00:00Previously on Project Runway.
00:05Welcome to The Runway.
00:06One designer will be cut every week until three remain.
00:10Those three will show their line at Olympus Fashion Week.
00:13Then one winner will be chosen.
00:15The winner will receive a spread in Elle magazine,
00:18a mentorship with Banana Republic design team,
00:21and $100,000 to start their own line.
00:24The winner is Austin.
00:26I want to be the winner of Project Runway.
00:28It's just a dream come true.
00:30The winner of the silent auction is Cara Son.
00:33When they said you're safe for the next round,
00:35I just wanted to start jumping.
00:37Wendy, you are the winner of the Banana Republic Challenge.
00:40Obviously, it changed my life.
00:42I mean, of course, how could it not?
00:50Daniel is out.
00:52Mario, out.
00:53Star is out.
00:58This is a search for the next big fashion designer.
01:01It's a cutthroat business.
01:02The competition is fierce.
01:05Twelve contestants, three finalists, and one winner.
01:09Three designers will make their Runway debut at Olympus Fashion Week.
01:13I plan to make it to Fashion Week.
01:14I think I'll be number one.
01:15And the winner of Project Runway will receive everything they need to start their own label.
01:19I think I deserve to win.
01:21People are going to start getting pretty bitchy.
01:23Oh, my.
01:24For these twelve contestants, Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
01:28Hi.
01:29Hey, baby.
01:30So three designers have been eliminated.
01:34And there are nine of you left.
01:36Are you ready for your next challenge?
01:38Yes.
01:39Okay.
01:40Fashion and music go hand in hand.
01:42And this week is all about rock and roll.
01:46Oh.
01:47Ooh.
01:48So this time around, I'm going to have you design for a rising rock star.
01:58When I looked at the video, I was just, like, so blown away by what was happening.
02:04I immediately got inspired.
02:06An idea immediately came to mind of what I would make for her.
02:17I'm a costume designer and a fashion designer.
02:19But in LA, you know, I've worked with Eve, you know, Prima Tifa, Busta Rhymes.
02:24So I'm loving this challenge.
02:31Please meet Sarah Hudson.
02:33Sarah has a new album out called Naked Truth.
02:35Naked Truth on S-Curve Records.
02:37Hi.
02:38Hi.
02:39Hello.
02:40Here are the designers.
02:41All the lovely designers.
02:42Hi.
02:43This challenge is all about collaboration.
02:45Fashion and music go hand in hand.
02:47Designers and rock stars have influenced each other for decades.
02:50You will be designing a new look head to toe for Sarah.
02:53Soon you guys will be pitching your designs.
02:55But first, do you guys want to ask us some questions?
02:58Do you plan on carrying on the same type of look altogether?
03:01Yeah, I think something just sexy but girly, kind of little girl gone crazy but, you know, classy at the same time.
03:11I really love to sort of Alice in Wonderland.
03:13I just love that whole look.
03:15I thought it was lovely.
03:16Yeah, I mean definitely Alice in Wonderland is like the epitome of, you know, lost a little girl in this like crazy environment.
03:26Are we good?
03:27Good.
03:28Yes.
03:29Thanks, Sarah.
03:31Bye.
03:32Bye.
03:33Bye.
03:34Now that you know your challenge, let's move on to the models.
03:37Let's bring them out.
03:41Every time the model's eliminated, I get more worried.
03:47I don't want to be eliminated.
03:49As you all know, there's a spread in Elle magazine on the line for the final model.
03:54There are nine designers and ten models on the runway.
03:59One model will be out.
04:01Wendy won the last challenge, so she will get to pick first.
04:06Thanks, Heidi.
04:07This week, I would like to work with Morgan.
04:13Austin.
04:14Julia.
04:15Vanessa.
04:16Olga.
04:17Alexandra.
04:18Martinique.
04:19Laura.
04:20Joy.
04:21Last week, I had to decide between two wonderful models.
04:24One that would stay and work with me, and the other one would be out.
04:28Melissa.
04:30Erin.
04:31Jenny.
04:34Robert.
04:35There's one button in my bag, and it's yours.
04:38And it's the second time in a row that you will choose which model is in, and which one
04:43is out.
04:44It's between Audrey and Josie Ann.
04:48Thank you for the second time.
04:50Wow.
