00:00Previously on Project Runway Junior.
00:02Hello, designers.
00:04It's Michelle Obama.
00:07Unfortunately, this is a double elimination.
00:12Feels like she's wearing her mother's skirt.
00:14You've got to amp it up.
00:15I really don't want the judges to think that I'm just a one note.
00:18You make me like things that my personal sense of style wouldn't normally like.
00:23Katie, congratulations, you're the winner of this challenge.
00:26Oh my gosh, are you serious?
00:28It was holding, not fashion.
00:30You really need to step out of your all-black comfort zone.
00:33If you went to school wearing this, you'd be sent home.
00:36Jessie, Victoria, I'm sorry you're out.
00:51Oh, Lord.
00:53Oh, is it red carpet?
00:55Oh, we watched this.
00:57We saw this.
00:58This was a nice little thing.
01:01Oh my gosh, what is happening?
01:03Are we designing Peter Pan costumes?
01:05I mean, I have no clue.
01:07Hello, designers.
01:08For your next challenge, we want you to dream big and believe you can fly.
01:13Who here has seen the hit Broadway musical, Finding Neverland?
01:17Few of you?
01:18Then you will be super excited to meet our guest.
01:21Welcome one of the stars from the show, Laura Michelle Kelly.
01:25Hello, designers.
01:26Hello.
01:27I'm so happy to be here with you all.
01:29Well, Finding Neverland is all about believing in yourself, following your dreams, and aspiring to see them come true.
01:35Did you play the mother?
01:37Yeah.
01:38Well, we loved the scene when you died.
01:40It was very beautiful.
01:43You're welcome.
01:44Designers, this challenge is all about bright lights and big dreams.
01:51Red carpet dream.
01:53We want you to create an extra special evening wear look fit for a Broadway opening night.
02:00Oh, red carpet.
02:02I love to create these dramatic moments, and so I am so excited.
02:06The opening night of any Broadway play is a really special one.
02:09The paparazzi are there, the cameras are flashing, and it's time to dress to impress and stand out from the crowd.
02:15I'm a little nervous because I don't do red carpet a lot.
02:18I like designing for the everyday person, and so I'm hoping that I can pull this one off.
02:24Now we're going to send you up to meet Tim in the workroom, but before I send you off, there's one more thing.
02:29This is a team challenge.
02:31You'll be working in teams of two.
02:34I did enjoy the last team challenge, so I wouldn't mind another one.
02:38Petey, you have immunity, so you cannot be eliminated.
02:41You also have the last immunity.
02:44Oh!
02:46I am more stressed out because I don't want to be the one responsible for sending another person home.
02:52Okay, let's pick our team.
02:55Maya.
02:56Maya, you will be paired with...
02:59Petey.
03:00Yay!
03:01Maya, you can go sit by Petey.
03:03I am so happy that I get paired with Petey.
03:06I really like her design style.
03:09Bridget.
03:11Jackson.
03:12Okay.
03:13I'll go to her.
03:15This is going to be interesting.
03:17I'm definitely worried about working with Jackson.
03:20Although we get along well, we butt heads as designers.
03:23Zach.
03:24He will be paired with...
03:27Samantha.
03:28Hey, girl.
03:29I'm feeling really good when I get paired with Samantha.
03:33One, I don't have to get up.
03:35And two, I feel like she's a good designer.
03:37So I'm feeling very excited.
03:38Zachary and Matt, you'll be paired together.
03:41Matt and I have a very different aesthetic.
03:43I don't really know how that's going to combine.
03:45Our look might end up looking like the yin and yang.
03:47There are a couple other details you need to know about this challenge.
03:50Head up to the work room to meet Tim, and he'll fill you in.
03:54Good luck.
04:04Hi, Tim.
04:05Hi, Tim.
04:06So how do you feel about your teams?
04:07Good.
04:08Good.
04:09All right, well, I have more information for you.
04:11Each team of two will create one look.
04:15It's okay, Bridget.
04:18Only having to make one look is going to be a little bit harder
04:21since we actually kind of have to work more together.
04:25We are not going to Mood.
04:27Mini Mood is open and will remain open for the duration of this challenge.
04:32You need to harness the best of each of you and merge them together.
04:37You have five hours.
04:39Shut up.
04:41Well, that's fine.
04:43Five hours.
04:44Are you kidding me?
04:45Five hours.
04:46Five hours to do a complete head-to-toe red carpet look.
04:52I mean, that's insane.
04:53In the spirit of the magical world of Finding Neverland, we worked some Project Runway Junior
05:00magic as well.
05:01We're bringing in reinforcements.
05:04What's reinforcements?
05:05All right, we have Samantha from Season 11.
05:10Oh!
05:11These are old people.
05:12Yay!
05:13Oh, my God!
05:14Oh, my God!
05:15Oh, my God!
05:16Oh, my God!
05:17Oh, my God!
