00:00Previously on Project Runway Junior.
00:03Hi, everyone.
00:04I'm going to pass out, I'm going to pass out, I'm going to pass out.
00:06Hannah and I would like to welcome you to New York City.
00:09We started with the first challenge.
00:10Create a look using New York as your inspiration.
00:13Oh, my God!
00:16It can't be this rough.
00:17All the gathering comes out.
00:19Looks like an add-on.
00:20I think I'm in trouble.
00:21I just cut a hole in it.
00:25That was the best first challenge I have ever seen.
00:28This designer has a big future.
00:30Samantha, you are the winner.
00:33This isn't a new idea.
00:34It is distracting.
00:35Sammy, you're out.
00:37Best wishes, Sammy.
00:39Bye, guys.
00:49Well, guys, guess what?
00:50As hard as this was, it's just going to get harder to say goodbye to one of your peers.
00:55But tomorrow is another challenge.
00:58Ooh.
00:59And be certain to wear your finest attire.
01:03Because a limousine...
01:05What?
01:06What?
01:08A limousine is picking you up at the paper factory, your hotel, in the morning.
01:13Oh, my God!
01:14So let's get out of here so you can get some rest.
01:18Yes!
01:20I'm just ready to see what type of maybe elegant wear we're going to be doing.
01:24Who knows?
01:31I hope that this challenge is a red carpet challenge.
01:33It just makes sense because we're all dressed up.
01:36We all look good.
01:37Oh, my God.
01:38I've never even been in a limo before.
01:40Not only is this just a limo, it's like one of those super long ones.
01:44It takes up, like, the whole street.
01:46And I'm super excited to see where we're going.
01:54You know when you, like, pass a nice car and you're like, oh, look at that car.
01:57I wonder how many people have gone, oh, look at that limo.
01:59Right?
02:00Imagine how a limo has ideas for what the challenge might be and, like, what you would design.
02:04I'm, like, so curious.
02:05Right now, I think I'm going to see a premiere, maybe a play or maybe a movie.
02:09Have you guys read the car wash?
02:11No!
02:14Oh, my God.
02:17Wax off, wax off.
02:18Matt's wearing his Louboutins.
02:20Like, you don't want to wash cars with that.
02:23No.
02:24Are we going through?
02:25We're going to get washed.
02:26We're ready.
02:27The octopus is attacking the car.
02:30Oh, my God.
02:31The screaming, it's definitely driving me a bit crazy.
02:35Like, it's a car wash.
02:36Like, calm down.
02:37I've never seen so many people scared of a car wash.
02:42Oh, fancy schmancy.
02:43Wow.
02:46Hello, designers, and welcome to Magic Car Wash.
02:50When the limousine picked you up, did you ever dream that you'd end up here?
02:53No.
02:54Well, you were at this car wash for a reason.
02:57This is an unconventional materials challenge.
03:00I'm very excited for the unconventional challenge because I've never done this before.
03:06You're going to be using materials found right here at this car wash to create your looks.
03:11And I have to tell you, I love the unconventional materials challenges because they force you to think differently.
03:16I'm so nervous, honestly, because all I've ever worked with is just, like, fabric.
03:20So, designers, if you look around the car wash, you will see a vast array of materials that you will be using in the design and execution of your looks.
03:29Mops, sponges, rubber mats, hoses.
03:32And designers, remember, you're creating real fashion, so your looks need to look like clothes.
03:37I feel super pumped because I love watching unconventional challenges.
03:41They give you a different way to use the materials versus just as fabric.
03:45You'll each have two bags to fill with as many materials as you can in three minutes.
03:51Yes!
03:52My strategy is to literally just grab everything in sight so the other designers can't have what they want.
03:59And your time starts...
04:04...now.
04:08Look at that!
04:09Here goes the jacket.
04:11So I'm grabbing all these different pinwheels, and I want to make sure that I have a lot of them just so I can create a cohesive look.
04:17But I don't really even know what I'm going to do with them yet.
04:23For some reason, I grabbed these obnoxious neon colored gloves.
04:27I'm not really a color person.
04:28I don't know what these plastic things are.
04:30I don't even know what I'm using.
04:31I'm literally dragging it.
04:32I can't get any of this.
04:3430 seconds, designers.
04:36I am running crazy.
04:39Stupid.
04:40Pushing everyone out of the way.
04:41Like, these are my mobs.
04:43Ready, ready.
04:44I'm going to be my mobs.
04:45Taking wheels.
04:47And that is time.
04:49Ugh.
04:51I really don't know all what I have, but I know that there's something in there that I can use.
04:56Good luck, designers.
04:57Can't wait to see what you're going to do with this.
05:00Bye.
05:01Bye, Hannah.
05:02All right, designers.
05:03Let's head back to the work room.
05:06Oh, it's right here.
05:07Is it gone?
05:08Oh, my God.