04:51Josie's pulled for me at last week's challenge to the very, very end.
04:56Oh, never forget that, but I have to go with Audrey.
05:00So that means Josie Ann is out.
05:01I'm sorry.
05:02I'm going to go cry outside.
05:03I'm sorry.
05:04I'm going to go cry outside.
05:05I'm sorry.
05:06I'm sorry.
05:07I'm sorry.
05:08I'm going to go cry outside.
05:09I'm sorry.
05:10The challenge was to design an outfit for a rock star.
05:14I know Josie's character.
05:15I believe that I could have gotten more out of Audrey.
05:19I'm sorry.
05:20I'm sorry.
05:21You will be out.
05:22Auf Wiedersehen.
05:24Bye.
05:25Bye.
05:26Bye.
05:27I feel sorry for me.
05:29From now on, it's just going to get harder and harder every time when someone has to
05:34go.
05:35But think about your challenge now, and I see you back on the runway.
05:38Good morning, everyone.
05:43Good morning.
05:44Good morning.
05:45It is challenge four.
05:46There are nine of you left.
05:48You are designing a performance outfit for Sarah Hudson.
05:53She's coming here this morning, as you know, and you're going to each be pitching to
05:57her.
05:58You have five minutes.
05:59We really want you to inspire her.
06:02You have to also think about the time constraint.
06:04You will have until midnight tonight, and an hour and a half or so in the morning, to
06:10work on this.
06:11The judging's tomorrow.
06:12The judging's tomorrow.
06:13Not tomorrow.
06:14Wow.
06:15It's called Make It Work.
06:16Okay.
06:17So, as part of this challenge, each of the designers were asked to sort of prepare our
06:22little presentation of some ideas, sketches to give to her.
06:27I'll probably just go to the future, like to 2040, where no one knows what fashion's
06:32going to make, so I can just sell some and be like, well, this is what all the people
06:36are going to be wearing then.
06:41This is sort of like, it's almost like I was imagining you as like this old broken
06:46Victorian doll.
06:47Right.
06:48Or like, with this big sort of fufru, like little bow peepee, but with like definite edge.
06:54Right.
06:55You know, very low and sexy, lots of like cleavage and bustier action.
06:59Right.
07:00I wanted to do like, you know, like corsets with like hardware.
07:02T-shirt idea.
07:03Which could be tie-dyed.
07:04Making something graphic Edwardian.
07:06Okay.
07:07I was like, I'm going to kick some ass, and I don't want to be mediocre anymore.
07:11Kind of control, out of control.
07:13Mm-hmm.
07:14And circus.
07:15I like that.
07:16Everything is see-through.
07:18It's not overt sex.
07:19Classic, erotic, pornographic lingerie.
07:22I want to do this kind of multimedia skirt over top that you can just literally with
07:25like a seatbelt and go press and it pops on.
07:28I love that.
07:29Hot.
07:30I'm totally suited to this.
07:32Me and Sarah, I think hit it off and she totally wants to me.
07:35French prostitutes, 2015.
07:37I'm into French prostitutes.
07:391940s and 1950s pinup girl meets Marilyn Manson.
07:43A girl who ran through a chandelier.
07:46My costume designed for Eve and some other artists.
07:48Awesome.
07:49Cool.
07:50So it's really cool.
07:51So the areas that I was thinking of is princess gone bad look.
07:54Right.
07:55And then I thought of debutante gone bad.
07:57That's so perfect.
08:00Sarah has met with each of you.
08:02I know that she's very impressed with the work that she saw.
08:04We have instructed Sarah to choose the top three designers.
08:08Those of you who are selected will come forward when Sarah calls your name and you will select
08:18your team from the remainder of the group.
08:21So we will have three teams of three.
08:24And each team will execute the work of the selected designer.
08:29Turns out that we were going to have to work in teams.
08:33It just ramped up the stress a million percent.
08:36Sarah.
08:37Sarah.
08:38So the first person that I picked is.
08:43Coming up on project runway.
08:45I'm out of here.
08:46No, no, no, no, no.
08:47I came here to compete.
08:49And not to be around with for somebody.
08:51We have instructed Sarah to choose the top three designers.
08:58Those of you who are selected will come forward when Sarah calls your name.
09:04And you will select your team from the remainder of the group.
09:08Sarah.
09:09Sarah.
