00:00Previously on Project Runway Junior,
00:02here to create a high-end look suitable to walk the runway
00:05at Milan Fashion Week.
00:07The winner of this challenge will receive a trip to Italy.
00:10Oh, shut up!
00:12Are you serious?
00:14Well, it looks like we have a pocket potpourri.
00:16What's a pocket potpourri?
00:18I just question whether it's enough.
00:20Oh my god.
00:21Oh my god.
00:22Tyler!
00:23I just taped it right here.
00:24You can't.
00:25It's not what I envisioned.
00:28What a great show, guys.
00:30The print is amazing.
00:31This is a slam dunk.
00:33Chelsea, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:36I'm going to Italy.
00:38To me, it just falls flat.
00:40Feels like you kind of took a few steps back.
00:42Cartier, I'm sorry you're out.
00:58What do you think about the amazing transformation of the runway?
01:08It's cool.
01:09This is like what I use as inspiration all the time back home.
01:13And you all know our very special guest, Seventeen Magazines, Aya Kanai.
01:17Yes, girl, get it.
01:19One of the things that I love most about New York is the freedom with which artists can
01:25express themselves.
01:26And since this is your final challenge, you will have just one more chance to express
01:30yourselves and your point of view to the judges before we decide who goes to the finale.
01:35So, the street art movement has been adopted by designers who have created collaborations,
01:41bringing the runway to the street and vice versa.
01:44The murals here have been created by street artists who have displayed their work all over
01:49New York City and in Brooklyn, too.
01:51So, designers, your challenge today is to create a high fashion, editorial look that will stand
01:58out among this incredible sea of color.
02:02Just like this art, an editorial look should be completely over the top and forward thinking.
02:08You'll each be assigned one of these bold, vibrant murals to use as your inspiration for your look.
02:14Oh God, like color is not really my thing.
02:17When your looks are completed, your models will be photographed in front of your mural.
02:21That interplay between your artwork and the look that you create, that must be there in the image.
02:27So, you know how we're going to do this random assignment.
02:30Button bag!
02:32Button bag!
02:34Passion fruit will be assigned to Tyler.
02:38What the?
02:40New York City neon is assigned to Chelsea.
02:44I got this.
02:45Iridescent hue is assigned to Izzy.
02:48I get iridescent hue and I really like it.
02:52It's kind of like the same stuff that I normally do in my designs.
02:55Seventeen, make it work, is assigned to Hawa.
02:58Yes.
02:59Wild style paradise is assigned to Molly.
03:03Cool.
03:04Chris, that means you are magic love.
03:07Woo!
03:09I get assigned magic love, which could not be better because it's literally just a painting of someone's face.
03:14I would not like this girl if I knew her in person.
03:16She seems terrible, but why not take her as inspiration?
03:19All right, designers, now that you all have your assigned murals, we have one last surprise for you.
03:25Good job.
03:27So the winner of this challenge will have their look appear in a feature in Seventeen magazine.
03:35The prize for this could not be bigger.
03:36Like, who cares that Chelsea's going to Italy?
03:38Like, you can pay for Italy.
03:39You cannot pay for a spot in Seventeen magazine.
03:41So this is like mage.
03:43This will determine who moves forward to the finale.
03:46And we are only sending four designers to the finale.
03:49So that means two of you will be eliminated.
03:55All right, good luck, and we'll see you here back on the runway.
03:57Bye.
03:58Bye.
04:00The stakes are so high right now.
04:02Like, you can't be the worst, and you can't be, you know, the second worst.
04:06You have to be the best.
04:08You will have 30 minutes to sketch at your assigned mural.
04:11But before you sketch, I have bad news.
04:15Mood is closed.
04:19Do you want to know what the good news is?
04:22I have the keys to move.
04:25After you choose your fabric, you're going to be cutting it.
04:28And guess what?
04:29I'm going to be checking you out.
04:31Okay.
04:32You will each have a budget of $350 for the shopping.
04:35And you have one day for this challenge.
04:38Your 30 minutes to sketch begins right now.
04:42Have fun.
04:46I'm just, like, drawing, like, inspiration from everything.
04:48Like, I'm looking at it closely, and I come up, like, with this idea of white velvet,
04:52men's shirt, like, inspired top, and then making a culotte.
04:56And it's all, like, white velvet, but it's going to have accents of, like, baby blue and baby pink.
05:00I've done major things to get to where I am today.
05:02I mean, I was in multiple regional magazines.
05:05So, like, I know what the models are going to look like in front of the murals.
05:07And I think it's going to look really, really sick.
05:11My mural is somewhat inspiring me.
05:13Like, not the actual focus of the mural, but actually the background.
05:17Because it looks like a galaxy to me.
05:19And New York is where you make stars.
05:21I'm sketching this shift dress, but I'm putting my own twist on it by making this really cool textile.
05:27And then I want to do this really nice detailing with these, like, stars.
05:31Because I want to leave as a star, but you never know.
