00:00we talked yesterday it came out in the five o'clock hour the uh the the the contract redoing
00:06of miles garrett and it's interesting the two the biggest point of clarification is because i've seen
00:12people continuously say well the browns have done this with every other contract no the way this
00:18happened it's different uh they had to actually like all the other times have been baked into
00:23the contract this is something that miles had to agree to so that also means that it's something
00:29that miles had to see value in for himself as well well i think i think miles would find value
00:34in
00:34this to me this is all about just cracking the door open i do i think legitimately it means that
00:39the browns are going to trade miles garrett after june 2nd no but what i do think it means is
00:43that
00:44we got to pay attention to it a lot more and uh a trade deadline type deal makes a lot
00:49more sense
00:50to me than anything else but now the money that bonus is due in like week three right yeah somewhere
00:54around there so why so i would if that's uh trade deadlines like seven weeks later it's still about
00:59the yeah but it's still about the the following year it's still about like setting everything up
01:03for the future so like the door is still cracked open and then why i say i say the tread
01:06the trade
01:07deadline is that that would be giving a lot of credence to the idea and maybe this is where i
01:11just am
01:11thinking way too much of chador or whatever happens with this quarterback race but it'd be given
01:15credence the idea that the browns want to see at least how it looks in the first four or five
01:19weeks
01:19before then they make a decision about do we go for arch do we tank what do we have to
01:23do there
01:23if it's obvious they suck then i would think the door is open i just think what's interesting about
01:28it from like when we initially saw it it was like oh it's a contract restructure and then the deeper
01:34we got into the night it's apparent it's not a typical restructuring it's not a typical jack
01:39duffin cannot comment on more people's posts about how obvious this is to him that this is setting up
01:44for a massive trade this summer and i gotta tell you that's the one jack you've single-handedly
01:48taken years off my life every tweet that i saw i the blood pressure crept up and it was like
01:55for the love of god i just like it like miles watch for the like six weeks we did it
02:00last year was just
02:00hard to be around because in the end i don't know why anyone would want to trade miles even if
02:06there's
02:06justification or or logic behind it because he's still the best thing we've had not named joe thomas
02:12and he's a future hall of famer so like the idea the the growing anxiety i had yesterday is we're
02:18not
02:18only going to be on miles watch all the way up to the draft but post the draft in the
02:23summer like
02:23we're never going to be safe from this until he's traded so that's the answer though that's the truth
02:28what this set up in many ways is that we're just never going to be safe from this it can
02:32come at any
02:32time uh the browns have it set up now where they can do it literally at any point and and
02:37miles would
02:37just have to waive his no trade clause that's the other stipulation on this which seems like he would
02:41based off of what he said all last year i do think and i think this is where maybe i
02:45got a
02:45little agitated at the browns as jack duffin was tweeting tweet by the way it's important to point
02:51out with jack that like jack has been the one that has absolutely nailed everything with deshaun
02:55watson every single step of the way yeah like like it would it would hurt or it would hurt less
03:00let's
03:00put it that way if i didn't trust jack and if jack hadn't been a hundred percent right this entire
03:04time
03:04but because he has i have to pay attention to it and he was even right at the in-season
03:09trade that was
03:10thrown out there where i think he said it was like one percent chance that what happened i might
03:15have even said less than that but i do i i would really love to know and this is where
03:19i got a little
03:19agitated with the browns it's like okay what changed right like if if the if this cracks the door open
03:26or if it kicks the door open by you know june 2nd just what the hell changed because i i
03:33i would love
03:34to know because it felt like the whole point of this is you convinced miles that 40 million dollars a
03:39year
03:39was nice and you also convinced miles that you were building something here now you're two years into
03:45what should be a three-year plan halfway through it pivoting and trying to to re-figure this out i
03:52just
03:52i i think that i think if the browns were to trade miles i think they need to tell us
03:56what the hell
03:57changed from when it was an emphatic no absolutely not not gonna do it and so convincing by the way
04:04that miles caved last year before nfl free agency to now being like well we got to crack that i
04:10think
04:10last year i think they thought they had a chance we can all laugh at it because they only won
04:14five
04:14games and their presentation with four quarterbacks was laughable but there was enough people around