05:09Oh, my God.
05:10We took down Sammy's picture.
05:12Oh, no.
05:13Honestly, it really sucks having Sammy gone.
05:18I hate this.
05:19This is so sad.
05:20But when it comes down to it, all 12 of us designers knew coming into this, there's only going to be one winner.
05:27Hi, Tim.
05:28Hi, everyone.
05:29Hi, Tim.
05:30Hi, Tim.
05:31All right, before we get more involved in this challenge, I want to address Samantha.
05:35Congratulations on winning the first challenge.
05:38Your win means that you have immunity.
05:41Oh, wow.
05:42I have, like, a mixture of emotions right now.
05:46Although it's a really good opportunity to have immunity, I feel like I should still be on my toes.
05:50All right, you have one day for this challenge.
05:52Let's get to work.
05:54Bridget, what are you cutting?
05:58License plates.
05:59My style is definitely rocker.
06:01Definitely outrageous.
06:03But I am a perfectionist.
06:05I'm very nitpicky when it comes to my designs.
06:08I'm not one to work with a license plate.
06:11I have no idea what I want to make.
06:16Oh, shoot.
06:17My style is very beachy and casual.
06:20I live right across the street from the beach.
06:22I serve in contests every weekend, and I feel like that's what really inspires my designs.
06:27I am making a two-piece.
06:28I'm putting mops all over the top.
06:31I'm also making a pencil skirt with air fresheners all over it.
06:35So I'm taking apart the pinwheels, and I want to use the reflective side as like this really cool textile, but the pinwheels show every mistake.
06:48I really wish I could have gotten more, but Maya had gone to them quicker.
06:52I don't know what I'm making right now.
06:55Might be a top.
06:57Could be a version of like a corset.
07:00How's that working out for you?
07:02Wait, where is the hose part of it?
07:04Is it just in here?
07:05It's in here.
07:06My design is a crop top with pants.
07:09On the top, I start pinning and shaping purple hose.
07:12I feel super nervous.
07:13We only have one day.
07:15If anyone got like these keychain things, my design style is not the norm.
07:20Did no one get them?
07:21No.
07:22What I can do with these keychains is definitely something that won't be seen on the runway by anyone else.
07:28I was adopted from Cambodia into a wonderful family with two dads.
07:32My dad was a fashion stylist who taught me a lot about futuristic and avant-garde.
07:36He's inspired me to take more artistic risks with fashion.
07:40All I have so far is hand sewing the keychains on, and for a moment, I'm not even sure if I like it anymore.
07:47I'm a cheerleader, but where I'm from, a suburb city in Southern California, I'm different.
07:58I'm kind of the only person that I know that does fashion design.
08:02I've never done unconventional before.
08:05It's just so, so, so stressful.
08:08I am hoping that layering the flags will make this very interesting to the eye.
08:15I like don't even want to listen to you do that right now.
08:17I know. Sorry.
08:18No, I'm just kidding. It's cool.
08:20I come up with a basic kind of bustier crop top idea, and then a long pencil slash tulip skirt.
08:26I have a couple of those lights that you have like on the back of your car, and I smash those up, and I make a really cool piece by gluing those onto the bustier, but I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to be doing with the rest of it yet.
08:40How's your skirt?
08:42It's coming out really good.
08:43That's good.
08:44I just hope that mine doesn't look like, you know, like something threw up all over.
08:52I hate colors so much.
08:54I grabbed these little car wash gloves.
08:57My only concern had to be arranging the colors smartly because they can go very like Sesame Street very easily.
09:07That's so cute.
09:09I love it.
09:10I tried just layering it over, and I just liked how it looks.
09:12I really liked it.
09:14Working with the other designers is so fun.
09:17It's kind of better than my own friends because there's just a bunch of other people who love to do the same thing as you.
09:25Hi, Tim.
09:26Hey.
09:27Hello, Tim.
09:28I am here to check in with you.
09:30Hi, Tim.
09:31Jesse, I'm crazy about what you have on the dress form.
09:35Oh.
09:36I'm crazy about it.
09:38What's the matter?
09:39I just came up with it so sudden that it still hasn't quite sunken in whether I want to do that or not.
09:44It's fantastic.
09:45Thank you very much.
09:46I'm very surprised with Tim's wonderful compliments.
09:52I'm definitely feeling a lot happier.
09:53No self-doubt.
09:54Thank you, Jesse.
09:55How's Bridget?
09:56Bridget's been better.
09:57How's Tim?
09:58Oh, dear.
09:59I have nothing on my dress form.
10:00I'm still working on the skirt.
10:01I just don't know how to manipulate the unconventional materials like I want to.
10:07I'm just stressed.
10:08I've never done unconventional.
10:10I wouldn't expect any of you have.
10:12Yeah, so I'm kind of...
10:13But you've seen the show.
10:14I have seen the show.
10:15And you know we always do this.