05:33A lot of the stuff I've designed so far, you know, definitely has that, like, bohemian vibe,
05:40which I think living in Colorado has influenced my designs.
05:43But I still definitely have an edgy aesthetic, so I'm definitely bringing out that edgy vibe.
05:48I start sketching out some type of, like, romper.
05:51I want to do some type of skirt overlay on top of that.
05:54And then I think of, you know, this, like, giant cape idea to really have that wow factor.
06:00All right, designers, sketching time is up.
06:03Let's head off to Mood.
06:05Yay.
06:15I like it back there.
06:17Tim's the mayor of Mood now.
06:18He got the keys to the city.
06:19Oh, wait, there's really no one here?
06:22Super weird, because I need help.
06:26Why?
06:27Ah!
06:28I want to do a look that I think the girl in the mural would wear.
06:32So my model is essentially going to be the girl in the painting.
06:35I'm going to do a really big, like, sweatshirt-inspired jacket.
06:38And it's going to be very street-inspired.
06:40A gaucho pant and, like, just a really cool tank top.
06:42Everything's going to be a print.
06:44Is the air conditioning not on?
06:45Because Mood's closed.
06:46It's, like, 100 degrees in here.
06:48I find this really cool rock kind of fabric.
06:50I'm like, oh, cool, because there was, like, crystals on my mural.
06:55Do I just do this myself?
06:56How do I get this down?
06:59Help, please.
07:01I'm making a multiple-piece dress, and I want it to basically resemble the graffiti
07:08words and how they're, like, jagged and boxy.
07:12I'm trying to find something very, very colorful, and that's eye-catching.
07:15I find this fabric that's kind of tribal-looking.
07:19I like working with bright colors.
07:21Designers, you have 15 minutes remaining.
07:27I like this contraption.
07:30Oh, I'm so sorry.
07:32The thing that inspired me most was these vivid, like, white lines, these tie-dye colors,
07:37and they, like, blend into each other, and I think that I'm going to do a really big skirt
07:42that's, like, super full and has a lot of movement.
07:44It's going to be cool, I think.
07:46You're my first customer.
07:48Yay!
07:49I broke the scanner.
07:51Really, it's...
07:52Oh, now that one works.
07:53You're doing great, Mr. Tim.
07:54I'm proud of you.
07:54I'm a nervous wreck.
07:56Moon's never going to let me back in again.
07:58Designers, time is up.
08:00Everyone needs to be in the check-out counter.
08:03This is the worst service I've ever done.
08:05Chris, I'm working as hard as I can.
08:08Tim looks at home behind the register.
08:09I think he might get a job at, like, a grocery store after this.
08:13All right, designers, let's head back to the workroom.
08:22More desks!
08:23Oh, these are mine.
08:24No, get off!
08:26Designers, that trip to Mood was exhausting.
08:28Yes.
08:29That's great.
08:30You have until the end of the day for this challenge.
08:33I will be back later to check in with each of you,
08:36and you will have a model fitting after that.
08:38And I know you'll take advantage of the brothers selling an embroidery studio for this challenge.
08:44All right, everyone.
08:45Work hard, okay?
08:46Thanks, Tim.
08:51The stakes are super high in this challenge,
08:53and there's going to be a double illumination,
08:55and if you win, then you're guaranteed to go to the finale.
08:58And so I'm trying to work as hard as I can to win this challenge.
09:02Wow, this is bright.
09:04I'm kind of getting, like, nausea from the colors,
09:06because I realize that, like, I don't work with those colors a lot.
09:10I kind of regret not getting more blue, though.
09:12But I'm planning on making this, like, textile with the fabric.
09:18I'm going to cut out these rectangle squares,
09:20sew them together, and hope that they look good.
09:23Oh, my God.
09:30Is this the right order of gradients, or should these two be flipped?
09:33If you want it to go that way, it can.
09:34It goes that way?
09:36That looks coming along pretty good.
09:38I had the base of the garment for the romper done,
09:41and I'm just excited, you know, getting started on the other elements,
09:43because I still have so much to do.
09:49Molly, what are you banging?
09:50Grommets.
09:53Hey, Molly.
09:54Yeah?
09:55You want a star?
10:00I hope Molly's on the bottom just because these stupid grommets.
10:07Chelsea, are you good?
10:08No, I just kind of regret just getting leather, but...
10:11Do you not like this?
10:12But you just did?
10:12No, it's taking me way too long.
10:15A couple hours into the day, and I think I'm screwed.
10:20Then get to work, because it looks really good.
10:22You think so?
10:23Yeah.
10:24Chelsea is struggling.
10:25She's only been sewing for two years, and that's really impressive,
10:27but I think she's obviously the youngest and the least experienced.
10:31Oh, I didn't realize how much work there was to take.
10:35So, yeah, I'm restarting.
10:36You're restarting?
10:37Yeah.
10:38Why?
10:39I would never start over.
10:40I would stay with the look that I had.