05:18Oh, my God!
05:19Hopefully we get her.
05:20I want her here.
05:21Boom, Tim.
05:22This is amazing.
05:23So, Samantha, you're with Team Zach and Samantha.
05:24Come open, Sister Gale!
05:25Samantha's on a team.
05:26Hey!
05:27Literally, I have, like, no emotion, so for me to tear up for, like, a second, that's
05:42how you know how much I love this right now.
05:44From Seasons 11 and 13, we have Amanda.
05:47Oh, my God!
05:50I want her.
05:52So, Amanda, you were with Team Zachary and Matt.
05:55Yes!
05:56Go!
05:57I am obsessed immediately.
05:59Amanda Valentine is so cool.
06:02Her design aesthetic is really similar, I think, to ours, so I think we'll be able
06:06to really pull this off and even come home with the win.
06:09And we have Fabio from Season 10.
06:12Oh, my God!
06:15Woohoo!
06:16I love Fabio so much, I sort of freaked out and did a happy dance.
06:20Fabio, you were with Team Maya and Katie.
06:23Yes!
06:24Hi, Katie!
06:26I'm Fabio.
06:27I'm Maya.
06:28Good!
06:29Alright, we're gonna do this.
06:30Yes!
06:32So excited.
06:33Totally fangirling.
06:37Hi.
06:38Also from Season 10, we have Sanji.
06:41I'm super glad I got Sanji.
06:42I feel like she's talent times a million.
06:43We have a very excited team waiting for you.
06:44Yes!
06:45Bridget and Jackson.
06:46Hey, hey, hey, hey!
06:47Sanji, yay!
06:48I'm so happy.
06:49Alumni, the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles is giving a full scholarship
06:56to the winner of this season of Project Runway Junior.
06:58How fabulous is that?
06:59That's awesome.
07:00All right, it is up to you as a team to decide how you're going to work together.
07:07They are not designing for you.
07:08So, your five hours begins right now.
07:10This is the most exciting day of my entire life.
07:13So, I was like, I was like, I'm so happy.
07:15I'm so happy.
07:16I'm so happy.
07:17Alumni, the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles is giving a full scholarship
07:21to the winner of this season of Project Runway Junior.
07:24How fabulous is that?
07:25That's awesome.
07:26All right, it is up to you as a team to decide how you're going to work together.
07:29So, I was thinking that everyone's typically going to just go ahead and do a gown.
07:33Because that's, you know, typical.
07:34So, I was thinking maybe a suit.
07:35And then we could bring in, like, pants.
07:37I'm very big on creating a look that stands out the most.
07:41You could do, like, a cape type of thing.
07:43Ooh, yes.
07:44We should definitely do that.
07:46So, Zach and I are making tailored fitted pants.
07:49And then to add some drama, we're going to add in a cape.
07:52What do you want me to do?
07:54Maybe you can start playing with the cape.
07:56And we can all come together at the end and be like, all right, we like that.
07:58Okay.
07:59Have you seen that silhouette where it's, like, the top goes like this, right?
08:03And then these are cutouts.
08:04Yeah!
08:05Right?
08:06I love that.
08:07Zachary and I come up with this really gorgeous red dress.
08:11And it's going to have cutouts right underneath kind of the bust line.
08:15I like that a lot.
08:16It's very sexy but very, you know, refined and not too slutty.
08:21I like color.
08:22I like the same color.
08:23Color's good.
08:24I like that neon green neoprene.
08:27That's my lovely color.
08:28No neoprene.
08:29I told him from the start.
08:30I really hope that Jackson and I can work well together.
08:33I'm so nervous that we're going to branch off and make two different things and then try to piece it all together.
08:41It won't work.
08:42Is that too much?
08:43There's no way in hell I'm going to work with white.
08:46I'm sorry.
08:47I'm stubborn.
08:48What are you guys thinking?
08:49I don't know.
08:50I really like this idea of something, like, sheer on the bottom with, like, a lot of drama and something like that.
08:56Like boy shorts.
08:57Yeah, like, boy shorts under it.
08:58Let's go look at the fabrics and see what they have.
09:00Yeah, let's check it out.
09:01Bring your sketch.
09:02We want to really stand out and so we're making a boy short bodysuit and we have a sheer organza skirt over it.
09:12But this could work for the top maybe.
09:14It could work for the top.
09:15That's what I was thinking.
09:16You could do the boy shorts out of this as well.
09:19You're not going to see it.
09:20I'm so excited.
09:21Look at you.
09:22What are you guys doing?
09:23Um, I swear.
09:25I wanted to think outside of the box.
09:28So I want to have a fitted one shoulder look and then this, like, flowy pink skirt that has a slit on the side.
09:35That looks kind of cool.
09:36I don't know if I like this green.
09:38I think I'm going to go with these reds.
09:40The red works.
09:41I kind of want to do the cape out of this.
09:43Out of that?