04:18that building that thought with that defense they could compete in some sort of way and they were
04:22building something and i think what's changed in a year is they've gone from thinking that and having
04:26that mentality and i don't even know if this is the actual truth but they're giving us giving us
04:30the impression that now they're going towards this bridge year this gap year until 2027 and they're
04:35actually taking the steps to do a a quiet soft rebuild it should be noted uh that mary kay has
04:42come out with uh with the the thing that says that the browns aren't planning i have no intention of
04:46trading uh miles garrett i think it was i think there was a so far at the end of that
04:52statement which i
04:52think is an interesting uh cracked open door and then was it shefter or rapaport no shefter on
04:59mcafee show okay who also had a comment that he said he talked to the browns 100 not trading miles
05:05garrett and so i that here's my problem with that i don't believe you i don't either and a lot
05:11of it is
05:12and it makes no sense to put miles on the block paraded around publicly especially if you don't have
05:18any plans to trade him until june 2nd or until into the regular season it makes no sense to let
05:25this become public and fester even if you're gonna do it before this draft it makes no sense the only
05:31time you should acknowledge that you're considering trading miles garrett is after you've traded miles
05:37garrett yeah but i think i mean they had to they had to do it now because of the deadline
05:41that was set
05:42for tuesday right and so like because of that deadline on tuesday this is how we then this is how
05:47we
05:47found out that they did everything and now everything has become of that oh no no that's
05:50not what i'm speaking to you you can't help that you get you had to move the money back i'm
05:54talking
05:54about like the the reports where people are going wow mary kay and adam shefter saying no way in hell
05:59oh yeah i'm sorry the browns aren't going to tell everyone hey guys hey this means we're trading
06:04him that's no the browns understood it's not how they operate well i also think the browns
06:08understood what a hornet's nest they had on their hands last year with miles's public declaration
06:14and with everything else and that weird dinosaur press conference and i think they understand
06:19if you're going to trade miles it's better just to rip that band-aid off all at once instead of
06:24slowly leaking out the news that well maybe with the right offer no just wait until it's done and
06:30then inform people you're the people gonna be pissed regardless what's kind of a little uh not
06:34comical to any fan listening but kind of comical from an nfl uh moves they could make that would piss
06:39fans off the most category they're checking off a lot of those boxes this offseason nick or at least
06:44they're threatening to check off a lot of those boxes because if they end up trading miles in the
06:48same season that they turn around and make deshaun watts in the starter in week one i there's gonna be
06:52a lot of people that just have complete meltdowns and i'm looking right at you yeah i am right here
06:56i'm okay and that will be me you're gonna you're just gonna i don't know what i don't know what
07:00happened now i i think it's called a dying on air i think it's called a massive coronary
07:05uh cardiac infarction i think is another word for it come up with a a more direct combo to
07:11just make the fans so incredibly angry i i don't know that there's a one-two punch that would trump
07:16that i just they're setting up the cards for both you know in that conversation about what changed
07:21um and you'd made the point that maybe they thought they'd be better last year they you know
07:25whatever uh which i think is a fair point then i would just man your scoreboard is getting shockingly bad
07:31if every time you've projected again going into uh two years ago hey we're a super bowl contender
07:37players were saying that everyone was thinking that way browns the browns were kind of telling
07:42that to media members right we think we can win the super bowl you got the number two pick in
07:48the
07:48draft then this next year like i part of my part of the reason why i think andrew berry still
07:53has a
07:53job and that front office is still in place is i've always assumed they were really good at managing
07:58expectations and managing up which is a huge part of being in a front office but if two straight
08:04years you've told the owner hey we think we can win a super bowl and the very next year hey
08:09we're
08:09going to be competitive and and eight wins is across two years then i'm officially mystified at how
08:15anybody still has a job in that front office i've been mystified the entire time i'm super duper
08:19mystified make any sense it hasn't made sense the entire stretch i don't i don't get it i don't know
08:24how they get away with this but uh andrew berry still has a job and so like if they the
08:28big pitch
08:28for himself is to hey finally admit hey we didn't do it over the past couple years now now's the
08:33year
08:33we're going to do this rebuild well if you're going to go through the rebuild in the process of all
08:36that
08:36you might as well not half-ass it you might as well just go the whole way
08:39oh