10:42You could be very much in trouble.
10:45I have to rethink what I'm doing, the entire design, and I've just wasted about two hours.
10:54Coming up.
10:54This is the time to throw it all in.
10:56Yeah.
10:57I don't want that to be your downfall.
10:59It's too planned.
11:01You just killed it with this.
11:03These are the clothes that we would definitely use in 17.
11:06It looks really cool in the photos.
11:08I'm just looking at so many fit issues.
11:10The fact that we have to let go two people, it is quite literally breaking my heart.
11:14You're not restarting, are you?
11:24Um, I'm changing it.
11:26I'm not going home on this challenge.
11:28So I'm going to start cutting out like stars and just doing the kind of the same idea that
11:32I've originally had, but changing it a bit.
11:34I'm just like afraid I won't have time to actually do it.
11:37It's do or die.
11:39And really, nobody wants to be that person who leaves right before the finale.
11:44This challenge today is to make something that goes with your work of art.
11:55That's like high fashion editorial.
11:57And this challenge could not be crazier.
11:59Look at what those tiny hands did.
12:01She's making couture this week.
12:06Hi, everyone.
12:07I'm eager to check in with you, all right?
12:09Yay.
12:10How are you?
12:12Talk to me.
12:13So, I wanted to do this like odd shaped, like sharp edges.
12:18Because if you look at the picture that I have, the words are very big and bulky.
12:22Right, it's graffiti.
12:23What's happening with this tool?
12:25Um, well, there's like an undershirt and then the tool like hangs out.
12:28I thought it would look cool.
12:29I like it too.
12:30Oh, good.
12:31I'm just wondering if you want to use it elsewhere.
12:35I mean, this is the last challenge.
12:37Yeah.
12:37This is the time to throw it all in.
12:39Yeah.
12:40Only four of you are going to move forward and make a collection.
12:42Mm-hmm.
12:44Carry on, Hawa.
12:45Carry on, carry on.
12:46Thank you, Tim.
12:48Hi, Tim.
12:48Chelsea.
12:50I'll say this.
12:52It makes me smile.
12:53Yeah?
12:54Yeah.
12:54Okay, great.
12:55What's it like in the back?
12:56It's like this.
12:58Oh, good heavens.
12:59It's just such a different feeling back than it is up front.
13:03I miss the stars.
13:04Oh, you miss the stars.
13:06At this point, throw them all in.
13:08Yay.
13:08All right, carry on.
13:09Thank you, Tim.
13:10I am so happy because this is my most out of my own comfort zone thing that I've done the entire
13:16season and it's actually the best critique with Tim I've ever gotten.
13:20So I got this mural and I was really glad to get that because it was just someone's face and
13:24not like a print.
13:25And so I thought I would do just like a matching simple tank and short with this because this is so loud.
13:30And what's the top like underneath?
13:33It's a tank, just like simple.
13:35Look at your sewing.
13:36I know.
13:36I'm going to fix that.
13:37I don't want that to be your downfall.
13:40So this is my mural I got.
13:42I really liked how the back, the colors kind of like blended together, like sort of tie-dye looking.
13:46So I made a ombre skirt and a long train.
13:51I thought it'd be really dramatic.
13:52And then in the back, I'm just using a lot of like sharp white lines, like another arrow right here.
13:56And then I'm just going to put some triangles, like maybe another one right here.
13:59I guess I'm just not understanding why you treat one side of the panel so completely
14:04differently from the other when there's so much symmetry happening in the front.
14:07I don't know.
14:09I just think it would be surprising.
14:10Like they wouldn't think that.
14:11Yeah, but it's surprising good or surprising why did you bother?
14:16Okay.
14:17I'm a little bit worried for Izzy because this challenge determines if we're going to go to the
14:22finale.
14:22And then it's a double elimination.
14:24I hope she does figure out what to do.
14:27I made this romper and then this grommet detailing, which is going on the ends.
14:31I couldn't help but remark to myself that you were the only designer with a palette that didn't
14:38include a lot of vibrant graffiti-like color.
14:40Like these colors are not something I would do as a designer.
14:43No.
14:43So I didn't want to like go and like change who I am.
14:45Molly's look is not very colorful, which Seventeen is all about like colorful, but
14:50Molly's not very colorful, so I guess she just went, you know, I won't do that.
14:54Okay.
14:54Keep the rough and ready.
14:55Okay.
14:56All right.
14:56Thank you, Tim.
14:57I definitely understand Tim's opinions, but I'm just going to be confident in what I'm
15:00making and just keep sticking to my gut instinct and doing what I like.
15:05Tyler.
15:05Mr. Tim.
15:06We have a white velvet top with a collar and a white velvet culotte.
15:11Yes.
15:15How do you feel about it?
15:17I really like it.
15:18I'm just concerned that it's too bland.
15:25Okay.
15:26Tyler's critiques usually go super well, but this is different actually because
15:31Tim basically just says he doesn't think it really measures up.
