, and how they represent your collection.
30:52I was really inspired by the softer side of nature elements, crystals and trees, and I always see the very structured side of it.
31:00So this time I saw the more feminine side and the more softer side, and I wanted to really play with this idea of duality and play on, like, the black and juxtapose it with the creams and all these different color elements, but in a softer tone.
31:13When you present your stories to me, I love it.
31:16Now I'm really understanding, and when you were talking about structure and playing it off of each other, now I can totally get where you've gone with the color palette, your mix of texture with softer fabrics.
31:26I love that you've lined the inside of it, and I like the piping.
31:31It's my pop of color.
31:32But what I'm a little bit scared of, you need to figure out a way to try and make this look a little bit more youthful.
31:38Okay.
31:39Because a certain age bracket of women would be looking at this.
31:42It does look very expensive.
31:44It does look like a sophisticated woman.
31:46But there's parts of you missing in here, is what I was saying.
31:49Like, take it up there, you know what I mean?
31:51Yeah.
31:52I know you're going to have trouble with how you fit the big skirt.
31:56When I look from waist down, I don't want it to look like a parachute dress.
32:00Make sure you don't put too much volume in the bottom.
32:02I commend you on the bubble hem.
32:04It's quite a challenge.
32:05I just want to know, is the petal applique going to go anywhere else, or is that it?
32:08It's going to be faded up and starts more over here on the side, and then up in a more triangular shape, kind of mimicking the neckline.
32:15Wait, you're going to go up here?
32:17No, no, no, no.
32:18Just up here.
32:19Okay.
32:20I like that they're toward the hem, and I think it would be really beautiful if they came kind of cascading from underneath your underlayer.
32:27That was an idea, and I actually started doing that.
32:29And I think if you took it a little bit further, I think it would be really beautiful.
32:33All right.
32:34I love that you use pastels and black, because it just makes it feel a little bit more youthful.
32:40I don't love the lapel.
32:42It's looking very chunky.
32:43But it's more like a coat dress, right?
32:45Yeah.
32:46That was the intention.
32:47Can I see what it looks like if you just flip the color up?
32:52See, that's really chic when it just sticks out like that.
32:56See, that's how you need to show it.
32:59That makes it more youthful.
33:00I wish that you used a black belt.
33:03That might make it a little younger.
33:05And although I do love the fit of this, a young girl's not wearing this.
33:10I would love to see this dress with pockets.
33:13Do they have pockets?
33:14That was actually my intention.
33:15I think that could make it look a little younger, a little cooler.
33:18Yeah.
33:19I was going over all the looks when I was editing, and that was one of the things I really wanted to add, was pockets.
33:23So, the Zachary woman is a bit more of a mature woman, and I know that all of our feedback is about like make it young, make it cool.
33:32I know this is contradictory, but like just because he's a young designer doesn't mean he has to design for young people.
33:40That has never been Zachary's point of view, ever one minute of this competition.
33:45This vest over trousers look has an evening vibe.
33:49It's a more mature flavor, but it has something new about the design that is purely Zachary.
33:56That's what I want to get from the other looks.
33:59Okay, that's my way.
34:00Thank you, Zachary.
34:01Thank you, models.
34:02You can leave the runway.
34:11Maya, tell us about your inspiration, your looks, and how they represent your collection.
34:16So, as you know, I've had this warrior vibe to a lot of the things that I've made.
34:22So, I decided to create sort of this inspiration of a warrior standing in the field of yellow flowers.
34:30And I decided that I would use a lot of black and white with the flower accents.
34:36And then there's also a Japanese vibe to it with the thick belts.
34:41So, that's where the inspiration for my collection came from.
34:45I love the fact that it's sort of see-through and it has that movement.
34:49So, it's really fun to see them walk down the runway.
34:53I really love these two looks.
34:56I love your use of illusion, like what's seen and what's not seen.
35:02When both of your models move, you can see those arms and legs and the limbs, like, move in and out of the sheer fabric.
35:10And I really hope that that's something that carries on through your collection.
35:15It does.
35:16I love the piping on this sheer cape.
35:18Can you turn around?
35:22Oh, wow.
35:23I didn't even notice that the first time.
35:25I think if you left that raw or just like a baby hem, I don't think it would have been as impactful.
35:30I think it would have looked kind of like a robe.
35:32And I think that this makes it look kind of very expensive.
35:35I know I've been saying this this whole season, but it blows my mind.
35:38You are so good at what you do.
35:40It's beautiful, but because you've chosen to use white, that's where you've got to be careful.
35:45Because white does not leave room for error anywhere.
35:49Even though these are two very, like, womanly, ladylike looks, you still add in kind of a youthful sport element with your grommeted, laced up belts.
36:01The zippers, the black and white element gives it an American sportswear vibe.
36:06It kind of feels really fresh and modern, even though it also is quite ladylike and feminine.
36:13I hope that we can also see some day looks in addition to these evening looks.