09:44I feel like that'll be too loud.
09:45But that could be the theme though.
09:47Make it loud.
09:49Keep in mind your theme is also, like, the Neverland.
09:52So, you know, that certain level of, like, going outside the box.
09:56Yeah, yeah.
09:58Seeing this print, I'm kind of freaking out.
10:00But then I keep thinking, the judge is saying, you know, don't be afraid to take risks.
10:03Have fun with this one.
10:04I'm like, okay, no, I love it.
10:08It's weird helping, right?
10:10My heart's not pounding.
10:12How do you feel about this?
10:14I like the color combo.
10:16Do you like the waistband?
10:18I don't know.
10:19I think we're kind of, you know, too boring.
10:21I agree with that.
10:23We're looking at the dress form and we're not liking anything.
10:27The color, the fit, we hate it all.
10:30We need more.
10:31Oh my gosh.
10:34Coming up on Project Runway Junior.
10:36You can tell I'm a little dubious.
10:38I'm just gonna say it.
10:39It's on the bottom.
10:40Are you crying?
10:41Don't cry.
10:42I was not expecting that for a red carpet look.
10:45This could be a showstopper.
10:46I think you guys were pretty ambitious.
10:48This is a gown that I have, quite frankly, never seen before.
11:03Finding Neverland is an amazing show.
11:05It definitely captures the story of writing Peter Pan
11:09and the struggles this man went through to do it.
11:12It was beautiful.
11:17The scenes that they created, the storyline was amazing.
11:20It was just all about, you know, dreaming big.
11:32I don't know.
11:33I think we're kind of, you know, too boring.
11:36I agree with that.
11:37We're looking at the dress form and we're not liking anything.
11:40Oh my gosh.
11:42I'm not looking forward to this critique whatsoever.
11:45Wait, I have an idea.
11:48Okay, what's up?
11:49What if we do a pencil skirt out of this?
11:52And then we have panels of this in the front and in the back.
11:55Mhm.
11:56I'm feeling just a little bit stressed because we completely kind of tear the skirt apart.
12:02We just want to drape a skirt real, real quick.
12:05Yeah.
12:06And knowing that we only have five hours, I'm like, we gotta work.
12:09How are the shorts coming?
12:11They're coming along.
12:12Something else that I thought was really pretty is just, like, how, like, that lays.
12:16Since this is a red carpet challenge, I want to make a huge impact.
12:21If we just, like, let it do what it wants to do, right, that's really pretty.
12:24And then it's, like, contrasting because we have a lot of harsh edges.
12:27I decided that I want some cool draping going on to contrast everything.
12:32I grabbed a chiffon kind of fabric.
12:35It's a hard fabric to work with, but if anybody can conquer them, it's us.
12:39Oh, chiffon.
12:40Tim's coming.
12:41My back against the wall.
12:42Just trying to make it happen.
12:43Hi, everyone.
12:44Design teams.
12:45Believe it or not, I'm here to check in with you.
12:46All right.
12:47How are the Samanthas and Zach?
12:48Hi.
12:49Good.
12:50Hi.
12:51Talk to me.
12:52So, basically, red carpet, we didn't want to do, you know, the typical red on red.
13:08So, basically, we decided to work with not only a print, something that you don't usually
13:13see on the red carpet, but then a really elegant blue.
13:16And we're also kind of bringing back the idea of that faux jumpsuit.
13:20Okay.
13:25You can tell I'm a little dubious.
13:27I don't exactly know what the word means, but, like, through context clues in his face,
13:32I'm thinking that he's kind of worried about our look.
13:35Do you think the midnight jumpsuit is going to have enough captivation?
13:42Or is it going to be all about the cape?
13:44I mean, think about the perception of the judges when the cape comes off.
13:49I don't want the judges compelled to say, well, it's just a jumpsuit.
13:54Right.
13:55You know?
13:56We could make the little neckline a little bit lower.
13:58I'm definitely thinking that, too.
13:59Yep.
14:00Yep.
14:01Just giving the details when it's off, it stands on its own as well.
14:04All right.
14:05Wow me.
14:06Yes.
14:07Okay.
14:09Thank you, Tim.
14:10You look like you're about to meet a firing squad.
14:12I am so nervous for Tim to see what we have.
14:17We're creating a garment that's kind of different than something that we would have created by ourselves.
14:21You have a lot done.
14:22We do.
14:23Yeah.
14:24So talk to me.
14:25You know, this is red carpet.
14:26And the most classic thing about a red carpet is the color.
14:29So we want to use a really strong and impactful color.
14:32How are you feeling about it?
14:33It's looking a little disconnected right now.
14:35How so?
14:36I think we're trying to tie in this harsh thread down here.
14:42So what we're thinking is bringing this red into the yolk here.
14:46Throw it up there for me?
14:49So you tailor it?
14:51Yeah, we would tailor it.