15:34Thank you, Tyler.
15:35Thank you, Mr. Tim.
15:36I guess I am kind of surprised with Mr. Tim's critique because like,
15:40I was so confident about this look.
15:41I kind of feel kind of lost.
15:43All right, designers, your models will be in in about 30 minutes.
15:47All right, I'll see you tomorrow.
15:49Thank you, Tim.
15:50Thanks, Tim.
15:51Are you going to stick with your design?
15:52I like, I really, I really want to.
15:55Then do it.
16:00Tim says that I'm over designing the top.
16:03I like finally see it.
16:05So I'll completely like just rip out the white panels and then just place in completely blank ones.
16:10And I think it is going to make my look a lot cleaner.
16:14After Tim's critique, I don't plan on changing a lot of things with my design,
16:18but I'm going to put the tool on the bottom of the skirt.
16:20I think that I really have to prove to the judges that I belong here because I have been at the bottom so many times.
16:26The cultures that I'm really inspired by are Indian cultures.
16:29Like that's probably why I have like all these piercings in my face.
16:32And I feel like the judges sometimes just don't understand where I'm coming from with my designs.
16:36I just really want to figure this out because I do not want to go home.
16:44Okay, I'm not that tall.
16:46I think we're going to like maybe take like a foot off just to make it like a more modern length.
16:52I decided to shorten the cape and it made it, you know,
16:55more street wear and innovative and just more editorial.
16:59Oh, I like that.
17:00Yeah, do that smart and be like, no.
17:02Do you love your color blocking?
17:04Yes, I'm going back with it.
17:06Oh, that's so cool.
17:08We could win.
17:10The winner gets to be in Seventeen Magazine.
17:12So hopefully we win and you can be in Seventeen Magazine.
17:15Let's get it.
17:16I read Seventeen Magazine at home and just to like be in it and be like,
17:20oh, I'm famous.
17:20I'm so cool.
17:21I'm in a magazine.
17:22That would be like really fun.
17:24I got it so loose.
17:25Getting a whole side boob.
17:27Oh my God.
17:27I'm like, this is not Seventeen Magazine friendly.
17:30Something like that, except flatter.
17:32Let me fix these pockets.
17:34So G comes in and I'm trying to put on the pants and like, they're really tight.
17:38I don't know, like what happened?
17:40I was like, oh, let's take these off.
17:44I don't know what's happened with Tyler.
17:46Like last week he had a fit issue and this week it's happening too.
17:49Did everything fit okay, Tyler?
17:50The shirt was great.
17:51The pants were too small, so I'm adding a insert in the hips.
17:54Okay, good.
17:55Okay, G, tomorrow you're going to have a finished poppin' look, okay?
17:58Thank you for your help.
17:59Of course.
18:00Bye.
18:01To go home on like, a look that I know how to do, it would be awful.
18:05Because I'm better than this.
18:07They're like super tight.
18:13Coming up.
18:14How much side boob is tasteful?
18:16What are you doing?
18:17Is it too tight?
18:18Sweat stripping, it is all going downhill.
18:20How much side boob is tasteful for Seventeen Magazine?
18:32None.
18:32That's what I thought.
18:35The outcome of this challenge is like major.
18:37Like you either win and get to be in Seventeen Mag, or you could go home and eat like ice cream
18:42and cry how bad all your other friends are making clothes.
18:44That looks similar.
18:45Let me see.
18:47It's good, I'm going to fix it.
18:49I'm going to fix it.
18:50I take the pants apart, add like an insert into like the hips and like the thighs and everything,
18:59and then like I just continue like what I was doing.
19:02How's it coming?
19:03Trying to get done.
19:04Oh, we got to go guys.
19:06Poop, jiggly puff.
19:08All right, let's go.
19:09It's going to be a hard runway tomorrow.
19:12Four people are going to the finale and two people are leaving.
19:15Still have like a lot of little things to finish,
19:17but I really love how everything's finally coming together.
19:27This lip's color is called three exclamation points.
19:31For the green liner, we're going to use a little bit of the fancy flutter.
19:34We're going to use a little bit of the butter London gold mascara.
19:39It's really beautiful.
19:42Last time!
19:47This is the final challenge, so I think everyone should be worried,
19:50because like only four people are moving on.
19:54My plan of attack is to finish the hem, add snaps, and to press, press, press.
20:01I've made it all the way to the last challenge,
20:05and to not make it to the finale after getting this far would like be the worst.
20:11Good morning, designers.
20:12Hi, Tim.
20:13It's a big day.
20:15Using your direction, your models have been to the Butter London Beauty Studio for their makeup,
20:21and to our hair studio for touch-ups using Sally Beauty product.
20:26Your models will be here for 30 minutes, and that time will be used to prep them for the photo shoot and the runway.
20:32All right, everyone. Work hard. Thank you.
20:34Bye. Thank you.
20:37I'm really scared to do this until my model gets here, but I really think I should do it.