36:19What does your woman wear during the day?
36:21That's what I want to know now.
36:23Thank you so much.
36:24All right, Maya. Thank you.
36:26Models, you can leave the runway. Thanks.
36:29Samantha, tell us about your inspiration, your look, and how they represent your collection.
36:35So I just want to start off by saying this is not done.
36:38I made this this morning, these shorts.
36:41So as for my inspiration, I was inspired by tactical military uniforms.
36:47However, I wanted to make it more feminine.
36:50For this look, I have this bulletproof inspired vest.
36:54And what I wanted to do with this was these wide leg shorts.
36:59This is this look.
37:00I'm playing around with the VisionWorks accessories because we do have to use glasses for, you know, at least one of the looks.
37:08Dominique is wearing these really cool like boyfriend shorts, but they're not too short.
37:12They're not too long. So I feel like proportion wise, it's pretty cool.
37:15You know, I still have to hem them. I kind of just got to do some things basically.
37:19And then for the top, it should be maybe fitted, but you know, I'm doing the top over.
37:25You got a lot of work, girl.
37:28No, because I don't want you guys to think that if she's sending that down the runway on Friday, you know what I mean?
37:32Like I wanted to, you know, have a preview.
37:35So throughout my collection, it's like gray, this really cool green.
37:40And then I wanted to play with textures by having this soap file and the mesh neoprene.
37:45So I have like gray mesh neoprene. I'm playing with a lot of colors and textures.
37:50I think these girls are so cool.
37:53I think that this girl should wear those sunglasses because this look is amazing.
37:57I totally understand your issues with the silk file short.
38:01I think that you should fuse the fabric. Silk file is really hard and shows every kind of everything.
38:08Got it.
38:09I have loved your play on masculine and feminine from the beginning.
38:14That said, tomboy style needs to mean more than cargo pockets and culottes and Bermuda shorts.
38:21I want to know what your wow factor is.
38:24So you have a lot of work.
38:25Okay.
38:26I mean, how are you going to remake a top and a short?
38:29Well, if I made this this morning in like 10 minutes, I'm pretty sure I got it.
38:34Yeah, thanks.
38:36See, I love this color palette so much.
38:39And normally that's my biggest complaint with you.
38:42I am obsessed with this deep aqua color.
38:45I think you did a great job, but you're finishing.
38:47I mean, it's gotta, it's gotta be perfect because it's really holding you back.
38:50Right.
38:52Thank you, Samantha.
38:54All right, designers, we've enjoyed talking to you.
38:59There are only two days left until Fashion Week and one of you is going to win it all.
39:04You've heard your critiques.
39:05Are you nervous?
39:07You guys got a lot of work to do?
39:09Yeah.
39:10I know you can do it.
39:11All right, you guys can leave the runway.
39:19Hearing the feedback from the judges, it's really scaring me because the show's two days away.
39:23Ugh, so much work to do.
39:25I definitely want to apply the feedback to all of my looks, but there's no time.
39:29I'm like screwed, I guess.
39:31I have so much to do.
39:32I think I might scrap the gold dress.
39:34Based on the feedback from the judges, I decided to scrap the whole orange dress.
39:39Ugh, it's really nerve-wracking knowing that I have to restart a whole look because I thought that, like, I was totally in good shape.
39:46They did tell us like, oh, I like this, but then they told us a lot of what they didn't like.
39:50The judges are a little concerned that my collection is too evening, but I really don't have time to be making more looks, so I don't know what I'm going to do at this point.
40:00I'm really hoping that it's just, like, nitpicking.
40:02Yeah.
40:03No, no, no, I mean, I hope so, too, because we don't have that much time.
40:06I know.
40:07I'm really struggling.
40:08I mean, I'm doubting myself.
40:10I have a lot that I have to finish.
40:11I need, like, two more weeks.
40:13And I need $5,000 more also.
40:15I know.
40:16I only have $4 left.
40:17Hi.
40:18Hi.
40:19All right, I know that was a lot to process, so let's regroup.
40:24It's anyone's game, and you each want to have the win.
40:27And in my view, the only way you're going to get the win is if you really step up and out and take some risks.
40:33I'm looking at the amount of work ahead of me, and I'm thinking, like, how am I going to do this?
40:38That may involve getting rid of something and getting rid of something that you're really attached to.
40:43The next two days are going to be very intense because there's a lot to do.
40:48You just have to calibrate, adjust your ambitions according to our time frame.
40:54You do very well under pressure.
40:56I know you can do this, so let's make it work.
40:59Oh, my God.
41:01I've come this far.
41:03I've worked so hard.
41:04Fashion Week is the biggest thing in the fashion world.
41:08You're almost there, and you know I believe you're all winners, and you are.
41:12But one of you is going to win it all.
41:16We are so close to the prize, but it's a lot of work that I have to do.
41:23I really have to show the world who I am and what I can do.
41:28It's kind of opened my eyes that if I win this, all the possibilities that could happen.