09:10So the first person that I picked is Jay.
09:15And obviously there was some kind of spark between us because she picked my ass.
09:18I know what she wants.
09:19And if I got it, I'm going to give it to her.
09:22The next person that I picked is Austin.
09:23Thanks a lot.
09:24Yeah, thank you.
09:25I was very excited when I was picked because I did feel that I sort of got her whole look.
09:32The next person that I picked is Kevin.
09:35That was too soft spot.
09:36No way.
09:38It seemed like she really did like my design.
09:43But honestly, just having worked in the industry, a lot of female artists always go with male stylists.
09:49So I wasn't that surprised.
09:51Sarah has a very busy schedule.
09:52So we're going to let Sarah head off.
09:54Okay.
09:55And we thank you.
09:56And we'll see you for the judging.
09:57Okay.
09:58You're wonderful.
09:59Thank you so much.
10:01Bye.
10:02Bye.
10:03You will each be choosing one person at a time according to the order in which
10:08I pull you out of our velvet bag.
10:11So the first person to choose will be Kevin.
10:15Okay.
10:16It's pretty intense.
10:17I was like, for the first time, picking one of my competitors to be, you know, on my team.
10:23This is crazy, you guys.
10:25I know.
10:26I know we're on.
10:27I know we're on.
10:28I know we're on.
10:29Carison.
10:30I'm getting a sewing bunny on my team.
10:34Wendy.
10:35Dude.
10:36Woo!
10:37That's my man.
10:38I have to make the tiebreaker.
10:43Let's think.
10:44I picked Rob.
10:45Great.
10:46Who's the one that can't sew?
10:47Vanessa's kind of like, oh no, I can't sew.
10:48All she does is talk about how she can't sew.
10:49So I need things sewn.
10:50So I'm not going to pick her if she cannot sew.
10:51I'm sure that because of all my vocalizing about how much I don't like sewing, put everybody
10:54off instantly.
10:55She was left over, so I ended up just getting her.
11:07I have to be a strong competitor.
11:08And that means someone has to go.
11:09And if Vanessa is in a weak state and she gets eliminated, that unfortunately benefits me.
11:22Can I have your attention for a minute?
11:23Can I have your attention for a minute?
11:25You are each getting $150.
11:28You will have an hour for shopping.
11:31Devise a strategy quickly and we're going out.
11:34Just be like, wait, we need D-rings.
11:38You're the one who runs fine with that word.
11:41The kind of overall theme of what I'm going to go with is French prostitutes in the year
11:462050.
11:47I'm glad I'm working on something that I actually really liked.
11:51It's this big poofy skirt that's going to be shredded and all different funky colors.
11:57What about bows on the side of little knickers, no?
12:00Sarah really liked the sort of 18th century French revolutionary look with corsets and
12:06this hitched up skirts and like trains and all these sort of period details.
12:10She's really into like poof.
12:12Maybe bows on the garters.
12:14It's just so far from what I would ever design.
12:18I suppose it's a good opportunity to do something different really.
12:22The part that I'm really good at is the part that he's doing.
12:25What?
12:26You know, the design and the thought process and all of that.
12:31Everything else I don't do.
12:32No, that's not true Vanessa.
12:34The look I'm doing is kind of a little bit of a sane asylum because there's like straps
12:39hanging.
12:40We're doing hot pinks and like black fishnet stockings, like Barbie, like crazy, you know,
12:45like rock and roll twist.
12:47But it's fun.
12:48It's very fun.
12:49I'm scared you guys.
12:50Why?
12:51Not you.
12:52Make sure we don't miss anything.
12:53No.
12:54Believe me.
12:55Believe me.
12:56Never forget the details.
12:59Yeah.
13:00We never get eliminated.
13:01No.
13:02We would never.
13:03We would not, no.
13:04We had figured out what we wanted before we went and then we kind of delegated.
13:11Kara-san was there and she knew exactly what she wanted to get and Rob, I'm kind of just treating
13:16like a slave.
13:17Robert, where are you going?
13:19Here is headquarters at this table.
13:21So, base fabric for the jacket.
13:23This.
13:24I don't think that I'm going to rub Kevin the wrong way.
13:27I think we're a good team.
13:29We need that and stiff.
13:30We need graphic like that.
13:31I had to make the selection of color.