14:53What are your thoughts about that, Amanda?
14:55We might be okay without it.
14:57I agree.
14:58It doesn't want to be tailored.
14:59Yeah.
15:00And I wouldn't do that.
15:01Just keep your eye on this during the fitting.
15:03Amanda, I'm glad you're here.
15:05All right, carry on.
15:06Thank you so much.
15:08So how are you all?
15:09We're doing good.
15:10We're doing good.
15:11Good.
15:12Talk to me.
15:13So we wanted to keep it, you know, elegant.
15:16But then also we want our girl to be very unique and stand out.
15:21We're doing a long sleeve top.
15:23And it's going to be like a bodysuit and have like boy shorts underneath.
15:28And we have this big organza skirt to go with it.
15:33Silence is scary.
15:35No, no, no.
15:36It's this overlay.
15:37How is it going to be finished?
15:39As a separate skirt, we were thinking.
15:41You have this very opaque, rich textile on top.
15:47It feels very serious and visually it has a heft.
15:53You have the skirt that's like tissue.
15:58It just looks rather messy.
16:00Ugh.
16:01We might have to start the skirt over again.
16:04What if we went in with like a not as white of a fabric?
16:08After I leave you, look in mini mode.
16:11Okay.
16:12If I were in Maya and Petey's shoes, I would be freaking out.
16:15Do you guys want to look at fabrics and see what we have?
16:17Yeah.
16:18We shook it out.
16:19Hi.
16:20Hi.
16:21So what are you all doing?
16:22So we're doing this wonderful thing right here.
16:26Are you saying that with sarcasm?
16:28No, we just changed it at the last minute before you came.
16:31So it doesn't look the neatest and prettiest right now.
16:35So it's very edgy.
16:37And then it would have a mini skirt underneath with flits on both sides.
16:41So then when she walks, you can kind of see it.
16:44And then here's the back.
16:47Here's the reality.
16:50There will only be four looks on that runway.
16:53There's going to be a look on the bottom.
16:56I'm just going to say it.
16:58It's on the bottom.
16:59You haven't even designed it yet.
17:00It's on the bottom.
17:01You've got to do something about this palette.
17:03This peachy pink.
17:05It's so insipid and so flat.
17:10And I want you to be on the bottom.
17:11And that's certainly where this is right now.
17:14I just have to be blunt.
17:15Tim's critique is so negative.
17:18I mean, no one wants a critique as negative as that.
17:24Carry on.
17:25Design teams, we're at the halfway point.
17:28You have two and a half hours out of five remaining, okay?
17:31Your models will be in in 30 minutes.
17:33There are only four looks in this room.
17:35Two teams will be on top.
17:37And two teams will be on the bottom.
17:39And you don't want to be on the bottom.
17:41All right, work hard, everyone.
17:44All right, let's go.
17:46Bridget and Jackson might be in trouble with this one.
17:49I don't think that they have a chance of winning.
17:51I like this, but if you guys don't like this, then we can obviously go a different direction.
17:55I think that the green is good.
17:57We are not doing that.
17:59Do we still want to mix the colors or do we want to go with one color?
18:03We can't seem to pick a fabric and it's just so much pressure.
18:07I'm sick.
18:08I'm tired.
18:09I don't want to be here right now.
18:11You guys really, like 30 minutes is when the models come in.
18:14Yeah.
18:15And we have nothing for the model right now.
18:16Are you crying?
18:17Don't cry.
18:18Girl.
18:19Girl, this is like a make it work moment.
18:21I've had plenty of them.
18:22Don't cry.
18:23I promise it'll be okay.
18:24I will help you.
18:25I will make sure that this look is done.
18:27But we got to like really figure this out.
18:30Nothing's working.
18:31I hate all these fabrics.
18:33Coming up on Project Runway Junior.
18:35Gotta go, girl.
18:36We gotta go.
18:37If we're the team on the bottom, then I'm going home.
18:39I want to scream.
18:40I just don't like that.
18:41Everything's crooked.
18:47Are you crying?
18:52Don't cry.
18:53Girl.
18:54Girl.
18:55This is like a make it work moment.
18:56I hate all these fabrics.
18:57So then let's.
18:58Let's get one tone.
18:59We could have a cool like colored belt or something.
19:00Yeah.
19:01Like let's.
19:02Let's focus on that.
19:03Okay?
19:04Don't cry because you can't.
19:05It's not going to help you right now.
19:06Come on.
19:07We got it.
19:08Sanji saves me from having a total breakdown.
19:10We scrap that dress and we find some new awesome green fabric.
19:16There is no time for crying.
19:22Dang the skirt.
19:23If we're the team on the bottom, then I'm going home.
19:26Oh.
19:27No.
19:28Don't say that.
19:29I will not let that happen.
19:30It is definitely nerve wracking for me knowing that Petey has immunity.
19:33Because if we're the team on the bottom, then I'm automatically the one going home.