10:16I do.
10:17So why is it so difficult?
10:21I keep on changing my ideas.
10:23Well, that's a problem.
10:24Yes, it's a big problem.
10:25Under any circumstances.
10:26I knew what I wanted to do for the skirt.
10:28I just keep on changing what I want for the top silhouette.
10:31You know, I definitely want mosaic and I kind of want a gradient effect.
10:34All right, can I just be blunt?
10:41I'm underwhelmed by what you've actually achieved.
10:49I think I'm in trouble.
10:51I totally understand.
10:53I'm underwhelmed too, and I'm also very concerned.
11:01Coming up on Project Runway Jr.
11:03What is all this?
11:04I think you need to commit.
11:05Just don't let this go awry.
11:06It's a little Gilligan's Island.
11:08Okay.
11:09I'm worried about time.
11:11You made it look expensive.
11:12You nailed it.
11:13The first thing that came to my mind is Katy Perry would wear this.
11:15The whole thing feels a little bit undone.
11:24I'm underwhelmed by what you've actually achieved.
11:28I have been having a really hard time committing to a design.
11:33I've never done an unconventional challenge, so it's really nerve-wracking.
11:38Well, can I advise this just for the purpose of time and fit?
11:41Think about this top as being like a breastplate and its armor.
11:45And then just glue gun the living daylights out of the thing.
11:49All right.
11:50Thank you, Tim.
11:53How's Katy?
11:54I'm doing pretty good.
11:55You are doing very, very good.
11:59What is this top?
12:00This is all mop strings.
12:01This is the mop?
12:02I'm just cutting up the mop and then just placing it in different designs.
12:06It's beautiful.
12:08I'm going to scale the skirt with a bunch of air fresheners and do like a tight pencil skirt.
12:12I'm just afraid that you're going to lose yourself in this application and that it's unrealistic to think that this is going to happen in our time frame.
12:19I'm a little bit worried about making the skirt.
12:22Just hoping you have enough time for it, but we'll see how it all goes.
12:25I'm afraid it might be time to think of another plan.
12:28Wow, Matt.
12:29Hi, Tim.
12:30Hi.
12:31What is all this?
12:32You know, it's a lot of craziness, but I think...
12:34It doesn't look crazy.
12:35Okay, good.
12:36That's the goal.
12:37How much more work do you have on the top?
12:39You know, on the top, I'm almost done.
12:40Good.
12:41I just obviously need to do a little bit of a hem, and then the skirt is where I was thinking
12:45I could use this, but I'm just worried I don't want to add too much volume to the hips.
12:50I am definitely freaking out at this point.
12:52I mean, I definitely don't want to disappoint Tim Gunn because, like, he is the Tim Gunn.
12:57Well, how about cutting it in half?
13:00That's a good idea.
13:02Hello.
13:03Hi, Zachary.
13:04Talk to me, please.
13:05So, I cut up a bunch of the pinwheels, and I'm using the reflective side.
13:09Good heavens, is the pinwheels?
13:10Yeah.
13:11Just cut them up so that's almost like a mosaic type thing.
13:13And then the bottom is car mats for now.
13:18What do you mean car mats for now?
13:19Well, I don't know if I really like this.
13:21I think you need to commit.
13:22Okay, then I'm committed.
13:23I think that Zachary's garment is really cool.
13:26I'm not afraid that we're both working with pinwheels just because we are using them in such
13:31different ways that they don't look alike at all.
13:34So, what are you doing?
13:37So, I am doing a dress, as you can see.
13:40Because these colors are so harsh together, I wanted to create that effect of color blocking.
13:46Can I tell you about the color?
13:47It's fun.
13:48You like it?
13:49Yeah.
13:50Hi, Jackson.
13:51Tell me what you're doing.
13:52I'm cutting fringe to make shorts.
13:55How long will the short be?
13:56I don't want to make it a booty short.
13:58I mean, you have to consider the proportions relative to the top.
14:01Just don't let this go awry.
14:03Keep your eye on it.
14:04Okay.
14:06Hi, Isabelle.
14:07Hello, hello.
14:08Talk to me.
14:09So, I just took a sponge and ripped it apart, and then just glued them on.
14:11What's happening under the sponge?
14:13Under?
14:14It's just from the flags.
14:15It's like that, the string thingy.
14:17And the skirt?
14:18The skirt, yes.
14:19It's out of flags.
14:20It was supposed to be shorts, but then I started layering the flags over it, and I really
14:24liked the effect it gave.
14:25And what's it like in the back?
14:26Yeah, I'm just going to fix it up.
14:27Oh, you still have to...
14:28Yeah, I just need to fix it up.
14:30It's already looking a little Gilligan's Island.
14:36I really don't know what Gilligan's Island is.
14:41Maybe a classy, chic island.
14:43You never know.
14:44I don't think it's a matter of altering the shape of the skirt.