13:32I needed their feedback.
13:33Especially because I'm looking at Noir for more of a stylistic point of view.
13:37Like the eye.
13:38I don't want to bring green into this.
13:39I don't think it's like good.
13:40You're right.
13:41You're right.
13:42You're right.
13:43You're right.
13:44Wendy and Vanessa are giving all the basic threads and notions and things we need.
13:50We've got tons of money left out.
13:52We can get what we wanted.
13:54Right, but does he want lights?
13:56Vanessa had a lot of issues with Austin's vision.
13:59I didn't feel that way.
14:00I don't need to know anything other than the specific things he needs done.
14:06I don't have to understand Austin's vision.
14:09Nothing.
14:10Wendy won't speak at all.
14:12She hasn't said anything.
14:14She's trying to find out what would be the reason somebody would be eliminated.
14:18So should she be a good workhorse or should she be a good leader or whatever.
14:23If we buy this ribbon it will be a lot easier than trying to finish all the ends of what he wants.
14:28Do you see what I mean?
14:29Otherwise we have to hem it all.
14:31How can we do that by midnight?
14:33I don't know.
14:34It just something feels weird about her.
14:36She won't speak.
14:37You guys, I do not like being in charge of this as fellow designers.
14:51Had I been chosen, I wouldn't care about my assistant designers, you know, how they felt about it.
14:59But if you have it rule, you need to echo it somewhere, somewhere else.
15:03Well all the ruffles are going to be raw on the bias.
15:05They are?
15:06Yeah, that would be cool.
15:10I'm sure Winnie you don't look.
15:11I'm just ready to go.
15:12When you put people in teams, you're bound to have people whose heads are going to butt.
15:16Kevin, I really need to stop with the meticulous details right now.
15:21It's not meticulous.
15:22Yes it is because it's 9.20.
15:23Yeah, and we have five hours.
15:25No we don't.
15:26I don't feel like doing major construction tomorrow morning.
15:28I'm really sorry.
15:29Nora was, you know, kind of just unwilling to do things this way and she was even disputing just like the design which was really up to Kevin as the head designer of the team.
15:40You see?
15:41It's not like the drawing.
15:42What?
15:43It's not like the drawing.
15:44Yes it is.
15:45Nora couldn't get her hands around the fact that it was Kevin's design.
15:48We're going to lose this competition.
15:50Thanks.
15:51Perfect.
15:52I know.
15:53You know what you're doing.
15:54Kara's not very helpful and thinks she's a great asset to this team.
15:58And Rob, he was just along for the ride for goofy factor.
16:03I'm fucking shitting.
16:06Now what?
16:09Can I fuck up?
16:12Yeah.
16:13Go stand away from me.
16:15Robert loves to talk.
16:17He doesn't really know how to do lots of work.
16:21We don't have time for this.
16:26Every machine you touch turns to trash.
16:31I'll do it manually.
16:41I looked up at the clock and it was like 1030.
16:44A lot of this stuff hadn't still been sewn yet.
16:46And a lot of the stuff that my group needed to use was missing.
16:51One of our pattern pieces are missing.
16:53What?
16:54It's gone.
16:55I kind of looked around the room and just was like, what the ?
17:00It was right there in a pile of three.
17:03Did somebody remove a pattern from here?
17:05Okay, that's not cool.
17:08It's really important because I mean that's what we're making our garment out of and we can't find it.
17:13What do we do?
17:14I don't know.
17:15He's going to have to drape us a new one or help us find it.
17:18I don't know what to do.
17:20I was gone for like 15, 20 minutes.
17:23I come back down and it was chaos.
17:25You lost the other piece.
17:27The piece is huge.
17:28I know.
17:29It disappeared off the face of the earth.
17:31We lost the pattern piece and I kind of was a little upset.
17:34I didn't yell.
17:35I said fine, whatever.
17:36I'm checking if it stuck to anything.
17:38I told you not to take this off.
17:40I know, I'm sorry, but like it fell off first of all when we were cutting it and I freaked out.
17:45Okay, I'm going to fix this.
17:47Why line it?
17:48Yeah.
17:49Don't argue with me.
17:50Okay, that's all I have to know.
17:51This is not the way they do it.
17:52It's not the best way to do it.
17:53It is the fastest way to do it.
17:54The pattern's faster.