20:40Do what?
20:41Sew on the sleeves and the straps.
20:44Why Izzy decided to figure out how she was going to put the skirt on the model the day of the runway?
20:50I'm like, what are you doing?
20:52Clearly, I know how to do it myself as I measure my arm.
20:55I'm so nervous. We only have an hour left to work, and I still have to sew on all of my straps
21:00and my sleeves to the top and make sure everything looks good.
21:08This is the little thing I did to the tank top to cover your boobs. Let's see how that looks.
21:11I feel like with the red lips, it might look a little too, like, too much circuit.
21:17I'm hoping these pants fit, because I added like an inch on each side.
21:21It seems like they're going up just a little bit better than before, and then...
21:25They don't fit, so I'm like, girl, what is happening?
21:30Here, all right, take it off.
21:31Like, the inch insert that I put in isn't working.
21:34Oh, like, it's not fitting?
21:35Tyler just made a design where he had a lot of fit issues with the top and, like, a lot of cleavage showing.
21:41Judges are probably going to be not as lenient towards it this time.
21:47You know, like, when you get really nervous, like, you feel like you want to throw up?
21:50I'm feeling that. Like, sweat stripping, it is all going downhill.
21:53I'll be back.
22:00Is it too tight?
22:01No, let's take it off.
22:02Oh, good. It's the right length.
22:05This is like the most pressure I've ever felt with anything.
22:07Like, if I mess up, I get, you know, eliminated along with one other person,
22:11don't get to show a collection.
22:13Fun.
22:14I think my look is ready for a spread in Seventeen Magazine.
22:24I think it has that editorial, fashion-forward, you know, young vibe.
22:28Is anything, like, poking me right now?
22:30Okay, good.
22:31I'm really rushing through this right now.
22:34I just still have to finish sewing in my model on these straps, but I like my design a lot.
22:38All right, in 10 minutes, we're headed down to the runway for the photo shoot and the show.
22:45Going to buy some groceries at the local mart, maybe fight someone if they get in your way.
22:50I'm just, like, really scared because I need to make it to the finale.
22:55They're tight, aren't they?
22:58Gee, does that have to say anything?
23:00She tells me through her actions that,
23:02Tyler, this is riding up.
23:03We need to fix this.
23:04Turn around.
23:05I cut off, like, the really big part of the pocket just to give some more, like, a wiggle room.
23:10And you can still see, like, the pink, so, like, it looks like she has a pocket, but, like, it's not there.
23:16I think this is as good as it's gonna get, honestly.
23:19I think it's a definite problem.
23:21She looks like she's getting, like, a pelvic exam.
23:23It's so tight, like, I see her bones.
23:25Designers and models, let's head down to the runway.
23:28All right, last runway.
23:31Coming.
23:32Okay, let's do this.
23:34I'm very worried what the judges are gonna think because last week wasn't my best piece of work,
23:38and this week is definitely not my best piece of work.
23:40I'm pretty sure, like, I'm going home.
23:47Hello, everybody.
23:48Hi.
23:48Hi.
23:49Welcome back to the runway.
23:51You know how Project Runway Junior works, right?
23:54One day you're in, and the next day you're out.
23:58Tonight, we will decide who moves forward to compete in the Project Runway Junior finale.
24:03There are six of you here, but only four of you will be moving forward.
24:09For this challenge, you are to create a high-fashion editorial look inspired by your vibrant backdrop.
24:15The payoff for this challenge is huge.
24:18The winner of this challenge will appear along with their look in a feature for Seventeen Magazine.
24:23You had one day and $350 to create your looks.
24:27Let's say hello to our amazing judges.
24:29First, we have CFDA designer, Christian Siriano.
24:33Hey, guys.
24:33Fashion critic, author, and designer herself, Kelly Osborne.
24:37Hi.
24:38Hi.
24:39And fashion director for Cosmopolitan and Seventeen Magazines, Aya Kanai.
24:44Hi, guys.
24:45Also, we have Tim Gunn here for the runway show.
24:49He is your mentor, and he will not be judging your looks.
24:52All right.
24:52It's time for the show.
24:59Wow.
25:00Oh, my gosh.
25:02I think my look at being Seventeen Magazine is really cool, super editorial.
25:05The train really makes it a whole look.
25:07It has a lot of really bright colors and layers and has a lot of movement, which is exactly what I wanted.
25:16I think they like it.
25:16I hope so.
25:18I'm so proud of my look.
25:19It's me.
25:20It's my aesthetic.
25:21I really like the colors and the color blocking.
25:24And I'm so happy I listened to Tim about adding the tulle at the bottom of the skirt.
25:28My look really is editorial, and I hope the judges like it.
25:38Classic Molly.
25:40Watching my look come down the runway, I think the cape looks really amazing.
25:43It definitely adds that, like, wow factor.
25:48Oh, look at that.
25:49Is that a romper?
25:50I made something work with an inspiration that I usually wouldn't use, and I did it in a unique way.