14:48It's more about an addition.
14:50Think about a sponge hem or something.
14:54Yeah.
14:55The sponges are your friend.
14:57Okay, thank you.
14:58Thank you so much.
14:59Looking over at Isabelle's mannequin, it's not going very well.
15:03The top is not wearable, the bottom is not wearable.
15:06It's kind of a disaster.
15:08All right, designers.
15:10Three hours.
15:12That's the amount of time you have left in the workroom today.
15:15You will have an hour in the morning.
15:18Your models will be in shortly.
15:20All right, everyone.
15:21I'll see you tomorrow.
15:22Thank you, Tim.
15:24Jackson, do you have your bodice done yet?
15:26I have, like, the base.
15:28I'm feeling stressed right now.
15:31I have to put a fringe on the shorts.
15:33I have to glue the purple stuff onto the bodice
15:36and then sew the bodice to the shorts and add snaps.
15:40Oh, that hurt.
15:42Hello.
15:43Hi.
15:44How are you?
15:46So this is what we're in the process of making.
15:49Like a cyborg princess.
15:51Yeah.
15:52Kind of hardcore.
15:53I love it.
15:54Yay.
15:55The top looks exactly how I wanted it to on the model.
15:58It fits great.
15:59I am fitting the muslin because I have nothing done
16:02on the skirt so far.
16:03I was going to use air fresheners,
16:05but Tim said that it would take way too long.
16:08So I'm going to go with the super cool, like,
16:11washed out white mop fringe.
16:14Yay.
16:15She looks like Captain America.
16:17Oh, God.
16:18Zach, are you putting your model to work?
16:21My model, Lyric, volunteered to help me glue.
16:26I'm a multitasker.
16:27She's very nice.
16:28I feel like it could be the disco ball.
16:31I love it.
16:32Everything's fitting just how I expected it to.
16:35It's kind of all coming together really slowly.
16:38Okay, Timmy.
16:40Yeah.
16:41Oh, my God.
16:42Fitting goes perfectly.
16:43I was leaning more on the loose type of dress,
16:47and I'm so glad that that's what I was able to come out with
16:50of course.
16:51It looks cool.
16:52It looks really good.
16:53Yeah, I just need to fix the back a lot.
16:55The back of my skirt was too short,
16:57and the front was too long.
16:58I'll fix the back.
17:00Hopefully, it'll come out long enough
17:02that her booty won't show on the runway.
17:05It's really cool.
17:07My garment's fitting my model,
17:08and it looks great on her,
17:09and she feels comfortable.
17:11All right, one more time.
17:14And I couldn't be happier with how this is going.
17:17Jessie's look on the model is amazing.
17:20I know without a doubt he is going to win this challenge.
17:23All right, thank you.
17:24So much for everything.
17:25All right, tomorrow.
17:27I'm dreading the runway tomorrow.
17:30I don't even know if my model can make my dress look good.
17:34I have so much to do.
17:37I'm worried about making the fringe skirt,
17:39and I'm just praying that I finish this in time.
17:46So stressful to think that if I don't have a strong bottom,
17:49I could even be going home.
17:52Hey, y'all.
17:53It's time to go, sadly.
17:56Like now.
17:58I feel super nervous.
18:00It's a lot of work to do within a short amount of time.
18:02So I am going to work my butt off tomorrow.
18:10Coming up on Project Runway Junior.
18:12Runway, baby.
18:13Will everyone be ready?
18:14Hopefully.
18:15I'm super worried about how this tubing is going to work out.
18:18Oh, my God.
18:19I'm only halfway done with this.
18:21Jackson, speed it up a little.
18:24Hey, Tim.
18:33Hi, Tim.
18:34Good morning, designers.
18:35Good morning.
18:36Good morning.
18:37Wow.
18:38A lot of progress has been made.
18:41You will have one hour,
18:43and then you and your models and I are going down to the runway.
18:46Jackson, speed it up a little.
18:48I know.
18:49Okay, okay.
18:50All right.
18:51See you later.
18:52Thank you, Tim.
18:53I'm feeling pretty stressed having to rush to get this top done.
18:58I'm like working out.
18:59Hands are like everywhere.
19:01Day of the runway and I'm still picking apart pinwheels.
19:04I'm so looking forward to them all coming in.
19:06I was hoping that the skirt isn't too big or too small.
19:09If it doesn't fit, I don't know what I'm going to do.
19:12How are you going to attach to that?
19:14Are you going to wait for your model to come in?
19:15Yeah.
19:16I'm super worried about how this tubing is going to work out on the skirt.
19:20It's hard to work with.
19:22Oh my God.
19:23Mad.
19:24I still have to finish the zipper of my dress and attach a waistband.
19:28Stress.
19:29I got a lot done, but I'm not proud of it.
19:32I'm so worried that I might go home.
19:35We have 40 minutes left and then run away.