17:58Not at 11 o'clock it's not.
17:59I know from there.
18:00You want to bet?
18:01No, I don't want to bet, Kevin.
18:03I could have had the skirt already done.
18:07I'm out of here.
18:08No, no, no, no.
18:09Sweetie.
18:11I came here to compete.
18:13And not to be around with by somebody.
18:18Coming up on Project Runway.
18:19With exhaustion comes bitchiness.
18:21It's just so messed up.
18:23With bitchiness comes anger.
18:24Don't ever push me again.
18:25This in the air.
18:28And I think it'd be fun to watch.
18:36It's about 11 o'clock.
18:39We have about one hour left.
18:42So we do have more work to do.
18:45This is all done.
18:46It's in the background.
18:47It's gorgeous.
18:48I'm pretty confident that we can do it.
18:50I've got a great team.
18:51Gorgeous, it's gorgeous.
18:53You're right.
18:54Ready?
18:55Seriously, do you have another?
18:56Houston, we have a problem.
18:58Tweezers.
18:59Go get Austin's tweezers.
19:00I was on the machine and the needle snapped.
19:04And went straight through my finger.
19:06And I had about half a needle stuck in my finger.
19:10Tweezers.
19:11Vanessa said she had needles stuck.
19:13It's not a small amount.
19:14It's like half an inch.
19:15Here, just.
19:16Tweezers.
19:17No, no, no, no.
19:18No, no, no, no.
19:20No, stop.
19:21Go away.
19:22Leave the room, please.
19:24I've done this before.
19:25Please.
19:26Shh.
19:27She's fine.
19:28You're going bugging out.
19:29Relax.
19:30You're so.
19:31I come over to Austin.
19:32I'm like, Austin, you know, Vanessa's in trouble.
19:34You need help.
19:35You have tweezers.
19:36And he's like, ah.
19:37Robert was like being sort of clumsy and in the way.
19:40So I was just freaking out.
19:42And I guess I pushed him.
19:44Austin's like, Rob, just leave the room now.
19:47I look at him and I just kind of started laughing in a way.
19:50I'm like, what?
19:51You know, I don't want to make a scene on top of a scene.
19:52I was like, Austin, don't ever push me again.
19:55I didn't feel that I was like a violent attack.
19:58I will bitch slap him soon.
19:59Even though I am a lot bigger and stronger than him.
20:04He's just been in and out and he's been fumbling over things and just kind of like being very strange to me.
20:10And I really think he's with me.
20:12I have my eye on him.
20:17Kevin.
20:19All right.
20:20I'm sorry.
20:21It's okay.
20:22It's just that when we lost that corset piece, we started to freak.
20:25I don't think I lost it.
20:26I think it was Jacob.
20:27What do I do?
20:28All of a sudden, it's like someone stole my pattern piece.
20:33It's automatically.
20:34No one ever thinks I just misplaced something.
20:36I don't think people are stealing.
20:37I don't think anybody took it.
20:38I think they just lost it.
20:39But it's not going to stop us.
20:40They can't stop us.
20:41Everything's gone.
20:42Everything's gone now.
20:43Cheers.
20:44We're just going to drape a new piece.
20:45So you can steal all you want.
20:46I'm just going to keep going.
20:47So that's that.
20:48If I was missing a pattern piece, I would have made another one and kept on going.
20:50We have 15 minutes to really think that we can pull it off.
20:52To act like somebody's stolen it or whatever.
20:55I mean, it's just like being in a total nut farm.
20:58Oh, I can't see.
21:15I responded to the stealing of the fabric by singing.
21:22the stealing of the fabric by singing.
21:24I cannot carry on without my friend.
21:27I thought it was just absolutely perfect.
21:32I can stop.
21:38This bitch is going to get stabbed.
21:41What really got me was when Vanessa just decided to, like, burst into the room.
21:46You know, it's like if you were in this situation, you wouldn't want to be hearing a Broadway
21:49show about it.
21:50Actually, if I were in this situation, I would have received me an accuser, and I accused
21:56everyone.
21:57Carisan, I never accuse everyone.
22:00I never said anything about you or anybody else.
22:03And if it was me expressing it against any of you, you would have heard it through my
22:07mouth.
22:10People are just very paranoid and thinking that other people are sabotaging them.
22:14She did accuse everyone of stealing it.