19:38I don't know.
19:39I'm just nervous.
19:40I'm always nervous.
19:41Hey.
19:42Hey.
19:43How are you?
19:44If you could go back there and start getting undressed.
19:47This is really pretty.
19:49So the bodice is basically done and the skirt overlay is done and it's all coming down to
19:58this fitting.
19:59It looks so good.
20:00It looks amazing.
20:01We did that.
20:02Yeah.
20:03And like in two and a half hours.
20:04Two and a half hours.
20:05Five hours at first seemed really scary.
20:06But now that we have all this stuff done, it feels really good and I'm feeling pretty confident.
20:16I definitely see what Tim's talking about.
20:21Is it bothering you?
20:22A little bit.
20:23I'm not happy with the way that everything is looking right now.
20:27I just don't like that.
20:29I don't know if it's like too much of all the same.
20:32You can use the reverse.
20:34We've been playing around with this fabric for a while.
20:37Oh yeah.
20:38The other side.
20:39Mm-hmm.
20:40I mean, I like it.
20:43We just have to do it real well.
20:45Hopefully this fits.
20:48We have a bodice and we have a skirt.
20:51I'm liking this new look so much more than the last one.
20:55Perfect.
20:56Thank God you're on our team.
21:01And then we just pop out from under.
21:03Like we made this.
21:05Bye Rachel.
21:06Bye.
21:07Gotta go.
21:08Gotta go girl.
21:09We gotta go.
21:10After starting over for like the third time, I'm so nervous about the runway.
21:14I'm worried that the dress won't be done.
21:24Alright design teams.
21:25The work day is over.
21:27So tomorrow we're doing the hem of that.
21:29And that's it.
21:30Oh my God, that's it.
21:31Hey.
21:32Get it poppin'.
21:33I really hope we have enough time to finish all this.
21:46I mean, I think it's gonna be really close.
21:48Good morning design teams.
21:52Hi Tim.
21:53In 30 minutes your models will come in.
21:56You will have 30 minutes with them.
21:58And then we're going to the runway, okay?
22:00Woo!
22:01Thank you Tim.
22:02This morning I'm super sick, but I'm just gonna try to ignore the sickness and really push
22:07to finish the dress.
22:09This won't be perfect, but at least it'll, I don't know, it looks perfect-ish.
22:14I think, yeah, I think this is the best option.
22:17Yeah.
22:18Paidi and I decided that we want to change this stiff fabric on the train into a very flowy,
22:24dramatic, black, silky fabric.
22:27We figured it out.
22:28We want it to flow.
22:29Hi and Paidi are totally redoing their skirt to their look.
22:32And it's crazy because we only have an hour to work.
22:35Yes, Janelle.
22:36Oh my God, if that breaks, I swear to God.
22:40I'm just waiting to try it on.
22:41Yay!
22:42Oh yay!
22:43All right, it's happening.
22:44Want to try it on?
22:45Yeah, let's do it.
22:46We're crossing our fingers that it all looks good and it all fits.
22:49Everything's crooked.
22:50Everything.
22:51Well, okay.
22:52So?
22:53I'm really confused right now.
22:54There's like little awkward pieces.
22:56Let's go.
22:57Let's go.
22:58Let's go.
22:59Let's go.
23:00Let's go.
23:01Let's go.
23:02Let's go.
23:03Awkward pieces.
23:04What's going on?
23:05Uh oh.
23:06Oh, okay.
23:09Yeah, she's just shorter waisted.
23:11And we didn't take that into account.
23:13Matt and Zachary's look is so tacky.
23:15That weird drapey thing in the front and the back, it's not attractive.
23:18It looks like a vampire gone wrong.
23:21Matt's brought down Zachary's design style.
23:24It's awkward.
23:25But you know what?
23:26We're owning it.
23:27Ah, I want to scream.
23:28Oh, this would be cool to hammer out.
23:31Totally.
23:32We're not forgetting anything, right?
23:38Is that place correctly?
23:39All right.
23:40All right.
23:41Goodbye.
23:44All right.
23:45Design duos.
23:47We're going down to the runway, everyone.
23:50Say goodbye to Amanda and Samantha and Sanji and Fabio.
23:55I'm getting goosebumps.
23:56Thanks for being a trooper.
23:58I think our chances of winning are pretty high.
24:00Looking around, I don't see any looks that are better than ours.
24:04You and your models and I are going down to the runway.
24:07I cannot believe how much work we did in five hours.
24:11I have no clue who is going to be going home.
24:14So champagne, is it coming?
24:16The winner of Project Runway Junior will receive a full scholarship to the prestigious FIDM in California, a complete home sewing and crafting studio provided by Brother, a feature in Seventeen Magazine, and a $25,000 cash prize to help launch their line.
24:37Hello, everyone.
24:43Hi.
24:44Hello.
24:45Welcome to the runway.