19:39I'm only like almost halfway done with this.
19:42Jackson will talk about how, oh, I have to finish my top or I have to get this done, but he seems pretty lax about it.
19:48I wouldn't be if I were in his shoes.
19:50When I'm done sewing these pieces on, I'll give you a hand.
19:54Oh, aren't you cute?
19:55I'm not good at the competition, excuse you.
20:00I am pretty much all done with my look, so I decided to go over and help Jackson.
20:05Make it look good, I promise.
20:06Just because he's my friend and I want to see him finish his look.
20:09Oh!
20:10My model's here.
20:11My model's here.
20:12Runway, baby.
20:13Okay, stay put, stay put.
20:14Don't hurt me now.
20:15Get a little tangled up.
20:16That's better.
20:17Everything fits perfectly just like I was hoping.
20:22All I did was add some more string to the top.
20:24I'm ready to go.
20:25I won't hot glue your skin, I promise.
20:28Obviously the human body isn't just like one completely flat line.
20:32It's difficult to have it lay evenly and I am nervous to see how it looks on the runway.
20:37Let's not accidentally glue your hair.
20:40Hot gluing snaps on, hot gluing hair.
20:43And I feel like it looks a little crafty, but I don't think it's the worst.
20:50Alright designers, in ten minutes, you and your models and I are going down to the runway, okay?
20:55Yay!
20:56Will everyone be ready?
20:57Yes.
20:58Hopefully.
20:59I'm anxious to see my look on the runway.
21:03I'm pretty sure nothing will fall off, I hope.
21:06We all wish that it's a two day challenge so that we can really show our visions, but so many of us had to cut our designs short.
21:15Everyone in the workroom was stressing out.
21:17Designers and models, we're going down to the runway everyone.
21:21Follow me please.
21:22So ready.
21:23My dress is a hot mess.
21:24I might start crying, I might start screaming.
21:27I hope that I'm not going home.
21:34The winner of Project Runway Junior will receive a full scholarship to the prestigious FIDM in California, a complete home sewing and crafting studio provided by Brother, a feature in Seventeen Magazine, and a $25,000 cash prize to help launch their line.
21:50Hello everyone.
21:51Hi.
21:52Welcome to the runway.
21:53Hey.
21:54You all know how it goes in fashion.
21:55One day you're in, and the next day you're out.
21:56For this challenge you guys got all dressed up, thought you were going somewhere fancy.
22:11We even sent a limo to pick you up, but you weren't going anywhere fancy were you?
22:16Uh huh.
22:17We sent you to a car wash.
22:18This was an unconventional materials challenge, and I cannot wait to see this runway show.
22:25Samantha, you won the last challenge, so you know you have immunity for tonight, so you cannot be eliminated.
22:32Let's say hello to our wonderful judges.
22:34We have fashion designer Christian Siriano, fashion critic and fashion designer Kelly Oswald.
22:41Hi guys.
22:42And fashion director for Seventeen and Cosmopolitan magazines, Aya Kanai.
22:47Also, we have Tim Gunn here.
22:50Tim will not be judging your looks, but as you know he does have one Tim Gunn save.
22:55That means that if at some point in the competition he disagrees with the judges, then he can bring the eliminated designer back.
23:02Okay, it's time for the show.
23:09Oh my gosh.
23:10I just love my look and how it's coming down the runway.
23:14Light is hitting it perfectly and it's not too reflective, but it's not too matte.
23:19And I'm just really happy on the outcome.
23:21That's a rough comment.
23:22That is genius.
23:24I definitely feel like my vision came through in this look.
23:33Look at Kelly's face, Patey.
23:35It's moving how I want it to.
23:38Everything about the top is just how I wanted it to be and I'm really liking it.
23:43I feel like this look is really my aesthetic.
23:49You know, with the black and the hard edge, it's definitely very downtown.
23:53It is a little bit more chic than I usually do, but if I were to design a party look, this is the dress that I would make.
24:00From far away, my design looks good, but the back of my skirt, the zipper part isn't well done.
24:10So I'm hoping that my garment doesn't fall apart.
24:13My look didn't really turn out the way I had envisioned it.
24:22I'm most concerned about this skirt.
24:24It's kind of like a quinceañera gone wrong.
24:33I definitely think that this look represents me as a designer.
24:36I stuck to what felt right and I think that it really paid off.
24:43My model is definitely having a hard time walking and that is something that I was a little bit scared of.
24:50There's only so much that I could do.
24:52I couldn't bring those tubes up any higher or something else would have been popping out on the runway.
25:03I feel pretty confident about my model walking the runway because I feel like it's different from everyone else's.
25:08Those shorts are awesome.
25:10Yeah, they're shorts.
25:11I don't see that sparkly fringe on anyone else's.
25:21My look looks very good and fits properly.
25:24Just hoping that none of the geometric pieces fall off.