22:17And then Carisan, like, called her on it.
22:20I'm so upset that they would ever think that.
22:27It really, really bothers me.
22:29If they don't hear it from my mouth, why would they ever think that?
22:34And that's just so messed up.
22:36And I never pointed a finger at any of them.
22:40I don't understand why.
22:42Because your roommate and your friend just chill out and relax.
22:44I don't understand why Carisan had to say that to me.
22:47I never expressed that feeling, and maybe I shouldn't have.
22:51I just think that there's been a lot of the choosing of missing things going on.
22:56And I'm not saying that you were choosing me personally.
22:58No, there's just a lot.
22:58I don't want to go home.
23:00I'm too good for this.
23:02I'm sorry.
23:03I don't know.
23:03I don't think she's really grown up yet.
23:05She was bawling.
23:06She was bawling hard.
23:08People had to come over and hold her.
23:10And I think it wasted probably a good, solid three hours of work.
23:16The meltdown was good in a way.
23:18And it might sound kind of bizarre, but like, once I had it, I was just like, boom, let's just do this.
23:38Good night, kids.
23:39Good night.
23:39Good night, Dress.
23:48This time it's going to be tricky because we were sort of working as a group.
23:54We don't know how they're going to eliminate someone.
23:57Is it like the designer or is it the losing team?
23:59It's kind of complexing.
24:02I think that I'm going to be going home today.
24:04I just have this feeling that the leader of the team is going to be able to fire somebody.
24:10And although I saved Kevin's ass by making him do work, I mean, I had to psych out a little bit last night.
24:17It was the only way to get through.
24:18I bet you $10 if I had eliminated today, not one tear.
24:24Good morning, everybody.
24:32Good morning, Tim.
24:32Can I ask you to gather around?
24:34I heard a report about last night.
24:37And I just want to ensure that the behavior on the runway is as professional as possible.
24:43So you have two hours to work and to get ready.
24:47Okay?
24:48Carry on.
24:49Thanks.
24:49We had a really fun time last night.
24:57That's why we're all in a good mood.
24:59Finally doing just like the last stitch where the dress is together.
25:02Now it's just a matter of sort of final sort of little adjustments.
25:07Hey, look.
25:08I don't want you to get cross with me, but I'm sewing down this thing at the back.
25:12What?
25:12Because it...
25:12No.
25:13No.
25:14No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
25:14But it won't hold it, Austin.
25:16I don't care.
25:17It holds the whole bow, and the bow needs to be free and loose.
25:23Completely disgusting.
25:25Wow.
25:26Tell me about it.
25:28This is a work of art in itself.
25:31Incredible.
25:35Come on, Rose.
25:37Now you wanted some red and some dreadlocks and stuff like that?
25:39Yeah.
25:40Austin and I and Wendy's team had the option of using three really good, great girls, and
25:45we went with Morgan.
25:46She's been difficult, and dramatic, and moody, and crazy.
25:55That's Morgan.
25:56I know what you need.
25:57Go down together.
25:58Okay.
26:05Morgan's crying about something.
26:06Where are we going?
26:08I don't know what she could be upset about.
26:13Austin gets overdramatic very easily.
26:16I guess it's like the flamboyance in him.
26:17Hey, darling.
26:18Hi.
26:19Tell me what is up.
26:21We wanted the red hair look because that's Sarah's look.
26:24But the only thing is, I was booked as a blonde for next week.
26:26She's just crazy, you know?
26:28Like, why work with her?
26:30We decided, first she said, okay, because she's a great model.
26:33She's willing to work with us.
26:34Then we decided, no, she didn't want to.
26:37Red is the look, the final look.
26:40You know what?
26:41it.
26:41Just die right here.
26:42Okay.
26:43No, Morgan.
26:44You broke it.
26:44Okay.
26:45Okay.
26:45Okay.
27:15It looks great. It looks great.
27:17I think it looks really pretty on you, the strawberry.
27:20I love you. It's gonna be beautiful no matter what.
27:25I'm a question about Wilson right now because he starts, you know, kind of, like, stressing out a lot.
27:30The stress level is kind of escalating.
27:33I couldn't breathe for three hours because I was just like, oh, my God, we're gonna hold together.
27:38You do feel the temperature rising.
27:40Why is it stopping at every four?