24:46You know how it works.
24:48In fashion, one day you're in and the next day you're out.
24:51This was a super fast challenge.
24:54You worked in pairs and had five hours to create a look worthy of a Broadway opening night.
24:59How was this challenge for you guys?
25:01Fun.
25:02It was fun.
25:03Ah.
25:04Pety, you won the last challenge, so you cannot be eliminated tonight.
25:09But there is no more immunity.
25:12Okay, let's say hello to our judges.
25:15First, we have fashion designer Christian Siriano.
25:18Hello.
25:19Ah.
25:20Fashion critic and fashion designer Kelly Osborn.
25:23Hi, designers.
25:24Hi.
25:25And fashion director for Seventeen and Cosmopolitan Magazine's Aya Kanai.
25:30Hello, everyone.
25:32We also have Tim Gunn here for the runway show.
25:35Now, Tim won't be judging your looks, but as you know, he has one Tim Gunn save.
25:41That means that if at some point in the competition he disagrees with us, he can bring that designer
25:46back.
25:47Okay, time for the show.
25:49Let's do this.
25:50My model looks amazing.
25:51She looks like she could fit right in on a Broadway premiere, so I think that we definitely nailed
26:06this challenge.
26:07I am in awe of our look.
26:08I think that it's definitely a showstopper.
26:09And on the red carpet, I think it would photograph well from every angle and the color is just so vibrant.
26:21And I just love it.
26:22I'm very glad that I was paired with Samantha.
26:31I think that out of all of the teams, we were the one who combined our design aesthetics perfectly.
26:39I love the print.
26:40I think it is really young and innovated and definitely I could see celebrities wearing this.
26:48I think we got this in the bag.
26:52I think it looks great.
26:57I'm looking at the judges' faces.
27:00I feel like they either love it or hate it from Aya's face.
27:04But I think that it's a beautiful look and I'm so happy with it.
27:07I believe we did that in five hours.
27:09If we all like pull that off.
27:11It looks so much better on the runway than in the workroom and I really love this movement
27:15of it and I can see a little bit more of Maya and I in this look.
27:22I feel super proud of my look coming down the runway and it just looks glamorous and gorgeous.
27:31It's surreal.
27:32She looks so good and from what we started out with to what we have now, I'm just amazed at what we did.
27:45Since there are only four looks, we'll be talking to all eight of you tonight.
27:49One of you will be the winner and unfortunately, one of you will be out.
27:57Coming up on Project Runway Junior, I was not expecting that for a red carpet look.
28:02I wrote down on my cart, the struggle is real.
28:04It feels old Hollywood, which is a bit strange.
28:07This to me looks like a tail.
28:09Okay, designers, one of you will be the winner and one of you will be out.
28:17Let's bring out your models.
28:22Maya, Petey, tell us a little bit about your look and who did what.
28:26We made this sort of romper bodysuit inspired piece out of this very velvety fabric.
28:33And then to add drama, we wanted to do like a train.
28:38To add a little bit more detail to it, we smashed out one of the arm cuffs and made it into a belt.
28:44I love that you did a jumper because I was not expecting that for a red carpet look.
28:48It's sexy, but you still have this elegant neckline.
28:54I really feel like Dominique is the leader of the girl squad.
28:59I can totally see Taylor Swift wearing this, Kendall Jenner wearing this.
29:03Like the girls that are, quite frankly, the leaders of the girl squad right now would want to wear this.
29:09I love your neckline. It keeps it very classy when you're showing that much leg.
29:14However, I do think that the shorts are a little short, but I know that runway versus real life are two different things.
29:22Love a mini.
29:24I think what's great is that you were really innovative here because you didn't have a lot to work with.
29:28So using the cuff, hammering it out, making it a belt, I think that's what this show is all about.
29:32If you don't have something, you have to kind of make it work, and I think you both did that here.
29:36And I feel like it feels like both of you.
29:40Matt, Zachary.
29:41So when we heard Broadway and red carpet, we immediately knew that we wanted to kind of put a little bit of edge into it because that's both of our styles.
29:49And we wanted to play with a lot of different shapes and movement.
29:52How did you work together?
29:53I don't play sports, obviously, but I heard of the dream team, and I think that we were the dream team.
30:00I have a love-hate relationship with this dress because there's something very modern about it.
30:05But it's not very flattering, especially where it drapes.
30:09And I think it's a little over-designed.
30:12I wrote down on my card, the struggle is real.
30:14Because I'm looking at Jennifer's neckline, and I'm sensing that the ambition wasn't met with what's possible to be done in the five hours that we had.
30:26From the back, this to me looks like a tail.
30:30If you just kept it as a pencil skirt and really worked on the proportions a little bit better, this could be a showstopper.
30:38You know, I think you guys were pretty ambitious.
30:41Like, maybe it should have been a short dress because maybe you would have been able to focus more on all of the details.