25:28Out of everyone's amazing unconventional garments, mine is my own favorite.
25:42I just feel super duper satisfied with how everything came out from the length to the color choices.
25:51My garment looks absolutely great on the runway.
25:54It's moving the way I want it to in the shoulders and the fit is clean.
26:00Kelly's jaw drops.
26:01I think it's a good reaction.
26:03But either way, it catches their attention.
26:06Amazing.
26:07I'm very proud of what I have today.
26:08I have to say I will never look at a car wash the same again.
26:20That runway show blew us away.
26:22You guys should be really proud of yourself.
26:23In fact, we have four high scores and two low scores today.
26:33We couldn't even come up with three low scores.
26:35If I call your name, please step forward.
26:39Bridget.
26:42Jackson.
26:44Mya.
26:47Zach.
26:50Victoria.
26:53If I called your name, congratulations.
26:55You're safe.
26:56You can leave the runway.
27:02Great job, you guys.
27:03Good luck.
27:05The six of you have the highest and the lowest scores.
27:09One of you will be the winner of this challenge.
27:11And one of you will, unfortunately, be out.
27:17Coming up on Project Runway Junior.
27:19I love the construction of it.
27:21I can't even find something that I don't like about this.
27:24I'm feeling a little bit tortured right now.
27:26It looks a little messy.
27:28It's JLo on a budget.
27:29It's not working.
27:32The six of you have the highest and the lowest scores.
27:34Again, there are four highs and there are two lows.
27:37So let's bring out your models.
27:39Katie, tell us about the materials you used and your look.
27:46I never thought I'd be saying this, but I was very inspired by the mops.
27:50And so the top, I just kept hot gluing different strings and different swirly designs.
27:56And the bottom, I did a fringe with little swirls on the top.
27:59I loved this look.
28:01I loved how you created different textures using this one material.
28:06I also really love the way it moved.
28:09This was one of my favorite looks.
28:11You know, I love a crop top.
28:14I like that it's so feminine and girly.
28:17I really do.
28:18And I just love that it looks so finished.
28:21Thank you so much.
28:22I think the details around the waist, I don't personally love.
28:26I almost wish you would have incorporated the color and the texture of the top into the bottom in some way.
28:32But you've really made it work.
28:33And I think it's really beautiful.
28:34See, I'm going to disagree with you, Christian.
28:37I like the way that you used two completely different mops for it.
28:41And the way that you brought it all together was by the swirls of the mop in the band.
28:45And when you turn your model around, you can see how that detail is also shown in the back of the crop top.
28:52It's really, really good.
28:53Thank you so much.
28:54Samantha.
28:55Okay.
28:56So this is my first time doing an unconventional challenge ever.
29:01So going into the car wash, my heart definitely dropped down to my feet.
29:05And I was like, oh, I'm going home.
29:06But then I'm like, oh boy, I have immunity.
29:08So the material is car wash gloves.
29:13There's like a thousand gloves in here.
29:15And what I had to do was cut the glove in half because or else it wouldn't go through the machine.
29:19I'm sure people at home are going to be like, this is a bath mat and it's not going to work.
29:24But I think the color blocking is really done really well.
29:27It's really beautiful.
29:28And I feel like I see a real designer here when I look at this.
29:31And I think that's what this show is all about.
29:33So I think you did a really great job.
29:34Thank you so much.
29:35What we have here is a perfect marriage of a designer and model.
29:41The way that you guys stand there like, what?
29:44Like you guys have such a, you guys are just cool together.
29:49I could totally imagine Dominique wearing this dress running around New York Fashion Week,
29:55getting shot by every street style photographer out there.
29:58Thank you so much.
30:00I don't like the colors.
30:03Me either.
30:05I love the design.
30:08I love that it just falls on her.
30:10You nailed it.
30:11I mean, it's a beautiful dress.
30:14All right, Matt.
30:16So for the top, I got these little lights that you put on the back of your cart.
30:20I crushed them up.
30:21I was really inspired by this Jean Paul Gaultier vintage jumpsuit.
30:25And I'll be the first to say it.
30:27The skirt I know is God awful.
30:29I know the reference you're talking about exactly, but the skirt sticks out a lot.
30:38And the execution is where it was lacking a bit.
30:42Here's the thing.
30:43You must never forget about the woman.
30:46And you can see that she's being sort of compressed.
30:49Ooh, I want to just, like, give her a break for a second.
30:53I applaud you for using, you know, something so unconventional.
30:57You know, and I think in a weird way, she kind of is like a young, cool girl.
31:00I like that she's in a flat shoe, even though she couldn't really walk in her flat shoe.
31:03Definitely has those challenges.
31:06But I think you understand what the problems are here, and that's really important.
31:11Thank you, Matt.
31:14Jesse.
31:16So my materials are the sun shields for the car.
31:19And for the treatment that it did on the sleeves, they are actually key chains.