27:44People are exhausted and with exhaustion comes bitchiness and with bitchiness comes anger and anger comes fists in the air and hair flying and all that good stuff.
28:00And I think, yeah, bring it on.
28:04Coming up on Project Runway.
28:08Designers, please step forward.
28:10We didn't know that when we were choosing.
28:12I don't think I can decide that.
28:14I'd rather just leave myself.
28:18Welcome to the runway.
28:21Nine of you are left.
28:23At the end of tonight, one of you will be out.
28:27Now, let's meet the judges.
28:30One of my favorite designers, Michael Kors.
28:32Hello.
28:33Nina Garcia, fashion director of Elle magazine.
28:37And Sarah Hudson.
28:38Her album, Naked Truth, is in stores now.
28:43This challenge was about collaboration and we will be judging you on that.
28:47We will be scoring you based on how well your team worked together.
28:52Your assignment was to create a new look head to toe for Sarah.
28:56Keep in mind that you'll be judged on your outfit and how well you use the hair and makeup products to complete the look.
29:01For this week's challenge, you worked in teams.
29:04Each team had a team leader that was chosen by Sarah.
29:08The winner of this challenge will be one of the team leaders.
29:11That means the only three that can win this challenge tonight are Austin, Kevin, or Jay.
29:21Anyone can be eliminated and you'll find out how after the runway show.
29:30Let's start the show.
29:31It's a glorious masterpiece of design.
29:44It just worked out.
29:45I got my dream team.
29:46And we've been doing a dream job, I think.
29:53I don't know whether I feel that Austin's design is a strong one today for Sarah.
29:58However, she responded to it, so I'm going to suspend judgment because she chose Austin on me.
30:04The beauty about this competition is that it's really about the look.
30:05Rock and roll can be tattered and still be very cool.
30:06The beauty about this competition is that it's really about the look.
30:09Rock and roll can be tattered and still be very cool.
30:10It looked great up there. I mean, I don't even know how, but it looked great.
30:13It looked great up there. I mean, I don't even know how, but it looked great.
30:15Congratulations.
30:16I'm your creation.
30:18Well, how about you, Walton, I'm your creation?
30:23How about you?
30:25The beauty about this competition is that it's really about the look.
30:28Rock and roll can be tattered and still be very cool.
30:31it looked great up there i mean i don't even know how but it looked great
30:40congratulations i'm your creation
30:45i thought it was really hot and weird and it really kind of screamed the power of rock and roll
31:01the dynamics between me rob and jay were great we worked well together it was really great work with
31:12jay
31:31we've tallied your scores i want to ask all the designers to please step up onto the runway
31:42jay please step forward
32:01robert please step forward
32:06karisan please step forward
32:12none of you have won but none of you are out your work has qualified you to stay in for
32:21the next round please leave the runway
32:43six of you remain
32:47you will present the best and the worst
32:54let's bring out your models
33:07i want each team leader to please talk a little bit about your design
33:12do you want to start kevin
33:13sure
33:15uh it's um sexy eduardian rockstar very free-minded very sarah i thought
33:23okay austin
33:25i came up with a few different ideas one was more of a sort of very 18th century princess
33:32and also sort of this young little girl who sort of had outgrown the nursery uh type idea
33:39so i i tried to sort of combine the two elements of both i'm very happy with the way it turned out
33:46and this challenge was about teamwork
33:49michael i want you to explain a little bit about how leadership but also the teamwork works
33:55when i first started i worked all by myself
33:58but the bigger you get and the more that you do you really have no choice to figure out the best team
34:04and there's always going to be the weak link
34:07and if you're going to push forward and you're going to be successful you're going to have to weed it out
34:13you have no choice it's just the reality that it'll be part of your designing life
34:21we want to find out who helped and who didn't
34:24this challenge was about teamwork and we will be judging you on that now i want you to go down
34:33the line and tell the judges who on your team should be in and who should be out wow
34:43we didn't know that when we were choosing i know that you didn't know that then but i ask you that now
34:48that is just the most horrible decision i could possibly make i just love them both so much
35:01i don't think i could decide that i'd rather just leave myself
35:12this is awful this is absolutely awful sarah will select the winning dress
35:29everyone else is up for elimination
35:34now we want each of you to say who from your team should be eliminated
35:39we will go down the line we can start with you nora okay um
35:48i felt that i had to help kevin along with just kind of getting everything executed