30:47I mean, it's cut out everywhere, so the cutouts need to be perfect, or you shouldn't have done a cutout dress.
30:51Maybe the bodice would have fit better if she didn't have cutouts on the side.
30:54Maybe it was all about the neck.
30:55That, I think, would have been a little more elegant.
30:57So I wasn't in love with this dress as I wanted to be.
31:00Thank you, Zachary. Thank you, Matt.
31:02Bridget, Jackson.
31:04Okay, so we were kind of inspired by this up-and-coming kind of girl who's her first, like, Broadway experience.
31:12And so we decided to kind of make it a little edgy, but also kind of, like, flowy and beautiful.
31:17And what did Sanji do?
31:19She just really helped us emotionally and with the dress.
31:23What do you mean emotionally? Did you guys have a little bit of a struggle there?
31:27After Tim's critique, we decided to completely scrap the first dress.
31:31And I just had a little meltdown and mini mood because I was worried about time.
31:37How did you two work together?
31:39We worked together well towards the end.
31:42But before, before, it was, we were kind of butting heads.
31:46Oh, yeah.
31:47Yeah, design-wise, because we're total opposites.
31:50I thought this was great.
31:52I love the detail on the side with the pleating and especially that slit.
31:58You had something to do with that, Jackson, right?
32:00Gotta have that slit.
32:01I know you love a slit.
32:02Sexy girl.
32:03Sexy girl.
32:04Gotta have that slit.
32:05I like kind of the pleating, the tucking, the twisting.
32:07Like, I like the kind of three-dimensional that it kind of gives.
32:10I don't necessarily love the slit.
32:12I think the silhouette is really beautiful and I like the idea that it was more of a column.
32:16I don't really think you need it, but I think she looks put together, elegant and beautiful.
32:21I really enjoy how, from this side, there's a whole lot of negative space.
32:26We have the leg, we have the collarbone, and then turn to the other side.
32:31From this side, it's quite covered up.
32:34I just think it's interesting, and I think that this is a gown that I have, quite frankly,
32:40never seen before.
32:41I love, love, love your fabric choice.
32:44And I'm looking at it and I'm like, what does it remind me of?
32:47I'm like, okay, New York, Statue of Liberty, meet Christian goddess.
32:50There's so much about this that I love because I don't understand it.
32:53That's true.
32:55For us to all sit here and say, we've never seen something like this is a big deal.
33:01Samantha, Zach.
33:02When you think about red carpet, the first thing you think of is, oh, let's put on a really pretty gown.
33:06And there's nothing wrong with that, but you know me, I'm all about mixing men's wear with women's wear,
33:10so I said, guys, let's do a pant.
33:13And then we wanted to incorporate Zach's aesthetic into it by doing this really nice flowy cape.
33:18You want to see what it looks like without the cape on?
33:20Yeah.
33:21So the pant and the top are separate.
33:25The cape, I wrote down as modern medieval magic because I just, I love the text out of the print.
33:32I love that you backed the inside of the cape with, it's a slightly different color blue, isn't it,
33:37than the pants on the top.
33:38I love that you chose a pantsuit and I do love how you gave us that wow moment with the cape.
33:45I loved the shoulder detail.
33:47I think that made it very dramatic and red carpet.
33:50I like that it's, you know, black and white in the print, but then I love that the top and pant is navy.
33:54I think it's very chic.
33:56It feels old Hollywood as well, which is a bit strange because nothing about the fabrics are old Hollywood,
34:01but it gives me that feel.
34:03I like this modern red carpet girl.
34:06This is a really tough challenge today because every look has innovation.
34:13Okay, we've enjoyed talking to you.
34:15You can leave the runway.
34:23Hi.
34:24Hello.
34:25Hi.
34:26We're a small little group this time.
34:28We have Jen, we're in team Zachary and Matt.
34:31Ugh.
34:32There's just something about Zachary's designer setting I do not see here.
34:38Yeah.
34:39He kind of gave up a little bit in this one.
34:41The back's not good.
34:42Yeah.
34:43It's just where it's all connecting and it's not even symmetrical.
34:45Yeah, where it's gathering.
34:46Zachary, for the very first time, didn't show something to his standards.
34:51I am not into this at all.
34:53I think that they added that fabric because they felt like it was a red carpet challenge.
34:58We need to do a gown.
34:59Yeah.
35:00This I have to touch just to understand.
35:04I know, me too.
35:05What is going on?
35:06This is leotard material, no?
35:08Yeah.
35:09It's like crackle leotard.
35:10Yeah.
35:11To see how heavy the fabric looks versus how it actually feels and what they were able
35:17to do with it is...
35:18Yeah, and that's why you get that movement too.
35:19Yeah.
35:20Which is nice.
35:21It's cool, but nobody's really wearing this pleather SeaWorld onesie thing.
35:26It is a little bit out there, but is it an interesting dress to look at?