25:59Wow.
26:01When I see my look come down the runway, I'm in love.
26:04I think you can definitely see my inspiration with the mural.
26:06I think it looks so cool.
26:07It's very street.
26:08It's very me.
26:12It shows that a collection for me would be very cool and interesting.
26:15So I see my look come down the runway, and I'm like, okay, it looks as bad as I thought it was going to be.
26:24In the back of my mind, I'm already, like, accepting, like, the defeat.
26:28Like, I'm happy with the idea that I have.
26:29I'm just unhappy with the execution.
26:30What fabric is wrong?
26:33I love it.
26:33I'm just hoping the judges can, like, see the potential I've shown.
26:39Oh, wow.
26:42He's so good.
26:43As I see my look come down the runway, I'm just really happy that I stayed true to myself.
26:48Isn't it funny that you did your best construction out of leather?
26:52Just like, I can't sew jersey, but look at my leather dress.
26:54I hope the judges kind of see how many risks I took and how, like, amazing the dress is.
27:07Designers, this runway show really blew us away.
27:11Four of you will move forward to compete in the finale.
27:15But unfortunately, two of you will be out.
27:20Coming up, love, need, want.
27:22I want to wear this.
27:23This dress is crafty and sort of DIY.
27:26I wrote on my card.
27:27I'm confused.
27:27I don't think it makes the most sense.
27:32The winner of Project Runway Junior will receive a full scholarship to the prestigious
27:36FIDM in California, a complete home sewing and crafting studio, plus the Dream Machine,
27:42all courtesy of Brother, a feature in Seventeen Magazine, and a $25,000 cash prize to help launch
27:50their lines.
27:50Also, Butter London will supply a year's worth of products and the opportunity to consult with
27:56Butter London to create a limited edition nail color collection.
28:00And styles from their finale collection will be manufactured by Los Angeles Development House,
28:05Lefty Production Company.
28:06The four of you will move forward to compete in the finale.
28:12But unfortunately, two of you will be out.
28:16Izzy, tell us about how your backdrop inspired your look.
28:19So in the background, it's sort of these like tie-dye, really organic colors.
28:23And then in the front, it's these really sharp like hard white lines.
28:26And I just wanted to make this a very literal representation of what my mural was.
28:30I think you've done a phenomenal job.
28:33The juxtaposition between structure and fluidity that you have going on here, you can't help but just love it.
28:40You have so many beautiful construction details here.
28:44You love a train. I don't necessarily know if you really need the last two layers.
28:48Yeah, I don't know if I would do the white, because it kind of for me goes pink and then white.
28:53But you know the red dress dancing girl emoji?
28:56Yeah!
28:57I was just gonna say that.
28:58It has that youthful fun, but it also has just enough of the fashion element to keep it elevated.
29:05Thank you so much.
29:06Chelsea, tell us how your backdrop inspired you.
29:09Instead of taking it directly from the front, which was like this hip-hop statue of liberty,
29:12I took from the background and it was like this galaxy.
29:15I just love this dress so much.
29:16I just envision this cool girl on this graffiti wall, like it's very believable.
29:22And I also think it's very different.
29:24I still feel like it's you, but I love that it's not black.
29:27This dress is crafty and sort of DIY, and I mean those in the best possible of ways.
29:33It has this patchwork quilt vibe.
29:35I love the neckline. I think it's so beautiful.
29:39I want to wear this, we can make that happen.
29:43You just killed it with this.
29:45You really went out of your comfort zone with this and it paid off in such a huge way.
29:50Tyler, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
29:53When I first like initially looked at my mural, it kind of gave me this like
29:56wave of like, what is this? Because it's so many colors.
29:59And I know that like with an editor, you want to focus on like one thing at a time,
30:03because I chose white.
30:04The fabric really got the best of you.
30:06Velvet in general is hard to work with, let alone white velvet, because you can see everything.
30:10Can she turn for me?
30:11No doubt.
30:12I'm just looking at so many fit issues that it's hard to even think about the silhouette.
30:17I wrote on my card, I'm confused.
30:19And then I saw this, no longer confused.
30:21Seeing it behind the background on the monitor,
30:24makes it come alive in a way that it didn't come alive on the runway.
30:27Yeah, these lights blow it out. I mean, it almost looks like a cotton muslin muslin.
30:33It's a super cute idea. I just think that the execution did bite you in the backside here.
30:41Yeah.
30:41Chris, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
30:45My mural this week, it was like a big blow up of like a girl's face. And so then I wanted to like,
30:49make Juanita like look like the girl in the painting.
30:52You know, the athleisure moment in fashion is certainly happening right now.
30:57These are the kinds of clothes that we would definitely use in Seventeen.
31:01Love, need, want.
31:02Oh, thank you.
31:03You actually took the girl from your street and brought her to life.
31:08I think it's cool. The prints are the right mix of prints.
31:11The jumper, to me, it like looks a little pajama-y.