31:24This was definitely my favorite look.
31:27I loved how you used the piping.
31:29I thought that was, like, very feminine.
31:31And then, of course, the sleeves are amazing.
31:34Just that little bit of movement and color.
31:37She just looked so finished when she was walking down the runway.
31:40So good job.
31:41Thank you so much.
31:42I think the fit is so beautiful.
31:45My favorite part is the back, if she wants to turn.
31:48I love the cut, that kind of drop scoop in the back.
31:51And I love that the sleeves have an ombre effect.
31:54I just think that, you know, all those little tiny details are really kind of finishing this look.
31:59When I look at this, I'm like, the first thing that came to my mind is Katy Perry would wear this.
32:03Then I was like, no, I want it.
32:06You can have it.
32:07I can't even find something that I don't like about this.
32:12All right, Isabel.
32:13I knew that I really wanted to do a two-piece.
32:16So these are flags.
32:18This is actually sponge.
32:19And this is from the string that held the flags.
32:23I'm feeling a little bit tortured right now because I love your optimistic attitude.
32:30But the high-lowness of the skirt and the shape of the hem, the whole thing feels a little bit undone.
32:39Yeah.
32:40I agree.
32:41Okay.
32:42I'm confused with the white because it really draws your eyes straight to that white.
32:47And it's just that, to me, it gives off a bit of a kind of trashy vibe.
32:53Yeah.
32:54I wish I could have put more color on the white.
32:56I definitely agree with what you said, how it really draws your eyes.
32:59It really does.
33:00Okay.
33:01The skirt, it looks a little messy.
33:05It looks flimsy.
33:06It doesn't look expensive.
33:07You know what I'm saying?
33:08Yes.
33:09I think it was a bit of a miss, but I know you had a lot of good ideas with this.
33:15All right.
33:16Zachary.
33:17So I used the metallic pinwheels for the top bustier.
33:21Two different types of car mats for the skirt.
33:23And then I quilted the sunblockers.
33:26The fact that they're two different kind of floor mats and you've created a peplum using
33:31rubber and very thick rubber.
33:33The way that it weighs down the front allows it to kick out and have volume.
33:37It's so well done.
33:40I'm obsessed with the bodice.
33:42I love the construction of it.
33:44You put the materials in all the right places.
33:47It's just really impressive.
33:51Can she turn it aside for me?
33:53Because that top doesn't gape away from her in the front at all.
33:57I think that's the best part of this.
33:59I don't necessarily love the silver kind of futuristic thing.
34:02Sometimes they can go really tacky, really cheesy.
34:05You know, it's J-Lo on a budget.
34:06It's not working.
34:07But I think in this instance, it really works.
34:10You made it look expensive, which is hard to do.
34:13I'm going to use that for the rest of my life.
34:14J-Lo on a budget.
34:15Listen, it happens to the best of them, let me tell you.
34:18Designers, one of you will be the winner.
34:21And unfortunately, one of you will be out.
34:24Okay?
34:25You can leave.
34:26Thanks.
34:27Oh, my God.
34:29Who's at the top and who's at the bottom?
34:32Tell us everything.
34:33There's four tops.
34:34There's four tops and two bottoms.
34:35I was definitely at the bottom.
34:37I was in the bottom.
34:38That was intense.
34:39That was super intense.
34:41They tore mine apart.
34:43I thought your top was really cool.
34:45They didn't even like the top.
34:46What?
34:47I just hope that the judges can see that I had good intentions, but they just didn't work
34:52out.
34:53So, I'm just trying to stay very calm right now and just hope for the best.
34:56I don't want anything to go home.
34:58I don't want anything to go home.
34:59I don't want anything to go home.
35:00Somebody has to go, though.
35:01I know.
35:02Hello, judges.
35:03Hello.
35:04So, we have Petey.
35:06I mean, this top.
35:07It's incredible.
35:08Do you mind turning around here?
35:09Thank you so much.
35:10She's very conscious of where to bring the curves in all the right places.
35:14Absolutely.
35:15It just looks like something you'd see in a store already.
35:16It's pretty amazing.
35:19We have Samantha.
35:21It's a bathroom carpet.
35:22I love it.
35:23You can't even see a scene.
35:24The fact that the color is mixed with the texture, it's like Muppety in the best way.
35:29Yeah.
35:30Definitely a little Muppety.
35:31She has taste.
35:32Yeah.
35:33You can't really teach taste.
35:35And we have Jessie.
35:37Each of those panels is in fact a panel.
35:40It's individually cut.
35:41He placed each one.
35:42Yeah.
35:43That is pretty amazing.
35:44To have it fit like this is spectacular.
35:49So, we have Zachary.
35:51Look at this bodice.
35:52This doesn't even gape at all.
35:54And that's, I think, why this is really so beautiful.
35:57It's so hard to pick between Zachary and Jessie.