35:54in time i was constantly looking up at the clock
35:58it was ironic that she sold me out as time management when
36:02she's the one who slowed it down
36:06alessandra who on your team should be out
36:10i don't really think anybody should be out
36:13i know that's not a good answer but well but if you had to choose i agreed with nora they
36:18lost a part for over three hours that's not pretty five hours no i was crying almost the whole entire
36:24time and i hate to say that but so you're saying she totally flipped out on you basically
36:29i have to say that the experience of getting frazzled psyched me up to keep going but in a bad way
36:34not in a good way it was really just crying crying crying crying and complaining
36:43i would say nowhere for that
36:47he just told them that i cried the entire time and i was incapable of doing any work and all this
36:51other bull it was so frustrating okay let's go to austin's team why don't we start with wendy
36:57who on your team should be out i did feel that austin could have done a better job with leadership
37:05it's complete she had never mentioned that i needed to supply her with more direction or
37:13you know she wasn't quite clear on the whole idea i was very specific vanessa
37:19i think uh if i was gonna choose anyone i think i'd probably choose myself because i'm the worst sewer
37:31as soon as that diarrhea came out of my mouth i knew i'm you know i was like what the hell did i do that
37:39do you have to choose between wendy and vanessa this is horrible horrible but um it's just a you know
38:01a simple fact that uh vanessa is inspiring and talented as she is just isn't as adept in sewing as
38:09wendy and i had she perhaps been a little better it i'm sure of course it would have gone a little bit
38:15faster
38:18okay that's it we're gonna deliberate you guys can leave the runway and we will call you back shortly
38:26sarah what did you think um kevin's was like to the t it was like from his sketch to reality i think
38:39also they really thought about not just an outfit kevin thought about an image and i think that you
38:47know in the music business image is so important to ease wearing your personality totally um austin's
38:55the color wasn't what we talked about the hair wasn't what we talked about so you think he kind of
39:00he went on a little bit on a tangent i'm really not worried about it to sit and say i'm the weak link
39:10you know in a really tough industry you know what you've got to figure out a way
39:15to make yourself the strong link this is a competition
39:18i don't even care right now i'm over it i'll tell them that too if they want to hear it
39:27i was really a little concerned when kevin and his team when they started talking about the work
39:33process what went on behind the scenes here the disappearing fabric there was this long drawn
39:39out story and i and i wanted a straight answer if you had to make that garments by yourself yesterday
39:45and i could have done it faster without you oh that's how it is to have a good team is everything
39:52you can't do it all alone it's unacceptable that attitude for me
39:55as always in fashion you either in or you're out
40:04and i want sarah to choose her design the design that i chose
40:17was kevin's thank you
40:24kevin that means you are the winner of this challenge which means you're immune for the next
40:30challenge and cannot be eliminated thank you thank you thank you you can leave the wrong way
40:47wendy
40:51you're still in
41:00alexandra you're in you can leave the runway
41:16austin
41:19you're still in please leave the runway
41:30manessa and nora one of you will be in and one of you will be out
41:45vanessa
41:47you sold yourself short for this challenge
41:50you admitted that your lack of sewing skills made you the weak link
41:53nora you cracked under pressure and distracted your team to be successful in fashion you have to be
42:02strong focused and in control of your emotions so nora
42:08you're in
42:19that means manessa you're out
42:22you basically took yourself out of this competition
42:26in this business it's all about selling yourself you admitted that you were the weakest of your team
42:34and that gave us no choice you're out
42:36okay okay can i go now
42:44i'm sorry vanessa if he doesn't thank you bye
42:48i don't know what to say i've kind of it up but
42:59i mean i just i don't know what to say really
43:12i feel like i should be single but i'm not quite sure what to say
43:17next i'm gonna miss you
43:32i'm just really really upset that i never got to show america my clothes
43:38i just really wanted to do fashion week for new york
43:42that is the part that is incredibly disappointing to me
43:46it would have been great to be there with project runway
43:58next on project runway the model designer relationship is crucial
44:03well take a good look at her because she's your new client you need to work with your model to
44:07create the wedding dress of her dreams damn damn today's gonna be my bitch i have to just put my
44:14faith in her keep it under control because i do not want to go home she's just crazy