31:15Not the pajama you buy, but I liked it, so I didn't change it.
31:18Thank you. Because in my mind, I'm like, when I wear this, at the end of the night,
31:21all I have to do is take the jacket off and get right in bed.
31:24Day to night to bed.
31:26Molly, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
31:29I took inspiration from the background of my mural. It's a black and white cityscape with stars.
31:34And I wanted to do kind of the inspiration. It's not always like what you see.
31:38So that's kind of what the concept of the skirt is and taking it on and off.
31:42It's the only look that doesn't have a lot of punchy color.
31:46When we're pulling for Seventeen, usually we do look for a lot of that graphic color.
31:51I didn't, like, want to use tons of color because, you know,
31:53that's not really like these colors of who I am.
31:55Did you make all those stars on the...
31:57Yeah, cut them out. Yep, out of a vinyl.
31:59Okay, so there's vinyl stars adhered to the pleather.
32:03Yep. All the major details that make this so cool, you can't see.
32:08You know, you didn't have to go full on with the colors,
32:10but maybe mirror the lips and do a blue cape.
32:14I wish I saw more of that wow factor in the actual look.
32:18When you do it sort of in a reveal on the runway,
32:21the reveal's not necessary unless whatever's underneath is a holy crap wow moment.
32:27I love this photo, and that's kind of the point of a cape and an editorial,
32:32that you get a great movement shot.
32:34I just think that for a Seventeen kind of moment,
32:37I don't think it makes the most sense.
32:39Okay.
32:41Howie, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
32:44Okay, so I have the Seventeen Make It Work mural.
32:47Graffiti is obviously, like, abstract.
32:49That's why I did these, like, weird shapes and, like, sharp edges.
32:52I feel like last week you had a bit of a moment,
32:56but we all need those moments to get us back on our feet again.
33:00I just love this. I think it's young. I think it's fresh.
33:02I like the way that you incorporated the sheer fabric.
33:06It's kind of like a sheer turtleneck.
33:08This sheer underneath wouldn't be something that I would wear,
33:12but it looks really cool in the photos.
33:15Without the sheer underlayer, I would have been not into this look.
33:19I would have loved a little push on the silhouette.
33:22You know, you've had kind of a rocky road here, so although I really love this outfit,
33:26it still is a similar top and a similar skirt to what we have seen.
33:33All right, we've enjoyed talking to you guys.
33:35You can leave the runway. Thank you.
33:40So, how does everyone feel?
33:41Just confusing.
33:43I think it was just, like, the color part, because, like,
33:45but then, like, I don't use a lot of color as a designer.
33:47You don't want to, like, change who you are as a designer,
33:49because then they won't like that.
33:50Yeah.
33:53I think it's amazing.
33:54I think this would be really fun to shoot.
33:57Yeah.
33:57It's a lot of fun.
33:58Izzy did such a fantastic job of editing,
34:00because there was so much more going on.
34:03All of us might take off one or more elements,
34:06but overall, she really accomplished something great here.
34:11I love it.
34:11Cool.
34:12Yes.
34:12I knew it was skinny.
34:13Oh, look how amazing.
34:15I thought there was an underlay, like a lining, but there's not.
34:18And I love that it's kind of covered up on top,
34:20because it's so sexy down here.
34:22In many ways, I kind of like the back even better than the front.
34:25This is beautiful.
34:26Beautiful.
34:27And she chose a very tough color palette to make work,
34:30and she made it work.
34:33This is everything.
34:34I love this.
34:34It's a great look.
34:35Great for the challenge.
34:36He definitely has matured as a designer in his time here.
34:39And he stayed true to Chris.
34:40Yep.
34:40Which is great.
34:43Oh, boy.
34:44Oh, my God.
34:45Tim, why do you think that the past two weeks have been so hard for Tyler?
34:49I'm really thrown by it, because I'm always telling the designers it's all in the details.
34:54I love the shapes, though.
34:55Like, I mean, I get the fit's not there, but it's a shape I would love to wear.
34:59There is something cool about these two shapes.
35:01It's just that the execution and the fabric choices are challenged.
35:05White crush velvet, what are we doing?
35:09Molly.
35:10Oh, I love a cape.
35:11However, this doesn't make sense to me with what backdrop she had.
35:16Yeah, it's a disconnect from the challenge for me.
35:21What do we do about Hoa? Because I really am into this.
35:24I love this.
35:25But from a collection's point of view, I can't say that I'm very excited about seeing
35:31six looks of crop tops and skirts.
35:33I know.
35:33With color blocking.
35:34I think that there's cool elements here.
35:37But, like, this to me looks like a clown joker outfit, like with this ruffle thing.
35:41There's a difference between young and juvenile.
35:45And for me, Hoa falls on the side of juvenile.
35:50I do think that we have to consider what it's going to be like to see a full collection from
35:54each one of these six designers.
35:57All right, let's talk about who we think should win the challenge.
36:01Love Chelsea's.