35:59Yeah.
36:00And we have Matt.
36:03Listen, it's hammered and nailed up in here.
36:06Some hot glue, some tickety-tack tape, and some trying to hold this together.
36:10But do you have a vision?
36:11Up close.
36:12It is brutal.
36:13Yeah.
36:14It is brutal.
36:15It's brutal.
36:17And we have Isabelle.
36:19This looks like a trash bag.
36:21I like the sponge.
36:22I just wish she could have made this cooler.
36:24Yeah.
36:25This is basically where this look was when I left her after the critique.
36:29Yeah.
36:32All right, judges.
36:33Happy deliberating.
36:34The models and I are going to leave you.
36:38Okay, we have big decisions to make.
36:40Yes.
36:41All right, we have to decide who's going home.
36:43I hate this part.
36:45Is it Isabelle or Matt?
36:47Okay, looking at Matt, at least there is like...
36:51There's like a girl there.
36:52There's a vision.
36:53There's a vision.
36:54There's a story that's trying to be executed.
36:56Here's the thing.
36:57I mean, Isabelle, she was even smiling as she was receiving our criticism.
37:01I know.
37:02It makes it so hard for me to say that your beach ball parachute skirt was totally inappropriate.
37:07A little bit like a beach ball, huh?
37:09Both executed terribly.
37:11Yeah.
37:12They both made really bad choices.
37:13So do we all agree?
37:15Let's bring the designers back.
37:23Designers, one of you will win this challenge.
37:26And unfortunately, one of you will be out.
37:38Designers, one of you will win this challenge.
37:40And unfortunately, one of you will be out.
37:44You're welcome.
37:47You're welcome.
37:48How do you feel?
37:49I really did not expect that.
37:50Construction of your garment was impeccable.
37:51You really worked well with your materials.
37:52You have immunity for the next challenge.
37:53Oh, hallelujah.
37:54It cannot be eliminated.
37:55You can lead the runway.
37:57You're welcome.
37:58I definitely did not expect to win.
37:59I felt like I had such a rocky start.
38:00Woo!
38:01But I'm glad the judges saw my use of materials and color.
38:05And so I'm really happy.
38:06Did you win?
38:07Yes!
38:08Yes!
38:09Yes!
38:10Yes!
38:11Yes!
38:12Yes!
38:13Yes!
38:14Yes!
38:15Yes!
38:16Yes!
38:17Yes!
38:18Yes!
38:19Yes!
38:20Yes!
38:21Yes!
38:22Yes!
38:23Yes!
38:24Yes!
38:25Yes!
38:26Yes!
38:27Yes!
38:28Yes!
38:29Yes!
38:30Yes!
38:31Yes!
38:32Yes!
38:33Yes!
38:34Yes!
38:35Yes!
38:36Jesse, it was a close second.
38:37Really close.
38:38Really close.
38:39You're in.
38:40You can lead the runway.
38:43Samantha, Pady, you're in.
38:47You can lead the runway.
38:48Thank you, guys.
38:49Thank you so much.
38:50Isabel, Matt, your looks had the lowest scores, and unfortunately one of you will be out tonight.
39:03Isabel, your positive attitude is like a burst of sunshine, and you had a lot of great ideas, but the execution was a little off.
39:13Matt, your look had the potential to be really cool, but your model could barely walk down the runway.
39:22Girl, I know.
39:23Isabel, Matt, one of you will be out.
39:28Isabel.
39:29I'm sorry.
39:30Unfortunately, you're out.
39:31It's okay.
39:32It's okay.
39:37I'm sorry.
39:39Unfortunately, you're out.
39:40It's okay.
39:47Sorry.
39:48I'm a mess just like my skirt.
39:53Matt, that means you're in.
39:54You can leave the runway.
39:55Thank you guys so much.
39:56I love you so much.
39:58Good luck, babe.
40:00Isabel, you have great ideas, and many people will be wearing your clothes.
40:05Hopefully.
40:07Good luck to you.
40:09Thank you so much.
40:13It's very hard.
40:17But I am not going to stop designing, of course, because this is what has made me, me, so...
40:26Come here, honey. Come here.
40:30Don't take this as a bad thing, okay? You're a great designer.
40:34The worst part of going home is definitely leaving the other designers that I met.
40:39I love you so much.
40:41Everyone here shares the same passion, and back home, it's just, like, me and my room.
40:46But here, you're designing with a bunch of other really awesome designers.
40:53Hi, Tim.
40:55Isabel, you are an excellent designer. We all know that.
41:00I'm choking up.
41:02No, no.
41:03Whatever you do, you will be a smashing success.
41:07Because you're a pure soul.
41:09And I have to send you to the workroom to clean up your space.
41:14Thank you, Tim. Thank you so much.
41:18Everybody wants to get in on this.
41:20We love you guys.
41:22We love you guys.