35:35Absolutely.
35:36I have to get up and see this.
35:40It's fully lined.
35:41Yeah.
35:42It's a lot of work.
35:43The fact that Zach took on a floor-length cape, you know, does demonstrate that he can do something
35:49different.
35:50Now that I'm seeing it up close, the shoulders look Robin Hood-y to me.
35:54This could have gone really wrong with the fabric that they chose.
35:56Oh.
35:57I'll say.
35:58It's really quite fabulous for that.
36:04Look how fabulous this is.
36:05I mean, it's amazing.
36:06This look has so much personality to it.
36:09You know, if you saw her just at an event, it looks like a really gorgeous, elegant gown.
36:13That's what's kind of great about it.
36:15And then she turns and you're like, oh, let's have a party.
36:18Where I can see Maya is in the tailoring.
36:20For sure.
36:21And where I can see Paisy's work is in the design of the shorts.
36:24The whimsy.
36:25The whimsy of it.
36:26What's amazing about all these looks when you think about a red carpet challenge is that there is not one boring dress here.
36:35Okay, so who goes home?
36:37Is it Matt or Zachary?
36:38What annoys me about Zachary is he's so talented and he let this walk down the runway.
36:43Yeah.
36:44I think that is a little bit of a problem.
36:45This is not Zachary's level of work and we know that.
36:49Today, I feel like he got lost.
36:51But Matt, he's been in the bottom.
36:53We've given him a second chance.
36:54Like, we let him stay here and he still put this, but why didn't Zachary, like, give his opinion?
37:00Okay, so do we all agree?
37:03Okay, let's bring them back.
37:08Designers, the eight of you have the highest and lowest scores.
37:13One of you will be the winner.
37:15And unfortunately, one of you will be out.
37:30Katie, Maya, you are both the winners of this challenge.
37:43Yay!
37:47We absolutely loved your look.
37:51I'm so happy.
37:53You're both in, you can leave the runway.
37:55Thank you guys so much.
37:57Jessica.
38:00I'm so happy to know that both Petey and I won this challenge because we both put so much work into this.
38:06Woo!
38:08It feels really amazing knowing that I'm the only designer who's won two challenges.
38:13I'm so happy that I can get three.
38:15We did it!
38:20Samantha and Zach, you are a close second.
38:23Great job.
38:24You're both in, you can leave the runway.
38:28We did it!
38:33Bridget, Jackson, you're both in, you can leave the runway.
38:38Thank you so much.
38:40You rock.
38:41Thanks.
38:42Good luck, guys.
38:45Zachary, Matt, one of you will unfortunately be out.
38:51Zachary, we are used to seeing impeccable construction from you.
38:58Your dress was poorly executed and the look was a bit tortured.
39:03Matt, you have ambitious ideas, but you've been struggling to bring them to life on the runway.
39:09There was a lot of over-designing, which we've seen from you before.
39:12Matt, I'm sorry you're out.
39:16Zachary, you're in.
39:17You can leave the runway.
39:19Bye.
39:20Good luck.
39:22Thank you guys so much for this opportunity and, oh, no, no, not today.
39:26I'm...
39:27No, don't.
39:28I'm really...
39:29Seriously, because you're going to make us lose it.
39:30It's the hardest thing.
39:31Oh, sorry.
39:32I'm sorry.
39:33I'm sorry.
39:34I'm sorry.
39:35I'm sorry.
39:36I'm sorry.
39:37I'm sorry.
39:38I'm sorry.
39:39You're out.
39:40I'm sorry.
39:41I'm sorry.
39:42You're out.
39:43Congratulations.
39:44Thank you so much for this opportunity and, oh, no, no, not today.
39:49No, no, not today.
39:50I'm...
39:51No, don't.
39:52I'm really...
39:53Seriously, because you're going to make us lose it.
39:54Oh, I'm sorry.
39:55It's the hardest thing in the world.
39:56I really appreciate all of your guys' critiques and I hope I didn't let you down.
40:01No way.
40:02Matt, I am your biggest fan.
40:06I fought for you to stay a few challenges ago.
40:08Mm-hmm.
40:09And I believe you're extremely talented.
40:12Thank you so much.
40:13Okay, let me give you...
40:15Don't want to cry on your dress.
40:16It's so gorgeous.
40:17No, it's fine.
40:18It's fine.
40:19I'll never forget it, for real.
40:21Thank you, Matt.
40:22Thank you guys all so much.
40:24This competition has been so much tougher than I thought it would be.
40:27It looks so much easier on TV, trust me.
40:30You know, it was brutal at times, but still an experience that I'll never forget.
40:35Surprise, guys!
40:36I won the whole competition!
40:38Yes!
40:39Yes!
40:40I'm going to miss all of you guys so much.
40:42I've made really good friends here and I really don't want to leave them, you know?
40:47It's taken me years to develop the same connections with my friends back at home that I've made here.