36:02I love Chelsea's.
36:03I think that Izzy's has a lot of personality and something that feels youthful.
36:08Chelsea and Izzy gave you editorial.
36:13Can we please talk about the ones that shocked me the most today?
36:16I don't get Molly's.
36:18Molly is one of those designers who's dressing themselves.
36:21Yeah.
36:21Oh, yeah, she's wearing that.
36:22Which every time what we have asked of her is to really go places she hasn't been before.
36:29I understand where Tyler was going, but he wasn't really thinking clearly with his fabric.
36:34He created a look that, quite frankly, didn't fit.
36:36But I would much rather see that on a runway than what Hoa gave us today.
36:41I wouldn't.
36:41Week after week, I'm kind of bored with it.
36:43Thinking about the fact that we have to let go two people, I mean, it is, like,
36:47quite literally breaking my heart.
36:49Yeah.
36:49I have to say, like, I want to see a collection from Tyler.
36:52I mean, he's been a force to be reckoned with this entire competition.
36:56But this was the challenge, and he didn't fulfill the challenge.
36:59He lost it today.
37:01All right, do we all agree?
37:02Mm-hmm.
37:03All right, let's bring him back out.
37:10Designers, you made us so proud.
37:13But you also made our job extremely difficult.
37:17I have to say, we are all very divided today.
37:21Very.
37:21Chelsea, you are the winner of this challenge.
37:29Congratulations.
37:32Your dress was amazing.
37:34You made something that could have been crafty into a modern, fashion-forward look.
37:38I'm so thrilled to have your look in 17, and, of course, you as well.
37:43Chelsea, you will be moving forward to the finale.
37:47You're in.
37:47You can move the runway.
37:49This is a huge deal.
37:50I'm going to be on, like, 17 Magazine.
37:53I'm a ninja in this competition.
37:55Like, from underdog to slowly, like, slicing out my competition.
37:59I'm good.
38:03Izzy?
38:05Chris?
38:07Congratulations.
38:08Woo!
38:09You guys both will be showing at the Project Runway Junior finale.
38:15Yes!
38:16I'm in the top four.
38:18I feel like I just won Miss America, and my name did not get announced wrong.
38:21We're making fun!
38:27Molly, your look was good, but we felt like it didn't have that wow factor that we were looking for.
38:33We don't feel like you're pushing your designs enough.
38:35Molly?
38:42I'm sorry you're out.
38:47Come here, girl.
38:50It's okay.
38:56Molly, honey, you have amazing things to offer the fashion world.
38:59We're going to miss you so much.
39:01I'm going to give you a hug.
39:02Oh, honey, it's okay.
39:04It's okay.
39:04It's okay.
39:05You're beautiful.
39:07Good luck, sweetie.
39:08You can meet the runway.
39:14Are you out?
39:15Yeah.
39:15Oh, sorry, Molly.
39:17You should be so proud of yourself.
39:19I'm proud of you, Molly.
39:20Tyler, you have been one of our most talented designers.
39:26But while you had some good ideas, this garment was not up to par.
39:32Hawa, your color blocking was innovative.
39:35Your underlay detail was interesting.
39:37But we're concerned about your level of sophistication.
39:41Tyler, Hawa,
39:44you are both neither in nor out.
39:52We were going to eliminate two designers tonight, but we were torn.
39:56We want to see more from both of you before making this decision.
39:59So what we are going to do is give you the chance to create collections for the finale.
40:04But wait.
40:06And this is a big but only one of you will show.
40:11You will take a look and make the determination before the finale.
40:14In the words of my mom, hot damn.
40:18I'm not going home.
40:19I'm ecstatic.
40:20I'm so happy.
40:21I will be competing for the fourth and final finale spot.
40:23And I'll also be competing for the third, second, and the first.
40:26So I am ready.
40:28We really want you both to push it.
40:30Good luck.
40:31You can both leave the runway.
40:33I'm very confident that I can beat Tyler and make it that final spot for the finale.
40:38I can't wait to just show the judges what I have in store.
40:44Are you in, Hawa?
40:45It's hard to explain.
40:46What happened was they said it was really tough.
40:49So we're both making a collection.
40:51Oh my gosh.
40:53There's a catch.
40:54Only one is going to be showing.
40:59Hello, Tim.
41:00Well, the only way I would have been happy with this outcome is if no one went home.
41:04Molly, I feel sick.
41:06You are one of the loveliest individuals I've ever met.
41:09And we're going to miss you terribly.
41:12And I have to send you to the work room to clean up your space.
41:14We're going to miss you.
41:18We love you.
41:19It just hurts, you know, getting off.
41:21I was like so close to making it to the finale.
41:24This is really everything I've worked for.
41:26I put my heart and soul into this competition.
41:28And I think I've learned a lot about myself and who I am as a designer.
41:31My goal is to show the world my design style and really just put my brand out there to the world.
41:39Next time on Project Runway Junior, we will be sending each of you home,
